What a wild ride this has been. The ups and downs Evie Kady has taken me on have been wild. And I have had some harsh words for her books. But this was her redemption. This was her longest, and there was a lot to unpack in this book. It starts right where the last book left off. Tarek gets arrested, Kat makes a decision to finally go home to her dad and spend some time trying to heal her trauma. She does go through the stages of grief through the book, and we get to see her process her anger, depression and finally, her acceptance. The guys do surround her, shower her with love, and this does help her heal and find herself again.
After Kat gets home on the farm, the guys go through their own growth and figure out who they want to be.
Tarek: I really didn't like him at first, but his redemption is so beautiful. He deals with his past abuse and grows to flourish. His arc is so beautiful.
Connon: He is difficult. He can be selfish like a lot of men at times, and he does shut everyone else out. He's the youngest and the most immature. He does eventually catch up with everyone else in the end, but I just don't love him the way I do the others.
Seth: I adore Seth, and his confidence just grew, and he finds himself outside. Music is so beautiful. I love the way he blossoms. I cherished his every moment.
Leon: He just mellowed out, and his self-confidence grew, and I found that to be hot. The way he just embraced who he is, and I think Tarek helped him in that journey. The two of them have such an energy between them and you could feel it on the pages.
I found what the band became in this book and how the band finally stayed true to who they always were. They found themselves, they remembered what they'd lost, and they understood what mattered. They realized that LOVE was what they'd always been missing.
Sadly, Adam is still a big part of this story. I didn't want to like his character. He is arrogant, entitled, and fake. He wears a mask, and honestly, I don't think he truly knows who he is anymore. There is nothing in him that is redeemable. At the same time though, I see what he has been through, I can see what he would be like without his mask and I do see the small step that he takes, to try and nope, I take it back, he just can't be forgiven. He can just be accepted as a jackass. Kat finds with the love and trust of the guys that she is truly a strong and confident woman. She accepts herself for who she is, and she stops trying to be someone she isn't. She even stops wearing dresses.
The final book of the series is finally a hot, hot spicy book, and it builds the MM scenes. It's the last few chapters that are really the spicy group scenes. Even the epilogue gives us a quick look at how everyone is doing down the road. Getting the chance to see all the different POVs is great. I wanted to see more from them all. Maybe even a chapter or two from Stella? (Please don't hate me.)
Overall, this was the redemption I was hoping for. This was the writing that I wanted for the entire series. I know that this was supposed to be a rock-band reverse harem, and in some ways, it is that. But, it is actually more than that in the end. In the end, it shows us the best and the worst parts of life, love, and it shows us the hope that pushes us forward.
Sure, I am sad to see it end, I love where our character's ended up and how they were emotionally. It ended up on a high note. In some ways, I wish that this band really existed. I plan to read more from this author in the future. She is on my favorite list. As I am fond of saying, I am sorry to see it end but so happy that it happened.
