Elizabeth McKenna's love of books reaches back to her childhood, where her tastes ranged from Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys to Stephen King's horror stories.

Her novels reflect her mercurial temperament and include romances, mysteries, and suspense. With some being “clean” and some being “naughty,” she has a book for your every mood.

Elizabeth lives in Wisconsin with her understanding husband and Sidney, the rescue dog from Tennessee. When she isn’t writing, reading, editing, or walking the dog that never tires, she’s sleeping.

An isolated lodge in the woods, a blizzard, and I’m sure nothing can go wrong (LOL) as family and friends, along with one stranger, unite to put the past where it belongs in this novella that quickly turns into a mystery filled with suspense and a killer that goes on a rampage.

I always enjoy a book that takes place in or around Wisconsin, being from that state myself. As an avid mystery lover this book had me interested from the start. This book felt like a quick read, and kept me wanting more. I give this book a strong four stars for its face paced feel, and classic who-done-it theme. Although I called who did it about half way through, I still enjoyed reading if my predictions were right. Would happily reccomend it!

Killer Resolutions is another exciting suspense filled mystery by Elizabeth McKenna. She takes readers on a thrilling ride with this book. Dani and her friends find themselves in the state of Wisconsin at a secluded lodge for a New Year’s celebration. The festivities soon turn sour and things quickly go downhill when a blizzard strands them in the lodge. Suddenly, Dani’s friends are being killed. She panics who do not know who the killer is or she can turn to. Will she be able to trust anyone? Will she find out who is the murderer before she becomes a victim herself?
I thought Killer Resolutions was a pretty good book. I did not find it to be predictable and was surprised who the killer was in the end. There is quite a bit of twists and turns that left my head spinning. I never knew what was going to happen next. There were a few scenes that I had a hard time following, but was quickly able to catch on and keep turning the pages. It is not a long book, so I had no problem reading in a just a few hours – hours well spent.
I give Killer Resolutions four and a half stars. I would love to read more like this one by Elizabeth McKenna in the future. She is gifted mystery writer and want to see where else her imagination will take her readers to next. I believe many mystery fans will want to pick this one up.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

The tragic death of one young woman comes back to haunt a group of friends and family in this fast paced novel.

The death of her older brother’s girlfriend has haunted Dani and their once close group of friends. A night of drinking got out of hand and instead of caring for their friend, Dani became side tracked by her brothers friend and Crystal choked and died on her own vomit.

Her death causes the group to draw away from each other and each individual deals with the death in their own way. That is why they were all shocked when they received an invitation to reunite at a remote lodge from Dani’s brother, Rob. The group has changed – some have gotten a bit wilder, some have grown apart and some have noticed their attraction to each other has only grown stronger! What they weren’t ready for was that Rob’s new girlfriend is identical to Crystal (although not as nice of a person!).

Things turn quickly sour, as one by one dead bodies start to appear. The remaining members of the group fear for their life but are not sure who to trust – is the murderer one of them? The weird owner? The group has to think quickly in order to stay alive – a hero emerges among them, an individual who has spent his last few years on quite the journey. I was definitely not expecting the ending and the discovery of the identity of the murder. This is a fast paced novel that is easy to follow and I enjoyed the suspense as the characters try to uncover the murder while staying alive.

This was a great read!! I love nothing more than a good mystery with just enough thrill to keep me on the edge of my seat and turning the pages. This was exactly that!

I will admit, the ending felt a little abrupt, but overall, I really enjoyed the read.

The story starts 5 years prior with the death within a tight knit group of friends who, in current times, are meeting back up after not speaking for the past 5 years.

While something feels off, all is well until one member of the party goes missing, following some… random… deaths. With only so many suspects to choose from, we start narrowing it down with who is remaining, who we don’t know and who has died.

I will say, my original guess had 3 (out of 8 people to start) people that quickly dwindled to two, but I my honest feel did not turn out correct. (And I had amazing reasoning for this person being the killer!!)

Overall, a great story and amazing mystery! I would definitely read more mysteries from this author – she did amazing!

Rob lost everything five years ago when his fiancée Crystal died at his New Year’s Eve party with his sister and 3 friends. So why does he invite everyone back together for another one five years later. His sister Dani, Nate and Vinnie travel to a remote lodge for a fun New Years weekend with Rob and his new girlfriend Brittany. Molly doesn’t end up going but that won’t change his plans even when Vinnie brings a friend along in her place. A blizzard arrives along with all the quests keeping them trapped indoors for the weekend. As people disappear and bodies add up who among them is a murderer. Is it the owners of the lodge or one of there own.

Killer Resolutions by Elizabeth McKenna is an adult fiction mystery novel that features a group of college friends reconnecting five years after a horrible tragedy involving them all. In present day, the past event is still affecting the friends, and one by one we learn the deadly results of the issues not resolved between them.

The story is brief, fast-paced, and intriguing. Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to review another bit.ly/PageBedtimeMcKenna mystery. I find the author's writing to be engaging, keeping the reader's attention to the mystery is solved through to the very last page. I feel the same about her newest mystery novel.

I finished Killer Resolutions in just a few hours. Once I started I had to keep turning pages until I learned who the killer was. McKenna did a good job keeping the suspense going. My only critique of this book is that it was a little on the short side. I think a little more character and plot development delving into the the history and motives would have made the story more complete.

Recommendation: This is a book that you'll want read with your night light on! The book is dark yet timely with the upcoming holidays. There is some explicit language in the book, so beware if it is the type of thing thing that bothers you.

Until next time ... Read on!

Regardless of whether I purchase a book, borrow a book, or receive a book in exchange for review, my ultimate goal is to be honest, fair, and constructive. I hope you've found this review helpful.

KILLER RESOLUTIONS
By Elizabeth McKenna

This book was an exciting fast paced read because you wanted to know who did it. It reminded of a book I read long ago, “And Then There Were None”, where each of the characters were being killed off one by one and nobody knew who the killer could be.

In “Killer Resolutions”, there was a similarity and this time they even began to accuse each other.

It all begins when a group of College friends get together and celebrate and drink to bring in the New Year. As does sometimes happen, Rob’s girlfriend, Crystal has way too much to drink for her body type and ends up succumbing to alcohol poisoning. Rob had stepped out to do a favor during the moment she passed and had asked his sister and friends to watch over her. His grief tears him apart and it is apparent that it is hard for him to move on from the now lost love of his life. Does he silently resent his own sister and friends for the death of his girlfriend?

Over the next five years, everyone goes on to lead their lives and plan a five year Reunion at a lodge in northern Wisconsin. They all take time out of their busy lives to meet up again and try to heal the shattered friendships that tragically happened five years before.

There is a horrible Blizzard and they all end up stuck indoors despite all the fun outdoor activities they had planned. Slowly the past of that night of Crystal’s death resurges when odd events begin to occur. And then, one by one they begin dying. Who is responsible? Is it a serial killer, someone they know or has the past come back to haunt them?

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author and tour company. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

This is a cozy mystery. No gory death scenes. This is great for readers of cozy mysteries.

When it came to the characters; I was not really close to any one person. In fact, they did not seem to change from the past to their present selves. They were still acting kind of like college students. As far as the storyline goes, if you have read a lot of mystery stories, you will probably pick up on where it is going and how it will end fairly early in the story. However, this did not keep me from reading and enjoying this book.

While, I was not such a fan of the characters and there weren't really any surprises; this is still a book that readers will want to pick up and read on a weekend afternoon. I would read another book from this author.

I received Killer Resolutions through a goodreads giveaway. It was a quick and easy read. I would recommend it for YA fans. I wish there would have been more character development. It was difficult to care about what was happening to the characters as you don't know them well. Additionally, most of them weren't especially likable. It wasn't a surprise who the killer turned out to be, and there were no real plot surprises/twists. It seems like the author has good writing skills, and I appreciated the quick pacing once the action started.

When vengeance is not a good thing

This book is sweet, funny and suspense. I enjoyed reading this story. Vengeance is not good when you used it in a bad way. Life is sometimes not fair especially when losing someone we dearly loved. It can kill us seriously if we do not want to move on. Blood is always thicker than water. Family should always be there for each other in good times or bad times. Alcohol is a good thing if you do not overdo it. It can make you relax but at the same time makes you do things bad. Love will always prevail. This story will make you jump on your seat.
