If you want a job done right, Sometimes you just have to do it yourself.
Josslyn ‘Joss’ Rockwell has worked at the Day and Night Diner for fifteen years, and it grinds her gears a bit to have to take over a catering job when a coworker behaves in a decidedly unprofessional manner.
Things are going well for the seasoned server, until a murder turns everything upside down. Suddenly, everyone seems to be secretive, mysterious, or outright lying and Joss has to race against the clock to make sense of it all.
Just when the amateur sleuth thinks that she has everything all figured out… she discovers just how wrong she is, and questions not only herself and her judgement, but even her relationships.
Mired in the midst of a mystery where the clues are scarce and the people are sketchy, Joss wonders whether she’ll be able to solve it in time and get her life back on track.
This is a great book! Joss and a co-worker are on the outs again and Joss winds up doing a catering job by herself. The next day a body is found. I enjoyed this book so much I couldn’t put the book down. The author did a fantastic job at keeping me absorbed!
Once again Joss is at the right place but the wrong time, who knew catering a business event would end in murder. Not only that but everything is out of sync - the police suspect she might have had something to do with the murder, her boyfriend is having lunch with an unknown woman, Dina isn't speaking to her so she's leaving post-it messages everywhere - the whole world is upside down but in the end the murderer is caught, the strange woman is actually her boyfriend's sister and Dina saves Joss' life and they are now friends. Great read.
Joss has to take over a catering job when one of her co-workers flakes out. Things with the job are going well, until she finds a body. This one is testing her skills as a sleuth and her judgment. She does dig in, however, to get to the bottom on the murder and finds that her skills are just as good as they ever were
The murder didn't take place until 50% into the book but I still enjoyed it because it felt like coming home because I already knew alot of the people from the first book.
I already wrote on Amazon and for some reason it will not SHOW up on overheads anymore. Don't know what happened!! This book is great you should read it, it has so many twists and turns. Don't want to spoil it for you. Read what I wrote on Amazon.
Not my favorite story from this author. It had some nice touches and it built nicely...'til the end. Climax and resolution - much too quick for the build-up. IMHO.
This is not the first book in the new series and it feels comfortable to just jump into the story. The character are more familiar after having already read the first book so it flows very easily. I really like that Joss and Dina have become friends. I'm sad that this book seems so short but a lot is packed neatly into the story. The story is good, well written with lots of excitement.
This is such a great new series. The characters are delightful and the storyline is well plotted and interesting.
In this second book of the series Joss is determined to figure out who killed her catering client. I was surprised by who the killer turned out to be and I bet you are too!
This book is a quick, fun read, perfect for a little break. The mystery is well crafted and the characters are quirky and even a little snarky at times. All in all, this is a really enjoyable cozy.
5 stars again. Gretchen has created a really cool new series using an old theme .A diner! Joss is like a bloodhound when she has a clue about a murder and stops at nothing until she solves it. I can't wait for the next book and more about Joss.
Really like this book. It brought the characters together, had a murder and a few suspects. Thought I knew who did it, but the author made me second guess myself so this was great.
