Married couple Jasmine and Basil are bored. A new trilogy from the author of the swinger series Husbands and Wives and Adults Only!
Sex is still good but has a predictable pattern that makes Jasmine want to scream, and not in a good way. It’s hard for her to keep up the bedroom banter when she’s so tired that an episode of Outlander can’t even keep her attention.
Basil feels like a broken record, always asking for sex of a wife who would rather catch a few extra zzzs. He loves his wife and their life together but wants a little more of both.
Every summer, they head to Aurora Resort with friends, a magical place where they can sleep in the sun and drink wine while someone else looks after the kids. Jas knows they’ll find their way back to each other, but this year, it’s not her husband who catches her attention as they relax at the lake.
Wyatt is big and brawny, with muscles that quickly invade her fantasies and a sweet smile that sends her stammering to make conversation. To make it worse, his wife Carson is sexy and fun and easily befriends Jasmine. But it’s not all friendship and girl time Carson wants. She sees the way Jasmine looks at Wyatt, and it’s a good thing because she and Wyatt are swingers looking for a new couple to play with.
And they think they are perfect to help Jas and Bas bring the sexy back to their marriage.
Will this be a summer of sin, or can the swingers really help Jas and Bas save their marriage?
I thought it started out a little too slow but when the heat was turned up, it went all the way up. Hopefully these couples - especially Jas & Bas - communicate better with each other before embarking on another adventure. Happy endings require understanding / communication and release. *wink* I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I find books that explore polyamory generally turn out to be interesting. One Summer is a good example of that type of book. Overall, I found this to be an entertaining read.
The story focuses on Jasmine and Basil, one of two 30-something couples (with kids) who visit a lakeside summer vacation camp. They have a good marriage. However, due to their small kids interrupting them during intimate moments, plus their over-familiarity with each other in bed, both characters consider dabbing their toes into the "wild side" to spice things up.
At the summer camp, Jasmine and Basil meet Carson, a beautiful mature woman, and her hunky (and younger), firefighter husband, Wyatt. When Jasmine first lays eyes on Wyatt standing on a dock in the lake showing off his magnificent body, she becomes immediately obsessed with him. Carson notices Jasmine's interest, then reveals that she and her husband are swingers. She hints to Jasmine that she would be fine if she wanted to sleep with Wyatt. When Wyatt meets Jasmine, he's instantly smitten with her, too. Wyatt and Jasmine discover that they share intense passion between them. Their intimate scenes together are the best ones in the book.
Another couple, Claire and Billy, who are friends with Jasmine and Basil, are also at the camp. Claire quickly gets pulled into Carson's swinging scene. Claire and Basil have been carrying torches for each other for some time, which leads to them sleeping together first. Later, Carson asks Claire and Basil to go to her cabin. There, three of them have a rollicking good time together.
Anyway, the three couples ended up having a great time. The husbands and wives had no jealousy about their extramarital erotic adventures. Everyone went home happy.
This book should have been a stand-alone. However, the author decided to turn this into a 3-book series. I also read the second book, One Week, and found it wasn't paced very well, was less believable, had too many characters, and the spice scenes were passionless and dull.
In summary, One Summer is a very sexy story. It's very high on the 'spice scale', but it doesn't sink down into debauchery like so many erotic novels tend to do. It's a good, quick, fun read.
I came across this author’s books a year or so ago. I remember spending an entire afternoon to evening reading the Interludes series and then reading Husbands and Wives. I purchased the boxed sets and added both series to my tbr again list. My one and only criticism of this book is the author went to great lengths to include all the safety features of the Aurora Resort but when Jasmine went into the woods with the baby monitor I immediately came out of my book haze and went directly to Madeline McCann and my enjoyment level lessened. Anna Ellis writes polyamory very well, she walks a fine line keeping romance out of the equation. This was brought home to me again in the scene in the woods where I thought, like Jasmine, how romantic Wyatt was and then Wyatt’s 180 when Billy arrived. Bas is a truly interesting character as is Claire. Only Billy and Carson are somewhat unknown to me but it’s a trilogy. I believe Carson’s warning regarding Matt and I’m looking forward to reading it if it plays out.

Perhaps our couple should have read the resort literature more carefully, but then they might not have ended up at a swingers resort.
This is book one of the series, so no worries there.
This is novella length erotic story featuring partner swapping. As with everything else I have read by the author, the story is well written, easy to read and very steamy. The characters are also well developed and realistic, which makes the entire scene come together. The plot is easy to follow and I loved watching the chemistry build between our characters all the way to the steamy conclusion. Overall, a very enjoyable read and I look forward to the next book in the series.
Highly recommended.

Jasmine and Basil are happily married but their sex life has hit a rut. It feels like its patterned. They are heading back to Aurora Resort this summer where they are just a couple with no kids or responsibilities. This will allow them to refocus on themselves. Little does Jasmine and Basil know that Wyatt and Carson will become more than friends and introduce them to something that will definitely heat and shake up their pattern. A well written, great story of a struggling couple who still love one another but their love making was falling short. Enjoy!

One Summer is the first book in the It Only Takes One series. This is a sexy little romp through one couples vacation with their friends and all the unexpected events that happen. It seems that their vacation is not at any regular resort.........nope this is a swingers resort, which they were not aware of beforehand. But as the saying goes "when in Rome do as the Romans do". They will not just be laying in the sun and getting a tan this year.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
I've read a lot of books written by Anna Ellis; she has done a great job at writing another good book; she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of books her books.

Beginning of a series. Two couples and their children go to their favorite resort, which they have gone to every year for the past five years. Though meeting another couple, they find that it has been a swingers resort all along. Good character development and different concept. Fun had by all. Steamy and lots of action.
I loved this story. It is the kind that you can identify with the characters and immerse yourself in the story. Very well written and characters to win the heart make this book a must read.

barsinister@mail.com I thoroughly enjoyed this very sexy read, and managed to take my time so that it didn't end too quickly. Lot's of explicit sex, but varied too, to suit different tastes! Just about to read the next one!
I really enjoyed One Summer. The book is well written with detailed and relatable characters. It is interesting and easy to read. This is a sexy, steamy book.
Book one of a trilogy, this one focuses on the marriage of Jasmine and Basil, which has gone a bit stale. Each year they vacation at a resort with their kids and other friends of theirs. This year, however, they discover the resort is not exactly what they'd thought all these years.
This was a fun look at couples and relationships, with characters who were willing to give anything a go to better their marriages.
