When Knights attack the town of Skystead, seventeen-year-old Pela is the only one to escape. Her mother and the other villagers are taken, accused of worshiping the False Gods. They will pay the ultimate price – unless Pela can rescue them.
Pela has never left the safety of her town, let alone touched a sword. What chance does she have against the ruthless Knights of Alana? She’s not a hero.
But she knows one.
Her uncle Devon was a mighty warrior once, in times when magic filled the world. Age has withered his strength and he retired long ago, but maybe he will answer the call of family.
Can Pela convince him to stand against the darkness one last time?

What a wonderful adventure. I really liked following Pela through her adventures. It was a wonderful story of light and dark. I am glad light won out in the end. I hope there is more about Pela and her adventures in the new age.
Another amazing series! It is good to be back in the Three Nations and to meet with the characters again... though many years passed and the characters changed. And they may still change through the books... The twists in the story will often take your breath away and there may be some screams of surprise :). As usual, the author managed to develop the story in a way that once you read the start of the book, you cannot stop reading it!
