She learns she’s not the first human to wind up there—but all the others were captured and sold as slaves. She’ll have to fight to stay alive.

She thought all she wanted was to find a way home. But then she fell in love—three times over—and learned that together, her men would fight three times as fiercely.

Now, to keep her loves alive, she’ll have to free an entire system.

or I-don't-know-how-to-rate-it-because-it's-neither-good-nor-bad.

A quick, no-plot, kinda cute alien RH. It's kinda fast-burn and kinda fast-paced but also nothing really happens. The writing is very enjoyable and I absolutely loved Blue, the AI.

 >No real cliffhanger
> No MM
> No FF
> Three guys
> Multiple POV

Trigger warning:
Slavery, weird alien sex scene with a somewhat bug-looking male? I'm still confused about this part.

Utterly and completely bonkers, but kinda sweet too. I appreciate that, of the three men in the harem, only one is truly humanoid. The others, walk up-right (most of the time) but have alien anatomies that make for interesting reading and one eye-opening sex scene (the only one in the book and it's mild). The plot is pretty ludicrous and things happy pretty helter-skelter. (I mean Lise manages to trip and fall through TWO uncharted wormholes in occupied space, for example!) But it's still enjoyable all the same.

I didn't like that the women the crew rescued were continuously referred to as the "slave women," "slave stock," "slaves," etc. Emphasizing their status as former slaves over that of autonomous women. There was only one group of women. "The women" would have sufficed and made them feel like actual individuals and less like commodities, serving the theme of the book better I think.

All in all, however, I thought it a pretty piece of fluff and don't consider the time I spent reading it wasted.

I have to say I enjoyed this book more than I expected to. Lise is basically lost in space with her bestie that happens to be the ship's AI, Blue. She's looking for a crew to help her when she stumbles upon a trio on con aliens. Turns out all 3 are wanted males so she blackmails them into becoming her crew. From there the adventures and hilarity ensues. All 3 males are completely different species and while they're a team the differences and misunderstandings are ridiculous. All 3 feel a pull to the tiny human who happens to be smart and fierce while she's just trying to survive her new reality. The fae prince is vain, selfish and shallow. The reason for his warrant is the least dangerous and the most foolish. The other are not true criminals but are males who are lost and Lise recognizes kindred spirits in them. When they're abducted truths come out and their adventures turn into a dangerous escape.

This was a great read overall. Well written with an interesting storyline. I like the differing POVs that really allow us to get to know the characters and I am excited for book 2.

This space adventure was fast paced and filled with lots of action and interesting characters in a good planetary / alien backdrop. The story kept me interested and took some turns that I didn't see coming. I would have liked a little more relationship development between Lise, Evik, Morpheus and Alder it seemed a little rushed in my opinion, but otherwise this was an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more about what happens next.

This book has a good storyline. Lots of action.Lise is a human who was taken from her home Planet to outer space. She does Not know if she will ever get home again. She has gathered a very unusual crew. They are all totally different Creatures from different planets. They all have pasts that have begun to catch up on them. Romance is slowly building between them. Love Blue the AI in her spaceship. Look forward to the next part of the story.

A very interesting read-to say the least. It has something for everyone...romance, bad boys, hot and steamy sex, broken taboos, adventure, techy stuff, underdogs against the odds, and any other cliche you can think of. I could not put it down and will preorder the next book in the series.

Bonkers

I couldn’t tell what I was getting into with this one, but I liked the title because if the human is described as “tiny” then the aliens are really big right? I ❤️ big ol’ aliens.
Ngl this story doesn’t always make sense, but it’s a lot of fun so far. I’m definitely reading book two.

Curb your expectations

Tiny and Fierce is the interesting tale of an independent young space salvager (AKA junk scavenger) who has mass skills, top training, years of experience, and a salvaged ship and AI wa-ay above civilian pay-grade (finders, keepers, right?) Thanks to an uncharted and unstable wormhole, she's also totally lost in an unknown sector of the galaxy. Going home ain't happening, so now she's gotta find a way to salvage for a living, which means she needs a crew. Luck, quick thinking and blackmail and bribery conspire to hook her up with three alien con-men who decide that crewing a junker with a pretty little human spitfire as their boss is not the worst fate that might befall them. The characters are the standouts in this novel, particularly the less humanoid of the aliens, and they fell, one after another into lust with their feisty and fearless boss (Han Solo with hips and boobs). There's a surprisingly caring attitude on her part which propels the budding relationships. BUT (here comes the minus 2 stars) there is no reverse harem (yet) although there's one of the three aliens who manages a hot night...
Now, you gotta understand - these guys AREN"T HUMAN, and neither is the anatomy. Alien sex is REALLY different, and if that bothers you this might not be your book. I can't say it hit my HOT button, but the description was a marvel of imaginative writing. The interplay between character was surprisingly real and honest, and the emotional connections were entirely believable. The twists and dangers of the plot made for some white-knuckle excitement to balance the feels, and the whole book is truly well-written. This is the start of a series, so clearly more adventure, action (in and out of the bedroom) and tender feelings are in store. Maybe book 2 will see the "reverse harem" come together. Meanwhile, I liked this one well enough to hang around for the next book. This is a voluntary ARC review.

Not slow burn

DNF
I feel like this could have been something but everything was so fast paced. This is also not slow burn like advertised. The guys are all for the FL so quickly its not even funny. Honestly one of then even equivilates the FL to their last wife who they supposedly missed for centuries only after meeting the FL for what, 3 days. I usually dont leave a review if I didn't finish the book but I had to for this one because it pissed me off. It's ok to be fast burned but dont advertise yourself to be slow burn. Which is not.

2,5 stars. I liked the diversity of the heroine's harem and the character development of each one but it really irritated me that Morpheus (one of heroines mates-not yet) compared the heroine to his ex mate/wife. All in all it was a good adventure but I wanted a little more world building.

Lise in space

Lise is a proud junker, from a line of junkers. She was clearing out the latest area with her family when she discovered an AI run ship, Blue. Heading out with Blue to find another haul to dismantle for payoff, she gets sucked through a wormhole into uncharted regions. They've seen the odd human, but she's never heard of any of them. But what she's found out is that humans make a lot of money for slavers, so avoiding them is her highest priority. To do that she needs people who know the area, and aren't upset with working with a space rat. So, seedy bars it is then. She finds the perfect crew in the middle of their own heist. Only problem is, well, they're all wanted by various governments.

Spoilers ahead.
This was fun. I've read her naga shifter series and was excited to see her break into the sci-fi genre. Lise is fine within the shadows. She's strong without being brittle or hateful. She's adaptable. The guys are all a little insectoid, which made things crazy. I would love a bit more description on Evik. Picturing him is hard in me head. We're given chitin, antenna, mandibles, 6 appendages (arms/legs) and segmented. So...ant like? Beetle? The scent communication makes me think more any like. But that doesn't fit the flexibility mentioned. Morph is described as almost butterfly like and Alder as a fae/almost dragonfly like humanoid. Alder is running from an arranged marriage, Morph from his days as a science experiment, and I can't remember why Evik is off his world. While there is some world building, it's mostly from the time on an enemy planet. There's a little background story but not how they banded together. A lot of action happened in this book, but after you finish it the questions start popping up. Oh, and mild trigger warnings. The enemy that grabs them has a slave trade. Females are tested for breeding capabilities, males are sold for labor or games. So, when Lise is separated from the crew, tests are run. Nothing mentioned other than an ache when she wakes up. The other women, one is damaged from something done to her but nothing is said, only assumed. So, all were tested, some already sold, possible experiments to make them compatible. But nothing in depth, I just think it deserves a mention for sensitive readers. I loved the byplay between the crew, and how the lone human stood up for the least human looking member. For a being not used to too many aliens, she adapted to the variety of beings without a qualm.

Before I say anything let me just defend myself and clarify that in no way at all did I expect to read insect intercourse but look where we ended up anyway.

Anyway, bug-loving aside, the whole damn plot isn’t that bad at all! I actually love the whole alien unity thing going on, because humans aren’t the hottest shit now anyway. Their whole crew fascinated me to no end—Lise was an admirable captain with the biggest balls of them all as the female love interest and the only human, Alder was this spoiled-prince-on-the-run who only looked human but was in fact fae with jealousy issues that I find adorable, Morpheus was the butterfly hybrid warrior which I admit to having to visual interpretation because I couldn’t imagine a huge butterfly and not shudder (I fear butterflies, sue me), Evik was this insect with the kindest personality and also the most endearing and that for whatever reason I assumed was crab-shaped because I’m coincidentally not a bug expert so I don’t know what he’s supposed to be, and lastly, Blue was their AI buddy who’s the only one not a romantic interest and was super good at everything and owns the second biggest pair of balls of them all. The pacing is med-burn because the writing style is engaging but when I think about it, the whole plot summarised is just: Lise scouting and adopting the three aliens into her crew, then they get into a bunch of troubles and developing feelings and attachments to each other on the way. It was cute and lighthearted although the sex part I pretend I could understand (again, not a bug expert). This is the time when I wished I paid more attention in biology class all those years ago. No one ever told me I’d need biology to read alien insect intercourse but alas life is unpredictable. Overall four stars because it’s a nice read that’s different from what I’ve seen so far.

I don’t understand the authors’ need to lie about the slow burn tag. What part of the detailed sex scene between counts as “slow burn”? Because when characters have known each other for less than 48 hours nor have had any kind of meaningful conversation decide to jump to bed to well, a slow burn it is not, even if it does take place past the halfway point of the book.

This stupid, unnecessary lie genuinely affected my reading experience, one that I was enjoying. I think the setting and characters are interesting, but would be much more so if the characters had actually bothered to know one another before any type of romantic relationship was even hinted at. Hell, even her felt forced given that so far, all their interactions have been emotionally charged and not in a positive way – Alder's interest in her seems to start and end on his desire to fuck her, while hers have been her, you know, .

These characters do not know one another enough for me to believe they have earned one another’s loyalty, let alone anything deeper, and it ruins an otherwise fascinating setting and set of characters. It was short, though, so I’ll read the next book and hope for the best.

This is a very erotic book, nearly from the first few pages. Stranded by a rogue wormhole in an unknown quadrant of space, far from other humans, Tommelise and her ship's intelligence, Blue are carrying on with salvage work in an effort to get home again. To manage it they need a local crew. Then they run into a trio of three different species-- one of who looks tremendously like an extra handsome human-- running a scam in a bar. Tommi follows her instincts and recruits them. The wisest of them accepts, moments before the station authorities sound the alert.

I really enjoyed learning about the three different males and their contrasting species back-stories. I further enjoyed how Tommi decides to give in to the pheromones of the situation and physically bond with the crew member who requires it most urgently. Each of her new crew proves their worth in turn as they all put their intelligences to the task of staying alive in the daunting custody of the Bufo Empress.

There's a lot of unusual secretions and mind-boggling fight scenes including them. The cover portrait of our heroine shows her hair stiff with a gray material when she's described initially as strawberry blond, and you might not want to know exactly why. But it suits her, and shows how far she's willing to go to make this extraordinary crew function at optimum levels.

If you like your sex truly mind-blowing, this is the series for you.

Thank you, Booksprout.

Margo Bond Collins is an author whose work I always enjoy. Tiny and Fierce is another fun read. Not deep and meaningful, but a great escape from reality. The blurb sets the scene. A quick easy read. Enjoyable with action and adventure. Told from the 4 POVs and that enables back story to be introduced for each of the different aliens, each of whom is a wanted for various crimes. But you need to suspend your critical faculties. Lise blackmails three alien conmen into joining as crew for her ship. Really! one tiny human female and three large and dangerous aliens, and they don't decide to take over her ship? Maybe Blue, the ship's AI, and Lise's bestie would baulk at obeying anyone else. Being different species, the crew have different talents that are put to good use in their encounters with authorities. Not quite a reverse harem, one sexual encounter with interesting alien action. The other crew lust after their captain, so perhaps the harem comes together in the next books. Will I read the next book? definitely. Would I recommend this book? Yes if you are a SciFi fan, love aliens and don't mind a slow burn romance and a cliff hanger ending.

"Warriors made one through adversity"...

I really enjoyed this character driven story. It reaches a satisfying conclusion, setting up the next story, not a cliff hanger, but not a 100% done in one either.

Lise and her ships Blue slipped through a wormhole that closed behind them, and have no idea where their shortcut home is. Surviving in this far off quadrant of the galaxy has been hard enough with a stocked ship, but as supplies/resources begin to run low Lise realizes she needs a crew, locals who know the quadrant... and how the local game is played.

Once I got into the rhythm of the story I was hooked, each chapter isn't just from another character's perspective, but brings with it their different cultures, language (Evik releases scents as part of his communication), and viewpoint... marriage is my past, to be avoided, if I'm lucky I'm one of multiple beings that will come together so none are ever alone again. (That last one is oversimplified, and way better in the story.)

For me, this Kindle Unlimited quick read was a page turner. It ends with a promise of another story in the series, and given how much fun I had with these characters (The story is perfectly titled), and the interesting world building in this book, I can't wait to read more.

Intriguing poly concept...

While shorter stories are usually underdeveloped, this one had more detail and world building than many others.

Heroine: Displaced human in the big, bad universe.
Heroes: Not human, sorta human, and humanish.

I loved the idea of a female being thrown into the universe and having to learn how to survive on her own. Unfortunately, that was the first issue I had. Currency, trade, communication, interaction. All so different from her home. Understands space as she knows it, but applies that knowledge to her new existence. Okay...but then the males she encounter allow her to take charge of everything. Her ship and they need a little help. Okay. Still, makes no sense when the heroine really has no understanding of the different races, rulers, and politics in place. Even with an AI as backup, the dynamic felt shortsighted and off.

The character development is well done. I liked all of the characters, both their attributes and flaws. I just couldn't get into the sexual relationship with the non human character. He was likeable, but too far out of my world-view (attraction) acceptance. Again, that's on me. The set-up was good for the continued storyline. However, the novella length book (or between novella and novel) left a lot of room for more world building, more characterization...just more. Again, I think that's me.

I do like the characters enough to continue the series. So, on to book two...

Lise and her ship Blue, were sucked through a wormhole that closed up behind them. They are stuck along in a hostile world of an evil empress. Lise decides she needs a crew that are familiar with the ins and out of survival there until she can find her way home. Unfortunately, the three men she “blackmails” into becoming her crew all have bounties on their heads. Before they can leave the planet, they are captured and taken to the empress. They are to be sold as slaves. Before that can happen, they manage to escape with a bunch of females that were about to be sold as “breeders “. They manage to deliver the women to the only neutral planet in the galaxy. They escaped from there, after off loading the females so that the “crew “ wouldn’t be discovered and taken into custody. Now they are wanted by everyone!! They decide the only way to survive is to cripple the empress by destroying her slave business, which supports her. No money, no bounty!! Brilliant, if not a little stupid! This is the first book of a series.

Lise (Tommelise) stumbled through an unknown wormhole and is far away from her home, she is not the first human in this new galaxy she finds herself in, but all she has is her ship AI (Blue) and a ship, but she needs a crew to help her get better jobs. She finds some interesting men, setting up a con. Can she convince them to join her? The alien men she found were Alder (a fae/human), Evik (a insectoid Chilchek warrior, who mainly uses clicks to communicate with the mammals around him) and Morpheus (a humanoid alien with dragonfly like wings). All these alien men have had their fair share of trouble, and it just might follow them onto Lise's ship. I loved Lise, she is tough, knows her own mind, and has plenty of sass to go around. She challenges the alien men she has invited aboard her ship, and their story has some romance, lots of action/danger and intrigue. It might not be for everyone, because it's a reverse harem story (and not all the aliens are humanoid). I hope there are more stories to come about this interesting crew.

Tiny and Fierce is a galaxy spanning story. Lise is a human searching for a way home and in need of help. The first item on her list is finding a crew.

This story is told from multiple perspectives- giving differnt views on events. The ship is a character on it's own.

I was wrapped up in the story from the beginning. It took me a little bit to tie the names of the crew to their description and character, but they were not known to Lise at that time either. They came to life as Lise began to learn about them and we got to enter their minds as they took over narrating the story.

The action was intense. The danger they are in kept going up. Just when it seems impossible, there is a way - I mean, its book 1.

Each member of the crew is drawn to Lise in his own way. I loved how Lise handled the tension.

This was a great read that held my attention until the very end. I cannot wait to get my hands on book 2. I need to know what happens next.

*I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great start to a new series. I love how we jumped into the action straight away, and I absolutely loved how alien the aliens were! They really aren’t human at all, even the Fae Prince who is most humanoid in looks has several biological quirks that are definitely not human. I loved it! The Chilcheck warrior especially has significant biological differences that I’ve never seen written before in an alien hero. If you enjoy RH and sci-fi definitely don’t miss this series. I only have a few minor complaints. One, the story is a little on the short side. As a result, I thought some of the world and character-building suffered a bit for that, it could have been a bit more fleshed out. And second, now I have to wait till next year for next in the series! I hope we get to find out a bit more about the guys’ backgrounds in the next one.

A romp through the universe!

This is an action-packed adventure from beginning to end. Four conmen/pirates of four different species join together to better conduct prosperous schemes. The “tiny and fierce” member is the human female Lise who owns the ship. Her compatriots are male, hence the reverse harem. There is an explicit sex scene of Lise and an alien of insectoid origin. If you find this offensive, you should probably give this series a miss.

The atmosphere is mostly light-hearted. These are not violent criminals, but three of them are wanted for “crimes” that we would not consider crimes. They are captured, escape, free all the breeding slaves…..and so the manhunt is on!

The epilogue sets up their next caper so I’m sure Margo plans this as the beginning of a new series. Give it a try if it sounds like your cup of tea.

With a trade like hers, Lise needed a con-skilled and manageable crew and when Mistress Opportunity put it in front of her, she didn't hesitate. Adventure, danger and passion awaited her with three males of different species but each one with its charms. More intriguing, all the characters had something to hide! I really liked the character of Lise, small but smart, open-minded, determined and in control. A woman who knows what she wants and how to get it. These are the heroines that catch my attention and the stories the more out of the ordinary the better. My imagination ran all the time trying to imagine the scenes and the literal translation. Ah! That Chilchek was a fast learner! Amusing and very entertaining with some suspense, jealousy, mystery, some violence, romance and passion. Eager for the next book. Voluntarily reviewed this book that I liked and received free from Booksprout.

Lise and her ship’s AI, “Blue”, were sucked through a wormhole into a new, unfamiliar galaxy ruled by an evil empress. She needs to find a way to survive while she tries to get back home. And she is going to need a crew.

The possibilities Lise finds for her ship are 3 aliens trying to run a con. So she blackmails them, not knowing what a problem the bounties on their heads may cause her later. They all get captured and taken to the empress who plans to sell them as slaves. Will they be able to escape? Is there any place to run to out of the empress’ clutches?

This story was quite a bit crazy. I am deliberately avoiding discussion of the reverse harem. Only one of her crew is humanoid, and the thought of her getting it on with an insectoid species made me shudder. This book wasn’t what I expected and I’m still considering whether I am courageous enough to try Book 2 or not.

Tommelise and her ship, Blue, have traveled through an unexpected wormhole and ended up a long way from home. If she is going to survive in this dangerous solar system she needs a crew, and not just any crew. She needs a smart crew that knows this part of space and has nothing to lose. She needs Morpheus, Evik, and Alder. A more mismatched bunch of alien lifeforms would be hard to find but they all have one thing in common, they are running from their pasts and just barely keeping ahead. When they meet Lise they gain another commonality, they all want her.

Join Lise, Alden, Evik, Morpheus, and Blue as they take on a crazed queen, the United Galaxies enforcers, and anyone else who gets in their way. But the story won't end here. Stay tuned.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

I read this so fast that when I came to the epilogue I was broken hearted, I was not ready for this to end. I wanted to keep reading and find out what happened next with the characters. The story line held my interest and drew me in to the point I could not stop reading it.

I enjoy the reverse harem genre and I cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out. It threw me a little with the difference in biology between the characters but it is a human and aliens and takes place in space; anything is possible. As long as an open mind is kept and people can remember there is a difference between reality and fiction there shouldn’t be any problems.

I give this five out of five stars because the plot line drew me in and held me hostage all the way to the end of the story. I am impatient to get my hands on to the sequel of this book and can’t wait to see what happens.

I loved these characters. Can’t wait to see what happens next. After an unfortunate event thrust Elise and her ship Blue through a wormhole, she has decided to try to make a living in this galaxy as she can’t find a way back to her own. But she needs a crew and takes on three friends and conmen. They are all wanted men, but not because of their cons, but because they were escaping terrible situations and are wanted back. Elise might by tiny in stature but she makes up for it in smarts and inner strength and it doesn’t take long before she gains the respect and love of her new crew. Now they need to take on one of the worst rulers in the galaxy and shut her down. Can a crew of four and a smart ship do the job?
