Loved the story...first love equals only love!

May 21, 2020I received an ARC copy of “The Cowboy and His Obsession” by Kaci Rose in agreement to offer a review.
This was advertised as a “Friends-to-Lovers” story which I found delightful to read. It is the third in the Rock Springs, Texas series. These characters interacted with ones from the first two books which made the “family feel” of the story continue from those and I am holding hope for its continuation in the next two.
While the author, gratefully, did not push my primary pet peeve in romance story writing, I found her riding the “conventional wisdom” of a built-in jeopardy of the loss of friendship if the romance doesn’t work out.
I realize that is a good plot device for building drama into the story telling. But it does not ring true for real life - for real-life best friends. Yes, this book is a work of fiction, a good one, and I acknowledge my personal history may well be quite unlike the majority of this author’s readers, which gives rise to my particular assessment of this story dynamic.
I have found, if a couple has had the commitment and trust development to develop into best friends, they can fall back in love if/when any of life’s vicissitudes tries to force them apart - which in this case the author chose to ape the common Hallmark Movie wrinkle of having one character overhearing part of another character’s comments, becoming emotionally stressed and bailing out and being traumatically upset to the point of breaking up - yes, and in good Hallmark fashion, they made it thru that to become even stronger together, rediscovering the intensity of the “sine qua non” of committed relationships” Trust.
Yes, it makes for story telling drama - but while I really enjoyed reading the Hunter and Megan’s story, growing remarkably impressed with their commitment to each other while building solid career choices, this thing bothered me enough to mention it here.
Unlike the previous two stories in the series, this one did not have any life threatening circumstances, which I found myself appreciating. And, I really liked reading that the story’s narcissistic antagonist got a well-deserved comeuppance.

This was a great friends to lover romance that I really enjoyed. It is part of a series, but each book can be read as a stand alone. I have read only 1 other book in the series, but plan on going back and reading the ones that I have missed so far soon.

so sweet
Was excited to get Megan and hunters story. They are the best friends to lovers trope and he has been waiting for her to catch up to him for years. He has patiently waited in the friend zone for years knowing that she was it for him. Loved how he knew she was the end game and saved himself for her. Compared to other stories where they sleep around to kill time. Also loved how he didn’t give up. When she had a freak out. But i have to say her reaction annoyed me. She is his best friend she just blew him off and wouldn’t let him tell the whole story. She was immature and impulsive to make unilateral decisions about his life and family. It seemed like she was just waiting for an excuse to end things cause she was scared of Losing her best friend

Hunter has loved Megan since he met her. He does not have the courage to tell her because he is afraid of losing her friendship, after all, she is his best friend. Megan discovers that she has more feelings for Hunter than she is willing to admit. She, too is afraid of messing up their friendship. Will they take a chance and tell each other how they feel or will they just continue to be best friends? You must read this book to find out. I have read each book in this series by Kaci R0se and I would highly recommend the whole series. I received this book for free and I want to express my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed Megan and Hunter;s story. It was very romantic and quite steamy at times. It was nice to see their future dreams come true and how they were both afraid they would ruin their being best friends if they pursued their relationship further. I also enjoyed the double epilogue which was different but then Megan and Hunter;s story was different too, I also liked how close both characters were with their families. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Megan and Hunter met in high school and have been friends ever since in fact he is crazy in love with her but she has him in the "friend zone". He is trying to finish school to be a vet like his dad and she is finishing school and on her way of buying the local beauty salon. Hunter is going to anything to convince Megan that they are meant to be together and she will not lose him as a friend if things go badly but when she hears a conversation between him and his father she thinks they can never have a happy ending.

I received an ARC of this book from the author, Kaci Rose, and this is my voluntary and honest review. I enjoyed reading this book about Hunter and Megan whose friendship blossomed into a deeper relationship with a HEA ending. They did have their ups and downs but at least their love survived. The epilogues were the perfect endings that highlighted the members of both their families. It was nice reading about how close all of the sisters and brothers and parents were and how much support they gave each other. I recommend this book and this series.

Really fun book. Enjoyed Megan and Hunter's story. Very romantic and quite steamy in places. It was fun to follow their relationship from good friends to lovers. They were scared that if they went that way it would ruin their friendship. Best friends make beautiful lovers. Hunter knows for sure that Megan is his, now he just needs to convince her. Will he be able to give her the happy every after that they both really want? I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Megan has kept Hunter as a friend, the family loves him and no one why Megan will not just accept the fact that Hunter is good for her. When her brother gets married Megan is jealous of Hunter talking to another woman. They leave the wedding and things changed. Megan does not want to lose her best friend. They definitely have some up hill battles but once on the top it is all down hill.
Kaci wrote a great story walking you through their best-friendship to the end.

Always enjoy the best friends to lovers romance and the book definitely delivers. The characters are well developed and the chemistry is so natural between them. It was easy to get wrapped up in all the heartfelt emotion to understand how hard it was for them to cross that line of friendship. I liked the extended epilogues to get a glimpse into the future of this series.

My first book to read for this author and i really like her writing style. I need to buy the first 2 books to catch up with the family and help the characters make more sense to me!! I enjoyed this new "Rock Springs Texas" story. This is a good friends to so much more story in the small town of Rock Springs. This is an engaging story that is nicely developed. I really love the characters. Hunter and Megan have been best friends since high school. Hunter knows she is the one and only for him but can he convince her to take a chance on love and more? This is a good story from beginning to end.

Steamy and romantic friends to lovers story. I really enjoyed the family dynamic and the way they're all so close yet still going about their lives. Loved the fact that according to Sage, no matter what is happening, come dinner time, they all eat together as a family. Strong principles which set the stage for the kids to follow as the parents led by example.
Love the series and look forward to the next couple's story. Sweet read.

Miss Rose did a phenomenal job with this read.
I fell in love with Hunter in Sage and Colts story.
I have been glued to this book for three hours and I'm not disappointed at all.
This book has enough love,romance and some shocking moments that kept me wanting more.
I laughed, teared up and wanted to hit one of the men characters all in one paragraph a few times.
This is a must read to anyone who enjoys steamy, love, and unexpected situations in a book. Megan and Hunter are the perfect team.

Hunter and Megan were meant to be together since they met at the young age of 16. They became best friends and from that day on were always together it seems. She was set to own her own beauty salon and Hunter is going to be a vet. He knows he is in love with her and is waiting for her to finish college to act on his feelings. She just hasn't quite realized it yet. What a wonderful book of first love that lasts forever. I am so digging this author and plan to read more of her books.

This story is just simply said delightful!!! Now that I am hooked on this family I cannot wait for the next story in this series. This story certainly has a good storyline and really good characters. I enjoyed this book. The characters are well developed and engaging with undeniable chemistry between the couple which made for a storyline that kept me turning the pages. The author definitely gave us a storyline I could get caught up into.

This was my first read from this author. So, Megan and Hunter have been friends forever. I loved the characters, loved the dual first person point of view, the story flew perfectly. I will definitely read more in the series.

It is worth every penny.
This story is really well written, has characters that are created with tantalizing depth and a captivating story line.

This is the 1st book I've read written by Kaci Rose; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

Absolutely fantastic, passionate, fast pace, entertaining, and emotionally deep read. The characters are likeable and deep; their chemistry is off the charts. This book will captivate you from page one, tug on your heart, make you smile, and hold your interest until the end. Definitely recommended!

Meg's best friend
I absolutely loved this book! I give it an A+. If you love western romance,you've got to read this one. It's the first book I've read from this author, but after reading this one I definately plan on reading the rest. It's so easy to read and has plenty of " hot " passages too. I'd looking forward to reading the rest of her books soon!

Another fine story of best friends turning to marrying
I really enjoyed Hunter and Meghan realizing they were becoming friends forever.
The trip Hunter gave her as a graduation gift would be so wonderful. We learn in the latest epilogue the children they have as well as a third one on the way.
This story was so sweet, it is well worth your time to read. A fine story.

Rushed story
Repetitive details. There isn't much of a plot. The story felt rushed and the characters relationship isn't very well-defined. All I understood was that the hero and heroine found each other attractive initially and they continued to harbor feelings for each other. Trying to wait four some arbitrary date to start dating. Not impressed.
