It's their job to hunt down and kill naval vessels whose crews rebel against the CosmoPolitan state. But something is about to happen that will force Asher and her crew to question their definition of the word 'barbarian', and to swallow their pride and seek help from unexpected quarters in the face of a threat both to their ship and to the state that built her.

Very much a first novel in a series, but, hey, very enjoyable with Green's trademark snark and no desire to explain EVERY SINGLE BLOODY THING to the concentration-challenged. Want more. Need more, actually.

Feels like, and apparently is, an opening novel in a series. Interesting, witty and easy to read without being trite, it is fun and ideal for readers just a little older than his Ant & Cleo series. Or old people like me who have enjoyed his fantastic imaginings for years.
