Hades wasn't always the Raging Rebels president and sworn enemy to Rider Marinos.
YOU KNOW HOW IT ENDS
In vivid, graphic, vignette glimpses, the layers of Hades are peeled back to reveal the monster who was always beneath his surface.
SEE HOW IT ALL BEGAN
His end was cast in stone. And his life had many pathways and a myriad of chances to change the man he turned out to be.
As with all atrocious actions, the clock is ticking. Hell is waiting for Hades.
Disclaimer: Intended for 18+ There's no HEA. This is not a romance. It's a recount of a monster's life into what made him the way he was. Not to be read before Dirty Salvation and Preacher Man.
Second Disclaimer: What happens in the Hummer doesn't always stay in the Hummer...
I write steamy, emotionally driven contemporary and MC romance, featuring tough-as-nails alpha men who only show their soft side for their person.
My books are packed with dirty talk, detailed sex scenes, and swoony, slow-burn chemistry that explodes. I lean into dark-lite themes, sometimes forbidden tropes, but I always deliver that satisfying, well-earned HEA.
Currently, I’m riding with bikers and bad boys—but one day I’ll be bringing you the dirtiest, most seductive vampire in paranormal romance. If you love intense love stories, broken characters, and men who love hard and fight harder, I’ve got something for you. 🖤
What can I say. Hades: the death of a man, the life of a monster was exceptionally addicting and nothing like I expected and everything I didn't know I wanted. I read it all in one go with barely a blink in between. Each chapter held so much depth and information we didn't know about this bad guy, who was highly intelligent, steeped in a religious abusive background and completely manipulatively sadistic. Good god, those secrets laid out in a hot flurry of unveiling. I need them all to come to fruition right now!! I can't wait for the future books. Any fan of the Renegade Souls will thoroughly enjoy this novella, it's packed to the rafters of page after page of Hades downfall at his own choices. Evil can be made, evil can be orchestrated, but it can also be born. I bounced between loving him ( even knowing exactly what he'd done in Dirty Salvation ) to loathing him. The mark of amazing writing. Some chapters were particularly gutting having loved the previous characters and seeing how life really did change them.
Another awesome book by V. Theia. This MC series is my favorite, my go-to and I'm about to read Hades once again in case I missed some secret detail along the way because this book was littered with a ton of goodies for fans of the series. No spoilers, it had everything, each avenue between Dirty Salvation and Hades was tied up so fucking perfectly and with each secret it left me gasping.
It's not to be read as a standalone. You are enriched knowing the back story to this very fucking evil charming crazy man.
All I can say; sometimes the bad guy wins, sometimes he doesn't, but if he makes an impact then you know you have read something worthwhile. I'll always remember Kyle Williams, for the abused little boy wanting love, to the torturous monster he made himself into.
If you'd asked me after I read Dirty Salvation would I want a novella from the bad guy's POV knowing he wasn't redeemable .... okay, I WOULD have said yes (ordinarily I wouldn't ) but Hades was that intriguing I did want to know more on his back story and what made this monster.
Boy, did we get to know!
Firstly, this isn't a standalone read nor is it romance ( like the rest of the series ) the author states it's a vignette glimpse into how the monster became what he did.
If you've read book one in this series you know what happens to Hades and still I was drawn into this novella like a sucker wanting a crack fix and I wanted more by the end. Twists and turns and shit I did not expect.
Like really, that big reveal towards the end! Damn. And the suprise in the middle? Damn. And the gutting twist with Zara and Rider? Damn. That hurt my little black heart, it really did. And so well done by the author, those tiny nuances that tied book one up to this one was excellently done. And the tiny bomb dropped that makes me eager for more from this series. Like give me now!
Things I didn't know I wanted and things that made me love and loathe this man.
His inner demons were finally at peace, no longer pacing their anger against the cages of his mind.
The impossible of making a reader feel something for an otherwise monstrous antagonist. When it happens it's magic.
I’m still on a Hades high. Will write a more detailed review as soon as i come down from it.
I didn’t know how badly i needed to read this bad man. It filled in so many holes i never knew where there, but I’m so glad i have them now. The inter workings of this monster’s mind was a lot to take in and there were moments my jaw was on the floor while other moments my heart broke. Again this author blew me away with her wonderfully written words. Twists and turns galore; something I’ve come to expect from her.
This is a book I never knew how truly I needed. Right from the start I hated Hades but V did the impossible she made me care for him. You have to read this if you have read the others there are twists, turns and tears. This is just perfection even if there isn’t a HEA.
Ok, so I'm going to start by saying that this is your warning, there are some serious triggers in this book, so be aware. Having said that, holy shit!!!! You do need to read the 3 previous books in the series for this to make sense. When you've read a few books by the same author you expect a certain level from them. Victoria has absolutely smashed any expectations that I had for this book. We always thought we knew that Hades was Satan reincarnate but seeing from the beginning how it all came to happen, I was not prepared. I have run the gauntlet of emotion with this book and even by the end, I don't know what to think or feel. What I can tell you without spoiling it for y'all is that V is going to rip your heart out and jump on it, while you have a huge gaping hole where your heart used to be. The emotional state that I am in cannot adequately be described other than I need a pint of ice cream and more tissues to wipe up these tears. I knew that it was never going to be an actual HEA, for Hades but while reading you hope to hear that things are going to get better and all workout. Your heart gets so confused that you hope for the best but brace for the worst. I can without a doubt say that this is some of Victoria's best work, she has managed to make you ride that emotional rollercoaster from extreme highs to deadly lows and somehow at the end of it, you're thankful for it all. I cannot wait for more of the RS boys, as I now have a new appreciation for them all. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
This is everything you never knew you wanted to know about the monster. The ins and outs, the makings of a complete sociopath. I somewhat empathized with him in the beginning but by the middle to last third, all empathy was gone. I loved the twists and turns. The new information will play out in the next book very nicely.
**DO NOT READ HADES IF YOU HAVENT READ THE RENEGADE SOULS SERIES!!**
There is so much I could say about the infamous Hades! Hades is the ultimate bad boy that you hate to fall in love with. If you haven’t read the Renegade Souls MC Romance series, then you need to do so NOW! And then read this! While we learn who Hades is during the series, we never really get to know him. V. Theia has delivered for us eager readers with Hades’ very own novel! Be warned this isn’t a romance novel, if you have read the series then you already know what happens! I love Victoria’s ability to draw you into the character. As I said when I reviewed Preacher Man, it spoke to me on a personal level. At one point during Hades I had to stop, walk away and come back to it. Without delving into my own personal mayhem, I’ll keep it brief! I know what it’s like to be rejected by your mother! And boy did this book pull on my heartstrings with the need to comfort the big bad wolf! I honestly felt through Victoria’s words that I connected with Hades, and I think that says a lot for her amazing writing! While this novel is going to come with a trigger warning – some of the scenes are difficult to read but again that’s down the amazing words Victoria has strung together amazingly. The level of detail is insane, and I loved every minute of it! From reading the Renegade Souls Series you want nothing more than for Hades to sod off and never come back! But during this book, Victoria has made you aware that Hades is in fact human too! His feelings and needs surface, and as the eager readers we are, you can’t help but be drawn into his menacing ways! Evil personified, Hades is a strong, muscular, damned good-looking monster – one that some of us wouldn’t mind finding under our beds! He fits in with the series really well, and that damned twist! I hope we aren’t waiting long for the next instalment! I realise I put pressure on these amazing authors, but you shouldn’t have written something so damned amazing and expect me not to crave more! I can’t wait to tuck into the little snippets of Christmas with the Renegade Souls MC that Victoria has so kindly given us!
And no one was badder than Kyle Williams better know as Hades. That cruel, calculating monster we met in Dirty Salvation My god, the things that guy did, and most of it was hearsay and still I felt his badness.
Now if you've read DS you know the outcome for him. DO NOT READ HADES WITHOUT READING DIRTY SALVATION. Don't ruin it for yourself.
But if you have read the series, then you know. You know what happens to him.
This novella is executed perfectly, it was a novella, with no romance as the author said ( there was SOME! ) and no HEA, and it was a novella I didn't know I wanted in my eyes and RS collection until I was blown away by each chapter. Told in vignette snapshots, we see every nuance of Kyle Williams life, we see his hardships, truly heartbreaking, and how his die was cast from birth, sort of nature versus nurture. All that little boy wanted was someone to care for him, it truly tore my emotions, because I already knew the dickhead grown up man, but somehow the author made me feel, made me care for the monster.
I'm dying to see how all the dropped Easter eggs fit into future books. Without spoilers, it has a ton of clangers, that left me slack jawed! I love that, when you think you know a series, that you have the flavour of it, and still it can surprise you. Now I just want more.
Hades was a monster, but he was a monster I was glad to have known his story.
It's not romance. There's no HEA. This is the telling of the life of a monster. Do not read before Dirty Salvation or Preacher Man! It's not a standalone book. You need that rich backstory to better understand the man that is Kyle Williams.
Now having got that out of the way......
I have so many question and so many !!!!!!!!!! of these now that I finished reading Hades. My god, this novella was packed to the rafters with secret reveals.
I'm one of those sickos who quite enjoyed reading the psycho's POV from Dirty Salvation. I was instantly intrigued by this bad man who recited religious passages and who got his comeuppance in the end. What we didn't know was where Kyle Williams came from. Who made him into the monster we met? (spoiler, he made his own damn evil choices every step of the way!) who had a hand in him taking his dark paths ( even the hero Rider helped with this. I was shocked and laughed at younger Rider being a giant dickhead. I shows the difference in men, how Rider made himself into something better )
Twists and turns and things I just didn't expect, I bloody well loved this book, and I didn't know how much until I was knee deep in monster activities. All the recounting of Zara's torment was handled delicately, it focuses fully on the working mind of this smart yet volatile madman. Some of the acts he exacts left me gasping, this dude is cold as ice for the things he does. And just the kind of character I fucking love.
What a good drone. My beautifully destroyed puppet.
SLIDING DOORS --- A chapter absolutely broke my heart and I don't break easily. It was a genius twisted move from the author, that ties in beautifully to Dirty Salvation ( book 1 )
The author quite clearly states this isn't a romance. It's a telling of the life of a monster. BUT if you look really closely you do see a tiny bit of romance. Don't blink!
“Did you track me down to fuck you?” He didn’t think embarrassment had a sound. But it did. It came out of her throat the same time her fingers rimmed her neck and she took a big gulp of air. “I—it’s not like that, Kyle. Really. I,” and then. Her voice quivered, but she met his eyes. “Yes. Yes, that’s what I want. One last time. For old times’ sake.”
I think I could have easily read a full book of Hades. From the sad to the downright wicked, he is a memorable, deplorable beast.
Reeeeeeeally terrific. I can't say it loud enough.
It’s impossible to love the unlovable. -- But I will remember you, Kyle Williams, you crazy fuck.
How can one possibly go in reading a book, knowing how it will end and still go in full speed ahead? Well. I did, with this one, just steam rolled in and didn’t care he was going to die. Wait, that’s a lie, I was COMPLETELY thrilled he didn’t make it out alive when reading previously… But now?? Hell yes, no questions asked.
The Book?..
The Villain that you hated, cheered for his death because well. If for one reason at all I’d gladly give it a name “Tiny”... (you’ve really got to read the previous books in Renegade Souls MC) But who knew there was just so much we didn’t know about him that we would love? And Feel so damn sorry for? I mean my goodness; I just couldn’t wrap my mind around it all. He wasn’t a good guy, not a good bone in his body. Then we see, well there could have been, but he was never even given the chance. It broke my heart, just left it bleeding on the floor. Nicely done with this read, I didn’t even know I wanted this book until I was pages in and couldn’t look back, refused to look back to a world without knowing his mind. A great addition to the Saga. Extraordinary and I loved every page of it. Thank you!
It’s hard to read a book when you already know how it will end. If you have read the previous Renegade Souls books (you need to before you read this one) you will understand why the majority of us RS fans are thrilled how this book ended.
In this book we find out why and how Kyle turned into Hades. I loved all the twists and turns the book had. You need to read this book if you read the other RS books. Lots of questions answered.
Thanks to our head biker queen for another awesome book!
OH.EM.GEE. Hades, Hades, Hades!! You either love him or you hate him. I did both!
You can't read this novella without knowing his present and for that you need to have read books 1 and 2 in this Renegade Souls MC series. Now I love those bikers, and I hated the antagonist Hades from book 1. Hated and was intrigued with his thought process and why he did what he did and was he truly cray and how does a man get to be the way he was seemingly without conscience or care. All those questions were answered in this novella ( though it reads like a full book )
My biggest take away was he did care. And I think he cared for three people. One who loved him and he could have had such a better life had he only chosen THAT path.
I never thought I could feel empathy for him, but I did. the book opens with my heart clutching hard for the little boy he was. And then to see he was the one who made all the wrong choices, it was eye opening. I love a great bad guy and Hades was a great bad guy! sexy too dammit!
I would have written my Hades review the moment I finished but it would have just a bunch of expletives and !!!!!! these babies.
I'm a fan of MC. A big fan. I'm a fan of the Renegade series. I read it out of order, but loved it.
So when I saw the antagonist from book 1 was getting his very own novella, first I did the o_O face because we know what happens to him ( it's nothing good! and deservedly so ) but then I hit one-click so fast.
Kyle Williams is kind of a bastard. A dark unfeeling bastard to boot and the things he does is kind of atrocious and gob-smacking. The secrets unveiled are the best yet!!!!!!
We see him as a little boy. The author killed my feelings with this, to make me feel for what we know is a monster. We see him trying to be accepted into the RS club. Boy, he was an angry thing and we begin to see the bad things he did were all on him.
Damn, I loved it. I didn't know if I would but I did. It's a perfect piece of story telling that has no happy ever after for this guy but dammit, as I read I really wanted him to change his damn mind! no gorgeous bulky man should be that evil, but Kyle was and his novella is a great add on to this series, but now I'm so ready for some happy dirty bikers again.
*Please be sure to read the Renegade Souls series in order.*
Hades takes us on a journey that shows us why Kyle transformed into Hades and all those who helped create him. His journey will consume you just as evil consumed Kyle. Kyle was truthful when he tells us that "evil isn't born. It's made." He becomes a demon "at the hands of someone else." He epitomizes the nature vs nurture in its most basic form and the consequences of nurture never happening. Growing up without being shown love affects his psyche cloaking him in darkness.
This story is a powerful one. It symbolizes Cain vs Abel...in this case Kyle could have been Abel however the evil overrode the good. But...it wasn't all his fault. He tried caring until a moment would define the his path to Hell.
When I finished reading Hades, I realized what a tragedy his life was. A tragedy because it wasn't always about good vs evil because Kyle rarely saw good.
Kyle Williams was a boy who transformed into Hades because of the evil in his life. As he exhaled his last breath, he died as Kyle.
***An ARC was kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.***
The most poignant sentence is what could have been.
Kyle Williams before he turned himself in the cruel, unfeeling man Hades had a lot of what could have been moments.
I loved this twisted affair from start to finish, even going in knowing it wasn't a romance tale as the other three books have been.
For a man-made demon, Hades had my emotions in turmoil! I loved him, I felt sorry for him, I cried for him, I hated and loathed the ground the sadistic man walked on. The gambit of feelings were strong and throughout I had one re-emerging thought; what could have been.
How does a monster love if all he knows was first to fear and then to become the bigger baddie? Short answer; he doesn’t. If you're the demon, who is afraid? easy question; everyone.
He had chances to be happy, to walk away from his terrible upbringing, sure, at that point he'd done wicked things, but with all villains with a chance I could have overlooked his bad deeds to allow good in and to be happy.
Those moments we see, the pivotal moments I almost shouted at my kindle knowing fine well how it ends up. lol. that's the mark of a great story teller. I KNOW his story and yet I didn't. Now I'm glad V Theia shared Hades with us.
The unforgettable monster with his secrets that will hopefully pop up again one day.. and his hummer ( hot as hell )
OMGGGGGGG <---- my reaction when I stalked V. Theia's page and saw the baddest baddie from Dirty Salvation had his own novella.
It's not the norm to see a full book dedicated to a character who died in book one. But if you knew Kyle Williams later known as the infamous Hades then it's understood why his story was needed. I was excited and I wasn't disappointed because despite his soul deep badness the author managed to make me feel sympathy for this guy. When he was a boy and had no love. When he was rejected by his peers And when he was leader of his club and yet so alone. I felt for him. Such a great read but not a stand alone. Read the first books to fully grasp this evil, complex man who made his own destiny.
What do you get when a baby boy is born to a prostitute and a priest and shown nothing but hate - Kyle!
Kyle aka Hades was a soulless creature that walked the earth in an effort to make others hurt as much as he did. He knew nothing else and craved it daily. The only emotion he could muster, other than hate, was pity for his drug addicted mother who professed her hatred for him often.
When a child is not shown even a morsel of love they turn out to be a demon and Kyle fit his role perfectly.
He is the nemesis to Rider and the Renegade MC, selling hard core drugs, trafficking women for sex and being the quintessential bad boy. No evil deed was beyond him. Once he kidnaps and destroys Zara's will he thinks he has won, but then Rider and the boys come to her rescue almost killing him in the process.
His need for revenge is his down fall and it comes swiftly at the hands of Hawk! Ironically, Hades knows a secret about Hawk that he takes to his grave, one I figured out early in the story. I look forward now to reading the next book that features Hawk. I wonder if the secret will be revealed from the grave.
I gotta say that I feel a little guilty when an evil person is made into a sympathetic character. It’s so much easier to dislike them when there’s no background to compensate for their behavior. This story is a conundrum for the nature versus nurture debate. Kyle had two shitty parents. I mean they’re so bad that they really don’t even qualify for that title. He is raised in such a haphazard manner that it’s practically a miracle that he grew to adulthood. So which defined his personality? Biology or how he was reared? Two strikes from birth against becoming a decent human being.
This was an intriguing tale of Kyle/Hades’ gradual descent into madness. Was it inevitable? Considering his childhood, adolescence and young adulthood, I’d say yes. He probably didn’t have an inkling of how to make good choices.
I also wonder if there would have been a different outcome had he been allowed to prospect for the Renegade Souls. Rider played a large role in his being thrown out of the club so I’m going to hold him accountable for at least part of Hades’ downfall.
Sweet Love stars I'm writing this while I'm still in my emotions about it!!! All I know is I shouldn't love Hades, but I did. God, did the author make me feel for that little boy and then teenager. Every single emotion for the neglected monster. He was so chillingly cold but yet my heart ached for him.
This can't be read alone. you won't know his present story before you read his back story. we already know what happened to Hades in the end. this isn't a romance, though I felt it had elements woven in, although his brand is love is very dark and controlling, I did think he had so many chances to be GOOD. He frustrated me even though I knew his outcome I so wanted it to be different.
What an amazing antagonist Hades was and I'm so glad the author gave us this insight to his life to better understand him. It's a great companion to the Renegade Souls series, with easter eggs and revelations for fans of the books. a secret I did not see coming either!
This book said somewhere to not read until after book 4 even though it's labeled as book 3.5 so I waited.... you don't need to... read it as it's labeled.
I enjoyed this book as it wasn't over half being sex. Oh there's some but not much....it also wasn't much consensual sex.
If you have started this book as a series you know how and why Hades, Kyle died. You might wonder why bother reading when you know what happens. Trust me you need to read this book.
Kyle never really had a chance....oh he did but didn't at the same time. He was born from a prostitute and a rapist priest. Yeah he never went to school and nobody ever said a good word to him so no wonder he turned out like a monster. Biggest problem was he was smart especially street smart. I would like to know later down the line if his girl in the Hummer had his baby or not.... we'll have to wait and see.
When I read about Hades in the other books in this series, I was curious as to why his character was how he was. Pure evil. As you read his story, you come to understand how, based on his upbringing and life in general. While I had no sympathy for him, his story completely mesmerized me from beginning to end. This story is not for the faint of heart. There are parts that made me cringe, close my eyes and hold my breath. But I must say, I truly enjoyed this story and am in awe of this authors writing. She took a hated character and made you actually like him, believe it or not. I love this entire series and if you are an MC lover, then read all the books in order and save Hades for last. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
Very intense. Told completely from Hades’ viewpoint, starting as he is dying (not exactly news this happens since this is to be read after book 3) and flashing back to his much earlier life and coming back to the end. I was left with so many “what if’s” about his choices and how things could have been different for him. He was a true product of his upbringing surroundings. Great look into the mind of a true bad guy.
Not sure where my original review went, but this book is among my FAVORITES so here I am again!! This is an amazing story of an awful man. I love him, well I love what he could have become. This book shows how and why he ended up where he is in life and gives a painful glimpse to what could have been. I cannot recommend this book and his story enough. It's not pretty, but it's a d*mn good ride.
Oh my word. Hades. What can I say. Not his fault he turned out the way he did. He was born of demon parents. They created the monster. But he had choices, and he made the bad ones. May he rot in hell
Good lord. I knew going into this what the outcome would be yet I read it anyway. What I didn't know was that there would be so many things learned that will alter future stories. Well played. I am officially addicted to reading this series to the end.
I am still not sure how I discovered this author but I am not complaining because I love her.
Updated 10/2/19 I just reread this again because I purchased the paperback. It really is a heartbreaking story. I wish that it hadn't played out this way because I truly wanted Kyle to be redeemable but the cards were stacked against him. The Paperback is stunning. The print is smaller than I normally see in paperbacks so it felt longer. The cover is stunning as is the formatting.
Hades was a monster. There's no denying that. This twisted, beautiful at times and always compelling book by Ms. Theia is without a doubt is one of my favorite books by V., it's also one of my favorite books of all time! Everyone has a story. This man lives two. I will never stop rereading Hades.🌟
The story of Hades is utter darkness and evil. It is a story with answers to questions that I didn't even know I had. This author once again impressed me with the way she pens a tale and immerses the reader into a whole different world.
