Rate this book
A billionaire undercover boss.
A single mom who's totally off limits.
Temptation never looked so sweet...

Cy Sweet has always been the black sheep of his family, which is probably why he was chosen to go Undercover Boss in Sweetopia, his family's theme park. Enticed by his father's bribe, he dons an apron to serve pastries in Cotton Candy Castle, one of the park's most popular attractions.

He's tempted to blow his cover when he meets The Red Velvet Queen. Sure, she's a costumed character and the jewels in her crown are fake, but she's absolutely breathtaking. His desire only grows when he invents a baker's dozen reasons to visit her every day...enough visits to discover her sweetness comes with a side of spice.

But they're both in disguise. The Queen is actually single mom Jolie Cox, who relentlessly struggles to make a living for herself and her sons. And Cy is actually her boss, not to mention heir to the corporate empire she despises.
What will happen when their identities are finally unmasked?

Sugar & Spice is Book 1 of the Spicetopia Series. Though the series can be read in any order, here is the preferred reading order:

I am very familiar with this author as I have read many of her books so I kind of had an idea of what I would be getting with her writing style and characterization. This one did not disappoint me. I couldn’t put it down. In fact, let’s just say that I finished it in about 5 hours today. I am always able to relate to the characters that she writes about to the point I feel like I personally know them. And I love books like that. I love her way of writing such steamy , sometimes graphic, sex scenes. This one was no different, so I highly recommend only if you are mature and into this kind of writing. If not, you could easily fast forward through those pages and still enjoy the book. Which I do recommend. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one of her books I pick up.

Sugar & Spice is the first book in the Spicetopia series. I really enjoyed this book, being a little different than her other books made me want to see what it was all about. Let’s just say I was pleasantly surprised; I shouldn’t have been because I enjoy her other books.
Spicetopia is a place for adults to vacation and have fun in an “adult” setting. It is original, it is fun, it is sexy, it is steamy, and you will need more than a long drink to cool down.

Cy is on orders to infiltrate the enemy, the works at his parent’s theme park but as time goes on, he realises just who is the enemy. However, when he meets the queen of Spicetopia, he can’t get her out of his mind. Will he join the fight and get the girl?

Jolie is a hard-working woman who works two jobs just to scrape by. When a certain young man comes to work, she can’t get him out of her head, but it can never be that is until he wears her down, but will he really still want her when he learns her secrets?
It is set in an adult theme park where anything goes. If you like something oh so sexy, spicy and erotic, steaming and exciting then this is a book you should grab and dive right in.

Sugar & Spice is the first book in the Spicetopia series by Phoebe Alexander. I should have known what I was getting myself into by the title alone, but some of the scenes caught me off guard. I love romance books as much as the next girl, but found this one a little too graphic. I'm not saying its a bad book, because I really enjoyed the story itself and plan to continue the series. Just readers be warned, it is not... should we say PG. Very hot scenes unfold a couple times. Some love that, but not my thing.
I enjoyed the characters, as they have depth. Jolie is a single mother, who dresses up cosplay for a theme park. However, she has her secrets, and isn't as innocent as she appears. Cy on the other hand is a spoiled brat, being the youngest in his family, and will inherit millions. While he can get any girl he wants, and often has, he surprises himself by lusting after Jolie. But will their lust and physical connection morph into something more? Once they find out the whole truth about each other, will they bail? Read to find out!

This book was a great weekend read!
From the very first page i was drawn in and i couldn't get enough.
The main characters are what made this book great!
Jolie is a single mom who works extremely hard to take care of her family. One of her jobs is at a very sugary amusement park called Sweetopia. She dresses as the Red Velvet Queen and quickly catches the attention of Cy who works in the Cotton Candy Castle Bakery. Cy has been sent in undercover to work for his family's company and is quickly distracted by the beautiful Red Velvet Queen. Will Jolie be upset when she finds out the lies Cy has told to go undercover at the company? Or will her own secrets come out in the open and be the reason they don't work out?
Over all i really liked this story. I thought the going undercover trope was a great one. I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future and i would recommend this to anyone looking for a very sweet read!

Sugar & Spice is the first book in the Spicetopia series by Phoebe Alexander. I really loved this book, it is a little different from her other books- but with the same sexy flare we have come to expect from Ms. Alexander.
Cy is on an undercover mission at his family’s theme park. He has a job to do and there is quite a bit at stake. But he’s thrown off-kilter when he meets the delectable Jolie.
Jolie has a few secrets of her own. She works two jobs trying to make ends meet- taking care of her responsibilities is her number one priority. Sparks fly and the heat rises. But what happens when secrets are revealed? You really need some Sugar & Spice in your life to find out all the delicious details for yourself!
After such a sublime introduction to the Spicetopia world, I’m really looking forward to the rest of the series!!!

Thank you, Ms. Alexander!

I have read a couple of books from this author and she continues to surprise me. This is the first book of a brand new series that I can’t wait to read more about. When I got this book I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I could not put this book down. It only took me a few hours to devour this amazing story.

Cy Sweet is nothing like his family. When his dad tells him to go undercover to see who is orchestrating a strike against their theme park he does it. Cy is assigned to work in the cotton candy castle which is one of the most popular spots in the theme park. He learns quickly that Sweetopia is nothing but sweet. Cy is ready to blow his cover when he meets the beautiful queen of the land. He wants to get to know her but he knows he can’t let his family down. Will Cy find out who is behind it all and when he does what will he do?

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander

I have had the pleasure of reading several books by Ms. Alexander and have a certain expectation when I start one of her books.  I'm happy to report I wasn't disappointed with this book.

I thought the book taking place at a theme park was amazing and something new at least for me.

I love Jolie and her story is sad and empowering at the same time.  She was willing to do whatever it takes to provide for her sons and she did just that.

Cy wasn't the most likeable in the beginning, but there was a shift in him as the story progressed and by the end I loved him.

Once again Ms. Alexander delivers a great book which I will continue to expect from her.  Looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia #1) by Phoebe Alexander - Review by Randall Murphy

This book is full of interesting characters and plot lines. It’s “Undercover Boss” meets Harlequin Romance and “Exit to Eden” with a bit of standing up for employee rights. While that may sound convoluted and twisted, it’s actually pieced together in a way that grabs your interest and has you hoping the right decision is made by Cy and that Jolie forgives him. While this isn’t like most of the romances that I’ve read, it definitely was one that I enjoyed and found myself wondering what the next volume in the series would be about.

Another amazing, heated story by this talented author!

Kind of reminded me of the TV show "Undercover Boss" with a unique romantic twist. I enjoyed reading the behind the scenes antics that go on at amusement parks that we as visitors never see. I also enjoyed the mystery twist on the story.

I can't wait to read more of this series, especially sine this is just the beginning!

Phoebe Alexander created an amazing, suspenseful romance in this story. Cyrus Sweet had spent as much of his time pursuing his dreams while he was in college. He wanted to become an artist and had secured a place in a program where he would learn from his idol, Krstiph Kostopolous, in Greece. However, his brothers and parents had other plans. Corden and Ophelia Sweet own Sweetopia, a family-oriented theme park. They had learned that a possible strike was stirring in the company. Cyrus was told he had to find the ringleaders to keep his inheritance. Corden also offered $25,000 as an incentive. Reluctantly, Cyrus agreed, as long as he could go to Greece.

Cyrus is the persona of Marcus Young, a British graduate student in art history. As a seasonal temporary employee, he was assigned to Bard’s Bakery. He had heard his brothers discussing the new Red Velvet Queen as being hot. When he took a look at the woman, he was automatically intrigued. He introduced himself to her as Marcus, and the attraction was obviously shared.

Jolie works as the Red Velvet Queen by day and a paid dominatrix in the evenings. She has to support her mother and two sons. River was a special needs child with cystic fibrosis who was often in the hospital. While Sweetopia had benefits, their health insurance was shabby, and they paid her $5.00 an hour without overtime. She didn’t want a relationship, but after meeting Marucs, she thought it would be okay to have a little fun during the summer.

Frequent trysts in Jolie’s dressing room have Cyrus feeling guilty about deceiving her about his identity. When he learns of a meeting, he struggles to decide what to do. Should he tell his parents about the impending press conference calling for a strike and boycott of Sweet Enterprises? If he doesn’t do what they demand, he is going to lose his inheritance and trip to Greece. Likewise, he had grown attached to several employees and the beguiling Jolie.

Phoebe brings equal parts sweetness and spice to this novel. The plot is unpredictable, and the points of view of Cyrus and Jolie provide their personal views in vivid detail. Alternating between Cyrus and Jolie was done smoothly, making the transitions effortless. I couldn’t put this book down as I followed the two protagonists, who kept secrets from one another. Their romance blossoms at work while they face impossible odds that could potentially pull them apart. The suspense builds to a climactic scene that I prayed would turn out positively. Sugar & Spice is the first book in the Spicetopia series. I recommend this five-star book to romance readers who like connecting with the characters in a steamy, forbidden romance novel.

Cy Sweet is the youngest son of the Sweet family, owners of the Sweetopia family friendly theme park, he is one of three and is a typical young man who lives his life without any worries about money, just where he can next go study architecture, the arts and anything else which takes his fancy, he is always thought of as the lazy one by his family, someone who doesn't really contribute anything and now he is being told that he has to start pulling his weight. Jolie Cox is a woman with a family of her own, with two sons and lives with her mum and they are a very close family, she does everything she can to look after them, including working long hours at two jobs and making ends meet, her main job being at Sweetopia, playing their main character the Red Velvet Queen.

One day, the Sweets hold a family meeting where Cy is told that there is a rebellion forming within Sweetopia and that rumours of strikes and boycotts have come to the families attention, so Cy is told that he is going in undercover to try and work out who the ringleaders are, how they are being organised and where, so he dons a disguise and is sent into the bakery as a seasonal temp so that he can find out the information his family wants and he also has a strict time limit to find this all out. Meanwhile, Jolie is having to organise her work hours so that she can care for her son who is having to go into hospital again so that he can get his treatment for his Cystic Fibrosis, as well as looking after her other son between appointment in her second job and it is exhausting for her, not to mention the guilt she feels for having to ask her mum for help the whole time.

This is where Cy goes wandering in the employee corridors before his shift and it is also when he meets the Red Velvet Queen for the first time, he is stunned by her and cannot help but sneak into the throne room and pay her a visit and Jolie is immediately taken with him too, he seems to be her ideal type, so when he starts to meet her in her dressing room, she is open to a bit of fun and so is Cy, but neither can afford to become too attached. As the two become better acquainted, Cy is beginning to see things through a new lens and it has him shocked, but will he be able to root out the rebellious coworkers and figure out who the ringleader is and what will happen between himself and Jolie if what they have is built on secrets? This is a steamy romance where secrets and lies are currency and feelings grow in a bed of deceit, but what happens when the truth comes out is something you will have to read through this enticing book to find out.

From page 1 this book reaches out and grabs you. Cy is the heir of of Sweetopia family fortune, an amusement park. He has learned of a few employees trying to organize a strike against his family and goes undercover as a new employee to get to the root of the issue and protect his future. He absolutely does not expect to find the employees so likeable and fun to be around. Jolie is a single mom working 2 jobs trying to keep things moving forward for her young boys (one of them has CF and requires extra care) and is "The Queen" of the theme park - the Red Velvet Queen. She is tired of killing herself for jobs that take and take from their employees instead of looking out for them and starts to reach out amongst her fellow theme park employees.

Her life feels desperate, but things are starting to look up as she creates a following...and then a very handsome fellow employee begins visiting her in her dressing room. Jolie has spent so long taking care of her kids and having that be her focus that she feels she has let herself go. She feels too insecure about what she has to offer, is uncomfortable with what the people in her past have made her feel about her life - her stretchmarks, her child who requires special care, her age, her ability to parent on her own and make good choices, and so much more. But Cy makes her feel strong and sure and desirable. And she makes Cy recognize how many good things there are in life that have nothing to do with his family legacy.
When Jolie learns who Cy really is, will how he made her feel make a difference about his identity? Will Cy be able to fall in love with her and still have a successful family legacy?

This book was so dang good. The characters are so well written and the author knew exactly how to blend them together to improve them. Jolie has so many "every woman" insecurities but knows her strength and ability to persevere. Cy has such a wonderful growth curve in this story and makes an "every woman" feel like the ONLY woman. I really wanted to have this book last me a couple of days but I couldn't put it down and couldn't sleep until I finished it. Heat, chemistry, great world building and relatability to the characters, the fun woven into the storyline - even with the "villians". I can't wait to meet the rest of the Sweet family!

Oh, what spicy sweet bliss this book held within its pages. This is the first book not only of the Spicetopia series but the first book I have read by Phoebe Alexander. To say I wasn’t disappointed would be an understatement. Dual perspectives of Cyrus Sweet and Jolie Cox.
Cy is the youngest son of the Sweet Enterprises company. Given no choice in the matter he is forced to be the undercover boss at his parents’ family theme park, Sweetopia. Rumors of a Rebel Alliance have caused concerns, and they need answers on who to fire to stop it all in its tracks before it goes public. Jolie is the coveted Red Velvet Queen of Sweetopia. While during the day she works at a family theme park as the lead heroine at night she is a dominatrix. Both jobs daily as she fights to make ends meet to support her mom and her two sons, one of which is terminally ill. Marcus Young (Cy), British summer temp worker, immediately he is drawn to Jolie, and she is drawn to him neither understanding the hold the other has over their bodies but embracing the summer fling. In Jolie’s words it’s just for a few months and she’ll never see him again, and she deserved a little fun in her life. Until everything becomes so much more, Cy’s eyes are opened to the reality of the employees under his family’s company, the long hours and little pay or even appreciation. Everything starts to come to light, who he truly is, who the leader is of the rebel alliance, and all the dark truths his parents would prefer to keep hidden are brought to light.
When the time comes will Cy choose the girl or his family? How does Spicetopia come to be? This world isn’t fantasy or anything magical, the characters, the backstories and plots are all plausible in real world lives. The struggles of being a single mom with the added pressure of a sick child. The blinding realities of reality when seen through the perspective of everyday citizens. While the main goal was information for his parents Cy and Jolie both go on missions of discovery, growth, understanding, and more in this sweet and spicy quick read. I cannot wait to see what happens next in book two, Virtue & Vice, with Moon and Katja’s story and more about Cy and Jolie.

This is the first book in the series 'Spicetopia', technically, they can be read in any order as they are individual storylines with interconnecting parts. But I recommend starting with this book and reading in order.

Jolie and Cy have an immediate connection. To bad each other them are hiding major parts of themselves. Cy, the millionaire and son of parents who own the family theme park 'Sweetopia' and Jolie, the single mom that is half family theme park Queen and other half dominatrix.

Cy has his inheritance on the line and agrees to go 'undercover' in the theme park to figure out who the rebel employees are and their plans to go public with horrible information about the Sweet Family, specifically Cy mother and father. Cy is originally under the impression the rebels are lying and just stirring up trouble. He doesn't expect to end up on their side nor to fall in love with the beautiful Queen, Jolie.

Jolie, has been under extreme pressure taking care of his chronically ill son as well as juggling two equally demanding jobs. The Sweets, have horrible health insurance and want a robot more than an employee. She wants to put their ignorance on the live news for everyone to see, but she didn't imagine she'd ever find a wonderful man that makes her feel alive.

They both have secrets and when those secrets are exposed, they are both left wondering what to do next. Will Jolie be able to take care of her family while also enjoying her own life? Will she forgive a man who utterly lied about everything, even his name? Will Cy, chose his blood family or the woman he has fell in love with? How important is money to him?

I absolutely loved this adventure with these two and would recommend this book & series to anyone who wants a spicey romance without the storyline being too heavy.

I was drawn into this storyline right from the start and loved every minute of the book through to the end. Phoebe Alexander's Sugar & Spice has so many unexpected events that you will not want to put the book down! I love how our main character, Jolie, role plays in a sweet factory as The Red Velvet Queen, what a great character that draws in such a huge audience to come and see her. Jolie is the perfect person to fulfill this role, but unfortunately, the pay and the benefits are just not enough for anyone to be able to support their family. This is especially true for Jolie, who is a single mom supporting her two sons, one of whom has a lot of medical problems, as well as her mom who lives with them to help out. Cy is one of the heirs to the Sweetopia business and is sent to go undercover to figure out who is heading up a group of disgruntled employees who are going to the press to disclose the unfair treatment that they feel they are receiving from the business. The second Cy sees Jolie, he falls head over heels in love with her and is torn between doing what his family expects of him or doing what he feels is right for the woman of his dreams. What a dilemma our characters find themselves in, will Cy and Jolie be able to work out their situation and make their relationship work, or will Cy's true identity be too much for Jolie to accept? From the dynamic characters to the realistic descriptions that beautifully draw a picture of Sweetopia theme park, you will feel like you are right there along with the characters experiencing the fun, and magic of such a wonderous place, you can practically smell the divine scents of the baked goods. What a magnificent picture that the author paints for her readers as she draws you into her magical paradise of Sweetopia.

This is a spicy romance between a single mom and an undercover billionaire. Cy Sweet’s family owns a theme park and the family is concerned that their employees are plotting a strike against them. Cy is the free spirit of the family who is being forced to go undercover to find the person responsible for plotting a possible strike. What Cy doesn’t realize is that he would start to like the undercover job (in the bakery), but he would really like his co-workers. One co-worker who has his attention is “The Queen” of the theme park, Jolie Cox. Jolie is a single mother of 2 children and one of them has Cystic Fibrosis. Many of the employees, including Jolie, are coming together to out the company about their lack of pay, benefits, etc. However, she also starts to like Cy or “Marcus” (his undercover name) to the point that they start a little escapade in her dressing room. This romance turns into Cy really wanting to date her and get to know her, even when he finds out about her age, her kids, etc. While Cy is making progress in finding the leader, by getting close to everyone, he also starts to realize that his parents don’t really treat their employees well enough, and that matters to him because he starts to care for these people. Will this change when they all find out who he is? Will he have to choose between family and friends when it comes down to it?
I enjoyed this book. I thought the progression of events were a little unrealistic in how fast the sexual aspect took place and without much questioning. However, all the characters we likeable. I think when it came to Jolie, I gravitated toward her because I also have a child with Cystic Fibrosis. I also like how they fought for what they believed in, but then she also handled all of the craziness well and the storyline wasn’t over-dramatized. I will probably go on to read the others in the series.

Cyrus Sweet (Cy for short) is the youngest of the sweet family. He is known to be a party boy who travels the world on mommy and daddys dime. The Sweet family own a medieval themed theme park called ‘Sweetopia’. Cys parents catch wind that one of their employees is holding secret meetings badmouthing the Sweet family and how they treat those who work for them. Mr. Sweet threatens Cy to go undercover and out those employees or he will be cut off from the family and his inheritance. Cy has no other option if he wants to continue his lifestyle.

He is put undercover as a temp working in the bakery by the name of Marcus and he’s British. Cy meets the Red Velvet queen who works down the hall and is instantly attracted to her. She is gorgeous and he decides right then and there he must have her.

Jolie may play the part of the Red Velvet Queen but in real life she is a single mother of 2 kids, one of which is ill. She has a second job as a dominatrix just to make ends meet. When the new young temp Marcus shows an interest in her, she decides to have some fun with him as the queen because no way would he like the real Jolie right?

The chemistry is strong between the two of them. They are both playing a part so no way can this go outside of the workplace. Jolie hates the Sweet family with a passion, no way would she willingly be with one. At least that's what they keep telling themselves.

This book was steamy without being vulgar. Jolie is caring, sweet, strong, independent and sassy. I love the way she thinks and talks. Since she is 32 years old and a mom, I found her really easy to resonate with. At first I disliked Cys character but after a while and some character growth, I found him adorable and caring. The author did a good job with this trope giving it their own flare.

Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander is the first book in the Spicetopia series and to say that I really enjoyed this book is an understatement! Phoebe has written a story about a hardworking mother who is just trying to make ends meet for her sons, and a hot, rich boy who thinks he's being slick by going in as an undercover boss.
Spicetopia is a place for adults to vacation, relax and have fun in an “adult” setting. It is original, fun, sexy and so much more! After experiencing some time at Spicetopia you will find yourself needing more than an ice-cold drink to cool down!
Cy (rich, hot boy) has orders from his parents to try to discover and infiltrate the enemy, his parents are convinced that the theme park they own is being compromised but have no idea where to start. This is where Cy comes into the story, but as time goes on, Cy realizes just who the true enemy is. However, Cy comes across an unusual situation when he meets the queen of Spicetopia, Jolie, and now he can’t get her out of his mind.
Jolie is a hard-working woman who works two jobs to make sure her sons are taken care of, and even with the two jobs it is just enough to scrape by. Jolie finds herself in a unique situation when a certain young man comes to work. Now she can’t get him out of her head, and it is really messing with her since she has a family to worry about. Jolie really worries about what Cy will think of her when he finds out her secrets.
This is the type of story you can find yourself lost in, this story has a little bit of everything in it, and it makes for a really great read! You will find yourself having a hard time putting down this book once you pick it up to read! Great job Phoebe on writing a great story, I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series!

This is the first book in the Spicetopia series. I have loved this series. The author does any incredible job of mixing a steamy read with characters that are relatable and really bring the stories to life.
This is the first time we meet the Sweet family and their amazing park. This story is about Cy and Jolie.
There is unease at the park, rumours are going around of the staff planning a strike. With that happening the owners decide to send someone undercover to find out who is behind it all. The person is CY.
Dressed as a temp employee and with the additional bonus of a cash reward for finding the person CY takes on the task. He thinks it will be easy and straight forward until he meets Jolie.
Jolie plays the Red Velvet Queen, when she meets "Marcus" she keeps him at arms length. Jolie had secrets that she must keep hidden and working two jobs to take care of her responsibilities but as the spark between them grows she can't keep pushing him away.
Both do them are holding secrets and what will the consequences of those secrets be when they are revealed. Will it tear them apart? And when Cy sees just how the staff are treated by his parents, will Cy carry on the plan his mother and father have sent him to do or will he decide to support the workers and the woman he is falling for?

I loved this steamy romance and I loved watching the character growth of both Jolie and Cy. They are so suited for each other but there are so much between them that they have a lot to overcome if they are going to succeed in a relationship.

This was my first time reading a book by this author. it was a novel that you can read thru very quickly. You knew you were in for a good read when the two main characters first laid their eyes on one another.

I quickly read into Cy's and The Red Velvets Queens attaction. It wsant forced at all and felt very natural but in the sense that left you wanting more, as I read on those steamy moments with the rught amount of anticipation and desire was added to the mix, I honestly loved the good steamy moments. But there was so much to the bok than just that, the character development was defiently there and it truly helped as the truth of who they were and the feelings were put into play.

Cy to me well he was a piece of work but as always with me if theres a character I dont instantly like they always seem to change over the course of the book and Im always left really loving who they turn out as they progress. And this defiently happened with Cy for me

All in all, it was a wonderful read. Right amound of steamy moments with drama and the want to keep on reading. The kind of reading where you say one more chapter and still dont stop, the kind where you lose sleep and its perfectly ok, because you regret nothing!

Again this was my first novel to read by Phoebe Alexander. And it was a delicious treat to say the least. I look forward to reading the next and any other works they bring forward. This is a delight not to be missed :)

~~~~ This is the second time reading this book, and this updated version of the story has definitely reinforced my love of Ms. Alexander’s writing. I can always count on her to deliver a great story that will not only for up the screen on my Kindle, but also tug a little on my heart and have me invested right from the get-go.~~~~
Cy is on an undercover mission at his family’s theme park. He has a job to do and there is quite a bit at stake. But he’s thrown off-kilter when he meets the delectable Jolie.
Jolie has a few secrets of her own. She works two jobs trying to make ends meet- taking care of her responsibilities is her number one priority. Sparks fly and the heat rises. But what happens when secrets are revealed? You really need some Sugar & Spice in your life to find out all the delicious details for yourself!
After such a sublime introduction to the Spicetopia world, I’m really looking forward to the rest of the series!!!
5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Sugar & Spice is Book 1 in the Spicetopia series and I loved this story. I am definitely no stranger to this author's books, loving the unique story-line with the start of this series I am already anticipating to continue and I cannot wait to see what is store in Spicetopia. This story gave me secrets, drama, romance with definite sugar and spice and everything oh so nice!
When the owners of the family theme park of Sweetopia approach their youngest son about going "undercover" as there is rumors swirling around about an employee uprising and not in a good way. Cy Sweet has his eye on the initial prize of a bribe from his father so he can go to Greece on a planned trip. What Cy Sweet did not anticipate was a liking to The Red Velvet Queen..aka Jolie Cox.
Being The Red Velvet Queen for Jolie Cox has its struggles. Being a single mom, juggling her 2 jobs to make ends meat so she can provide for both of her son and their needs....working at Sweetopia is very demanding. Working conditions not ideal especially when her sons also need her as well.
When Cy and Jolie meet the spark and fireworks are hot and heavy...but as Jolie lets her guard down believing Cy is genuine...what happens when Cy dives in to find out whom may be the leader of an employee uprising and also juggling his feelings for Jolie...knowing he has secrets ....
Definitely read and find out...I loved this story and I cannot wait to dive in to Moon and Katja's story in Book 2!
This is a hot and steamy romance which kept me happily turning the pages. Cy has been sent into Sweetopia, an amusement park owned by his family, as an undercover boss. He needs to identify which of the employees have been organising strikes. However , he didn’t expect to be falling in love with the prime suspect, Jolie who portrays ‘The Red Velvet Queen’. Jolie is a single Mum of two young sons, one of whom has cystic fibrosis who is having to work two jobs. When a handsome coworker starts visiting her in her dressing room it provides her with a much needed distraction. Jolie is also determined to hold her bosses accountable and is pleased with the steps taken so far.
Whilst Cy is worried about loosing Jolie if she finds out that he’s the heir to the Sweetopia fortune, she’s concerned that if he finds out who she is under the wig and costume that he will leave. Eventually their true identities will be revealed and they will have to decide what happens next with their relationship. The chemistry between Cy and Jolie sizzles off the page and leads to some rather steamy scenes. The characters and the setting come to life through the descriptive narrative and I felt immersed in the storyline. An enjoyable and engaging read with plenty of steamy romance!
Sugar & Spice was different. It was good but different from most romance novels I’ve read. The author gives you a fresh take on a story we’ve read before, well at least the romance part.
Forced to go undercover, Cy/Marcus starts his new job in the bakery of his family's amusement park Sweetopia. There’s rumblings of employees gathering together to strike and boycott the park and his family wants to know who so they can be silenced. All Cy wants to do is travel and wants no parts of the family business. Unfortunately for him what he didn’t expect was 1 Jolie. And 2 what this undercover boss task does for him in the long run.
Jolie is a single mom with a terminally ill son who feels the Sweet family treats their employees unfairly and the benefits suck. She intends to do something about it. However when she meets Marcus he’s the curveball she didn’t expect. She had no intentions of having a man in her life. Her focus was her sons and getting fair compensation for her and her coworkers.
Will Jolie find out who Marcus really is?
Will the park employees follow through with their plans?
Does Cy stay loyal to his parents?
Lots of questions with many interesting answers and conclusions. It’s a promising start to a potential new series.
*Sugar & Spice* was a delightful and steamy read that had me hooked once I got into it. The storyline was refreshingly different and engaging, with just the right balance of romance and suspense. I appreciated the well-developed plot and the intriguing characters, Cy and Jolie, whose secret identities added an extra layer of excitement to the story.
Cy, an undercover boss at Sweetopia amusement park, is on a mission to identify rebel employees. He doesn't expect to fall for the beautiful Jolie, who portrays the park’s most popular character, The Red Velvet Queen. Jolie, a single mom juggling two jobs, is trying to make ends meet while caring for her sons. Their chemistry is undeniable, but both have secrets that could unravel everything.
Although it took me a bit longer to get into and read than normal, I still loved how the story unfolded, keeping me eagerly turning pages to see what would happen when their true identities were finally unmasked. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, and I'm thrilled to have already started the next book in the series.
If you're looking for a steamy romance with a compelling plot and memorable characters, *Sugar & Spice* is definitely worth a read!
What happens when a fly by the seat of his pants renowned playboy is forced to go be an undercover boss at his family's theme park? You guessed it: sparks, passion, manipulation, and maybe romance too!
This is the story of Cy, the youngest son of the Sweet family empire and the amazing Jolie, a hardworking single mom who is dealing with way more than any one person should have to! Cy aka Marcus (his undercover British Alter ego) meets and is enamored by Jolie, who plays the Red Velvet Queen on his first day of work. From there, these two start a passionate fling that all too quickly starts feeling like more! Would you go against your family and give up your entire inheritance and way of life for a person? Cy is about to have to make that hard decision!
I had never read a book by Phoebe Alexander, but I am so glad I picked this one up. This book has it all: passion, sparks, emotional tugs, a corrupt corporate family, and amazing character growth that was thrilling to witness! I truly can't wait to read more books in this series and by this talented author. If you want a fun, somewhat spicy read, you definitely should check out this book.
Cy Sweet is the youngest of the Sweet sons. His older brothers have been pitching in and helping out at the theme park but, Cy has been busy doing his thing. Now, his parents ask him ( more like threaten him ) to pose as a worker at the park to find out who is behind the strike they are hearing about. Cy gets a job at the bakery and spots Jolie on his first day and is immediately attracted to her. They both seem to be into eachother but, Cy also trying to do this important task for his family.
Jolie is a single mom of 2 boys and one of them is very sick. She works 2 jobs to try to support her family and care for her son. Her pay is horrible and the benefits are even worse. A couple of people band together to shed light to the world about the owners of this family friendly theme park and show the world, they aren’t all that family friendly at all.
Will Cy be able to stop the whispers and secret meetings or will he end up
Choosing the wrong side and help his friends and the girl he is falling for? This was a great read from beginning to end with lots of steam. Definitely a 5 star read!
"Temptation never looked so sweet.
CY: I’ve been sent into Sweetopia, the amusement park my family owns, as an undercover boss. My mission is to identify the rebel employees who are organizing a strike against our company. I don’t expect the prime suspect to be the beautiful woman who portrays the park’s most popular character: The Red Velvet Queen. I can’t fall in love with her. And if she finds out I’m heir to the Sweetopia fortune?
I’ll lose everything.
JOLIE:
I’m a single mom working two jobs to make ends meet while I try to care for my two young sons, one of whom has cystic fibrosis. My life is all doom and gloom until a dashing coworker begins visiting me in my dressing room. Between that pleasant distraction and the steps we’re taking to hold our bosses accountable…life may finally be looking up. But I can’t fall in love with him. And if he finds out who I really am under this wig and fake crown? He’ll leave me, just like everyone else in my life has done.
What will happen when Cy and Jolie’s true identities are finally unmasked?"
Absolutely loved reading this book, great story line, a little steamy in parts, loved the characters, first time reading this author, would love to read more of their works. I give this book 4 stars.
