There is no-one else like Lindsey Stirling. We are talking about a classically-trained violinist, from Gilbert, Arizona, entering a futuristic world of big beats and animation – imagine Vanessa Mae leaping through the pages of a Manga comic with Skrillex in hot pursuit. Her song ‘Crystallize’ was the eighth most-viewed video on Youtube last year...

I debated if I should mark this or each individual volume as read, but since I got the comic as a complete collection (at her AMAAAAZING concert!!! 🤩) and read it all in one go, I'm going to count this as one book. :3

So this comic is super cool. One of my favorite featured were the QR codes place periodically throughout the comic so you could listen to the song that goes with that part of the story. This was a really fun addition because it solidified the connection between Artemis album and the Artemis comic, which in my opinion you have to do to get the complete experience.

The art is STUNNING and I can't talk about it enough. Every character is beautifully drawn and so is every setting. I love the character design of Artemis the redhead the best because she was relatable and youthful. I relate to her so much and really enjoyed seeing her look change as she went through different phases of her story. Of course, Artemis the goddess and her moon powers are ethereal. She shows such gentleness and power at the same time and it's a wonderful interpretation of her ancient Greek roots. The settings were just as stunning. loved the contrast between the grungy mechanical trenches to the glittery neons and stark blacks of the Upside to the bright and natural colors and lines of the ancient past.

The influences of the design are also a delight to explore. The Greek mythology influence is the most obvious, but it blends impressively well with grunge and futuristic tech. I noticed some possible star wars references too, as well as of course the super fun references to Lindsey's past albums.

My only real complaint is that I wish the story was longer and more thorough. This is a common complaint with graphic novels (the story is as much graphic novel as it is comic), but more time spent fleshing out the incredible world Lindsey created would have immersed the reader in the story even more. The same could be said about the plot, since more detailed explanations of Artemis the redhead's background and the uprising, for example, would help the reader keep up with the plot. It does feel a bit rushed and a tad confusing in places.

All this being said, a large part of the emotional gravity of the story is told through music, which is why I said a reader has to listen to the referenced songs for a complete experience. Both Artemis's journeys are representations of Lindsey's emotional journey over the past few years, especially with grieving the passing of both her father and best friend mere months from each other. You really don't understand the range of intense emotions our main characters go through without listening to the Album.

Even though the writing isn't perfect, I have to give the comic five stars because of the emotional experience Lindsey gave me personally. I've lost people important to me, and Lindsey's obvious longing to be closer to loved ones no longer with her hit me to my core. But the message of love being more powerful than any distance or obstacle helped me feel far closer to my own ones than I have in years and helped me process my own grief. For that, Lindsey deserves all the stars in the sky. And the moon.

"I'll keep you in my life somehow
And even when the lights go down, down
I'm not gonna lose you now
I'm not gonna lose you now." 🌕

So good, I don't normally like comic books but this is the exception.

Lindsey Stirling has been a favorite musician of mine since around 2012 or so when i first discovered her. Not long after that when my boyfriend and i met, we found we both enjoyed her music and ever since we have loved going to her concerts and supporting her by watching her tv performances and buying her merch.

While Lindsey's music has changed a little, it has been growth and good change and i love how her music and albums tell a story. One of my favorite books to recommend to others who want to read something inspirational is The Only Pirate At The Party. Now, i am excited to recommend lindseys first comic book to others as well!

For the ultimate experience, Artemis is best read while also listening to her most recent album of the same name. Something that was a surprise and that i really enjoy is that there are qr codes throughout the comic that you can scan with a phone and they will bring you to the corresponding music videos for each part of the story and comic.

Lindsey is a phenomenal and talented musician, and it is so neat to see her branching out into other creative areas as well. She really brings so much positivity, light, and creativity through her work and what she makes and shares with her fans and customers. Not only is the comic a great tie in to the album, but the art work is really beautifully done as well!

I was impressed with the impact of this volume in so few pages. Love that Lindsey added this to bring a deeper meaning to her music. The art style is also my favourite that I've seen in any graphic novel. Can't wait for the next one!

A story in which Stirling is now finally a manga character.

Goodness, this is a dazzling comic, with an engaging story that hooks readers and wonderful art that will bring light to your dreams as you sleep.

Any fan of Lindsey Stirling knows how creative she is, and her comic is no exception. She creates her own world and uses Greek Gods like dolls to make her own unique story. No one could say that Lindsey Stirling does not have a creative vision for each of her projects.

Unfortunately there is a pattern with people who write comics who don't have experience with comics or even enjoy comics as a medium, and that is that the writing of text is overdone. The comic itself is a dense read because she does not allow the art to tell the story in its own right and everything is explained and over explained by the characters. At times it is distracting and isn't particularly clever. Stirling's writing voice often overpowers the art.

The story is not subtle and at times does not take a lot of time to develop its characters. Because of the issue of the writing being overdone, we are told more than we are shown. Stirling leaves nothing to interpretation and we are delivered straight the messages of keeping hope, keeping true to ones self, and bringing light to dark situations.

I did like that there were QR codes to listen to suggested songs while reading along. It helped to set the mood. However there are several songs that are repeated throughout the story, which is a shame since she has SO MANY songs to choose from to help fill out this world.

Overall, its fine. The art is pretty good, even excellent at times. I would recomend it to Stirling fans or for readers age 9-15.

This graphic novel is almost like two stories. In the future a scruffy trencher, basically slave labor, has dreams about an ancient hunter named Artemis. These dreams guide her and embolden her as she fights to save her friends and family from the dark goddess Nyx. But Nyx has a story too and sometimes the good guys and the bad guys are just a matter of who has the better story.

This was a brilliantly written and beautifully illustrated graphic novel that is greatly enhanced by listening to Lindsey Stirling's album of the same name. QR codes throughout the book show you exactly where each song is meant to go.

I picked this complete story book, all six comics in one, when I saw Lindsey Stirling's concert in August of 2021.

The story had a hopeful slant to it about teamwork, staying true to your friends, and having the knowledge of being loved even when a person is not physically there to give it.

The artwork was beautiful! Loved all the goddess Artemis panels.

The only downside to this story was that it wasn’t longer. I want more!
