Al started his day with a cup of cheap gas station coffee, expecting it to be another mundane day of classes. Instead, he ran for his life as eldritch monsters ripped into his university, bumped into strange characters, and went toe to toe with evil incarnate to save his classmates and crush, almost costing him everything.

Just as Al thought his story ended, he awoke in a strange place with strange people, broken and scarred. From there, he is presented a horrifying revelation and a seemingly impossible decision that could impact billions of lives. Al comes to question everything he's ever known, being faced with the presence of magic, the knowledge of a cosmic war, and coping with the harshness of reality. While in the company of a buxom mage and a battle-hardened warrioress, Al determines his place in the order of all things.

Not bad, a little clunky
This is a fantasy story with some sex and a vaguely harem vibe at the end.
I starts a bit amateurish but tightens up as it goes. The author makes some odd choices, but nothing too crazy. The strangest thing for me was he kept getting sayings and idioms wrong. That keep throwing me off, and breaking me out of the groove.
A likeable MC who isn't a total meat-head, and has actual human feelings.

Overall a good book, but a couple of quibbles.

First, this book needs a SERIOUS editing. There were a lot of small grammatical errors and in certain parts of the book, particularly near the end, entire words are obviously missing. (And ffs, a small test-tube like container is a vial, not a "vile". I rant, as this isn't the first book where I've seen that)

The MC was kinda a whiny bitch for most of the book, and Eva was justified in her low opinion of him as far as I see it. I do understand that he was going through a lot, but there's a limit to how much of that I actually want to read (it is fantasy after all) and that was somewhat exceeded here. There was talk in the book about his perfect "balance" but I really didn't see that very often.

By the end of this things seemed to be on track, so I'll be checking out the next book. I think that Al is now in a place where he can learn and get stronger, so I look forward to that.

A interesting book.

This was a unique blend of horror and fantasy that really kept me entertained with the story. The pacing was good and I enjoyed the growth of the characters.

This book was a little confusing. I didn't see which direction it was going for a while, but it sorted itself out in the end.

I'm not sure I can deal with another magical college/university in a novel. This book looks like it will turn into one of those.

I was right, it will turn into a university thing. This should have been obvious, as the book cover was a library, and the book started in a university...

I'm not sure if I want to continue this series, it smells like a chosen one, magical college, with a harem, all wrapped into one type novel.

Why is it so hard to find people who build stuff in fantasy?

This story was very strong from start to finish I listened to the audiobook and the narration was great. For a first book from the author I thought it was pretty polished. I liked the world building and magic, though I imagine book 2 will deal more with the magic side. I will be happy to buy book 2 to see how this story continues. The harem element is pretty light in this book but I can see it growing more in the the next book. It doesn't feel forced or anything so I didn't mind how it developed. So I totally recommend this book it is always nice to add another author to my favorites list.

I like it. The story is good and well though out. Characters are interesting. I like to read more, but I have 2 fears. The first is the apperance of the guy from the side story(which sucked). I'm out,if he is going to be a big part of the main story. The 2nd fear is that the MC is going to get too op too fast or be "the prophet". Will check the best book out.

Caught me by surprise

This was surprisingly good. Not too slow, not too dirty with the harem aspect, and a likable main who is not a Mary Sue. I highly recommend this, and am looking forward to more.

Awesome

I picked up this book because I was bored, but after the first 2 chapters I couldn't put it down. While there are a few issues with editing its a fantastic read, very excited for the next in the series.

Good start but details tend to get in the way of the story flow

I choose this rating because the story flow has a lot of potential! I do think that the relationships need to get cemented as they too start getting in the way of the story flow.

Gripping Adventure

I had a great time reading this story which kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. This is a new author but his story made me feel a wide range of emotions. Great story.

Fun read

Story flows smoothly from hectic start to surprise ending-new world is nicely developed and resists the expected easy path. Hoping for next book in series.

Enjoyed it, felt a bit slow in the middle, and the MC was a bit aggravating. good story and concept though!

Appealing characters, plenty of action and a fast moving plot, graphic sex, which was kind of a surprise, and got to be a bit too much. I found the adventure lots of fun, the sex, while inventive, boring. Well performed audio by Tim Paige

Oooh this was a pleasent little gem.
A real breath of fresh air compared to a lot of the drab fancey harem stuff floating around. Unique is the word I would use for the book. I was kinda think of The Five Trials by Mike Truk when I got this because of the whole choosen hero being brought to a great cosmic war and mc would have to have sex to get stronger. Al in Heart of the Resonat doesn't use some mystical stuff to justify having a harem, which is like a real change from a lot of the other kinky fantasy books. The attraction and intamcy is just so natural and good, but he doesn't take himself so seriously. The scene in the bedroom with Koko made me laugh.
One thing I liked is having an mc with a complicated character. I really didn't epxpect that all the depth of thought. I admire an author willing do things differently and have a character that is vulnerable. Some may not like it but I do because it allows for the gradual growth of him into a hero. I really hope this becomes a big series.
Edit: Author apparently made a mistake an didn't upload the final book. I went threw and saw big mistakes were absent. That earned the extra star.

Excellent Story but Need an Editor

Great story with a lot of potential, but in desperate need of an editing to make it truly phenomenal. I hope you take this as the constructive criticism it’s meant to be and not just an insult to your work. For those wondering if it’s worth the read, it most certainly is despite the lack of editing which (in my opinion) is the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars.
I do think you have a truly special epic here and you clearly have a strong talent for telling that story, however there were quite a few typos, grammatical errors and word scrambling that required me to go back and reread sentences to figure out what you meant to say. While not a big deal in the grand scheme it did ruin the flow of the scenes for me at times, preventing me from truly immersing myself in your tremendous writing skills. I am avidly awaiting your sequel, but please have an editor look through it first. Well done!

Great Work; Slightly Marred

This is a great story: lots of action, drama, romance, etc. It also has a great plot, nice world-building, and a series set up worthy of a great action anime. So I have it four stars for effort and forethought, because I see where it can go; what it could be, and I want in.

To be fair though, there is one down side here that needs to be addressed, because it could be easily fixed, and that’s all the mid-spelled words. Homonyms abound, as well as other mistakes that can even be funny, such as an “angle on my shoulder”. Normally I can ignore a few, but there were sew many hear that it was often grading two rede. Fix those in an revised edition, and readers shall sing your praises.

As I said though, this story offers a lot, and I really look forward to what it will become. Issues aside, I do recommend it. (17+ for sex and scads of introspection.)

Wow.
Came for the adult stuff, stayed for the story. The MC undergoes a complete character arc contained within the book, but we're promised with even more growth in the future. The characters actually feel like characters and the dilogue is so smooth and genuine. This is a slow harem, but the foundation is set and we're promised a much bigger harem. I'm not entirely sure who's going to be in the immediate love circle, but I'm looking forward to how that's going to play out.
I find it hard to believe this was mr Handlers first book. I really really hope there's a sequel soon because I rarely ever see this sort of care in the genre.

Pretty good

There were times in this novel I thought "this is ridiculous" (spoiler alert) the mc takes shit often, even peeing himself when his life isnt in danger but is brave at other times and stands up for himself when his life actually is in danger. (End of spoiler) Made no sense and was vexing. I almost dropped this because of that. Overall the writing was well done with the exception of a few typos/missing text. The world is new and I look forward to another installment.

I couldn’t put this one down

Seriously... this was an awesome story. A down-to-earth main character with an attitude who goes through a classic hero’s journey with a set of fun characters. Do not pass on this book, read it! Cannot wait for the next one!!

Last thing is that I highly appreciate that ending. No spoilers, but the author ended the story on a cliff hanger that left me screaming “America **** ya” haha ;-)

Awesome!!

Book is about a guy who finds out the universe is bigger than what we know and there’s an eternal battle between good and evil. But the author does such an amazing job of getting you hooked and his ability to tell this story is one of the best I have read. It is well paced, characters are genuine And the struggle is real. I thoroughly enjoyed this and if you are into fighting, magic, romance, friendships and an adventure of a life time read this book!

Great stuff

One of the better books I've had the pleasure to read in the last few years. The characters feel like real people, and there's plenty of character developement. There are some grammatical errors, but they arent too bad. An editor could help polish this a little more, but im still giving it 5 stars because of how much I enjoyed it.

Interesting Plot

I liked the storyline. The MC was a little to over emotional at times, but the action was plentiful, an he was not OP. Character development was very well done. There were a few editing mistakes, but not enough to halt the immersion. Good book

Fun, could use better editing

Definitely a lot of fun to read. Compelling storyline and interesting characters, with the right amount of adult fun thrown in. Some missing words/grammatical mistakes, but not enough to negatively impact the story.

Pretty good beginning of a series.

This books premise, characters, world, and pacing are all very good. That being the case this book could really use some proof reading and minor revisions. I'm looking forward to future entries in this series.

I was concerned in the beginning but I'm glad I continued to read.

I enjoyed the story quite a bit, good development both story wise and character wise. Loved it, reminded me a little of world tree in Norse Mythology.

Fantastic !!

Great plot, as in there is really a plot, instead a bunch of sex scorns separated by killing stuff. Main character is an interesting balance of hubris and protective instincts. Ladies have a range of interesting personalities and archetypes.

An engaging, skillfully crafted fantasy adventure

The author takes a well traveled trope and fills it with excellent action, great pacing, and a cast of surprisingly deep characters. I read it in a single sitting, and await the second with bated breath!

This was damn good. Like I thought it might be half decent from the reviews but I was very surprised. The story is actually impressive. When you see "harem" you assume its going to be half decent at best. But no! This was a really good and interesting story.
