Appearances matter in this tongue-in-cheek sequel to Pot Luck. It continues the quirky adventures of Dr. Jacob Walton, a clinical psychologist badly in need of counseling himself. His ex-wife, Savannah, has abandoned her search for her true lesbian self, and her heterosexual self has returned with a vengeance, perhaps motivated by the fortune her ex inherited while she roamed. Walton has been avoiding her, but she’s determined to win him back, using every opportunity to rekindle the flame she extinguished two years before. She’s not been sitting idly by in the meantime, however. Two of her many affairs have intersected unhappily, and she is suspected of murdering a lover who spurned her and the woman who caused the breakup. His daughter Ashley, now firmly established in the Hollywood glamour scene, has begged him to help, so he has no choice but to try and unravel the mystery and prove Savannah’s innocence. But as happened before when Walton set out to solve a mystery, his discoveries this time uncover personal issues that he has to confront. Finding the killer might be the least of his problems. His celebrity daughter could find herself amidst a nest of maniacs; he’s falling under the spell of a beautiful heiress who just might be a killer; and his fiancée, a TV network reporter, might resort to old habits and betray him as she probes an even deeper mystery extending back 20 years. The answer to some questions will be clear. To answer the rest, Walton will have to decide who and what to believe.
