Ben M. Baglio created the brief for two series of children's books - Dolphin Diaries and Animal Ark. Dolphin Diaries features a girl and her family from Florida, who travel around the world as marine biologists and study dolphins. Animal Ark features two children who work together to help animals and solve animal-related mysteries. The books were written by commissioned writers in the UK under Baglio's instruction using the pseudonym Lucy Daniels. Each ghostwriter is named with a 'Special Thanks' on the copyright page.
Using his real name he also wrote the book series The Pet Finders Club, featuring a group of three children who search for peoples lost pets.
3.5 stars - This is part of a series, which I didn’t read. Jody is a spunky kid who is living on a boat with her marine biologist parents as they study dolphins. She is my childhood dream for myself. She gets the chance to go to the Canary Islands and see whales and dolphins with two girlfriends and the family of an autistic boy who they helped in a previous book. The ferries between the islands are going to fast and killing whales. Jody and her friends set out to fix the problem. The ending is very abrupt, likely because it’s a serial. Overall, very positive middle grade story. I would definitely recommend.
My favourite part was when the ferries started to slow down so the Dolphins wouldn't get hurt. The worst part was when the ferry killed a mother dolphin and hurt a baby one. My favourite character was Jody because she rescued the baby dolphin by noticing it. the worst character was The drivers of the ferries

This book is wonderful. It makes me wish my mom were a marine biologist so we could travel the world learning about dolphins and having adventures. I would love to go to Spain, the Bahamas, Florida, Key West, all those places. I would also really like to meet Lindsday.
I truly think these books helped to shape me as a dolphin and whale activist as a kid. And now that I'm re-reading them again twelve years later, I know that the information in the book is correct and that the characters truly care about the wellbeing of dolphins and whales.
I loved all the books in the series equally. Even this one. I really loved how Jody makes new dolphin friends in every book. It's just so hard to put the books down.
