The first five murder mysteries of the acclaimed Masters and Green series in one box set. Starting with the murder of the chairman of a powerful pharmaceutical company, the two inspectors come together to solve a crime with a growing list of suspects. Over the next novels, they travel from rural England where a murdered vicar has the village terrified; to a quiet seaside resort where five victims pose a mysterious and deadly pattern for the duo. Hailed as "compulsive reads", the Masters and Green series come "highly recommended to anyone who loves well-plotted mysteries with proper detection and deduction". Praise for Douglas 'The many who miss the properly clued inductive detective story will fall on this one with relief' - Times Literary Supplement 'A good, satisfying, competent whodunit, intelligently thought out and believable without unnecessary fireworks of sex or violence. And the answer, when it comes, is much more convincing than the majority of those in thriller dénouements' - Anthony Price, Oxford Mail
The collection of stories is enjoyable and intriguing. It’s nicely written with plenty of intrigue and technical detail to maintain interest. My reservation is that the central theme of the tension between the two senior police is overdone and becomes a bit tedious.
