The impossible dream🌈.
Bryan🐺🔪 is the last Scot and laird of his Pressley line. It was a proud Scottish clan brought down by greed and fighting🔪.

Bryan🐺🔪 dreams of owning a home and becoming a laird with lands and a family. Instead he's a vagabond soldier🔪 for hire.

When he sees Catherine💃💋, they are both struck by the lightning bolt⚡of love💘. Catherine💃💋 is an English woman on a trip with her uncle👺 to collect taxes for her father. Her uncle's true evil colors👺 shine through when he attempts to rape a farmer's daughter and Bryan🐺🔪 stops him.

Bryan🐺🔪 follows them back to her father's castle🏰.
He eventually flees 🐎northward into Scotland with Catherine💃💋 by his side.

Catherine's evil uncle, Nathaniel👺, hunts the pair relentlessly, putting a bounty on Bryan🐺🔪. He has made arrangements for Catherine💃💋 to wed a widower noble twice her age for political gain! He won't rest until she is caught and returned.

ARC Received from Bookfunnel🌀
I also got this book with KU.

The book could have used a thorough editing. There were a fair number of spelling and wrong word errors in the published version.
The ending seemed rushed and incomplete. Book Readers📚 should not have to go to a web site to find out the ending!

Highlander’s Daring Escape

Bryan Pressley lived off the land but when he worked for a farmer the English came for the taxes. The English man tried to take liberties of the farmers daughter. Bryan fought the man and cut his face as the guards came for him. As he was running away he approached Catherine and she pointed them the wrong way. Bryan followed because he wanted to do away with the man. To get on the estates he acted as a servant. He worked in the stables. Soon he and Catherine fell in love but he was caught and put into the dungeon. Catherine and he escaped together. Always almost getting caught. He father finally found that his brother was a vile man and accepted Bryan and Catherine.

For Catherine's uncle marriage was nothing more than a political arrangement. But after meeting one Highlander Catherine is not so sure. Take a journey with Bryan and Catherine as they run for their lives in this great historical tale, it is an awesome love story and a action packed adventure as well. The characters are so well developed you feel every emotion that they are feeling through out the story. Alisa has a way of grabbing you the first few pages and then you can't put the book down until the end. With remarkable emotions, and unforgettable characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, from cover to cover. The Extended Epilogue rounds out the story very well. Also you will find Seamis and Sarina's story in Highlander's Veiled Assassin!

Bryan and Catherine

They fell in love at first sight. He risked his future and freedom to follow her to her home. They were chased all over the Highlands until the Mackenzie clan stepped in and called a parley. Now they are free to love each other and make a home together. All is set to rights.

I did enjoy this book but I wanted a definitive ending. I also wanted Bryan to marry Catherine using the ring she gave him which was her mother’s. The adventure is exciting and their journey is perilous.

Byron's character was interesting to follow as he made his pilgrimage to resurrect his family name. Love hope s another door to honor his ancestors in his love for Catherine.

One of the BEST Highlander stories I have read this year! Bryan Pressley learned from a young age that his name belonged to a once powerful clan. Due to greed and misfortune the name Pressley was lost to the annals of history. But Bryan's Da never forgot and wanted to rebuild the Pressley prestige and name. He died before anything happened. That left Bryan alone in the world. He was a wanderer with no home and did good deeds for many people along his travels. Eventually he desired to settle down and have a family. One day protecting the virtue of his friend's daughter he became a fugitive on the run. He came to a stream and there he came across Lady Catherine Browne and her maid and best friend Betsy. One look was all it took for an unshakable, unbreakable bond to be created between them. Catherine's Uncle Nathaniel was the guilty party for the attempted rape. He was evil and vindictive and was determined to kill Bryan. Eventually Catherine and Bryan were reunited and they could not fight the attraction and the building affection that they had for each other. They ran away. They were hunted like animals by Nathaniel. Fugitives on the run there was danger everywhere. Even though they were in Scotland some of Bryan's own people turned against him for the reward of turning him in. In this story karma was a big factor. All the kindness and good deeds Bryan had done over the years finally rewarded him with allies to side with him against Nathaniel. The MacKenzie stronghold was a grand fortified prosperous keep. Here Bryan and Catherine found refuge and friends. When the time came for a meeting between Catherine's father Thomas and her Uncle Nathaniel, the MacKenzie clan supported them with their best warriors. Nathaniel's true nature was exposed and he was taken away in chains. Thomas gave Bryan his blessing to marry Catherine. When they all returned to the keep, one of the elders came forward excited. He had the deed to the original Pressley keep for the next heir. But none could be found until now. This is a brilliantly written story sure to please any romantics who like their stories filled with danger and adventure this is the one to read. I highly recommend it.

A diabolical uncle and her salvation

Nathaniel was caught in the act of attempting to rape a young woman and Bryan saved her when he slashed his cheek with his sword, escaping through the window before the guards could capture or kill him. Catherine meets Bryan after he flees from her uncle and his guards.
The attraction between Catherine and Bryan is instantaneous and when Bryan discerns that he's no longer pursued, he decides to follow and find the lass that has captured his interest. When he's captured in her room and placed in the dungeon with the threat of his imminent death, Catherine makes plans to free him and escape the marriage her uncle planned for her with a man that she can't stand.

What a great book. Arranged marriage, betrayal, violence, attempted rape , murder, love, lust and daring escape. Bryan and Catherine are running for their life from her powerful uncle. Catherine must choose between her family and Bryan. Which will she choose. This book should be on your TBR list if you haven't read it already. Definitely worth the read. It will keep you glued to your seat to see what happens next.

A daring escape indeed!

This is a another story of star-crossed lovers but it's not just another one. She was an English lady who was about to be forced to marry a powerful man whom she didn't love; he was a Highlander without any future prospects. Then fate brought them together and they were on their daring escape! This is a suspenseful and over-heated story. You would have to read it yourself to understand what I mean. Enjoy your reading!

Another great storyline by Alisa. Bryan and Catherine have an unexpected meeting but can't forget each other. Characters were excellent. Villains were evil and good honest people didn't quit moving forward. I'd definitely recommend this book as I have all her books to anyone interested in a good read. I received this ARC in exchange for a voluntary honest review which I have freely written here.

Bored!

I managed to read about a third of this story. I just could not get into the story line. It seemed bland for want of a better word.
