Burns Brothers #3

Fated to His Alpha

Rate this book

Jed watched his brothers get mated and can’t help wondering when it’ll be his turn. When his best friend, Parker, blows back into town after years away, Jed feels instantly pulled to him. Just like when they were kids.

The only problem is Jed’s a wolf and Parker’s a human. There’s no way his pack will let them be together.

When Parker moves back to his hometown, he’s reminded of just how dull it is. The only bright spot is his best friend, Jed. But the childish crush he had before is growing. They’re just friends though and that’s not going to change.

Jed’s wolf wants to claim Parker as his own. Will fate be strong enough? Can a wolf and a human have a future together?

Jed I liked but Parker not so much, he seemed selfish and I would have liked to know why he felt the need the leave his home town and best friend Jed in the first place.

For me, best of 3 but errors galore

I liked the first and preferred the second book and I looked forward to enjoying it just as much but dear God... whatever happened to editing/proofreading?!

In book one we had Emmett, in two we had Emmett and Emmet and in this we had Emmett and Emmitt...

In one there was Jed and in book two we had his full name, in book three we had Jed, Jedidiah, Jedediah Jade and Jack... seriously it's awful and then in Chapter 4 each paragraph begins with the formatting of an opening paragraph of a new chapter!

All in all, I've done my best to overlook the comedy of errors this book is and can say that I enjoyed this the most even though it was really hard work!

Cute trilogy, with extremely low angst. Could benefit from one more edit. It’s just a matter of using the wrong word, (I.e. I bought the farm and in celebration I brought some cake) it’s stuff exactly like that.

The first book in this series is still my favorite. As with the second book, there were elements in this one that I thought were a bit too melodramatic and over the top. Just communicate with each other! Sheesh.

Also, I don’t get how humans know of alpha, beta, omega roles but just not shifters?

Nice read

I’m going to be honest I liked the story, but the bold initial in the begging of each paragraph on one chapter was very distracting, I couldn’t focus had to turn some pages on.

Best yet

This was my favorite of the trilogy. A lot less angst than the others and some fun twists as well.

2.5 stars.

“The only problem is Jed’s a wolf and Parker’s a human. There’s no way his pack will let them be together.” Why? Jed’s pack is his immediate family and from what I’ve seen they’d be thrilled for him to have a partner, shifter or human. This is confusing and doesn’t seem to match the precious two novellas.

Somehow there are more grammar and spelling errors in this book than the previous two. Also more inconsistencies. And it has that thing I disliked where a character very familiar with their world has never heard of something crucial as a way to introduce the reader to it.

The TPE with Parker and Jed wasn’t my thing. Parker has a history of substance abuse so his parents have a conservatorship over him, and Parker agrees he makes bad decisions so he hands them all over to Jed. Which is fine if that’s what he wants, but it was not my favorite to read and for me a little bland.

It has a happy ending but this wasn’t my favorite of the trilogy.

I shouldn't be this confused about worldbuilding in book 3

If I were to just base my rating on the characters, I would have given this book 4.5 stars, but there were some really big issues that I had with the descriptions of Parker being human.

Are all humans betas? Why would Parker be described as a beta so much, rather than simply human? Since Parker didn't seem to need an explanation of A/B/O society, is that common in this world? Which then leads to my next question, why didn't Parker, as a human, have to hide his pregnancy from other humans? There's been no strong indication, in any of these books, that human men can give birth, but maybe I can think of one scene in the first book where it was sort of implied...? Needless to say, this caused a lot of confusion, on my part, and took away from my enjoyment of this book.

3.7 Stars Reckless

Not my favorite of the three books were left unanswered. Questions / concerns were left unanswered / inadequately addressed. It was an interesting story pulling in the family members (and friends) of the Burns Brothers & their mates. But there were too many secrets deliberately known & kept causing consternation, tensions, and questioning levels of trust, as well as the true meaning of friendship.

Poor decision-making abounds. Parents play a big role in determining their lives and future decision-making of their children. No one seemed to truly understand the consequences of their actions until it was too late. The main characters didn't always come across as sympathetic. Luckily there's a HEA and determination led to finally reaching it. The story didn't flow as smoothly as the other two though it did have moments of clarity & acceptance.

The third book in the Burns Brothers series with Jed and Parker the main Characters, they were best friends as children and grew up together but their friendship faded when Parker moved away. There has always been an attraction between them, and with Parker's return to the town where he grew up both of the main characters are keeping secrets. The twist in this book is that Parker is human and I felt that we could have more details about that than was in the story.
I liked Jed, and the build up in the previous books to his craving for a family but I didn't really feel any connection between the main characters which I think was down to Parker just not being very interesting.
This is my least favourite book of the series.

The errors in this book are painful to witness. It’s a short book, proofreading shouldn’t be so difficult. I mean chapter 4 is like a joke, I actually thought the error was with my kindle app but I’ve seen others mention the problem in this chapter. I enjoyed the stories in all 3 books but not even getting names right? I expect better.

Good ending

I'm presuming that there are only three books in this series as there are only three brothers. This story is well told. The human element makes it a bit different from the first two. Nice story.

I loved the last book in this series. Getting to see all of the other couples made these feel like a found family book except they’re actually brothers. Ugh I love friends to lovers and just wanted these books to be longer because of how much I love them!! Go read this entire series!!!

Interesting read

I loved Jed and Parker and seeing the whole family but I was very confused for most of the book. Glad to see they figured it all out ended up together.

Brilliant

Again I really enjoyed this book sad to see the series end. I would love to see a spinoff with some of the characters previously mentioned through out the series

Ok

Sadly I can’t give this more than three stars as it needs some serious editing which is a damn shame as this has been a great series so far but chapter 4 is almost unreadable and Jed’s name changes at leat 4 times. The premise is great but like I said needs an good edit

Fated to His Alpha is the third book in the Burns Brothers series by author Skyler Snow. This is the first time I have read this series and I was not lost at all.
Jed is excited to see Parker back in town. His wolf was worried. Usually when people came to town it was to announce something big like getting married or having a baby. When he is near Parker it is electric. He is an Alpha to the pack, but he is a man around Parker. He is also a vet.
Parker has always had feelings for Jed. He has had some trouble in New York. His first thought was to contact Jed. He needs Jed to help him on his new ranch. Doesn’t think Jed will feel the same he does about him. He is human and can an Alpha take a human mate?
I loved these two together. They are what the other needs. They have a chemistry that just leaps off the page. I really loved watching them fall in love. I cannot wait for more from this series and see who falls in love next.

Jed has been watching from the sidelines, seeing his brothers find their fated mates and starting their families, secretly hoping and praying for his own turn.
When his best friend Parker returns from New York and tells him he's back home to stay, it ignites hope in him that he keeps to himself for fear of damaging their friendship.
Parker feels the same way and also keeps it secret for the same reasons.
He's also running from trouble in his past and ashamed of letting Jed know he's a failure, which is how he views himself.
He buys a farm and animals, sight unseen and and without any knowledge of how to run it.
Jed is a veterinarian and Parker calls on him for help.
Jed is disappointed in what he views as Parker's flightiness and Parker feels as though he's being treated treated like a child incapable of running his own life.
When they give in to temptation and begin a relationship, things seem to finally be settling into place.
Until everything goes wrong.
Jed makes a mistake and it causes irrevocable changes that affect Parker.
He fears telling him the truth and holds off until it's almost too late.
Finally, the truth is revealed and they work through their issues to have both their dreams come true for a HEA.

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:
A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series
from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year),
it's like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok)
It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the
whole line, dismissed, repeat the class

Enjoyed this last entry to the series it was a sweet ending. I liked this pairing better-than-expected it took a Different Twist and best friend it was more like the screw-up and the stern but patient mate. I like the Dynamics between these two great chemistry and push and pull. Again a little bit fast with instant love and the two falling it to bed fairly quickly but they did incorporate the history of the couple little bit more on this one which helped sell it. Two ningles, fairly early into the book there was a name mix-up between Jed and Jared, the author mixed them up. Also it was a little confusing as there were ABO Dynamics in the story but apparently despite one of the characters being a beta he didn't know anything about wolves. Confusing and never truly clarified but but didn't detract from the story. Hope this author intends to write more I enjoyed this!

Fated To His Alpha by Skyler Snow is the third book in the Burns Brothers series. It delivers on angst, steam and sweet true love. Jed and Parker have been friends since childhood, held secret feelings for each other that not even time spent far apart from each other has quelled. They are fantastic characters and I loved watching them evolve from friends to lovers to mates.

I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

The end?

Wow, I can't believe this is the last Burns book. It feels like we'd just started and now we're here. Jedidiah finally got his chance to shine and while there were quite a few grammar issues and the whole thing with the alpha voice was a bit strange and new, the book was overall very good. Parker had been through a lot and he and Jed are keeping things from each other but it all ends well enough. Definitely a quick sweet read.

So I have read all of these books. Not one of them is the same. They all grab you and you hold on till the end. This one like the others, I just couldn't put it down. I will be reading this group again and again. I think it's one anyone will enjoy.

I loved this series and this book. I wish there were more brothers so that it could continue. I loved Jed and Parker together. He was just what Parker needed....a firm hand. The author did an amazing job with this book and this series. I hate to see it end.

This is the third book for the Burns brothers and we get to see Jed as he reconnects with his human friend from 10 yrs ago. But humans can't be part of the pack. So how do you fight your feelings. Super cute read. Would recommend this series for some hot m/m and a cute love stories
