David Walliams is an actor and writer best known for his work with Matt Lucas in the multi-award-winning sketch show Little Britain. His debut children's novel, The Boy in the Dress, was published in 2008 to unanimous critical acclaim and he has since developed a reputation as a natural successor to Roald Dahl.
I find David Walliams books to be a pure joy to read, they are fun quick and very entertaining. Love the illustrations by Tony Ross. They kind of reminds of Quentin Blake
Hi! I'm 9 years old and I'm a big fan of David Walliams books. I would recommend this book for others my age and fans of David Walliams. This book is very exciting and I can't wait for him to write more! This book is also really funny and it kept my attention all the way through. The characters in this book are very strange in a good way. I had this book delivered to me the day it was released.
What I say: I'm a big kid when it comes to DW books! Every child I know seems to love playing with slime.DW has tapped into their minds and written another brilliantly mad, fun and hilarious story with Ned and Slime!
As with every DW book there is a deeper meaning, a sense of righting a wrong and championing the underdog and why not?! DW is always so on the mark with representation and diversity, he manages to confront issues but in a way children will comprehend and can dream they too can overcome adversity and be the hero of their own story. He also pokes fun at some of his own stereotypes - Raj the newsagent?!
I loved seeing Ned's and Jemima's relationship change as Ned finds his courage and has one heck of an adventure. Jemima becomes a better sister and Slime is well fab! Slime reminded me of a modern-day Mary Poppins (it makes sense when you read it).
The illustrations are fab and I'm looking out for a Walliamson dictionary - Keep up the the good work DW!
Read- April 2020 for the O.W.Ls (Astronomy- read the majority of this book whilst it's dark) - It's so weird that I'm up to date with Walliams' books and that I can read them as they are coming out. I always love to read one of his books though, such a comfort read.
I have been wanting to read a David Williams for some time and I am glad I finally picked up one of his books. This one was just delightful, funny and slimy. Just perfect for a children's story.
Kaisa Katteluksen suomennos on jälleen hieno.
very good and a fun read but I thought the "walliamsictionary" joke was done too much in this book and I started getting a bit annoyed with it around 60% through but besides that it's an awesome book :)
I had to read at least one of David Walliams books and this audio version with a full cast did made me chuckle, especially rolling up to red traffic lights with other people looking at this laughing woman.
Although the story centred around one boys attempts at righting the wrong adults within his island, I think that it could have gone a little deeper in some areas. However as it is a childrens book, I suppose that the idea was to get the funny bits in and move on swiftly before it bores them!
Overall I would read another title by Walliams, as he does remind me some what of Roald Dahl, but I dont think that this should be compared as every author has their own unique way of writing and David is brilliant in his own way.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #Uitdieperdsebek Protea Boekhuis
A hilariously funny story about the adventures of a boy and his slime surprise. This also tells a heart warming story about the relationship between a brother and sister which starts off very conflicting but ends up happily where they become good friends. This is all helped by Slime - the birthday surprise which was a more pleasant surprise than planned. I really enjoyed this book and I know lots of children will enjoy it too.
I read this to our granddaughter and she loved it so much I didn't get to finish it as she did that herself. It was funny and as always David Walliams has a wonderful use of language which the children question and learn as they read it. I would recommend any of his books for children - they will love them. I particularly liked this book as the main character was an 'extraordinary' boy called Ned who was a wheelchair user. A great positive role-model for young children to aspire to as he deals with all the adversity in his life. Adults, of course, being the biggest obstacle to the children's happiness. I am sure this will resonate with many children.
5 out of 5 stars. 5 out of 5 stars. Every time I come back to read this book, and OMG the way David Williams writes is so good and authentic to an extent where you know and get to grips with the characters. There is something so authentic about reading this book and when you pick up a book from the series even if it’s not in order you instantly fall in love with the way he writes and the characters she describes. I cannot wait to get the other books from this author and read the in this series. In the future I will definitely be coming back to re read this book because the way that writes is so good and authentic and even in dark times there is something about Slated gives a light through the dark tunnel.
Also, I now understand why his series is number one in the US and UK!! I’m super excited to read the following books in the series and then read her other works to see what they are like. I also hear that it is now a major motion picture and has a lot of films to go with the books that he has written. So yes it not only a very good, adult fiction book, but his other work will be probably the best mystery books and series but also the best author I’m going to read!! So yes go and read them. It’s a 5 out of 5 star book for me !! Definitely recommend!!! I think it might be the best book I have read so far this year!! 🌟🌟✨✨🤩
