I enjoy reading the English Standard Version. This Bible is a combination of the women's devotional Bible and the study Bible. The study Bible notes are abbreviated quite a bit, but still provide helpful answers to common questions. The devotionals are excellent. They focus on the main point of the text, apply well, and point to Christ. I highly recommend this Bible.

The ESV Study Bible is a favorite of many, and the ESV Women’s Devotional Bible is another Bible that is valued by many women. So, I was very excited to see that Crossway was coming out with the ESV Women’s Study Bible! This Bible is a cross between the ESV Study Bible and the ESV Women’s Devotional Bible. It contains a condensed version of the study notes from the study Bible and some of the devotional material from the devotional Bible. I am finding it to be the perfect combination of study and devotional Bible!

I have a hardcover copy, and it has a teal blue dust jacket with gold trim. The Bible itself has a similar teal blue color, with Women’s Study Bible in gold on the front cover. The spine is a darker shade of blue, with “ESV”, “Women’s Study Bible”, and “Crossway” stamped in gold. There are also beautiful gold flowers and peacock feathers stamped on the spine and front cover. It is very feminine and classy! It has a sewn binding and no art gilding. I actually am starting to prefer not having art gilding because I always mess it up fairly quickly. It has one teal colored ribbon.

Each book of the Bible begins with an introduction and timeline. The introduction includes the author, date, and recipients, key themes, and background. I also love that there is a gorgeous page of art with the name of the book and the art in gold. If you have seen the Illuminated Bible or Illuminated Journals, this is the art that you will see in this Bible. There are also some other full page scripture art pages throughout. Besides being beautiful, it also is a wonderful study resource. The Bible contains over 13,000 study notes, and 350 reflections on selected passages. There are articles about theological topics such as Missional Living, Learning to Pray from the Psalms, and The Church and Women at Risk. There are 120 character profiles throughout the Bible as well. It has a large concordance and cross references for studying purposes. The paper is 30 gsm. I have not been able to find the font size, but I would guess about an 8 point font for the Bible text and around 7 point font for the notes. But, that is just my estimate. There are 15 full color maps in the back of the Bible.

This Bible is the perfect mixture of art, study notes and guides, and devotional material. It could be used for reading, studying, or personal devotions. My only suggestions on how to improve this Bible would be to increase the font size, although that would also make the Bible larger. I would like to see a bolder and slightly larger font. I also think the gold is lovely, but it can be harder to see for the headings, chapter and verse numbers, and in the study notes. The gold works well for the artwork, but it would be nice to see a darker color for these other features.

If you are looking for a Bible that can be used for multiple purposes, and is still not too heavy to carry around, the ESV Women’s Study Bible would be an excellent choice. I plan to use it for at home study and for morning or evening devotional time.

This Bible is so beautiful! It is advertised as combining the Women’s Devotional Bible with the ESV Study Bible. It has all of this and more. The artwork is gorgeous! Each book has a full outline, information for the reader and a small map to show what the area would have looked like at the time. The articles in the back are challenging and life giving! Crossway has done a great job making an already beautiful book gorgeous. I would recommend this Bible for every woman to get for herself or request it for a gift! It is absolutely worth it!!!

Followed the Navigators bible reading plan and completed the bible in a year! I liked how it included both Old Testament and New Testament passages each day, and I feel like I was able to draw more connections between the overall Gospel story that way!

Such a beautiful Bible! The notes are written specifically for women and its so obvious in the intentionality by the Bible's impressive list of contributors.
