Here’s the thing. Some of the advice in the book is useful, but only because it is tried and true stuff that you can find literally anywhere. Nothing new.
BUT some of it is weird. Like way out there weird. The author claims that you do not need to convert to Hinduism, which is where the chakra system comes from, but she requires you to have faith that it exists, and that she is an authority on the subject. She further expects you to accept that she has intuitively come up with new truths based on some cosmic energy shift. She has no sources to back her claims other than her own reasoning.
She also uses the book as a plug to get you to buy her essential oil products, and get you to sign up for her online healing center. She is not a doctor. She has no degree in psychology or anything related to it.
Bottom line: Be careful what you buy into.

Does the modern world ever seem too intense, fast-paced or stressful? Do you feel a pull to better understand yourself and how you relate to others? Are you seeking to transform yourself and heal past wounds? If so, Carol Tuttle’s latest book, “The Modern Chakra Guide” might be a tool you’ve been searching for. I received an Advance Readers Copy of this book and am excited to share with you.

Have you ever heard of chakras? Since 2014, I’ve been studying a program called Dressing Your Truth, part of a broader group of studies known as Energy Profiling, created by Carol Tuttle and her team at Live Your Truth. Most recently, I’ve been learning more about the concept of chakras, which are seven energy centers throughout our body. Opening and balancing these chakras is essential for me to tap into my own power as a human being to move forward towards transformation.

Carol’s book is an amazing introduction to these powerful energy centers. Divided into two parts, she first explains how the chakra energy system affects us as a whole. She describes how the new understanding of these ancient chakras can be applied to the modern world. Part two continues with a detailed description of each individual chakra and concludes with practical, concrete examples to practice opening and balancing each one. Throughout the entire book Carol uses personal stories from her own past, describing how she has healed herself. She also provides examples from members of her online group, the Carol Tuttle Healing Center.

If you have even an inkling of curiosity about this fascinating topic, I highly recommend getting yourself a copy of “The Modern Chakra Guide.” This book is an excellent read and perfect for the new or advanced student, religious or secular, male or female. We all have one thing in common - we are each humans who interact daily with others and we can all use a little guidance along the way.

Not only is this an easy to understand and engaging read full of powerful stories but it's also a handy reference book full of practical tools that I will use for years to come.
Learning about my personal energy makeup is just as helpful as learning about my physical body and psyche. We are physical, psychological, spiritual energetic beings and all these effect eachother. This book was fascinating and lays a few great myths to rest. Like the myth that you have to forgive to fully heal. Carol flips that (among other things) upside-down and suggests that instead as we heal we can forgive those who have hurt us.
I was so privileged to receive an advance readers copy so I finished reading it already even though it was just launched today but I'm already excited to start my second read through! Tell everyone and their sister to go buy it!

This book teaches you to work with your personal energy system instead of fighting it and brings to light little ways we have been taught by society and well meaning mentors and parents to stay in an existence of struggle. We don't have to have to struggle, friends! We can do the good work to heal and learn support ourselves energetically!

I received an advanced copy as a member of the launch team for this book, and I really enjoyed reading it! One of my main thoughts after reading this book is the idea that we all have intuitive gifts that we can tap into to heal our lives and relationships. I will come back to this book again and again as a tool in my own personal growth. The practical exercises at the end of each chapter make an otherwise esoteric topic very accessible.

In finishing reading The Modern Day Chakra Guide I was left with this overall feeling. Just like everything Carol puts out there you feel hope, empowered and then left with actionable steps for real healing. This book also graces us with all those things. Great read for the beginner to the advanced chakra reader.

I agree that The Modern Chakra Guide: 7 Steps to Awaken Your Energy in Today’s World sounds a little “woo woo” at first glance. I’ve never read a book about chakra energy before and knew nothing about the concept.

However, “woo woo” sells it short in so many ways. This book, while it may have a spiritual aspect and an unconventional subject for many of us, is rooted in self help principles that are entirely accessible. It does give you the self help tools in a slightly different framework, but it is a useful and practical book in every way. Self help approaches resonate differently with everyone, and with its fresh view, this one may offer the exact perspective that you need, or support you in a different way than something you’ve seen before. I highly recommend it, as I certainly experienced this while reading it. Carol, as always, has given me new insight.

Carol has written multiple books in the self help genre and I can speak from experience that she always offers excellent analysis and advice that can help you learn more about yourself and to improve your life and your relationships with others.

As she is the first to point out, this book has nothing to do with supplanting your religious beliefs (or non-religious beliefs as the case may be) in her discussion of chakra energy in this book. Her aim is to provide a self help tool kit that will support you. She wants her reader to take what feels right from this book and set aside the rest. Ultimately, she wants to guide you in doing what is correct for you. And after reading the book, this is a question that will become part of my inner dialogue going forward.

Carol has years of experience and work in energy healing, and once again she is using it, along with a lot of personal stories to illustrate her principles, to help the reader move forward and live in their truth in seven areas where we might be blocked. They correspond to the seven chakras, although Carol actually gives a bonus chakra that even those who have read about chakras before may not be familiar with. She further interprets them through the lens of modern society – the “today’s world” from the title. So even if you are a chakra student, there will be something new for you.

I am going to guess most of us have at least two or three, if not more of these areas where we would love to see improvement. The areas include:

0: The Foot Chakra (this is the bonus chakra): Carol helps us learn how we can stand in our truth and take a stand in our life.

1: The Root Chakra: She wants us to learn how to be rooted or grounded in our truth so we can move forward in our unique identity and purpose.

2: The Creation Chakra: She discusses how you can take ownership of your creation energy and find more pleasure in life.

3: The Power Chakra: How many of us give our power and authority away to satisfy unmet needs or our limiting beliefs? She teaches us how to keep it, while still honoring those around us. The work she suggests we do here will improve our relationships dramatically.

4: The Heart Chakra: When was the last time you felt good for no reason? Would you like that experience more often? I know I would. Carol’s suggestions for working with the heart chakra energy are designed to lead you toward this. She wants to help us open our hearts.

5: The Throat Chakra: Of all the chakras she discussed, this is the one that resonated for me the most. I am a writer. I want to share my words with the world. But speaking my truth has always been an area of challenge for me. I have found myself with confidence issues in some settings. And I hold back in what I say. There was a lot here to support me. I was surprised however, to find that sometimes I still talk over others in certain situations. It’s my extrovert energy coming out when trying to relate to others’ feelings. But I fall into my introvert energy when I don’t share what I think.

6: The Intuitive Chakra: In this section, Carol invites us to think about our limiting beliefs. We all have them. She helps us to learn when our intuition is telling us something. I found this discussion invaluable.

7: The Crown Chakra: Carol wants to teach us how we can connect to God or the Divine (as we understand it) in a way that inspires us, rather than shaming us. The best bonus of unblocking our energy in this area (or improving ourselves in this area, if you prefer) is to move to a life where we are serving others. As Carol points out, when we serve others, we serve ourselves.

I am excited to use the tools in this wonderful self-help book to make positive changes in my life. If you are a devotee of self help, this is a wonderful book to add to your collection. It will be a great tool for you as we move into a whole new decade. And if you are looking for gifts for friends or family who enjoy the self help genre, it’s been released at a great time to give the gift of self improvement this holiday season.

Energy healing is self help. If you pray, or meditate, or smudge, or collect crystals, or have any merch with "Good vibes only" printed on it, you've made some attempt to influence the energy immediately surrounding you.

Carol Tuttle is a contemporary granny and woman about town, who I found through her work in color study and energy typing as it pertains to personal style and personal relationships. Soon I picked up her book "Remembering Wholeness" and realized that she's got a major background in energy work, spiritual study and metaphysiological healing. I've been working through her books ever since.

Her work is sharing esoteric ideas about spiritual things in a way that we can immediately apply to our lives. It's not woo-woo, it's not heretical, it's not extreme. It's just clear and true and wonderful. Here's some of the high level stuff found in "The Modern Chakra Guide":

We are human BEINGS, not human DOINGS. There is nothing you have to do to be worthwhile, loved, valued, and significant.

Consider the possibility that something is showing up in your life with the primary purpose of being a "set-up" to support you in having an experience. Trust that your actions will shift the experience to create a favorable outcome, honoring yourself and others involved.

I should stop and explain that the concept of chakras automatically makes people think about rainbow bracelets, chiropractic charts, and other alternative medicine sorts of imagery. Check yourself now--it's not that serious. It's just about "the vibes" and how your patterns of feeling and reacting can be adjusted to make yourself emotionally and spiritually more whole. This book is totally compatible with Christianity, totally compatible with the woo-woo, whatever you're already into. It's not making any requirements for commitment to any school of thought, or spiritual dogma, or likewise. "Chakras" are a paradigm for where our "vibes" are blocked or collapsed. Carol guides us with langauge explaining what this can look and feel like in your life. Here are some of the ways Carol explains the modern energy of the various chakras:

With the continuing collapse of cultural hierarchy and the belief that a power outside of ourselves will take care of us, we are free to claim from our ancestors the energetic patterns that support and serve us, and let go of the ones that do not.

In our digital era, we no longer have our primary experience with money as a tangible, physical one. It is electronic. This has shifted the energy of money to a higher calling. It can serve and make a difference on the planet.

Sexual energy can be used for creative pleasures, not just sexual intimacy, but also for all creations that have the potential to be birthed into the world. Sexual energy is creation energy. All things start as an idea and then the idea needs to be born into the world to become an object or experience.

The truth is, we have no power over anyone's feelings. When I do what is correct, it is best for everyone.

Allow yourself to feel all your feelings. A common false belief is that the denial of feelings builds inner strength. Forgiving will not lead to healing; healing opens our heart to forgiving. How can you acknowledge your anger if you have already forgiven? Forgiveness is not an act that the mind is in charge of. Our heart moves us there when the time is right. We can replace thoughts and expressions of complaining with gratitude, which feeds your heart. Also being kind to yourself and praising/acknowledging others.

Encourage your children to speak up to your power. Speak to your children about having a criteria for themselves so they can filter out noise and seek value.

Intuition feeds off of hope and when we have shut down our hope, we also shut down our intuition. All spiritual gifts are available to everyone. Ask and you shall receive. Develop intuition by noticing when you make decisions out of fear, guilt, shame, or an effort to prevent something you don't want. These will usually not be good decisions. The language of our intuition is a language of love, not self-doubt. Regarding empathy, if you're taking on others' energy, consider that they won't get the lesson from their experience.

Take time every day to fine tune your chakra energy. The results will become apparent to others.

This review is for the audiobook. Anyone who is interested in this book should get the hard copy instead of the audiobook. I think there was lots & lots of really good information in this book. I've read other books by Carol Tuttle and I think she really knows what she's talking about. I especially liked The Child Whisperer. This is the first audiobook of hers that I have listened to. She is the narrator and I didn't like the narration at all. It seemed to me like she was reading a child's book, and she emphasizes words that shouldn't be emphasized (in my opinion). Also, I didn't like her constantly referring to her "Carol Tuttle Healing Oil Blends." I think it would have been much more informative for her to have suggested certain oils that are helpful for each chakra. She could have just mentioned once at the end of the book that one could go to her website and purchase her special blends if they were interested. That aspect of the book really turned me off. I'll bet she mentioned her special oils that she sells at least a dozen times--probably more. I don't like it when a book seems like a commercial. That being said, I'm very interested in her methods for clearing each chakra. Lots of good information.

Carol is an excellent writer, who is open, sincere, authentic, and spiritual. As a Christian, I found this book about Chakras, truly breathtakingly fresh and inspiring. I should have never hesitated to read this amazing blessing of a book. My life is much better because I opened my heart to this new and practical way of understanding. Carol makes it easy and comfortable to feel the deep, spiritual beauty of the chakras, which in turn, creates transformation. Powerful and refreshing!

I appreciate how the author takes concepts and references to what has been traditionally tied to Eastern religious practices and makes them applicable to any reader with a belief in a higher power than one's self, even Christians. I also love that one voice in a sea of doom-and-gloom for these times is proposing not only good among the bad, but reasons for the upheavals happening as signs of good to come, and the possibility of that good for anybody. I am not sure how much belief I have in the chakras themselves and the practices that open and connect them, but the concepts as parts of human existence and growth make sense to me, and the underlying beliefs proposed that have existed and the ones that can replace them for a more healthy, balanced life, are ones I can and want to implement in my life. I was already a fan of Carol Tuttle's when I read this, so I'm curbing my desire to give the book 5 stars, but in my first reading I gained good insight, and will be rereading it as a resource in the future.

I really loved this book! I have been following Carol Tuttle's work for the past four years and have read most of her other books. I am new to chakra information and found it to be clear and useful. I loved the user friendly set up of The Modern Chakra Guide. Each chapter begins with a one page summary of where the chakra is located in the body, what it looks like if it is closed or open and how that chakra influences both individuals and larger groups. I found many supportive insights in the book and each chapter ends with specific practices to strengthen that chakra. I feel I have been given new insights and many tools for my toolbox for healing my own physical, mental and emotional challenges. I highly recommend this book!

I received an advanced reader copy of The Modern Chakra Guide.

I have followed the author, Carol Tuttle since 2016, when I was first told about her Dressing Your Truth program.
I quickly learned that Carol Tuttle not only was a best selling author of 7 books but she was renowned for her work with energy and Chakras.
This newest book of Carols, “The Modern Chakra” guide, is one of her best!!! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💙💜
From the first page where she states, if I could pass along a message about the journey of awakening, it would be this: “There is more waiting for you, you just have to step into it.”
That statement is what intrigued me to continue reading the book!!!
One of the things I found I identified with the most was that everything happening in the world 🌎 is moving quickly around us and I knew I needed to find balance in it all. This book is helping me find that balance!

Whether you know lot or nothing about chakras, this book will give you insights to your chakra system in a pleasently understandable way! For me it was more about looking at the world and my life from a bit different angle. Choosing to consciously walk my own path and have helping tools and referencies along the way. There´s nothing scary, too confusing or non-practical in this book. It´s all about practicality, easy and smooth reading experience with clearly explained consepts, exercises, personal stories and breakthroughs! You will be glad you picked this one, it´s a pleasure to read and experience! I recommend it wholeheartedly!

Not knowing very much about the chakras, this book was a great introduction to the ancient power of the chakras, but also discusses how new energy is changing chakra energy. She explains in detail how the old energy worked, and how the new energy works. Her writing is straightforward and her explanation is clear. She offers up energy healing for every chakra, and resources for further healing and study. I got through this book quickly. I thought it would take much longer.

I absolutely loved the information I got from Carol Tuttle’s latest book! She really has a way of teaching that is like no other. I had so many aha moments. As a Christian I was nervous about learning the Chakras but she has written this, not as a religious book, but as a self help. I was perfectly comfortable with it and actually loved it! I highly recommend this book!!
