Taking him down is my mission. That’s all. Nothing more, nothing less. At least, that’s what I keep telling myself. I have to keep my head And not get distracted, Even if he makes it extremely difficult.
When I need his help, His protection, I can’t deny the truth. All I want is to be HANDLED by him.
Heather Slade’s HANDLED is a shamelessly sexy, edge-of-your seat, romantic suspense novel written in K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes World.
There are not enough accolades to describe this author and her storytelling capabilities. Handled, her latest book, exceeds every expectation for entertainment value. The writing is crisp, the plot complicated enough to keep one guessing, and the characters are well-defined and multidimensional. Cope and Ali are realistic characters that drive the plot forward. There are steamy bedroom scenes and adult language making this novel for mature readers. This author has never disappointed and I cannot wait to see what's in store for us in the coming months. Kudos, Heather Slade, for sharing your awesome writing skills in the world of romantic suspense!
When Ali shows up to begin her media coverage of an important court case the last person that she expected to see was the sexy yet arrogant stranger she met previously. She may be attracted to him but that isn’t enough to overcome his previous actions especially since they now find themselves connected because of the case.
Cope is a CIA agent who is not familiar with anyone questioning him or his actions, so Ali intrigues him. He knows that they are on opposite sides and he should keep his distance, but she makes him feel protective in a way he has never felt before. As the chemistry escalates between them so does the peril and there isn’t anything, he won’t do to keep her safe.
There is so much more to the characters than first appears and there is a perfect balance between the romance and intrigue parts of the stories.
4.75 stars This is another stellar addition to K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes World and it reads like a mission looking for its resolution. If you enjoy reading romance with some spy/espionage twists thrown in then this is for you. Ali is a journalist set to write a story about a trial for a man who is accused of treason when she runs into Cope. Sumner Copeland, aka Cope, is a CIA handler who is charged with guarding/overseeing the defendant in the case. A chance encounter places Ali and Cope together and from there, their paths seem to keep crossing. However, all is not as it seems as each one is harboring secrets with the potential to derail any kind of budding relationship. Will their secrets be revealed? Overall, this is one well written, engaging storyline with some intense chemistry pulling Cope and Ali together. Their whirlwind romance may seem a little fast for some but with the nature of the business they are in, you need to take what you can get and live for every moment. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
Heather Slade writes an excellent intrigue and this novel ranks right up there! I can usually guess the what or who well ahead of the end, but not this time. Masterful and skillful storytelling! Loved this story of Cope and Ali. Plus we get a cameos from Decker, Kade and Merrigan! Loved it!
This is a wonderful story that is unexpected and entertaining. I really enjoyed reading every page. It has strong, well developed and complex characters. That you can't help but fall in love with. The plot is well written and with enough danger, suspense, mystery, action, passion, romance, twist and turns to keep your interest to the very end. I highly recommend.
When Ali finds out the jerk who cut in front of her in line at the cafe is Sumner Copeland, the CIA officer she's writing a story on, she is less than thrilled. Especially when she keeps running into her. Why won't he talk about the trial? Is he a good guy or a not so good guy?
Cope hasn't been able to get the beautiful woman from the cafe out of his mind. Determined to make up for being an ass to her, he's lucky enough to keep running into her, even luckier that she turns out to be his new neighbor. Too bad she's a reporter. CIA operatives should never get close to a reporter, right?
This is a very worthy addition to Bromberg's Everyday Heroes world. It's sexy, it's intriguing, and the twist that came out of nowhere was a doozy. I cannot wait to read more from Heather Slade after falling in love with Ali and Cope now.
Fell in love with Ali, reporter, and Cope, CIA, right off the bat. Talk about two people getting off on the wrong foot, omgosh, it showed what a spitfire Ali was. I was so laughing, it was as if Cope didn't quite know what to do with this beautiful creature who basically told him to shove it, because why? He really had been rude to her but didn't realize it, so he does try to make it up to her and succeeds ... at making it worse lol. Cope though, after all, was a gentleman, and tenacious enough so when he figured out he really wanted this woman he pulled out all the stops, but wouldn't cross the line of using his position in the CIA to dig deep on Ali. Maybe he should have. Ali has a few secrets of her own that won't make anyone happy, or safe, including herself. They do give in to their attraction so it gets pretty hot and steamy in a few places, and so yum. I did feel I got to know these two characters personally, even through this investigational journey of espionage with the mysterious and twisted plots of prior murders, sold-out agents and countries alike, maybe even a few souls, I'm sure it felt like to some. Then even more nail-biting, edge of your seat reading when, and I couldn't determine either, who was being targeted, Cope, or Ali, or both! We get an intro to some new characters, and a few of our beloved characters from prior reads with cameo apprearances to enhance this journey. Not necessary to read the priors of this author, but I think new readers will want to read those delicious and sexy, suspenseful stories, all complete, and all with their very own hot heroes. My mind was officially blown away with all the intricacies of this who dun it, and as I read along, the answers layering in, it is very well written, and just so freakin' believable. Cope and Ali had that snap, but so many obstacles in their way, they didn't see how it could ever work. They learned a few valuable lessons here and true love is worth fighting for. This can stand alone with a Happy Ending for Cope and Ali. It is part of a series and has more goodness before and after Handled.
Ali has just moved to D.C. when she meets Cope. She didn't expect to meet him until the trial starts. However meeting him in the café across the street from her building and him being a jerk just pisses her off. Their meeting at the Courthouse doesn't go much better than the first, but she doesn't get thrown out of the building. She also meets AP reporter TJ Hunter. When Cope greets TJ he calls her Stella and for some reason calls her Tally.
For Cope and Irish there's a lot riding on this trial. Being as it involves espionage and the CIA, there would be no one allowed in the courtroom especially not the press. After a frustrating morning with Cope wondering if he was going to end up in jail with Irish he notices Ali having trouble with her car and offers to help.
He almost forgets about her when he sees an AP headline and starts to seethe. He has to go to his office first but he would help Ali out. At least until he forgets about her.
Ali waited two hours and finally decided to leave and do it herself. After spending much money she gets her car towed and herself home. Only to be greeted by Lindsay from the café and then Cope.
Taking care of Ali's car has Cope driving hers to the courthouse while she drives his. An accident puts an interesting twist on everything, especially when Ali's apartment is broken into.
We meet Desi, Ali's bestfriend who comes to help her out while she recovers, but then ends up leaving for a business emergency leaving her in the hands of Cope and his mother.
In spite of everything, these two have a chemistry that just jumps off the pages. Both have secrets having to do with the trial, but Ali's is the one that could ruin any relationship that begins. Decker, Buck and several other of the 'Invincibles' provide protection for Ali as tensions increase.
From the very first page this story grabbed me and wouldn't let go. With intense intrigue and a sizzling relationship fraught with secrets, guaranteed to leave you with a book hangover.
This story is a perfect addition to this amazing series and is Cope and Ali’s story. Cope is a sexy and determined alpha, is a senator’s son and a handler for the CIA, and Ali who is feisty and a little firecracker, is a journalist who did not expect to meet Cope until the trial. However, these two do not get of to the best of starts, and the chemistry between them is intense and undeniable. This is a beautifully written story which is an emotional roller coaster throughout, as well as having danger, suspense, secrets, action-packed, twists, and is a steamy read which had me enthralled and on tenterhooks throughout, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend for all.
ARC for honest review with no compensation Received from Grey’s Promotions
Handled by Heather Slade was written as part of the Everyday Heroes World Series started by K. Bromberg and also a continuation of Ms. Slade’s K19 and Invincibles series.
Cope a CIA agent and another agent who is deep undercover are working to find the mole who has gotten numerous agents, operatives and others killed that worked for the CIA. The other agent has been set up to take the fall as the mole and when the trial begins, Ali Graham shows up to report on the trial...but all is not as it seems...
What happens next will keep you on the edge of your seat, hot steamy sparks, secrets, intriguing and I certainly didn’t see that twist coming...can’t wait for more of Ms. Slade’s books!!
Cope a "golden boy", son of a senator and CIA agent is a Handler for the CIA. Ali is an inexperienced journalist covering a trial of a CIA agent accused of treason. Cole and Ali have instant attraction and Cole can't resist getting involved with her. A series of dangerous events has Cole trying to rescue Ali. Her investigative skills have her questioning who is reallyunder attack. Neither are completely who they seem. This is a steamy story full of danger, angst, humor and mystery.

A story between Cope and Ali. The relationship between Cope and Ali are just about everything you could want in a novel. They want each other, but must stay professional due to their missions. Do they ever stay professional or do they give in? Give it a read! I absolutely enjoyed reading this.

“...it was all I could do not to lay the world at her feet. The thing about her that made me want to do so even more, is that she wouldn’t ask for it. Not ever.”
I absolutely loved this book, storyline, characters, chemistry, mystery, steaminess...this is a first for me by this author and it just expanded my TBR. I can’t wait to dive into more of Heather Slade’s books.
“Come on, baby. Let me see how you look when you fall apart.”
This book hit so many elements I love in a book. Strong heroine, alpha male, military influences, layers to peel back to discover a common ground, loyalty, unexpected twist and steaminess!
“I wanted this thing between us to work, and that meant, instead of lying, we needed to handle what we could and couldn’t tell each other differently.”
This was a really good read. I loved the tension and the sparks that Cope and Ali generated. It was easy to get caught up in this well written, suspenseful and quickly-paced romance. The character were very likable and I thought they made a great pairing. An excellent read if you are a fan of romance, twists, mystery and emotion. This is my volitional, freely posted review.
A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. This is a twist which you don't see coming with action to keep you turning pages. An undercover agent and what happens to Cope and Ali keeps you reading to find out what happens next. I love this series as all are standalone reads but each is different. You get to know each member individually.
Prepare yourself for this thrilling romantic suspense gem!
Cope and Ali make an enthralling couple, each with a trunk full of secrets and ulterior motives, yet they’re drawn to each other like moths to a flame. Their romance is fast-paced, but necessarily so considering the high stakes atmosphere of the case that brings them together.
This compelling story took me on a roller coaster of emotions as they faced death threats and unknown alliances even as they faced off against each other. The CIA handler and the reporter should have been off-limits to each other right from the start, but this author is known for her brilliantly-nuanced, multi-layered characters so you can’t count on anything being what it seems to be at first.
The lengths that Cope went to in order to protect everything he’s worked for and everyone he cares about were so shocking I almost couldn’t get past that twist. I’m so glad I trusted this author to work her magic and pull the HEA out of virtually nowhere because the conclusion was everything I could have dreamed of. My heart was healed right along with Ali’s as she finally discovers the truth about the entire operation.
For fans of this author’s interrelated series, you don’t want to miss this one as it brings together all the assorted agencies and their histories as they are each affected by the focus of this particular mission. It was an amazing read, a beautiful romance coupled with a stunning, nail-biting thriller that answers so many questions about the fictional world this author has created. I loved every bit of it, and I highly recommend it for anyone who loves a little cloak and dagger with their romance. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Heather Slade's Handled is a shamelessly sexy, edge-of-your seat, romantic suspense novel written in K. Bromberg's Everyday Heroes World.
When politics tears them apart, passion keeps them together.
Cope Intelligent, fiery, and sexy as hell, She's everything I've ever wanted, But her stubborn, liberal agenda makes me want to throttle her. She needs to put that pen away and stop reporting such crap. I'd love to shove something else in her hand.
But I can't. As a senator's son And a handler for the CIA, I must tread carefully And keep my distance.
But her body and brains Make it very difficult. I want her in ways the American people would not like. But when her life is jeopardized, It becomes my business, my job, to protect her, In any way I can.
Ali Strong, determined, and smart as hell, He's everything I've ever wanted, But his stuffy, money-hungry conservative agenda makes me want to scream. He needs to forget about the wallet and start caring about people, People like me.
As a reporter for a liberal paper, I have to remain neutral, But one thing is certain: He's more charming and attractive than any conservative out there. I have to keep my head And not get distracted, Even if he makes it extremely difficult.
When I need his help, His protection, I can't deny the truth. All I want is to be HANDLED by him.
This was my first book from Heather Slade. I really liked it despite my 4 star review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Handled is part of the every day heroes world by the amazing K Bromberg
Sumner aka cope is definitely a hot alpha. Lots of twist & turns to keep you gripped with a HEA. Although I felt the story was a little rushed. I liked Cope & Ali; I didn’t feel like they got under my skin.
Judging by the synopsis, I was expecting an opposites attract because of their differing political affiliations. Well that is only a tiny part of it. The book is a romantic thriller with CIA operatives, corruption, insta-love, and smoking hot spies.
Ali and Cope have one heck of a courtship as they’re thrown together almost immediately as they become targets of an unknown assailant. Cope’s job as a handler makes him the primary reason but Ali has her own secrets that are not revealed until the second half of the book.
I enjoyed reading Handled . It takes off from the beginning with intrigue and suspense . Sumner (Cope) Copeland is the son of the Senator of Louisiana and an a handler for the CIA .Cope has alot of secrets . Ali Graham is a reporter for the Express . she is writing a story about the Man accused of espionage . She first runs into Cope and thinks he is rude and arrogant . They keep running into each other and soon find themselves growing closer . Danger and secrets may kill the relationship blooming between them . This story kept me on the edge of my seat . This story is well written with wonderful characters . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Heather blew me away with this one. Once I started I had to keep reading until I'd finished. Cope is an FBI Handler and a senator's son. Ali is a reporter and new in town to cover a case. She has a run-in with Cope in a cafe and it's all on from there. Something happens to Ali when Cope helps her when her car breaks down. He feels the need to look after her since he felt it was his fault she was in this predicament. Someone seems to be after them but who is their target and why. I can't tell you too much more or I'll spoil the story for you. I received an arc copy to do an honest review for NNBB. If you love a strong alpha and female heroine you'll this one. Lots of thrills and mystery and hotness between Cope and Ali to keep you turning the pages to see what happens next.
This is the story of Cope & Ali. Cope was a CIA agent, who also worked with other Intelligence agencies. Ali worked in a different division of the CIA to investigate Cope. Both were holding secrets close to themselves. Ali knew Cope worked for the CIA, but he didn't know about her. Cope thought she was a journalist only. They had electric attraction to each other. That wasn't good for them in so many ways. They knew they shouldn't get close, but of course, they did; a very steamy close. Their story is really a great one, with plenty of love and emotions that you're feeling after you're done reading the book. There is one big twist and turn in this book that goes right to your heart. I can't say enough how awesome this book is. Heather Slade never disappoints her readers with her writing.
Ali has just arrived in DC on a six-month assignment, she's tired and hungry not the best combination so when a handsome yet rude man jumps the queue in the cafe she tells him exactly what she thinks of him. However, Cope doesn't believe that he has done anything wrong until Ali has walked away and the cafe worker points out his shortcomings.
The next day their paths cross again in the courthouse where Ali is there with a press accreditation to cover the big CIA case that also happens to involve Cope. Their lives are thrown together again with a broken-down car, a car accident and subsequent recovery. Cope taking care of Ali in his apartment as it appears that his life and possibly Ali's is now in danger. Giving in to the attraction between them, however, there are things that they both hiding from each other.
Cope is a handler. One caught up in something that may not only get him killed but now her as well. He had no intention of letting his heart get in the way not when so much was at stake. She didn't want to be seen but with every step she kept getting deeper, now it was too late. There's a mole and now that the final gauntlet has been thrown everyone is in the cross hairs and now their hearts are too. A delicious read where hearts battle commitment and lives are held in the balance. I love this author and of course some old friends show up to keep their family safe. Not one to disappoints she makes sure the adrenaline junkies in us that can only be fulfilled with books like she brings get our fill. Wonderful addition to the everyday heroes world.
"Handled" (The Everyday Heroes World) by Heather Slade is a great read. I enjoyed Sumner "Cope" and Ali's story. This story is full of romance, suspense, passion, twists and turns, entertaining characters, and more. I enjoyed the appearances of some of my favorite characters from K19 Security Solutions and the Invincibles series. I'm anxious to see what happens next! Recommend to all fans of romance, suspense, and series.
Cope is my favorite type of book boyfriend with his alpha ways that makes him oh so swoon worthy. Ali was definitely sassy. I loved the banter and chemistry between Cope and Ali.
This is the first book that I have read by Heather Slade and I would definitely read more by her in the future.
I love the fact that so many of this authors books have a crossover component. K19, the Invincibles, MI 5/6. The characters are the ultimate alpha’s who meet their perfect match and battle through a variety of obstacles to find their HEA.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love a good romance that also brings action, intrigue, and some of my favorite characters together! Sometimes when two worlds collide, love is inevitable. Ali and Cope meet and they just click. They both have secrets that must be kept, especially from each other. Yet, here they are, falling in love! Two people, each dedicated to their careers, but learning to love one another around it. They encounter danger, fear, joy, grief, passion and soul deep love. I adored this couple, such a good match! DD
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Talk about making a bad first impression! Cope was a pompous jerk when him and Ali literally first bumped into each other. Turns out Cope and Ali were working the same trial. Cope immediately felt a connection with her and pretty much took over helping her. Ali had reasons why she didn’t think the connection they shared was a good idea. I enjoyed how quick this read was. The chemistry was as complicated as the case he was on. Heather did an amazing job keeping me entertained and wanting more. Definitely looking forward to reading another book by her.
Ali and Cope have secrets they aren’t sharing but that doesn’t stope them from falling in love. This is a fast paced mystery that will keep you entertained. I received this book as an arc. I voluntarily give my review. This is my honest review.
