M.R. Forbes is the author of a growing number of science-fiction series including Rebellion, War Eternal, Chaos of the Covenant, Stars End, and the Forgotten novels. Having spent his childhood trying to read every sci-fi novel he could find (and write his own too), play every sci-fi video game he could get his hands on, and see every sci-fi movie that made it into the theater, he has a true love of the genre across every medium. He works hard to bring that same energy to his own stories, with a continuing goal to entertain, delight, fascinate, and surprise.
He maintains a true appreciation for his readers and is always happy to hear from them.

So this is part of the forgotten universe, it's a great series I started a couple of years ago, lost track of picked up with the series "the sheriff" and went back to the beginning to re-read and catchup with the story line. Now you start with "forgotten", then the series forgotten darn followed by forgotten fallout, then forgotten colony, followed by forgotten vengeance then the sheriff.....see I kinda skipped a few but I have finally caught up. There are a minimum of three books per series and five in one of them the series that follow "the sheriff " is called forgotten starship .There are a total of 26 books I have read All but five they are all 5 star reads fast paced great characters you won't be disappointed. Think post-apocalypse , science fiction mixed with a Louis l'amour flavor. (John Wayne , Clint Eastwood vs aliens)
Well written series with a few typos. Some people have complained about this, but doesn’t bother me as I immerse myself into the story.
The Relyeh are on the verge of defeat. However, they have foretold their future arrival with the promise to lay waste to Earth the next go round. I have a feeling that Sheriff Duke, Col. Card and the rest of the gang will be seeing some action.
I started reading sci-fi aged 7. I'm now over 60. The Forgotten Universe is, in my opinion, as good if not better than Asimov's Foundation series. The plot twists and turns, excites and horrifies whilst still providing a positive (humankind will eventually survive) link to the next book in the series.
I’m actually running out of superlatives. I’ve enjoyed Forgotten Vengeance so much, it’s a shame it ever finished. Forbes isn’t scared to kill off favourite characters, and if I didn’t know about the “Tirimisu” I’d be extremely sad as well as breathless from the ride. Right! Onto the next Forgotten series!
If you’ve kept up to Sheriff Duke all this time then you will truly be touched by this book. So many of life’s stories are visited, hearts broken and loves lost. Don’t worry, all is not lost, in fact, much redemption is found. This author has moved me many times and it just might be a good fit for you too.
This review is really for the entire Sheriff Duke series. I recommend you read them in order. Things happen in the books that are spoilers for previous books in the series.
I've enjoyed them all.
The author has created quite the universe, and his characters are fleshed out and interesting. I look forward to reading his other works.
This book (the whole series really) is really good. Lots of twists and turns, heroism sacrifice and humor. It's got it all.Very easy to get into and very hard to put down.
What a good read. All three of the vengeance books were hard to put down. I was sorry at the loss of good people, rejoiced at the Sheriffs success. Hard to put down. Highly recommend this series.
The author continues to deliver fast paced action and great characters. The dialogue is concise and necessary for plot development. If you’re looking for a great series to help you survive Covid, this is the one. Oh, and the good guys win—-for now.
A hell of a good read, non stop action from the start, from Earth to outer space and beyond. Well written books, easy to follow descriptions of happenings and alien beings, pity it finished. Now to read more of M.R. Forbes’s books.
I enjoyed this series, truly! I would love to see this made into a movie series; I think it would be very entertaining. I would definitely recommend these books to others...
A great end for another awesome sub-series in Forbes’ Forgotten universe. In a way, this is the end of at least part of the story: the end of the trife on earth, the end of the Collective and the Relyeh using it to choke the human settlements on Earth and Proxima, and above all, the end of Vyte and his Axon-Relyeh abominations. Luckily, there’s plenty more stories to tell in the Forgotten universe! I’m really looking forward to read the new Sheriff Duke sub-series, now that the Earth seems to be free from trife and Relyeh. Where will the awesome mind of M.R. Forbes take us now?

Ok, there wasn’t much sweet about this series, but the fact the it was a three book run made my day. I can’t stand series that go on for dozens of books.
We’ll see where this ultimately lands. I hope the author remains true to this style of start middle and end with clear paths to branch out to.
Great reads them all. Just thought I’d put another two cents into the recorder. Anyway, best of wishes to you and your family and your extended family of readers.
I so love all this entire series. I've laughed, I've literally cried and had several anxiety attacks along the way. No not kidding in the least! This series sucked me right in though I didnt realize I was starting in the middle so I went back and read the ones I missed in order. I love pretty much every second of every book. My only complaints...REALLY Natalie and the kids WTF.....and damn it dear author go back and fix the time lines. For certain characters to meet it can NOT be both 236 years for one and 396 for the other...you know what I mean and an edit would be great for readers yet to come to the series. I can NOT wait to see what's next in the coming year!!!
“Hesitation,” Max said. “Logic fault. Recalibrating.”
I love this author's work and I've enjoyed Sheriff Duke's stories, but this one was a hard one for me. I took a long break in the middle to read other books, and even after a couple of attempts to restart this one, I had trouble getting into the swing of things.
“Yee-hahaha. Haha.”
But Max did certainly make it easier.
Still, the end of this particular spin-off trilogy in the Sheriff's universe and I'm just glad to have completed it. Forbes tells us there will be more Duke, but I'm not sure how I feel about that. I think I'd prefer to be out in space.
