You should grab your copy of David F Berens and John Hopton's amazing Rogue Enemy today - GO!
find him strong as a field agent going rogue into cuba, but very weak as a deputy director of CIA... doesn't instill the confidence required for such a powerful position... let's see how the next one in the series pans out.
CIA Deputy Director Chris Collins (retired US Navy SEALs officer) & Ned Henry CIA cyber threat analyst) were enjoying a little fishing expedition celebration after sending General Buff Summerton & Senator Winchester Boonesborough away for a long time for a drug/gun running operation. George Bush Center for Intelligence (CIA Headquarters) Langley, McLean, Fairfax County, VA. CIA Deputy Director Collins went to see CIA Director Helen Miller. Havana, Cuba. El Floridita bar. Stan Abadiano had an address for Deputy Director Collins.
Club Creación. Tsu (f) introduced herself to Chris. Chelsea LaRue had been kidnapped & was being held captive. Chris & Tsu crouched outside the camp fence. Chelsea was crawling out of a hole in the ground. Tsu had been shot.

An awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very professionally written CIA Thriller book. It was extremely easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great description list of unique characters, settings, facts etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great CIA Thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

Rogue Enemy is the explosive prequel to the exciting new Chris Collins CIA Thriller series, by the exciting new writing duo, John Hopton and David Berens. Well, perhaps, with some eighteen books in print, they aren’t so new, but they are new for me since I have read none of their other books. But, after reading Rogue Enemy, I will read all of their books.
Rogue Enemy is a page burner, a roller-coaster thrill ride, with non-stop action from beginning to end. The characters are believable, the dialogue crisp and snappy. The settings so clear that the reader feels as if he’s right amid the action. The temporary suspension of disbelief is natural.
Rogue Enemy introduces us to all the main characters that will play key roles in all the Chris Collins CIA Thriller books to follow. Chris Collins, the Deputy Director of the CIA, who goes rogue to rescue a young woman he knows when she is being held captive. Helen Miller, nicknamed “Her Majesty,” who wouldn’t sanction the mission and had ordered Collins to stand down. Ned Henry, Chris’ friend and CIA analyst, who assists Chris on his rogue mission from behind the scenes, and the mysterious lady named Tsu. I know this because they all appear again in the next book in the series, Capitol Break, which we get a sneak preview of after the pyrotechnic ending of Rogue Enemy.
If you love well written CIA thriller series, this one is a must read for you.
Chris Collins is Assistant Director of the C.I.A. A recently closed case involving a general and a politician leaves an aftertaste in his mouth sand he decides to investigate further. Before getting underway, his prized possession, his boat is not, while anchored by another vessel at the hands of 4 Spoiled golden spoon borned young thugs (commonly known as princesses), who want to stir up something with him and his buddy Ned. Anyone can guess the outcome. The plan to continue the investigation into his case is shot down by his boss, the Director, with no valid reason. He gets home and his wife hints that things are all but peachy at Casa Collins. The author masterfully tells a tale of a dedicated public servant who literally refuses to leave someone behind. Action, treachery, friendship, and a goal to do good lifts this prequel to a page-turner 5 Stars rated story where the reader, through the author's gift, is virtually transported to where the action takes place. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Chris Collins, Deputy Director of the CIA, is lounging in his boat with his good friend, Ned Henry. All of a sudden, another boat filled with college buffoons crashed into Chris's boat. Later, Chris receives a demand letter from the a kid's lawyer seeking damages for Chris's action in causing the "accident".
Now things begin to pick up. Chris asks his boss about Cuba, which related to a previous mission. He was denied to further investigate the matter. Ned arrives and brings Chris a dossier which shows a camp in Cuba with possible civilians in it. But Chris recognizes a woman that he knows: Chelsea, Director of the Dolphin Research Center in Florida.
Despite his being told to ignore anything about Cuba, Chris decides he must rescue the girl. Follow Chris's mission to Cuba and his attempt to rescue Chelsea. It's an exciting one for sure.
CIA Agent Chris has been promoted. While relaxing with Ned out fishing, admiring his boat. When 4 frat kids ran into and splintered the side of his boat, and laughing about it. Barely out of his teens and had a boat. Now finding pricey lawyers were suing him for their client’s repair. A drug and gun situation in Cuba still didn’t seem right to Chris It had been wrapped up, but aerial pictures show different. He recognized the woman in the compound, she was an American. His boss says to drop it, Ned tells him to forget it, but he can’t. His adventure gives us a good plot, the sense of freedom he has. Things go wrong, who betrayed him. Yet, there is someone who is helping them, there was more than just one prisoner , could they escape. If he makes it back, will he continue with the agency. Good beginning to the series.
Lots of action in this story with Chris Collins and Ned Henry initially run down at sea by a group of youngsters that will cause all sorts of problems for Chris in the future. Chris is the Deputy Director of the CIA and recently closed a case involved drug and gun running in Cuba, but he feels there is something else going on over there. Evidence provided by Ned does not sway his boss, Helen Miller and Chris plans to work on his own by heading to Cuba, off the record and against Helen’s instructions to drop the enquiry. So, the story is off and running and when he arrives in Cuba a series of adventures take place before Tsu enters the story. There follows a lot of violence but Chris and Tsu are able to win through and save a group that have been abducted. Worth the read. Moses
"Rogue Enemy," is the first book in Chris Collins CIA thriller series. It's a compact yet action-packed ride that doesn't disappoint.
In this fast-paced thriller, Chris Collins stumbles upon a treasure trove of information: pictures a drug facility in Cuba. Collins boss, however, refuses to investigate. Collins also finds some photographs featuring a familiar face. Collins decides to go into a rogue operation in Cuba.
At under 100 pages, "Rogue Enemy" doesn't waste any time. The story and action are reminiscent of classic espionage tales, bringing to mind the excitement of James Bond movies.
The chemistry between Collins and Ned adds depth to the narrative, enriching the camaraderie that's often integral to stories of this nature.
Fast read. Filled with suspense. This is a prequel to Chris Collins Series. Capitol Break is the next book and it is on my list to read next. Chris works for the CIA and went rogue when a friend ends up in danger in Cuba. Not sanctioned by the Bureau, he leaves on his own with the help of Ned, his friend, who helps him from the Bureau. What he goes through is very serious and could cause him his life. Ned has many contacts in Cuba and organizes all that Chris needs in order to save his friend. Nothing seems to be working the way it was planned and adds to the drama. Get this book. You will not be disappointed.
Chris is a Deputy Director of the CIA and not a spring chicken! In fact his wife wants him to retire and get into the more lucrative private sector. He finds out a woman he knows was taken to a jungle prison in Cuba but his boss is refusing to do anything so he takes leave and goes to Cuba to get her out. I like that its a spur of the moment plan which cuts out pages of planning that is typically done in these stories but it's far too fast. While tons of action occur its all in a 24 hour period which isn't likely. Looking forward to more stories and an eventual answer as to who is after him.
Chris Collins knows his career and marriage is in jeopardy if he follows his gut to Cuba but he has to do what he believes is right. Little does he know what a tangled mess he is getting into when he goes rogue trying to save a girl he knows. I have enjoyed all the David Berens books I've read but cannot wait to see where this series is going next. Rogue Enemy is a page turning thrill ride that grabs the reader from the beginning and never lets go even after the last page.
Chris Collins, CIA sees Chelsa LaRue on a surveillance tape from a camp in Cuba. His director will not sanction a mission to Cuba. Chris decides to go on his own to Cuba to see why Chelsa is in this camp. Word of his arrival is know by dangerous individuals. He runs into Tsu who is there to help. This is a page turning thriller with an ending that makes you want more.
A riveting political thriller. Chris Collins is the Deputy Director of the CIA goes rogue to disrupt Cartel activities and rescue a friend from a prison camp in Cuba. This is a page turning thriller with an ending that makes you want more.
Thanks to the author who gave me an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is an excellent introduction to what appears to be an entertaining new series. Along with plenty of action, there is enough intrigue - overt and covert to keep you guessing who or what is coming after Chris. I received an Advance Reader Copy and chose to provide this review.
An ex-CIA field agent is difficult to intimidate as the punk who ends up at the wrong end after a sucker punch quickly discovers. When your boss says no you take matters undercover. This novella a freebie intro to an action thriller series.
Without U.S. approval, Chris sets out to save a young American woman who was kidnapped and sent to a Cuban prison. With help from a very accomplished killer, Chris is able to bring the woman home. And thus begins a series that is tense, violent and oh, so satisfying. Highly Recommended.
A prequel to the series - a very short read wherein Chris Collins goes rogue in Cuba and had an exciting adventure. This is just an apetizer, let me go through the first book to actually see how good the plot, story and series are.
Action packed story as Chris goes rogue. It could have done without the epilogue. That just left even more unsatisfying information. Not a cliffhanger but still the last chapter didn’t finish well for a reader.
This was a decent little short introduction to a a new character. Overall it was okay. I am sure sooner or later I will read another book or 2 in this series.
Good writing, lots of drama, nothing that is too unbelievable. Looking forward to the rest of the Chris Collins adventures (or attempts to stay alive)!!
New author for me. The story has a great deal of action and provides how far and individual will go to do something that he believes is right even though there are consequences.
Chris Collins, the newly appointed Assistant Director of the CIA, finds himself facing danger and intrigue when he decides to go on an unsanctioned mission to Cuba in search of a young lady he recognizes in a photo. It appears that she and several other people are being held in a prison-like camp. His off-the-books mission goes a bit sideways and Chris finds himself fighting for his life and for the life of the young lady he went to rescue. The story is fast paced with lots of action and, fortunately for Chris, he is assisted in his rescue operation by a mysterious woman named Tsu who is in possession of some bad### skills. This promises to be a great new series. I look forward to seeing where the authors take it.
Deputy CIA Director Cris Collins finds out a friend is held captive in Cuba. Against better advice he decides to go and try to realease his friend. Unfortunately things dont work out the way he wants and he ends up battling for his life.He gets some help from an unexpected source but the action still flies. Plenty of action. A good read.
