Minus America #2

Empty Cities

Rate this book

There are no more red or blue states; just empty states.

And empty cities.

But a few Americans survived, and are fighting to stay alive.

Ted, the pilot, still protects Vice President Emily Williams as he retains the hope of finding his niece. His skills are tested as enemy forces zero in on their location.

Tabby, the tour guide, is stuck with three young teens as she looks for her parents. Entire cities are theirs to explore.

Dwight, the homeless man, is known for talking to an invisible parrot. He might also be witness to the first wave of the invasion force.

Journey along with these characters as they travel through the haunting remains of a once-thriving nation. Fires rage out of control. Unmanned power grids begin to shut down. As they cross state lines and drive through new cities, each of them begins to appreciate this was a terrorist attack beyond anything in history. And the terrorists make their next big move...

If you enjoy a mixture of apocalyptic exploration, a little pew-pew, and long-odds rebellion against an unseen enemy, check out Empty Cities, the second book in the Minus America series. Book 3, Rebel Cause, will be available soon. Book 4, Two Wolves and a Sheep, will also release soon.

E.E. Isherwood has been a storyteller for over 30 years. Initially the muse took the form of childish comic strips. As a teen it manifested itself under the guise of Dungeons and Dragons adventures. In college it culminated with a Master's thesis on Missouri geography—an extremely boring kind of story. Three decades and several careers later he realized that siren song never stopped, so he began to author books. A life-long enthusiast of apocalyptic fiction, writing about zombies was his passion. Future titles in science fiction and fantasy are in the hopper. He lives in the St. Louis, Missouri area, where his series of zombie books takes place.

Empty Cities - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Family dynamics change following the apocalyptic-like terror attacks on the US, leaving loved ones separated, dead and/or dying as they struggle to come to terms with - and survive - the many dangers that await in the aftermath, of Empty Cities, Book 2 in A Post Apocalyptic Survival thriller series by the outstanding author of post-apocalyptic tales like no other, E.E. Isherwood. Not for the faint-hearted, but sure to be a firm favourite with survivalists and adventure novel fans alike.
Grab a copy today and thank God that - so far - it's only a fictional, what if...? fantasy...for now!

More is revealed in this book

I enjoyed this book very much. The characters have developed nicely as has the story. I think this is a great post-apocalyptic book. This is different from the norm, pandemics, zombies, EMPs, Etc. A refreshing change. This book is less about survival of a few, but tackles The Who what why of the attack on America. No huge Cliffhangers but can't wait for the next book and hopefully more after that to see what happens to our characters and find out the big HOW !! I highly recommend this book! I hope you enjoy this series as much as I have.

I live on a steady diet of SHTF/Post-Apocalyptic survival novels and this is the best I've read in a number of years. The author has gone beyond the realm of EMF and other redundant plots to a fresh beginning, a neutron bomb attack, which empties the country of people except for a few who were underground at the time of the attack. The story centers around a handful of survivors including the Vice President who was in Air Force 2 when the attack occurred. A worthy read for any fan of said genre; can't wait for book 3 to see if the bad guys get the payback they deserve. Keep up the good work E.E. Isherwood.

Oh yeah... the Minus America series is getting better and better!
Crazy, self-righteous and rich people with power are frightening as heck.

More or the same - maybe better

I will confess that I was surprised by some of the plot twists, actually quite a few of them. The plot still draws on far too many memes, even the Axler-like weapons envy bit where our pilot here turns out to be a survivalist and weapons specialist too!
Plot still sounds a bit Clancy-esque - depopulation to save the climate/world, but oh so much better than the 'reds are invading' as earlier mentions of Asian people hinted at.

Glad to see that is British are still alive and kicking.

A Page Turner

I enjoyed this second book, Empty Cities in that Minus America Series.
The method of destruction in this novel is unique and allows for an interesting approach to this posts apocalyptic genre.
The subplots with the characters and their conflicts are interesting, but drag on in my opinion.
I recommend this series and will continue.

Another 'read in a day' addictive installment

I love how we still don't know what's going on, but the characters and their individual stories and interpretations of it keep me intrigued and guessing along. I hope Deeogee finds some more humans soon!

The Action Continues Pumping!

Isherwood’s style keeps my head on a swivel, literarily speaking, with fast-paced sequences and roundabout twists to prevent me from guessing what happens next!

oh man, definitely

I am so wrapped up in this series now and am reading as fast as I can. Cheering on the American survivors in each of the connecting sub-stories. Very well written with only a very few edits needed which is refreshing too! Thank you E. E. Isherwood

Empty Cities - Minus America Book 2

Where has everyone gone, evaporated into thin air? Across the country small groups of survivors are on the run from the invaders and their mechanical devices. What are the chances they’ll escape?

Este es el segundo libro de la saga. Al menos se esfuerza en crear un apocalipsis diferente. Sus personajes no son evangelistas sin fallas y viven algunos encontronazos demasiado forzados, al menos te mantienen en tensión.

Very entertaining

This novel is pretty crazy, because you have to suspend logic. It is also very entertaining with interesting characters and situations.

Not as good as the first book, but I like how it expanded on the "world" a bit

A lot of action compensate lack of logic. There are always much more people underground then just few survivors

This book keeps getting better and better. I am right there with them all the way. It’s sad to think that stuff like this could really happen.

Interesting Read

A most unusual plot line being revealed slowly. But believable characters you want to follow and see succeed. It’s well written too. I did enjoy it. Not your usual apocalyptic novel but worth the fee.

This was a decent second book.
Yet, the author failed to deliver the necessity of the additional side characters and their stories. Maybe it is because of their specific character or mindset but I couldn’t connect with Rose or Dwight. I didn’t care nor did I see the point.
And the other characters aimlessly wandering around was also at times not appealing somehow.
But that all didn’t hinder to keep on continuing as the why and how is still a secret. That and the interest in the main characters journey keeps me reading.

Action Packed

Couldn't turn the pages fast enough to get to the next action event. Really good plot left me wondering what was going to happen next. Was a little surprised that Sister Rose died but keeping dogee alive was a cool idea.
Looking forward to the next adventure, hunting season is approaching and I look forward to reading on the cool wet mornings in the deer stand in North Florida.

Mr. Isherwood has, as always, created a world I can see as I read and characters I either live or loath. His imagination is incredible and Minus America has twists and turns that showcases said imagination. I can hardly wait to read book 3 of this a series. I highly recommend it but it definitely needs to be read in the order written. This is a must-read for any apoc/dystopian and mystery fans. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
