Rate this book
Coal Creek, Colorado, 2003. Twelve-year old Ruby Dee goes missing. Her lifeless body is found the next day face down in the water, with marks around her throat. The case is never solved. The Dee family crumbles into pieces, and as Ruby's brother Marcus Dee grows older, he remains the only person with any will to find his sister's killer.

Fifteen years later, and Alice Humley’s life as a school teacher has become dull. Despite her recent engagement to long time boyfriend Dan Whittingham, a void in her life is growing, fueled by her sister’s carefree attitude and excitable recap of European adventures. A life of which Alice has only ever imagined, as she realizes the stability and comfort she originally found in Dan has grown stale.

But when Marcus Dee uncovers more evidence into his sister's murder, ambitious Detective Aidan Lannock is assigned to Ruby's case. As he shines the spotlight on Dan Whittingham and his friends as the primary suspects, Alice finds her life turning upside down.

Thrilling read. Mikes beautiful descriptions of the characters had me feeling like I was there, immersed in the small towns of Colorado. Had no idea who killed Ruby Dee until the very end! Well worth the read
