Growing up in the slums of Ishmael in 70 BC, Hannah knows what it is to be starving and without hope. Determined to be a help and not a burden to her family, she spends her days seeking for work in order to put more food on the table. This task is more difficult than it appears as she garners unwanted attention wherever she goes.
Hannah views her blue eyes and rare beauty as a curse, one that keeps her from ever having a secure future, at least until those exact characteristics catch the attention of the King. Plucked from the streets, she is brought to the palace and betrothed to King Lamoni, making her Queen of Ishmael, with the hope that her beauty will bring prosperity and power to the royal household. For the first time in her life, Hannah is blessed with peace and a bright future.
However, when Ammon, a Nephite missionary, wanders into their city preaching of a God they didn't know existed, Hannah must decide if she is willing to risk all that she has gained for a gift Ammon promises is worth far more than all the treasures of the Earth.
"The Faith of a Queen" is a stand alone novel in the "Women of Faith" series. Each tells the story of the men and women in The Book of Mormon who set aside their own wants and desires to spread the gospel. They can be read in any order.

I've read the story of Ammon and King Lamoni so many times, but seeing his conversion through the eyes of Hannah, King Lamoni's wife made it really come to life! This is a fictional book, but really paints the picture of what life could have been like for Hannah growing up, as princess, as queen, as a wife and mother, and as a faithful daughter of God.
I read this for part of my Book of Mormon class project. It's a great fictional retelling and expansion of the story of Ammon and King Lamoni that is focused on and told through the perspective of King Lamoni’s wife.
Very sweet, faith promoting story set in the Americas before the coming of Europeans. A beautiful young woman who came from the slums is chosen to be the wife of the high king's son. What starts out as a burden develops into something different. The challenges come, and faith is tested. When faced with the loss of a beloved son and watching the people around her killed, can faith in God and her love endure? I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
This is another wonderful story! I love the Book of Mormon and this series of books bring them to life through different eyes. Such a beautiful story with powerful messages!
This is an enjoyable story about a queen who comes to faith along with her family. I like the many references to religious principles & that they changed many lives in the book as they do in real life. It is well worth buying, reading & definately thinking about the religious principles. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary, honest review.
