Escape to Tequila Key where magic and mayhem run amok in this fun new addition to the lively Althea Rose series!
Nothing sets the gossips of Tequila Key on fire as much as a new mystery to solve, and word on the street is that a flamingo statue for the new mini-golf course has been stolen. When the Flamingo King himself arrives in town to investigate, no one is more shocked than Althea when Miss Elva takes a shine to the man. Despite her protests, Althea is dragged into chaperoning Miss Elva on their dates, all while doing her best to not to cringe every time she hears Miss Elva giggle.
Althea is more than content with letting someone else track down the stolen flamingo, because she has bigger worries on her mind – like returning her life to a semblance of normalcy. But where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and somehow Althea has an aptitude for stumbling her way into trouble. When it turns out that the disco gala hosted by the Flamingo King in the Bahamas isn’t all just sequins and sparkles, Althea has to race against the clock to save not only her friends – but herself.

The murder and the mystery of the stolen Flamingo statue took a bit of a backseat to spending time with Althea, Luna, Miss Elva and Beau which I didn't mind in the least. Miss Elva has a love affair with the flashy Flamingo King and the whole gang is invited for the big Gala on his Bahamas Estate. We also meet Cash again and that just leads to more romance....
*Spoiler Alert* -if you don't want to be spoiled don't read ahead- I love this new edition to the series! Same great characters and some new interesting ones as well. The only thing I kind of disliked was the change in the love interest. I am pro both men and being happy with both!😉💜 But was disappointed with what happens with Trace, I really liked his relationship with Althea because the best friends thing going for them and Cash was a bit much for my taste but it's still more to come!! Can't wait to see what happens next in one of my favorite series!!!❤❤❤

Althea Rose and her pals take their show on the road when Miss Elva falls for a flashy wealthy fellow and he invites them back to his island for a gala. Something feels off and Althea finds herself up to her neck in trouble once again. Hopefully she can do just enough magic to keep her and friends alive in order to be saved. Great audio series with a fantastic narrator that helps to really bring the characters to life. A well woven plot wrapped in humor and a touch of romance helps keep you entertained for hours!
Althea, Luna and Miss Elva are all back. Althea is still waffling about what she wants in her love life. Trace and Cash are still filling her thoughts. I enjoyed the story a lot but it isn't a murder mystery this time. It is mostly about the main characters love lives. It is entertaining and fun but I missed the mystery just a bit.
I was given a Beta of this book for an honest review.
I loved this story, it was so much fun to spend time with the lovely people of Tequila Key again. Sometimes life gets a little stressful and this book was just the kind of lighthearted and fun read that lifts your spirits and makes you smile.
Althea is back along with her friends and Miss Elva has found a MAN, and what a man, he is the Flamingo King, now living in Florida for the better part of my life I’ve seen my share of lawn flamingos and my first though was, Why? Why would anyone want to surround themselves with flamingos? The puns are flying and flamingos abound, but it wouldn’t be Althea if trouble wasn’t afoot somewhere.
Invited to a special Gala by the King the group flys out, along with their ghostly friends for a fun filled time. Along the way Miss Elva is going to meet her sister from another mother, I’m not sure the world is ready for two of them!
Oh, and Cash is back…..now I used to be solidly on his side, until his brain took a hike and he let his nasty family brainwash him. I’m not sure Althea should be giving him the time of day, but then again she doesn’t always think things through, time will tell I guess if he’s redeemed himself or not.
I highly recommend this series for anyone looking for some fun reading!
I have read all 6 books and I am not satisfied. At least 4 missed opportunities to expand on the hinted about and mentioned in passing "great powers" of Althea. The first two books were setting the scene of things to come, all for naught! I did enjoy all of the stories, but get on with it already! I'll keep an eye out for more books and keep hope for things to come.
I’m Althea Rose, co-owner of the Luna Rose Potions & Tarot Shop. I was recently outed to the world as a psychic by several gossip magazines and a reality show producer – whom I’d subsequently helped put in jail [book 5]– and my client list has exploded ever since. Granted, I shouldn’t say I’d been ‘outed’ – I’d never hidden the fact of who or what I was – but I certainly didn’t enjoy looking at my life through the lens of a tabloid magazine. Not to mention that the editors liked to choose the most unflattering photos of me they could find. It was enough to put anyone off wearing a swimsuit in public ever again.”
And I must say that since that happened - the unflattering photo of Althea in a bikini - it has been brought up in every book since. I’m reading the 7th book right now and it was mentioned at 22%.
In the next read, Althea is finally sick of trying to figure out whether she wants to be with Trace or Cash, so she has decided to “date herself” aka stay single. Althea has some pretty raging hormones though and lets them take over, at times, like in this book number six when she is invited to the Bahamas by Miss Elva’s newest love interest, the boisterous Flamingo King (David). Miss Elva is so interested in David that she even giggles around him. Giggles!!! Althea and her best friend Luna are in shock when they hear this and if they weren’t there to witness the giggles themselves, they’d never believe it would happen!
So, Miss Elva and Althea are double dating one night with David and his son when David invited Miss Elva to a huge gala at his house in the Bahamas. He extends the invite to Althea and all of her friends. Luna, the white witch; Beau an entrepreneur and owner of not only the local bar, but also a new lavish seafood restaurant; and a few other friends that are unable to make it so last minute. It’s also a good excuse to get out of their town since 2 dead bodies were recently found in a car along with a deflated pink flamingo floaty. Of course since there is a flamingo involved, Althea has the feeling the deaths somehow involve David or his quiet son.
There are parties galore at The Flamingo King’s house with many well known actors and musicians. Althea decides she’ll enjoy herself rather than focus on her bad feelings of something dreadful ready to happen. Then she runs into someone she never thought she would!
Ultimately, Althea also ends up in trouble outside of the party and happens to be by herself. A crazy person arrives and handcuffs her and throws her into an underwater cave and leaves her to drown. What will she do this time to get out of this mess?! Read and find out!
I really liked the first few books but they have gotten decidedly worse.
First off, the reason behind the crime in this book is the exact same as the last. That’s just all around lazy.
Second, this series is suddenly less a paranormal cozy mystery and more a weird live triangle romance. Now, I read a lot of romance and I always like a touch of it in almost every book, but this love triangle is exhausting! **SPOILERS**
The “taking a break” purely so they can sleep with other interested parties?! WTH! That’s not ok no matter how the author tried to explain how adult they were being. Trace has said from book 1 that he wanted her but suddenly is struggling to see her as more than a friend or move forward? I call BS. Althea has some commitment issues that don’t make sense. Her folks are still happily married, she’s never been married nor mentioned issues with past relationships, so why exactly is she so wishy washy?
Cash was awful to her. He basically broke up with her because she didn’t fit with his family. He should’ve been man enough at the time to stay with her. He was also controlling and condescending. Red flags all over. So he’s hot, great! That doesn’t mean trying again is a good idea at all.
Finally, Althea has become so weak and unlikable. In book 1 she broke her and Trace out of cuffs and a locked room, how was that not an option here?? Because she refuses to learn her magick. She’s whiny, grumpy, petulant, and just all around hopeless. She’s apparently super powerful as both a psychic and magically, but pretty much never uses any of that to help herself or stay out of these ridiculous situations! This might have played ok if she was 18, but she’s in her mid to late 20’s so it’s just pathetic.
Oh and the author is getting far too free and loose with adding her own political opinions into her books. I read to escape, don’t drag me back into the real world. If you have strong political opinions, that’s awesome, write a book centered around that somehow, just leave it out of our escapism genres.
A Sixer of Tequila (The Althea Rose Series Book 6) by Tricia O’Malley
A Sixer of Tequila is book 6 of the Althea Rose Series, with a plot that is a fun series to read filled with interesting adventures that have twists and turns; intriguing suspense; mischief characters, keeping the readers giggling; humor, that will have the readers laughing out loud and glimpse into the wonder of her Caribbean island tropical settings, that is lovely and tugs at the readers heart strings.
Ms. Tricia O’Malley has a gift for writing and her word crafting is priceless and filled with joy that is a pleasure to read, light, breezy, and natural. In a dialect that is perfectly created; for a good understanding of character and place, that is fun; pure and simple. Her characters well-developed; vivid, clear, and unique to the story she writes, pulling her readers more into the story with each book in the series. Reader of this series from Ms. O’Malley will receive an authentic feel of the energy of the island and its people.
Ms. Tricia O’Malley gifted me a BETA copy and have enjoyed reading, it kept my interest from beginning to the end. While it can be read as a stand-alone, it is way better reading the complete series. I had to read the other books and re-read A Sixer of Tequila; before writing my review. Another great one in this series, I am looking forward to the next one. Receiving a 5-star rating.
Can't say I liked this one very much im not a fan of RH books and this series is close to one with althea, cash and trace.at the beginning it was ok because trace was just a best friend she has had for 7 years they have diving in common and just get on with each other really well (I was routing for him) he had casual sex with many different women and when thea meet cash he declared he had feelings for her (not nice) I wondered if he just wanted what he couldnt have? But still cash saw the friendship and ease of the couple and still chased after thea but then moved away (or rather stopped looking for a house to move in to local) and had her as a long distance girlfriend so she couldn't find out what she had with trace.after a break up now this book she is with trace but now trace want to have sex with another and she is kissing cash again.in truth I think they are both not for her it's ok to find someone sexy but true love would not make you act on it.do she really love trace of she did she would not be ok about kesley or sleep with cash anymore.(unless trace lied and just have her the freedom to sleep with cash again)
A great supernatural cozy mystery series. Great cast of characters and a extraordinarily entertaining storyline. Alfie arose runs a little psychic shop with her friend who happens to be a white witch and has a small herbal shop in the same store. Together along with her friends in the little small Florida Chi town they live her life and solve mysteries in their area. Althea Rose who is psychic also happens to be A witch and did not know it until recently. Her friend is teaching her how to use her powers which helps her to get out of trouble at times. This is a combination of a mystery series and an adventure series. In eclectic cast of characters and fun story lines will keep you reading on and on. Check it out
I enjoy reading these series…I think it’s fun to get more involved w each of the characters. My only issue is I tend to skim over the repeat info (as reminders of each character). I get the reason why (people that haven’t read other books in series) but really who reads one and doesn’t go on to read series! And if for whatever reason you didn’t, then the repeat info is unnecessary…series are enjoyable otherwise and will not keep me from continuing to read. What I love about T.O’Malley books is her understanding of what true friendship is, I think it’s her secret-sauce. These friendships give a nice depth to her main characters and keep you wanting to see what happens w each of them.
Another great story! Miss Elva takes a shine to another oh so very flamboyant gentleman much to her friends distress. They get invited to a gala on a Caribbean island but Althea feels things are not quite as they should be. Her feelings proved right when Cash (yes she’s kind of back with him) gets captured by the smugglers and she has to use her magick to free him and herself (of course she got caught too - what else?). It is a good story so you must read the book if you really want to know what happened. This series is such fun. I like that Althea is a scuba diver. Brings back memories of my own giving days. Looking forward to the next book!
I generally don’t like books that are less than 300 ish pages because they generally feel incomplete to me. It amazes me that some writers can write shorter books that still satisfy me and feel complete. This is one of those books.
After 6 previous books in the series I really don’t have much to say that I haven’t said already.
These are fun reluctant detective style mysteries with a dash of romance thrown in. They are filled with wonderful characters and they are good stories. I like almost everything about these (the exception being that I would like them even better if they were longer).
These are quite simply put good stories well told.
Another great book by Tricia O'Malley. Althea is such a ditz at times that she makes you wonder if she will ever get it together and then she manages to get it together in time to save the day. The characters in these books are so real that you feel that you know them personally and if I'm not reading on of the Tequila books, I miss them and need to get my fix. Please keep them coming Tricia!! I love them and it's a sure bet that there are plenty of others that also do. 😊💕
The stories are cute, however the love triangle is getting old and tired. It also seems that Althea is supposed to be this very professional psychic with these amazing magical powers, yet she continuously has to be forced into learning her magic despite it having saved them previously.
Also it seems as though they’ve made Althea more of a space cadet and clueless as the series progresses. Still a cute story, but the ditzy can’t make up her mind over a controlling wealthy temperamental man or a down to earth and supportive man, plot of the story is old.
I'm rounding up from a 2.5 - not exactly certain why yet. I'm tired of the love triangle and Thea's wishy washy guy of the day. This is not the first time the team has found "treasure" without much to show for it. It's a big build up but never part of the finish. It was also really tiresome to see Thea stumble around like an idiot - yet again because she just couldn't stop herself. It's also time for her to nut up and do something with her magic - she's being an immature baby. It was nice to see Miss Elva with someone she giggled for - out of character a bit but cute.
Tricia O'Malley never disappoints . I love this series and was so happy when she came out with a sixth book. Now, I can't wait for book 7. The characters are people you would love to have as friends . The way Tricia paints the area in your mind , it's somewhere you would love to go and spend time. I truly enjoy all of the differnt series that Tricia O'Malley has written . Thank you Tricia for transporting us to another place , if only for a little while :)
Enjoyed this series. Author brings the quirky, loveable characters to life and they are real and believable. The only thing I dislike was the retelling of character basics. If someone starts with book four instead of one they deserve to be in the dark! Or maybe put a couple paragraphs at the beginning of books 2-6 so readers who started series with book one won't have to re-read all the explanations of characters traits and history. Great writer and well edited!
Again a brilliant book by Tricia I got really into the story line and my only disappointment was that Trace and Althea are on a break I feel that she is much more suited to Trace than Cash. In previous books he didn’t understand her magic and broke up with her although he has now seen it first hand he is never going to take his relationship with her any further whereas Trace wants to. Can’t wait for Tequila number 7.
I absolutely love everything Tricia has written i have read the whole Mystic Cove Series as well as Tequila Key .. I cant get enough.. I love Althea and Trace and Cash its so hard to pick a side.. And Miss Z and the Gang are just super fun.. Rafe and Rosita crack me up... If you want fun and suspense and mushy feels .. Hope aboard the Tequila Key Express
Althea is in a pickle again and this time she and her friends are in the Bahamas on a very small island estate. Trace is elsewhere working for a big dive company. And guess who shows up for the island party. And then the danger starts. There is loads of humor, a little magic, a little romance, and some danger. Highly recommend.
As Althea begins to be more adult-like, it still doesn't keep her from being drug into another situation that requires her to use her magic. Add to that, Cash is back in his gloriously handsome character, while Trace, well, Ill leave that to the reader. Quick reads and nonstop action continues to charm as Althea always comes out, ahem, on top.
I can't get enough of this series, it's just too much fun 😃. Poor Althea is never going to decide on a suitor, she loves Trace and Cash too much to pick one and maybe she shouldn't 😉. I Love all the unique characters in this series, each one brings wonderful things to the story 😊. Thanks again Tricia, I can't wait to read more 🤓.
Ms. Elva finds her match in the Flamingo King who invited her to his island for a Gala. Something's cotton with flamingos so Althea, Luna and bartender friend go along to keep their eyes out. Cash shows up and Trace is on a dive weekend with college coeds so Althea and Trace decide to take a break.
Mystery is solved and everyone returns to Tequila Key.
