One Hot Holiday is book six in the Wilde Ways series by Cynthia Eden. This book is the perfect mix of holiday cheer, a few shenanigans, suspense, and sexy times.

Haley Quick loved her life in New York as the manager of a gallery. She finally let her defenses down and let herself fall for a handsome man who said all the right things. Only to realize none of it was real. Underneath that handsome face laid an evil man. She knew too much and now he wanted her dead. So she ran. What better place to hide and hopefully start over than the tiny town of Point Hope, Alabama.

Sheriff Spencer Lane grew up in Point Hope. It was home. And after he served as a Navy Seal, it was where he wanted to be. On the outside, Spencer seems like a laid back, small town sheriff. But he has deadly skills he acquired as a seal. Skills he hopes will never be needed in Point Hope. That was until Haley came to town.

As soon as Spencer saw Haley, he couldn’t believe how beautiful she was. And when they touched, it was electric. But Haley has so many secrets. The last thing she needs is a swoony sheriff hanging around. Only much to her surprise, the sexy sheriff turns out to also be her new land lord.

Haley is determined to keep Spencer in the friend zone but Spencer is determined to be more. He knows she is hiding something, that she’s scared. But she doesn’t know what he’s capable of. He will use every resource available to him to keep her safe. Because he has plans for Haley Quick. He is not planning on letting her run again. He has plans of making her his.

“In the storm he was her center.”

This was actually pretty suspenseful. Cynthia kept me guessing all the way through. I loved Haley and Spencer’s connection. Spencer was all tough and gruff and alpha but he was so tender with Haley. The ending was so cute.

This is a perfect addition to your holiday reading list. I have only read a few of Cynthia’s books but I definitely plan to read more.

I was determined to read a holiday themed story this year before Christmas. I decided to pick up one of Cynthia Eden’s books because I have always enjoyed her work! This one was just ok for me. I think I prefer her paranormal stories over contemporary ones. This one wasn’t terrible, but it was just ok for me. If I’m being honest, I would say that I will forget the details of this book within a month.
Even as far as the main couple went, I just wasn’t feeling their connection much at all. I also expected more holiday stuff going on, but the story mainly consisted of the danger that Hayley was in and how Spencer was trying to keep her safe.

All in all, it was just an ok read for me! I think I’ll stick to this author’s sexy paranormal stories!! Most of them are smoking hot with very possessive alpha males!!! Just how I like them!❤️

Holy mistletoe…this was one crazy, danger filled, wildly romantic holiday read!

When Haley arrives in Pointe Hope to hide out, the last thing she wanted was to land on the local sheriff’s radar. But she’s more than on Spencer’s radar, she immediately captures not only his desire but his suspicions. Haley Quick is running and fortunately, she’s run right into Spencer Lane’s life.

description

Haley isn’t a kick tail heroine. Her strength comes from a past that is determined to catch up to her. As her relationship with Spencer grows and she fears that she may have brought trouble to him and his town, she continues to grow until she’s able to do exactly what’s needed to keep herself and the man who has captured her heart safe. I loved that she was soft and sweet while also fierce, loyal and determined.

description

Spencer is absolutely perfect. A little rough around the edges, he isn’t one for flowy words. But when it comes to protecting Haley he knows exactly what he needs to do. With a bit of jealous possessiveness to color his character, he was everything I love in a hero. Of course, I tend to fall in love with every one of this author’s heroes. It’s a thing.

description

This story is layered with danger at every turn and all of it laced with the growing emotions of both Haley and Spencer. Their chemistry is believable and watching their relationship develop was pure enjoyment. The steam between them was enough to melt the polar ice cap and have me tossing off my comfy sofa blanket and switching from hot cocoa to iced tea. Add in plenty of quick, sharp one liners and a list of characters that had me laughing and then longing for more of them, and you’ve got one perfect Christmas treat in your hands.

2.5 Shockingly Disappointed Stars

I'm a big Cynthia Eden fan, but getting through this book was kinda hard, it's been a while since I've read any of her books, which happily sit in my kindle, but this felt like a amalgamation of key tropes from previous books - something that I usually wouldn't mind, but this time around, the characters and the dialogue made me feel it painfully. There was a lack of energy when it came to the main characters' interactions, and it just generally felt meh.

Well I actually saw this book at the back of another book and didn't even realize it was part of a series smh but either way I don't think today was my day to read this because it didn't really work for me and I'm hard pressed to figure out why. This author has a basic formula but sometimes it just doesn't quite hit the mark

H has been celibate a while u think(3 books in one day makes details harder to recall lol)
h has been on the run from her ex for 6 months he makes a reappearance

This was a fabulous story with a relationship that developed fast and boy did I enjoy the dialogue. Spence might be a small town sheriff but you underestimate him at your peril ! This story starts a it meant to go on with Elves, snow ( well almost) and all the warm feels that made me think of Christmas. I mentioned Spence because he truly shone for me but Haley was no slouch when it came to snagging her man ! Trust me show that girl some mistletoe and she's more than ready to jump in but with her past catching up all Haley wants to do is keep running but is that really what she's going to do ?
As much as I really loved this couple I also loved the characters we meet along the way. Fans of the authors Wilde series will particularly enjoy seeing old friends pop up and obviously there's not just a Ghost to watch out for but rather tasty and very self confident deputy Titus now too ! Honestly this book is fun, sweet, sexy and definitely worth your time . Easy to read and with an ending that tied everything up neatly.
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

4 - "...Merry Christmas, baby..." Stars!

Cynthia Eden takes us to Point Hope, Alabama for her seasonal offering this year, with a side order of the Wilde Securities team as back up, when Sheriff Spencer Lane, meets, saves from a pack of Elves on bicycles and then falls in love with Haley Quick. He knows from the start that this is a woman in trouble, and as the book progresses, he realises just how much danger she is in.

"I’m one of the good guys…"

"…There is no such thing as a good guy."

But with his trusty deputy Titus (fingers crossed he gets his own book) and with the backup of Wilde Securities, he sets out to bring down the man responsible for all of Haley’s problems.

"I want to be someone new here, let me be her."

Not a huge amount of suspense in this one as you know who the villain is pretty much from the first time his name is mentioned, but the author still managed to add a few twists and turns. Spencer was the kind of hero I have come to expect from her, what with being all growly-alpha and sexily over-protective, Haley held her own, and the secondary characters pulled everything together nicely (did I mention I hope Titus gets a book!).

"To get to you, he’ll have to go through me."

A great seasonal offering, not too long, easy to read, and a great close to what has been another stellar year for Cynthia Eden. Bring on 2020!

I really enjoyed this one! It’s short, sexy, and exciting. It fits into the Wilde Ways series, but can be read as a stand-alone.

Haley Quick is running from her ex, and she rents the guest house of a bigger manor house in the South. The thing about this small town is that they are Christmas-crazy! And Haley…is not.

Her plan is to lie low, not draw attention, and hope her scary ex will leave her alone.

But the second she steps onto Main Street, she’s drawing attention. Spencer Lane, sheriff, former SEAL, and all around good guy, notices her immediately. He also saves her from being run over by a parade of elves.

It turns out she’s renting his guest house for the holidays. But Spencer thinks someone is following her, and even though she won’t admit she’s running, Spencer knows she’s hiding something.

I liked the direction this story took. I also liked having Spencer know Erik Wilde, and then using his connection to help figure out what’s going on in his small town. The way Ms. Eden connects these books into a series without making them dependent on each other is wonderful for those who prefer a standalone, and for those of us who love the series, it gives us that fix as well.

I really enjoyed the peek at the newest Wilde Security employees. I can’t wait to read their stories!

Those who follow me know how much I love holiday stories. They are just the best! It's even better when it's written by an author I love. It's the best holiday treat I could ask for!

There is something about a story by Cynthia Eden that always makes me happy. She writes this wonderful hot sexy hero's that you want for yourself. Very alpha but also they want their women to be strong and stand on their own two feet. They want to stand beside their heroines, okay maybe slightly in front of them but only if they are in danger. If danger is present than they are taking over and you're out of luck.

Just be happy to know that they won't let anything happen to you.

I love how the bad guys really underestimated Spencer and his abilities. They learn the hard way no to do that. He turned out to be stronger, smart and all-around better than a lot of them. A man you'd want on your side when you are facing danger.

Now you might feel that how fast they fell in love was a bit too quick but with the length and the type of story it worked.

Now let's talk about Haley. Sometimes I liked her and other times I was like...are you crazy!!! Ha! I love characters like that. They are never boring. I got that she was having trouble trusting anyone after all she's been though. I don't blame her and would trust anyone either for a long time. But at times it was too much.

I do love how they are together. They made me laugh and sigh more than once. They work and right away you root for them.

As a whole, the story works wonderfully. It's romantic with a thread of danger running through it along with some holiday cheer. I wanted to visit the town. It sounded so cute and reminded me of Hart of Dixie. Gosh, I do miss that show.

One Hot Holiday is the perfect book to curling up by the tree this holiday for a good read. Don't forget the hot chocolate. You might need something tasty to relax with. It was great seeing the connection between Eric Wilde and Spencer. The story isn't necessary tided into the Wilde series but the quick glimpse will leave you wanting to know more if you don't know already.

She never expected to have to hide out for the holiday season in the heart of the south, but then again, Haley Quick never expected her ex to want her dead either. But life is full of surprises and she’s in Point Hope, Alabama where her Grinch-self is sticking out like a sore thumb among a town one extra crazy for the holidays. Sheriff Spencer Lane can’t believe his luck as the most beautiful, fascinating woman he’s ever seen has just dropped into this life like a gift from the big guy in red. But as an ex Navy Seal, he knows that Haley’s hiding something and he knows how to be very, very naughty.

Be prepared to get very warm indeed with One Hot Holiday…or should I say one sexy sheriff? Haley and Spencer are two strong, captivating with some fiery chemistry right from the start but with Haley running from her past so there’s plenty of resistance as well. The sheriff is protective and ready to be naughty in several different ways (LOL) but Haley isn’t really a push over and she could be just as feisty and protective.

The plot is fast paced, full of holiday cheer and shenanigans as well as excitement and suspense as the bad guys come to town in search of Haley. So along with a few laughs and lots of red hot passion, there is some twists and turns to keeps readers on their toes and ensures that this romance is one spicy read that makes their toes curl in delight.

I think you (CE) and me it’s time we part ways! It was fun while it lasted! Loved your books because you wrote strong heroines and good heroes but lately you’ve let me down. This will be my last book from you.

I hate heroines who loses their train of thoughts because the hero is hot. I hate tstl heroines. I hate how many authors write OWs. No woman would talk about how a man would “fuck, hot and dirty” without even knowing if he really does to another woman after meeting her literally 5 minutes before. This was just unnecessary and another thing, the same plot about how heroine’s ex is trying to always kill her in your books got old. Write new plots and we will see if maybe just maybe I could read another book from you.

Safe. No sex from OP after meeting each other.

Absolutely loved this stocking stuffer filled with a hot sheriff, a super, sweet run-away; dirty cops, corrupt politicians, and an absolute abuse of power.
Haley, an art gallery manager, found herself in love with an abusive, drug-dealing thug masquerading as an upstanding business man. When the charges against Andrew didn't stick, Haley was forced to run for her life. So she leaves New York and heads south straight into the arms of ex-Navy Seal, Sheriff Spencer. But how can he rescue her when Haley doesn't trust him either?

Waste of Time

Started this book thinking it sounded promising, yet as soon as I purchased it and started reading past the sample, it went downhill quickly. I feel like there was promise for the idea, but it was one of the most poorly executed stories I’ve ever suffered through. I just have nothing good to say about it. If I could give negative stars, I would. Do not recommend.

Steamy and action-packed

Sexy and suspenseful, this romance is full of heat. It wastes no time playing up the chemistry, and the action-packed storyline takes things up another notch. I was pretty disappointed that it really has nothing to do with the holidays; sure, it takes place at Christmastime, but that's largely irrelevant to the story. This one is much more focused on the instant connection, the suspense, and the steam. It's a solid romantic suspense story, but don't go into this one looking for a cute Christmas romance or a fully developed relationship.

The story follows Haley, a woman on the run. She's left the city in an effort to get away from some trouble, and finds herself in a small town for the holidays. Unfortunately, the town's sheriff has taken an interest in Haley - in more ways than one - and hiding out seems like it's going to be impossible. But as Haley and Spencer get to know each other better, Haley discovers that the sexy sheriff might be just what she needed all along.

I love a protective hero, and Spencer is definitely that. He's immediately smitten with Haley, and wants nothing more than to take of her, both in and out of the bedroom. There were a few times when his advances made me a little uncomfortable considering the conflict of interest, but that's not completely unexpected in romantic suspense. Things move at a VERY rapid pace, so you'll definitely need to be okay with an instalove vibe. It didn't bother me, but it was certainly noticeable. It's also important to note that while this is a standalone, there are a few characters from other books who make appearances that feel somewhat unresolved. Ultimately, this is for those readers who want something sexy and action-packed, and it does both of those things well.

I read part of the sample and thought the story had potential. I even bought it for 99 cents because I wanted a fun little Christmas read. But when I really started reading it, it was very poorly written. Not dual POV. Lots of italicized thoughts in the text. Hard ons after only a few minutes interactions. A zap of electricity when their hands touch. She's wearing a long brown coat when it's 70 degrees outside in Alabama. These are very beginner ideas and mistakes and just poor technique. If a story starts out bad I usually give it a chance because sometimes they turn around. But if the technique is bad that won't change, so my apologies to the author but I couldn't finish it.

For my “Wilde Ways” fans…you will meet two new Wilde agents in ONE HOT HOLIDAY (they are secondary characters), and there are a few more “Wilde” surprises in the story, too…

••••••••••

REVIEW: ONE HOT HOLIDAY is the sixth instalment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult WILDE WAYS romantic suspense series. This is Point Hope, Alabama Sheriff / former Navy SEAL Spencer Lane, and twenty four year old, art gallery manager Haley Quick’s story line. ONE HOT HOLIDAY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from several third person perspectives including Spencer and Haley ONE HOT HOLIDAY follows the building relationship between Sheriff / former Navy SEAL Spencer Lane, and twenty four year old, art gallery manager Haley Quick. Haley Quick is on the run but refuses to admit to her new landlord, Sheriff Spencer Lane that trouble follows in her wake. From the outset, Haley is stalked by someone from her past, and within hours of arriving in Point Hope, Alabama, Haley’s life continues to spiral out of control. Sheriff Spencer Lane will call in additional help from Wilde Security, in an effort to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love. What ensues is the quick building relationship and love between Spencer and Haley, and the potential fall-out as Haley wants to run in an effort to stay one-step ahead of those trying to destroy her life, people who have found our story line heroine.

Haley Quick was supposed to be in witness protection but powerful people have been ‘bought’ and Haley’s life hangs in the balance. From the FBI to private investigators, everyone is searching for our story line heroine, in the hopes of silencing Haley for good. Sheriff Spencer Lane knows immediately that something is wrong with his new tenant. Frightened and quick to run, Haley feels trapped even with the help of the local Sheriff’s office and the man with whom Haley will fall in love.

The relationship between Spencer and Haley is one of insta-lust to love. Spencer Lane’s attraction to Haley is palpable, and within hours Spencer is hoping for his own happily ever after. Haley had hoped to start her life over in the small town of Point Hope, Alabama, and meeting Spencer Lane gave our heroine pause for a possible future but a future that is threatened by someone from her past. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Wilde Security’s new agents Blair Kincaid, and Linc Dalton; deputy Titus Malone; deputy Cody Waller PI / hitman Francis Callaway, and Haley’s ex Andrew Bradley.

ONE HOT HOLIDAY is a suspense filled story of power and control; of acceptance and love; of vengeance and betrayal. The premise is engaging and captivating; the characters are colorful, energetic and dynamic; the romance is spicy and spirited.

For a long time now, every Cynthia Eden book is my last one, or so I tell myself. Nostalgia for the potential of her older books has me coming back but it looks like it's not going to be enough soon.

I'm sorry but let's be real - writing the same basic story time and again will eventually get too much even for the most resilient fan when it is as badly crafted as this one was. Eden has a trusted formula - the hot, often rich and always tortured hero meets a beautiful, hunted by her secrets woman in danger and thanks to his brief but very successful stint in a government agency/mercenary organization saves the day. All this in-between lingering looks, excessive use of the word "lover" and the potential for a great triller almost buried by sex and all those unfinished sentences. This formula works, if the ratings of Eden's books here are any indication. It sure works on me, because I keep reading them despite being constantly irritated of how great those books could be if only the author would focus more on the action and less on the lust.

And still, knowing all that beforehand, "One hot holiday" missed the bar on everything for me. The characters in this book were so one-dimensional that the main instant love/lust was more unrealistic than usual. The bad guy's motivation was not substantial enough and, because I didn't emotionally engaged with anyone, the danger level was roughly two of ten with plot predictability around eleven. Even the backdrop town irritated me with its contradictory descriptions - was it just "a dot on the map" or a popular tourist destination, how does it have more than two cops if it's so small, why is the decorations budget unlimited, how come there are more than enough artists to sustain a gallery... I have so many questions.

The whole story was like this for me - too lazily constricted to make sense if you look at it for more than a minute.

One hot holiday💗
Oh gosh, so many things I wanna say about this book! This book was filled with chances, dangers, fake Marshall, but most important love & a big gesture😉

Halley came to point hope running from her past & to make a new present.

Spencer, the town's sheriff, was a navy SEAL, his life full of danger. But now protecting, his main duty.

He saves her from being rundown by elves😀, things take a sexy turn when she founds out that he is her landlord.

A kiss under the mistletoe was all it took for the desire to explode...

But her past has caught her, with the break-in, fakery & a ghost from her past.

Halley has finally found someone worth living for & Spencer is hell-bent on keeping her safe.

Bullets fly, people die, the villain wrecking havoc.. This time he'll be stopped, once & for all.

P.s. this was just the book for coming in holiday spirit! The epilogue was Fantastic💗

P.p.s loved seeing the Wilde guys😍

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

ONE HOT HOLIDAY IS EVERY-FREAKING-THING AND A BUCKET FULL OF MORE! This is the most satisfying, super sexy, and most fun romantic suspense EVER from Cynthia Eden!

This particular romantic suspense is the most fiery and entertaining Holiday fun read I could ask for. I definitely feel the spirit of the Holidays in this story and enjoyed it IMMENSELY! Steamy, smile-inducing fun and action-packed, One Hot Holiday is unforgettable and a book to be cherished during the Christmas season. Spencer and Haley made grin, sigh, had me weak-in-the-knees and made me ever so happy. Its the best written story to date and one I will undoubtedly read again before Christmas just to get all the FEELS and all the FUN. What an incredible story.

One Hot Holiday gets a BUCKET FULL OF AWESOME FIVE SCORCHING STARS!

One Hot Holiday by Cynthia Eden is book 6 in the Wilde Ways Series. This is the story of Haley Quick and Spencer Lane. I have read the previous books (and Loved them!) but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Haley has left the city for a small town on the map called Point Hope, Alabama. Haley ex is out to really get her so she is trying to lay low and thinks this is a great place. Then she finds that Spencer Lane is the person she will be renting from which puts the hot sheriff in his sites. Spence is more than just a small town sheriff. Spencer is also a ex Navy SEAL who has a dark side but he can't believe his luck when Haley is in his sites.
I am a big fan of Ms. Eden's writing and this was a great read!
