Cassie Woods just landed her first big case. Determined to prove herself as a private investigator and catch a cheater, Cassie discovers more than she bargained for, when the unveiling of a devastating secret initiates the emergence of an unwanted gift. Nothing is ever simple. Her personal life is chaos… Her professional life is a mine field… Her hormones are raging out of control… It's going to be an awe-inspiring lesson in self-restraint…
What you will find between the pages: Humour (twisted, dirty, ridiculous), sexy sensual romance, and probably (although I try to tone it down) profanity.
My stories will always be supernatural, romance, suspense: ghosts, fairies, etc.
I read less than I'd like to, eat more chocolate than I should, and more likely than not you will find me chilling with a glass of red; on a good day, I'll drink straight from the bottle...
A “Wild resolution that one was,” a line in the novel sums it up for me.
This book was a refreshing change from the norm, although, I’m not sure what genre it fits into. I’m calling it the great story genre. I bet you can tell a lot about an author by the books they write. I loved hearing about the life of a burgeoning private investigator and although I have no real-life experiences to base this belief on, Ravenna Young’s Third Eye P.I. seems very real and authentic. I have the utmost respect for authors who write from experience and/or do their homework in the way of research. I’m guessing there’s both going on here. This realism also happens at the ranch and with the horses, which brings the reader on board in a big way.
The main character is about as plain and flawed a character as you’ll ever read, and that’s what makes Cassie Woods lovable, sexy and the perfect protagonist, the kind readers root for, women want to be like, and men just want. Young describes her mission best: “She needed to prove her value as an investigator, and save the world from one more cheater.” I love it.
Young puts you in dynamic settings, doesn’t linger or bog you down with heavy description. Plain and simple, she gets to the point. The writing is good with lines like, “The chills that traveled, with sadistic speed, up her spine to the base of her neck became impossible to ignore as they morphed into a full-body, traitorous burn.” The story is solid, the sex sexual, and the characters well developed, so much so, from the mysterious Daniel to the loyal Eryn, you know who’s talking just by the words they say and their actions. Young also does a good job of showing over telling, and the subtle supernatural elements she sprinkles in completes the package making Third Eye P.I. highly recommended.
What an incredible blend of so many different aspects, this book entails. In addition to the main character and support characters all being so real and likeable for their diverse personalities, this story also has a blend of action that provided another depth to the story again. There is realism in all aspects of the human side of the characters - I think women readers in particular will be able to easily relate to many things going on with Cassie's body and mind, which cause her confusion. As if all of this weren't enough to make this a great book, as the story develops there is a further aspect to it that would start to push it on towards the direction of paranormal. Overall, I loved this story and would easily have jumped to the follow up story immediately if I could find one.
Third Eye PI starts with a dream that feels more like a premonition and so it begins.
Cassie Woods and Greg are happily married. Cassie also has a younger sister, Sara, and a best friend, Eryn, with whom she is very close. Cassie is hired for night surveillance to keep an eye on a client’s errant wife, who may be having an affair with Jack Brady, a Karate instructor. However the infidelity she uncovers lies far closer to home than she would like.
So far, so domestic, but then the tale begins to veer away from the simple woman scorned plot, though these aspects are well done, into a concoction of sexual encounters, mystery, intrigue, psychic powers and the sexily attired assistant in a local pet store.
Third Eye PI is a hard book to pin down; in a good way. Essentially it is Cassie’s story from the disintegration of one relationship to her serial sexual awakening fueled by the constant demands of her loins. It’s funny, charming, sexy and exciting, and rattles along at a cracking pace. Though occasionally the breathlessness of events, and sometimes the author’s overly complex word choices, when a simpler one would suffice, can be a little distracting. But through it all Cassie shines as an interesting and engaging heroine.
Four stars, just don’t read it out loud to your grandmother.
Book Title: Third Eye P.I. (Third Eye P.I.) Book Authors: Ravenna Young Source: Was gifted by the author for an honest review Rating: 4.5 stars
This is a story about a woman who went from horse racing to becoming a private investigator. However, something changed inside of her and she realized that some of her dreams are coming true. She has to work while hurting from a life event that changed everything for her, having an interest in several men, and learning a theory about the dreams from her father. Overall, an interesting take on paranormal in the P.I. business.
My only complaint was that the beginning was so predictable and it took about forty pages to get past that predictable event. However, after she finally moved on and really started focusing on her job, the story got more interesting and less predictable, which was good.
It's a nicely written novel and I will probably read book two. Mainly because I'm rooting for one of her love interests - her boss. Just saying.
This novel is for eighteen years of age and older due to language, sexual scenes, and adult ideas.
**copy provided by author** I was asked to write an honest review after reading 'Third Eye PI' by Ravenna Young and I'm glad I agreed.
I started to read 'Third Eye P.I' and the first page jumps into the mystery, then into Cassies life as a new private detective. I liked reading Cassie, she is a young sole who says what ever is on her mind, unfiltered. 'Third Eye P.I is filled with erotica, Mystery and physic powers which was a nice touch to the book. 'Third Eye P.I' follows Cassies through a though time in her life with the real life drama of men to chose from and confuse things.
I enjoyed reading Ravenna Young's writing as it was easy to follow and well written. She has a lovely descriptive way to her writing and the Sex scenes are spot on. I liked the way she described Cassie's lady part, it has real shock factor that made me smile. Cassie is real and believable and marches to the beat of her own drum. And I look forward to reading the next book to find out what happens in Hawaii with Ben.
Third Eye P. I. had all the elements that I love in a great mystery and then some. All I could think of was move over Nancy Drew 'cause there's a new woman sleuth in town!
Cassie Woods thought she had the perfect marriage. Until, she finds her husband Greg in bed with her sister, Sara. It's bittersweet, since the case she's now working on is to catch a cheating spouse. Now, she's more determined than ever to bring closure for her client. Who thinks his wife is having an affair with her Karate instructor. As Cassie's personal life falls apart, she finds solace in work, friends and her sexy new libido..
Just when I thought I had this book all figured out, Young threw something new in the mix. Switching things up and changing directions. And it worked! Now, I'm looking forward to reading more of Cassie's adventures!
I found this one uninteresting. When the main character talks about her vagina, she calls it "the whore between my legs" A LOT. Cassie finds her younger sister in bed with her husband and within 24 hours she is having sex in her best friend's barn. She seems to have a sexual attraction to anything with a penis, including the boss she has been working with for awhile now, but all of a sudden wants her naked with. The so called "mystery" not much of a mystery. This new employee just happens to have to same dream, vision, sight, gift thing she has? To top it all off her long list dad come back saying they have fairy blood and he's been in hiding from the Chinese? For 28 years, but it's okay now. COME ON! I managed to finish it, but it was not an easy reading for me because it was just boring.
This story is amazing, the theme is something special. This author has done a magnificent job with this story. The characters are wonderful, the plot is unique and very well explored. This is truly an attention grabbing story. I want more. Great Read for all who love a great mystery.
I downloaded Third Eye PI as a free book from Amazon. This book read like a compilation of three unrelated plots, two different genres (detective, and paranormal), and a magic eight ball to determine chapter sequence.
*** SPOILERS ***
Segues from one thought to the next often made no sense, and the main character, Cassie was not one I could identify with in any of her actions, especially the indiscriminate sexual thoughts so soon after catching her husband in bed with her sister, and her vindictive actions toward her soon-to-be-ex as she moves out of the house.. I especially hated her referring to her vagina as the "wh*** between my legs" (or variations of the same). Third Eye PI has an interesting premise behind the overall story outline, but the mystery behind the cheating spouse she was following (not her own) was too obvious, and some of the subplots were too outrageous and/or coincidental (the reason behind the sudden appearance of the father, the secret behind the new coworker, and the stalker who suddenly pops into the story to add some faux-suspense, or not) to be believed. By the end of the book, Cassie still hasn't filed for divorce-- come on, after her over the top reaction to him cheating, that should have been the first thing she did. I didn't like the story at all, but there were only a couple obvious edit errors, so I'm going to assume my reaction is more subjective and the author may have people who enjoy the hot mess story line, therefore, my 2.5 was rounded up to a three.
I spent most of my time reading this book smiling and gasping as I followed Cassie Woods on her first case as a private detective.
Caught up in a madness of comical and dangerous situations with her her boss, her bestie and the dog she got suckered into buying, Cassie just about manages to solve the case while her private life falls apart.
Was it really possible to resist the new hire at the firm, her boss’ great ass and her best friend’s brother or would “the whore between her legs” finally win over? And just what was behind those dreams?
All this and more was answered before the book sadly came to an end. It was a great read and I can’t wait for Cassie’s next adventure.
This book got me hooked from the first chapter till the very end. The characters are very well developed and the story takes unusual and surprising turns along the way, making this journey so thrilling.
3.75 stars ( The timeline kind of seemed a little off) This was an entertaining book. Although it is described as a mystery, I don't think that is an accurate description. I would say it is a contemporary fiction novel. Many times it was funny. I loved Cassie and her friend Eryn. Cassie sassy and funny. Eryn was strong and hot tempered and loyal. There were many eyebrow raising and eye popping moments. The things Cassie was going through in her personal was just crazy. The worst of it concerning her sister. I like the investigation part of the story. I wish the author included the final results, after talking to the clients. By the end of the book, Cassie's mind was on the romantic possibilities with three me she knew. The author has the reader routing for the favorite. For me, I have narrowed it down to two that I think she should end up with. I am hoping I can read the next book, not just for the possible romance but for the next case.
This was a quick, easy read. I can honestly say it is the only story I've read that takes place in Saskatchewan, which is cool. While I didn't feel I had a ton in common with our main character, her dilemmas were intriguing. A few of the plot developments were expected, but a number of twists were thrown in that raised my eyebrows and had me turning the page to learn more. My favorite aspect of the story was the relationship between the main character and her best friend. If only we could all be as lucky to have someone so close, open, and honest, who stands by us, unconditionally! While the story offers resolution to the main story lines, there are some details "left hanging", that foster curiosity and anticipation for book two of the series. Interesting start!
The juicy bits happen right away. You read a third of the book before receiving any clarity about the storyline. At eighty seven percent of the book, it finally mentions the whole third eye thing. A bunch of fluff and filler, not enough to make me want to buy the next book. (Is it eryn or erin?!) Editing was a disappointment at best.
Fledgling PI Cassie has a lot to prove. Both her personal and business life take unexpected twists and turns as she meets challenges head on and is confronted by personal loss and danger. Her antics had me laughing out loud. I look forward to reading more books featuring Cassie as she stumbles through the PI business, her personal life and comes into her power.
Cassie Woods works for Randy Tyler Investigations and, having recently obtained her P.I. Licence, is looking forward to her first surveillance job. Happy in her marriage to Greg, her whole world falls apart when she returns home unexpectedly. The shock and horror at what she finds is very skilfully conveyed. Cassie is working on the Schmidt case which involves her tailing Tricia Schmidt, whose husband, Jason, suspects of having an affair. Cassie is led on a trail which takes her to a local pet store, although the Schmidts have no pets. What could Tricia be doing there? The author constructs a clever plot line which kept me guessing. Cassie and her co worker, Daniel, set up video surveillance with surprising results. I would have liked to see Jason Schmidt's reaction to the resolution of this case. Cassie is a likeable character. She makes mistakes but stays positive and keeps on going, whatever happens. She gets into sticky situations; for instance, having to quickly get out of the Schmidt's house. She's loyal to her friend Eryn. There's plenty of humour in this book. The episode where Cassie gets caught by a police officer whilst taking a covert pee outside her surveillance van is very funny. Also, she isn't afraid to laugh at herself. She's troubled by her instant sexual attraction to any man she comes into contact with. She's even turned on by Daniel's accent and can't understand why she's suddenly attracted to her boss, Randy. This is a very interesting and intriguing book. Cassie is haunted by several dreams which seem to come true. She feels a special connection to Daniel and the reason for this is explained at the end of the book. The final scenes are gripping and fast paced. However, I couldn't understand why the decision was taken to cover up what had happened, rather than reporting it to the police. I also felt the sub-story towards the end of the book, which involved the unexpected appearance of Cassie's father, to be unnecessary and detracted from the main plot. I enjoyed this book and would be interested to see how Cassie's character develops. Her special gift is intriguing and adds an air of mystery. Hopefully, her work as a P.I. will take her on many more adventures.
Cassie Woods (PI, Tyler Investigations) was assigned her 1st job by Randy Tyler (boss, Tyler Investigations). Jason Schmidt (client) thought his wife Tricia Schmidt was cheating on him with Jack Brady, their son Chase karate instructor. Tricia had also stayed to watch. Eryn Miller (BFF) was helping Cassie with the stakeout.
Cassie came home from her job 1 day & low/behold what was Greg Montgomery (husband, ER nurse) up to? Randy expanded the business & also provided firearms & training. Daniel Harris (Tyler Investigations, New Zealand) was the newest employee.
What would the dynamic duo of Cassie & Daniel find out about Tricia?
& What about Ryan Seida & Kathy Seida? How will Cassie’s love/sex life turn out?
Warning: This book is for adults only & contains extreme violence, adult content or expletive language &/or sexually explicit scenarios. It may be offensive to some readers.
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written mysterious erotic book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of very unique/colorful characters to keep track of. This could also make another great erotic mystery movie, or mini TV series. To be continued. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

What a rollicking good time! I give this a solid 4.5 stars.
Third Eye P.I. was a thoroughly enjoyable read. We meet Cassie, a twenty-something private investigator on her first solo case. But if you expect this book, or her case, to be a straightforward "cheating spouse" assignment... you're in for a treat!
While investigating a case, Cassie has her whole world turned upside down. Not only does her marriage fall apart, but now she's having dreams that are coming true! Add that to her fledgling PI escapades and the fact that her sex drive is suddenly at level 1 million, and this was one laugh out loud ride! Doesn't hurt that Cassie is surrounded by some serious man-candy either!
What kept me from giving the book 5 stars was the last chapter. It was good, but it felt rushed. Just as the story, and Cassie's case, are wrapping up nicely the author threw in one more climactic event (no, this one has nothing to do with Cassie's libido, get your mind out of the gutter). I'm sure this will play out further in he next book, but I felt like too many details were just glossed over.
Despite that, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to more of Cassie's adventures.
**I recieved a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**
Hilarious and unexpected, Third Eye P.I. is not your average private investigator with something to prove. Despite some serious and shocking revelation in her personal life, Cassie embarks on her first real case. To say that the events of this novel are surprising and filled with twists and turns would be an understatement. I was constantly trying to figure out where the story was going and pleased to find the author kept things interesting from the start.
The book is well written, the characters as fun as they are real, and even those that I hated, including Sara and Greg, were well developed. The plot moved along at a consistent pace, and I never felt it was moving too slow or too fast. I have to admit that Cassie had me laughing out loud on multiple occasions. Her wit and dry humor combined with her totally unabashed sexual desires made her a fun character to read. The ending and the truth of her origin was intriguing and I find myself a little disappointed that not more was revealed. All in all, it's a great story and decidedly unique which I always enjoy.
Now that I'm done with the first book I can't wait to read the next set of adventures with Cassie!
This story follows an interesting and very honest character, Cassie. She is a private investigator with a developing talent to see into the future through her dreams.
There are favorite dramatic themes in this story such as cheating, mysterious strippers, and a troubled love life- but still holds so much intrigue as the author creatively adds unexpected twists. I wasn't able to predict what was going to happen next.
One of my favorite quotes: "Your dad's back, and you're a fairy? Wow!
I look forward to reading more of these naughty and surprising books.
When Cassie Woods starts as a PI she has no idea how her world’s about to change. And it’s this transformation that makes 3rd Eye PI an absolute pleasure to read. Her adventures, and the honesty that she faces them with, are an amazing and welcome change from scotch soaked case files and sultry femme fatales.
I think that’s what really sealed this one for me. I loved the humor and the heart. Though it should be said there are plenty of grim/grisly moments. Not a one of them bothered me but for the thinner skinned readers there are some shocks that might just give them the vapors. There’s sex, murder, lies, and deceit, but all these twists and turns are believable, and give the work a true feeling of authenticity, and considering its pacing and tone its an easy recommendation and five stars!
Third Eye PI is my first Ravenna Young novel and I'm so glad I finally got to read it! At first, after reading the prologue, I thought, what am I in for? Because I have found most prologues unnecessary as I read the novel. But this opener was interesting. Intriguing, even. It did exactly what it was supposed to. It made me want to keep reading. Then, the story took off right from chapter one. I found myself enthralled in this witty, spooky, and even laugh out loud funny novella. Cassie Woods is a crazy person with a crazy life and an even crazier job. All of that makes for a really great, quick read. If I had one complaint about this book, it would be that it's too short. I'm looking forward to reading more of Ravenna Youngs work.
*I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
I loved this read. it was sexy, funny, and fast-paced. I enjoyed the story and the twists it took. I am trying not to give it away, but it was hilarious. Cassie finds herself in some unusual situations and the precognition thing was interesting. I hate when the psychics know everything except the one thing they are supposed to know. In this book, Cassie is trying to figure out her new found gifts but her attraction to three different men get in the way. There are some really steamy love scenes in this book...
I had some hopes for this one. It was relatively decently written. Then it just got sloppy...and sloppier...and then there was so much slut shaming I could not handle it anymore. Also, the protagonist is kind of a bitch, and not even in the way you can vote for.
