The cards hadn't shown her that anything was coming. Fate didn't tap her on the shoulder, and the tea leaves formed no warning of the danger she would be facing. Maisie wasn't ready for the nightmare when she was kidnapped and brutally beaten by an enemy of the Mischief Makers MC. But now she's finally on the mend and ready to go after the life she wants with the biker she's always loved. If he would just quit resisting her.
The biker who loves her but shouldn't
When he lays his head down at night, he relives it over and over again. The way he found the girl he's loved since they were kids. Bruised and broken, unclothed and wild with terror. The images pound at him, ripping his soul to shreds. He's struggling to keep her at arms-length while deep down in his soul he's desperate to have her by his side. It's getting harder and harder to fight her when she seems determined to tear down his walls.
The end is nigh
As Maisie breaks through and gets Scratch to see that they belong together, the brothers are pushed past their limits, and now they won't stop till the enemy is dead. With an army of brethren behind them, they're going to take on the devil with every intention of winning.
Flora Burgos is a USA Today best-selling romance author from the great state of Texas.
She found the escapism of reading at a very tender age, devouring the bodice rippers of yore, long before she'd even dreamed of a first kiss. Her first book boyfriends were swashbuckling pirates and roguish Highlanders who weren't perfect but made up for their brutish behavior with a good grovel and a happily ever after. Reading has always been an essential part of her life, and she loses herself in a good book at every opportunity.
Today, she's a mid-30's romance author and mom to a teen boy and a couple of confused, lazy pit bulls. She annoys her husband as often as she can, and she survives on poor sleep choices, too much caffeine, and too little water.
Flora loves hearing from her readers, hanging out in her reader group (Burgos Book Babes) on Facebook, and making TikToks (@authorfloraburgos) about her pit bulls and books. So glad Maisie finally got what she had wanted for almost half her life! And happy Scratch finally pulled his head out of wherever he had it buried! Loved it!!!
Again, the only reason this book isn't a 5 star read for me was the mistakes! The most annoying of which seems to be that the author doesn't seem to understand that passed is sometimes past. There were other errors as well but that one seems to be the most consistent in her books. The story was great, but those mistakes can really draw the reader out of story. Please consider a proofreader.
I forgot how much I enjoyed our Mischief Maker boys. As we re-live some of what happened in Jinx's story, watching Scratch and Maisie grow up before our eyes was a great ride indeed. Loving someone from childhood and watching them go their own way is never easy, even knowing that deep down, you might be the one they want. Unfortunately sometimes, something drastic has to happen for all to open their eyes and see what's right in front of them. Scratch found his ONE, but is he strong enough to let her in and let himself love her?
OMG! What a fantastic story! I loved it! I love the Mischief Makers MC series! Scratch is my favorite so far! Maisie has been in love with Hudson “Scratch” Myers for years and he’s been fighting it. She’s about to give up on him when danger strikes. Will Scratch be able to save her? Will they get a chance at their own hea? Flora has written another fantastic book in the Mischief Makers MC! I can’t wait to see who’s story is next!
How dumb can a man be. It's great to see that Scratch finally got his head from up his ass and did right by Mais.
I also enjoyed the underlying MC story. I'm glad that it wasn't dragged out any longer, though I think there are some more guys who deserve a story....
We've been following Maisie & Hudson aka Scratch's story throughout this series, and this is finally their HEA! I wasn't sure what I thought of the way the story is laid out at first - we start out w/ the background of their relationship, and while it helped understand Scratch's mindset a little better, I still wanted to dropkick him for his stubbornness.
But his heart... Oh, his heart is swoony. He's vulnerable & while he is an idiot for waiting so long to make his claim, at the end... I fell as hard as Maisie.
There's some steamy goodness & the continuation of the overall story line throughout the series, and I really enjoyed getting to know Maisie better.
I so enjoyed this story of Scratch and his mate. The MC was as engaging as always. Love all the characters. I am going to enjoy this one again very soon. Wish there was also an audible with a very sexy male voice and an engaging female as narrators. Enjoying this action filled romantic story. It still managed to have romantic angst, a harsh kidnapping, a conflict with another MC, the MC suffered loss and oh, something blew up. Exciting but it’s the story’s heart that brings all the characters together to provide the reader with that sense of belonging. Looking forward to the next one whenever it is published.
I’ll be honest, I delayed reading this one just a bit. I was worried about Maisie so I held off. I shouldn’t have. Maisie is amazing and strong and sweet! Scratch is an idiot but he finally figured it out and they are so perfect! Of course I may have shed a few tears along the way, but what an amazing happily ever after! ❤️
A protracted romance and retribution against the cartel and it flowed better than the second book. That said Hudson was too hit and cold and Maisie too accommodating for words. Was an okay read but again had more potential to be a really good read.
Scratch and Mise were heartbreaking and misunderstanding high school sweethearts. They both continue making mistakes about their complicated relationship. I enjoyed reading characters from this series
Absolutely loved this series! Read it in two days! Would love to see a story about Ram now with everything that has happened to him and how the story left off with Ram!
Another great read. Couldn't put it down. I'm hoping there's going to some more books from the Mischief Makers MC. Everyone needs to come and meet the guys
Scratch is another book in Flora Burgos’ Mischief Maker MC-Mother Chapter series. This romantic suspense story focuses on Maise Carlisle and Hudson Myers (Scratch). Their story is more of a second chance romance tale. These two knew each other from high school, however, misunderstandings kept them apart. Years later, their attraction to each other is still there. It ignites when Scratch saves Maise after she is kidnapped and tortured by a rival motorcycle club, The Bangers.
I appreciate Ms. Burgos’ skill in crafting these multi-dimensional characters. She uses their interactions, their dialog, and their backstories to endear them to her readers. Like the other books in this series, her underlying theme is the importance of family. I like Ms. Burgos’ use of descriptive language to paint vivid scenes that capture the readers’ attention.
