Once upon a time, humankind ruled the world while lycans and vampires lived in secret. This is no longer that time.
Willow
Run, run, run!
They're chasing me, even into my dreams.
And when I awake, I see him. Striking blue eyes with a hint of the devil inside. He's my savior and my worst nightmare combined.
Because he owns me. He found me. He saved me.
But I don't want to be owned. I want to be free. Even if it kills me.
Ryder
I needed a diversion, a plaything, something to distract me from this perpetual boredom. And she appeared as if the Almighty above had heard my prayers.
Or, more accurately, the devil.
Because I'm not a good man. Humanity died inside me long ago. It was what I needed to survive.
But she's such a pretty little thing. I think I'll keep her and make her mine. At least for a little while. Humans are so fragile, after all.
Welcome to Ryder Region. It might not be mine yet, but it will be soon. For I haven't lived this long by playing nice. I prefer to bite.

Here we were back in the imaginative and cruel blood alliance world this time to learn more of poor Willow’s fate. We were introduced to Willow previously and her designation of the Lycan breeding farms has definitely not been kind to her. Managing to escape them a traumatised and desperate Willow flees straight into the path of vampire elder and new royal Ryder. Somewhat Intrigued by the pathetic and dying human he decides to take her home as his pet. But Ryder is not really a hero and this is not in any way a rescue or intervention. Apathetic and disinterested in this new world order his interest in Willow is not in any way kind or humane. He has no great sympathy or interest in being her saviour. It’s mostly just boredom and indifference and Willows presence brings a sense of curiosity to counteract his detachment unintentionally arousing Ryders reluctant regard. But spending time together Ryder finds his new pet fascinating and starts to feel an attachment forming. He likes that she doesn’t always follow the rules set out. Also Ryder's tedium I think was more just that he was dissatisfied with the monotony of his life, Willows arrival in it flips a switch that changes everything for him. Though Ryder is old and at times can be cruel he is by no means a monster and lives by his own particular code of behaviour. He accepts that humanity must be preserved as they are the source of his kind's survival and he has no desire to be unnecessarily cruel to them. He misses the old ways and despises the new order finding it boring and dull and now with a certain level of control starts to clean house. His building bond with Willow is something he didn’t expect and in return, she starts to feel things right back. Ryder is different from everything Willow has been taught by the academy to expect from a royal vampire and she certainly doesn’t expect it to last long-term expecting Ryder to gets bored and discard her when he grows bored. But there’s more going on here than initially is apparent. Also, a lot of stuff that’s been building over the course of this series starts to pay dividends in this book. The dots are connected here and it all starts to slot into place. So this really was red-hot with some scorching chemistry. I absolutely adored Ryder he was such a uniquely wired individual and my heart initially broke for Willow and her experiences at the hands of the Lycans. Together these two were magic and they were most definitely stronger as one than apart. We also get to meet some old faces from past books which was nice and I really loved the direction this one veered in. Great characters, fantastic storytelling combined with phenomenal world-building make Rebel bitten such an enthralling page-turner. I just couldn’t and didn’t wasn’t to put it down I was completely mesmerised throughout. Every book in this series I think is my be-all then I read the next one and I’m sold all over again. I’ve come to the conclusion they are all my favourites and I just can’t and don't want to choose between them. One of my top series ever and this author always delivers the goods each and every-time. This one gets a massive thumbs up from me it was pure brilliance. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of Rebel Bitten.
Wow! What a fantastic book that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I absolutely loved Ryder’s defiance against accepting the new way of life when he knew it wasn’t right and Willow’s strength from within to be a strong fighter. I can’t wait to read more in this series.
Oh my god this was soooooo good! I ADORE Ryder! Willow was pretty amazing too. Together they were dynamite! The only thing that sucks is that now I have to wait until June to read Jace’s book!
This was such a fantastic read! Ryder and Willow are two of my favourite characters this year. I loved their banter, the way both changed over the course of the book and their chemistry was HOT!! Bonus points for Damien & Ryder’s humour - they were hilarious.
It's been about a year since I have read this series, leaving me a little disconnected. A re-read would have been a good idea for me due to the complicated world this takes place in. This world revolves around humans being nothing more than cattle, and trained to submit and to perform various needs of the super natural. A reader needs to keep in mind rebellion, stubbornness, and any sense of your own thoughts are bred and beat out of humans. They are defeated, beaten, rapped, drained to the point of death, and have no voice. Due to this the heroines are weaker than what I like, however Foss does such a great job creating the narrative this is something I easily over look. I want to be clear the 3 star rating is not due to the FMC.
This is the lowest rated book in the series thus far for me. Reasons: -the story felt rushed for me -there was so much going on around Ryder and Willow it felt as if they did not received enough attention -the big change in the series (can not say due to spoiling) happens in the last few pages, but it didn't leave the impact I expected. I expected this huge change to be more climatic/action packed and it was just there. Poof things changed in the snap of a finger. Not what I was expecting. -Willow's story was rushed. She had so much trauma yet it was mentioned in passing verses really sinking your teeth into it
Yes this was a disappointment for me as a fan of the series, but it is one I will most certainly continue to read.
Every time I think this author can’t surpass herself she always goes and one ups the stakes. Like every story she writes just gets better and better than the previous.
I particularly love the dark tropes and whilst Ryder isn’t the darkest character that I’ve read, he certainly has dark proclivities. They call to the reader like a moth to a flame. This is definitely a dark world though, the essence of it is very dystopian, and has that kind of depravity that one would expect from such a world. Plus, we all know this author doesn’t shy away from any particular topic. It’s what makes her stories real.
I loved Willow. She has moxie and backbone and a tenacity for speaking her mind and throughout the whole book you could see that Ryder thrived on it. He needs a challenge, life has gotten monotonous and tedious and mundane and then Willow enters his life and bam, chaos. His existence is turned on his axis.
This book is also filled with drama and tension and intrigue. There wasn’t one moment I hated. It all flowed.
But I’m very intrigued by the secondary characters and the book even brought back some old favourites.
A highly enjoyable, sexy, delicious world with characters you want to eat your dinner off of. Can’t wait for more!
This series just keeps getting better and better! Book four in the Blood Alliance world where Vampires and Lycans have won the war against humans and the world is a very different place.
Lexi C. Foss has such an immersive way of world building and her rich characters make you love them from the start. Willow escapes the breeding camps and runs straight into the arms of Ryder, a newly appointed Royal Vampire who has secluded himself away from it all.
Ryder is brooding, sarcastic and not like any Vampire Willow has encountered. When he takes her in and heals her broken body she finds herself confused by his unusual ways. Ryder doesn’t like the society that Vampires have built over the last century but as a ‘Temporary’ royal he finds he has the power now to make some changes. He treats humans with respect and we soon find him joining up with characters in previous books as the revolution starts to really build pace.
We see Willow reunite with Rae and Silas which made my little fan girl heart burst. Once again the side characters were well thought out, Damien as Ryders best friend was funny and I thoroughly enjoyed the little snippet with him, Tracey and Jace.
Fiery, sarcastic, and fun! Another steamy addition to the series fully of bloody twists and turns. I loved the characters and enjoyed how not only the series but the characters are all coming together.
A me Il re vampiro, Jace ti aspetto!
Welcome back to the Blood Alliance where vampires are Kings, Lycans dominate, and humans are chattel and cattle. Be careful: everyone bites.
This novel has absolutely everything that I could ask for in a dark dystopian future: heartbreak, pain, bad ass alphas, with females that bite back, not to mention a real level of sensuality that makes the entire tale all the sweeter. With that said: Ryder offers warnings up front and I sincerely hope that people read those with caution. There are plenty of triggers here, but Lexi is able to weave them in in such a way that they do not detract from the story or linger in the minds of the reader.
This story truly revolves are our hero: Ryder. With a name like this, you just know he is going to be a powerful force of reckoning, and he absolutely does not disappoint. He is unapologetically ruthless, a mastermind for innovation, and a master of conscience. He is never afraid to make his positions known, and is very much an ends justify the means kind of character, which is where our Heroine, Willow, briefly mentioned in previous novels comes into play. Rather than become a weakness, he crafts Willow into being his greatest strength.
Willow is from the first scene a woman who knows she is destined for more. She would rather die in a fight than live in a world where she is less than she should be, and it truly shows. She is one of those characters that you cannot help routing for, and Ryder's perfect compliment in every single way. While she arguably goes through the biggest set of changes in the story, she is truly a supporting character to Ryder's epic undertaking, which makes this all the more amazing.
I've said this in previous reviews, but this series truly revolves around its males despite having seriously amazing females to accompany. However, Lexi is able to navigate this dynamic without making anything every feel truly patronizing and domineering (well, except the bedroom, wink wink nudge nudge). It's a tight rope to walk having the main storyline hinge predominantly on the actions of the heroes without making the heroines seem weak or somehow secondary, which is far from the case in this one. Willow is in every way Ryder's equal, and it shows, giving us some of the sensual and real moments the series has delivered to date.
Lexi also takes the time to give us a real secondary relationship that blows me out of the water. The relationship between Ryder and Damien is entirely real, bringing some of the much needed comedy to an otherwise dark tale. I think of all the scenes I highlighted on my kindle, their banter is probably the most prevalent. Like Willow, Damien is a critical counter balance to Ryder and is an absolute force that is needed throughout. Really, this relationship makes much of the book, and I cannot imagine Ryder without Damien.
Now I cannot end this review without discussing the audio book: which is one heckuva ride. Kale and Sarah absolutely do it again, and in the most dynamic way so far.
Kale Williams is an amazing addition to any story: having a wide range of vocal talents that make every single character unique and their voices believable. There are no accents that make me cringe, or charcters that sound alike. Even without the text to mention who is speaking, you can always tell who it is, and also what they're trying to express. Beyond just a vocal range there is an emotional range that is so incredibly rare in audio book narration that truly makes you feel like the character is narrating to you in real time. Without spoiling anything, there is a scene in here where Kale truly makes you feel like the character is suffering: not just through words but through their actual speech and thoughts, adding much needed pauses and breaks as if the character were actually thinking the story. With potentially the exception of Kale's performance as Issac Wakefield in Angel Bonds (another Lexi C. Foss title from the Immortal Curse series), this is truly the greatest performance I have heard from him to date, moments bringing me to actual tears.
Sarah Puckett is an absolute staple in paranormal series. I find myself missing her when I listen to a series where the heroine is in a certain age group (20s-30s) because she truly bring the characters to life with voices that just make sense. She makes every female character different, and can pull off the full gamut of emotions that come through her voice beautifully. The way she can make her voice quiver when there is suffering, and make her characters truly come alive during the uh...more sensual moments truly shows her range. There is also nothing cringeworthy about her performance during the more sensual scenes, making the emersion in the fantasy complete.
The production value on this is absolutely spot on, with no noticeable guffaws in editing or errors in reading. Lexi's team has done an amazing job at making sure that Kale and Sarah truly shine in this one, and that the characters come to life and bring the listener into the world of the Blood Alliance. Everything about this book is a 5/5.
**I received a complimentary copy of the audio book only in exchange for a completely honest review. All views on this book and the accompanying audiobook are entirely my own.**
Wishing there were seven more books in Lexi C. Foss's Vampires & Lycans series!!
Ryder may just be my favourite Vampire in Lexi Foss's entire series! A grouchy recluse, Ryder has avoided the last 117 years of Lillith's reign because he had no real interest in humans being offered up on menus, and entire cities being controlled by his brethren. Where was the chase? Humans who wanted a taste of what he might offer? It had all gone the wayside while these newly born humans bowed and scraped, being trained that Lillith was a goddess and they weren't good enough to look 5,000 year old vampires in the face. Ryder was bored, and sick of pretending like this slice of humanity was all that there'd ever been.
Willow had been lied to. Trained at the "University" her entire lifetime for an opportunity to go into the Immortal Cup, only to find herself sent to a Lycan breeding farm, Willow was done. When Ryder finds her running across his land and she attacks him to keep going, he decides he's going to keep her, missing out on a few key factors and simply thinking he's found a feisty human to warm his bed.
The only thing I didn't like about this book is that it wasn't long enough! Give me 200 more pages of Ryder, Willow, and Damien delivering the justice Lillith and the rest of these gluttony, selfish vamps so clearly deserve!! 4.5 stars for this Vampire Lycan lovefest!
No Spoilers - This episode contains some major turning points for our band of misfits 😂 Let's be honest here they are quite the collection of personalities. The emotional whammies begin during the opening scene and, in true Foss fashion, do not stop! I was a complete emotional mess - I jest you not - I read this in one sitting
Willow awakens panicked and very confused but determined not to die at the feet of her abusers - She didn't fight this long to give up now. Anywhere has to better than where she is right? Maybe not... Returning from the debacle that was Clemente Clan Ryder happens upon Willow. Normally he would leave the dying creature to meet her fate - maybe it was boredom? - maybe the thrill of the unknown? or quite possibly it was the surprise fight in the feral creature that roused his curiosity - Whatever it was he found himself intrigued So - he did what he always does - what he wanted He kept her
Let the fun begin!
I truly believe this may be the best in this series to date!
Lexi C. Foss has quickly become one of my favorite paranormal authors in the last year or two. She has a wicked mind in creating these alternate worlds. The characters are witty, often wicked, and each supreme in his or her world. I love this series but I would have to say Immortal Curse is my favorite.
I wasn't sure what to expect with Ryder from our introduction to him in Blood Alliance book 3. He was certainly the wild card in this series. He wasn't as harsh as I was afraid he would be - he was so unpredictable and that really drew me to his character. I also didn't have high hopes that Willow would be able to survive what she had been through. There are some aspects to the story that I would love to have filled in - like the camps, what is the rest of the story of what happens besides death - perhaps they aren't necessary to the arc of the series. Ryder and Willow set up book 5 quite nicely - Jace, I can't wait to read your story. And will we ever find out where Cam is? Ready for book 5!!
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Welcome back to the world where Vampires and Lycans rule while humans are basically cattle. While it sounds rough it draws in none the less as the story unfolds. This time we meet Willow, a human sent to the breeding farm yet she has no plan to behave herself after training to be a warrior. Given a chance she manages to escape only to run into Ryder a vampire that has been around for quite some time. He is bored of this new world but plans to foray into it regardless. After saving Willow he plans to use her for intelligence to help him navigate outside his self imposed isolation. Neither one of them are any good at doing what they are supposed to so this ends up being quite the duo. Overall a well written romance that will have you rooting for the couple as you dive right into the intriguing world. Great for fans of paranormal romance. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
This book is part of the Blood Alliance Series. This story is about Willow and elder and Royal Vampire Ryder.
In this book you meet Ryder who is a Vampire who is a Royal Vampire. He is bored and has kept himself away from other vampires. He ends up rescuing a young woman named Willow. She was being held at the Lycan breeding camp. She ran away from it. You find out that she had been attacked there and she is half Lycan.
Ryder finds her and he takes care of her wounds and he starts making her drink from him. She thinks that he will want to get rid of her or kill her. Ryder calls Willow his pet. At the end Ryder starts to push Willow away and she stands up to him. In the end he claims her as his mate. I liked Willow and Ryder. You end up meeting others from previous books. This book was spicy 🌶 🌶🌶🌶🌶 and fun.
This one is the best yet in this series so far Wow Ryder and willow what an amazing couple and storyline This book had everything you’d ever expect plus more. Wonderfully written and perfect times with the other book. Just pure amazing writing and had me begging got so much more
Backtracking doing these reviews, as I am currently caught up and waiting for the 6th book...
Ryder is my favorite vamp (so far) and I LOVED this book featuring him. His snark, tech savviness, sexualness, defiance, dark tendencies, and bold rebelliousness.... yum.
Finalmente!
Ryder è antico, potente, asociale e arrogante.
Rebel Bitten is the fourth book in the “Blood Alliance” series and I swear that I can’t put these books down and I am completely drawn into this captivating world that this author has created. I will be honest in that I really haven’t heard that much about ‘Rebel Bitten’ some of the others yes, but this one seems to be one people are quieter about or it could be a title of this series that just hasn’t been read quite as much as the others. I found Rebel Bitten to have a completely different tone than the previous books in the series. One of the largest factors that I found overall was the plot of the story. I will admit that the plot isn’t quite as engaging as the other books, in the previous books the plots always seem to leave me on the edge. And while there were some valuable developments within this story, I didn’t find it to be as thrilling as the others. Not that it detracts from my enjoyment of this book (it is close to five stars so that is significant) it just is a bit slower in certain aspects that I found different.
In Rebel Bitten we have some powerful yet surprising characters that impact this story:
Ryder-alpha male, one of the oldest of his kind, bored with life and finds himself alive with Willow
Willow -human female, sent to breeding farms, a fighter and quite resilient.
Rebel Bitten is a story that sets off with our heroine, Willow, who has been tortured and beaten in the breeding farms because she wasn’t compliant enough, while bitten and in pain, she manages to escape and even though she is half dead she manages to come up on Ryder’s territory and try to attack him and even though a part of Ryder would rather put her out of her misery, there is something about Willow that awakens new life within him and he can’t seem to harm her …yet. She is quite distracting, and he has become so bored with life as he has lived for so long. So he takes her to his home, nurtures her back to health and finds her resistance so compelling and wants more of it. He finds the defiance so abnormal for a human to be intoxicating, and both feel the chemistry building between the two of them. But there is more going on with Willow than meets the eye and Ryder can’t quite figure it out. But Ryder is also dealing with rebellion in his territory, members who want him gone and willing to do whatever it takes to be rid of him. But he isn’t five thousand years old for nothing but this game he is playing will end up on the battlefield with an opponent he underestimates and only working with his two most loyal companions will they find a way to overcome this evil and be one step closer to their plan being implemented that will save all of them….
Rebel Bitten was quite an interesting take and advancement into the series. In retrospect even though on the surface the plot of this book doesn’t seem to feel as quite as thrilling as the other books, there is so much intrigue, mystery and politics that come into play and I really found these aspects to be so intriguing. I honestly just wanted more and more by the end of the story. The problem I am having with these books is how addicting the writing seems to be. I can’t seem to get enough of this world or the connecting characters and most especially the mystery surrounding “cam” he is so revered by so many of my favorite characters that I can’t wait to see him freed and with his mate and he has a plan for all humans, lycan and vampires to live peacefully and in much better prosperity than what is currently happening and I am really intrigued to see how this author plans on setting it up in future books.
I found the romance that we find between Ryder and Willow to be an intriguing one. I actually loved their playfulness with each other, especially in the beginning. It’s like they view each other as enemies but there is this bond between them that prevents them from truly harming the other, almost like they could both sense the mating bond even subconsciously. I found this element to be quite unique in their relationship. And even though Willow isn’t free from Ryder, she has a connection to him and she seems to have this sense of loyalty to him, almost sensing the good parts of him being redeemable. I love it when I see a heroine like this even though she is fearful of him, there is a small level of trust that builds slowly between them. I was really attached to Willow though. We have heard so much of her in previous books that I was so intrigued. But what I really liked was seeing her blossom in this book, especially when she finally gets turned into her true self. Seeing that strength, tenacity and her willingness to fight for her relationship with Ryder was beautiful in every way. I was so captivated by her journey and seeing what she was capable of. And the reunion between the three friends in this book was so beautiful. I just loved seeing them finally come together after all this time and through all the pains and sorrows and joys and have some peace being together again.
Overall I found Rebel Bitten to be quite an intriguing story that I couldn’t seem to get enough of. It’s a story of resilience, journey of self, and fighting for one’s mate.
Book 4 of the Blood Alliance series pretty much picks right up where we left off in book three and once again Lexi doesn’t disappoint. If you haven’t read the other books in this series I seriously suggest you do because there is a whole lot of backstory you’re going to want to know before you dive in. Ok so we have Ryder - an ancient vampire who is an anti-social, alpha male who really just does not give 2 f*ck$ about what the current “society” rules are. Personally he’s my kinda guy! With the IDGAF attitude he has some may call him broody but I don’t think so. He’s pretty freaking charming and funny if you ask me (in a dark sort of way that is right up my alley). Then we have Willow... She’s kinda banged up when we first meet her but girl has fire and strength I totally admire. These two make a perfect pair! I also love Ryder’s right hand man Damian too (please let him get his own book someday). The level of snark between him and Ryder are some of my favorite moments. As a whole I felt like I related to these characters the best in the series to date. On top of that it felt like this book helped advance the overall arc of the series as a whole. I can’t wait for more.
I feel like this book is essentially in two parts. The first part is Willow being thrown into this world of vampires after being captured and put into the breeding camps. The second part is when Willow finds out that she is a hybrid. I liked that this book allowed me to see Willow reunite with Silas and Rae. I wish that there had been more scenes with them but I am glad that Willow and Silas had a beautiful moment.
Damien became a favorite because he was loyal and unlike the previous traitors of the other books. I think that there was a sense of respect throughout the book between all the characters. I do feel like Willow was quite weak and that her recovery from her trauma was essentially washed away rather quickly. Her memories were in a haze for the most part until she went into her transition to becoming a hybrid. Lilith's death was rather quick and surprisingly easy for Willow to do.
Overall, this book brought in most of the characters and moved the story forward. I am excited to see Jace's story unfold.

This series just keeps getting better and better and better and BETTER!!!! Ryder, oh Ryder...sigh. He never does what is expected if him and I love him for that as does our lovely Willow. One thing I will say is that Lexi knows how to write a strong female character and Willow is no exception to this. This book was a turning point in this new world and things are about to get so much more interesting now!
Just a short one today because its really hard to talk about this story without so many spoilers. As always I will recommend anything that Lexi writes, even a rude limerick on a paper napkin. So stop reading this poor excuse of a review, and read this book instead.
I received an ARC and because my cat is doing strange things, I have provided an honest review.
Call me old-fashioned, but Ryder is definitely my favourite H of the series so far. Despite his introduction, he honestly seemed the most 'human' of all the supernaturals so far. At least, in my mind, he was the most respectful. I liked that he had absolutely no interest in the social structure put in place. Sure the previous "heroes" mentioned disdain for and boredom with the structure, but they mostly seemed to enjoy playing within it (even while planning its destruction). Ryder's the first one to say: "f*ck it, I'm in charge, I don't give a f*ck what anyone thinks." I honestly appreciated that about him.
Another arrogant, sexy vampire that will leave you thirsty for more.
I really love this series. This is the 4th book, and we finally find out what happened to Willow, best friend of both Silas and Rae (Books 2 and 3). And oof, she did NOT have a happy time. Our FMC, Willow was hoping to be included in the "Immortal Cup" competition with Rae and Silas, but instead, she was sent to the breeding camps (this was mention in both Book 2 and 3). These camps are little more than human "puppy mills." Only Willow's treatment was even worse because not only was she beaten and abused (in all the ways a human female can be), she was an unwilling test subject for some jacked up shit the Lycans were doing. She manages to escape the facility and stumbles into our MMC, Ryder. A hot, sexy, alpha type vampire.
The overarching storyline in this series just gets better and better. But then, Ms. Foss excels at world building and plot development. At least I think so. She does have a trigger warning in the front of the book . . . in fact, there's also a trigger warning written by Ryder (that's something different). He warns us that he's not a nice man. . . and it just sets up a strong male lead that you will lose yourself in (if you're lucky!). The only thing that I question in the storyline is their overly brutal treatment of humans. Sure, they subjugated them - fair enough. Sure, they don't treat them with velvet gloves. However, considering that humans are their food source, you'd think they would understand that they're going to be in a world of hurt if they keep murdering them at the pace they're going. I was thinking this from the very first book. They mention that after the war, there's only 1/4 of the world's population of humans left. And both vampires and Lycans seem to kill them indiscriminately. It doesn't make sense to me. It didn't make sense to Ryder either. But he's the first character to bring up this topic with other vampires. It's the catalyst to bring their plans for the rebellion forward sooner. As Ryder pointed out, they can't wait the 10 years they had originally planned for.
There were some things about Willow's treatment in the facility that was hard to read. But we were also rewarded with her reunion with her two friends from University. I can't imagine growing up alongside someone for 22 years and never being able to truly express any friendship (or even romance for that matter). And then at the Blood Day event, when their futures are bestowed, not even being allowed to say good-bye. The most you can do is brush your fingers along theirs as you walk by. Ugh.
Anyway, yes I thoroughly enjoyed this book (even with its dark themes). and Yes, I highly recommend it. These aren't really standalone books, you should read them in order.
