We only have one thing in common...we're both excellent liars.
A little white lie. That's what started it. How was I to know that a tiny slip of the tongue would result in the adventure of a lifetime?
When Theo Wilder stops in at the Lovebird Café, looking for an experienced guide to show him around the deserted caves surrounding Swallow Springs, I seize the opportunity to get down and dirty with the heartthrob scientist. Rumor has it there's hidden treasure on our homestead and I've been itching for a way to claim it.
But when Mother Nature fails to cooperate, Theo and I find ourselves short on luck and running out of time. We'll need to come clean with each other if we want to survive. And when we go deep? We might find more than buried treasure.
Dylann Crush writes contemporary romance with sizzle and sass. A romantic at heart, she loves her heroines spunky and her heroes super sexy. When she’s not dreaming up steamy storylines, she can be found sipping a margarita and searching for the best Tex-Mex food in Minnesota.
Although she grew up in Texas, she currently lives in a suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul with her unflappable husband, three energetic kids, a clumsy Great Dane, a rescue mutt and a very chill cat. She loves to connect with readers, other authors and fans of tequila. You can find her at www.dylanncrush.com.
Hot Fudge & a Heartthrob by Dylan Crush Lovebird Cafe series #3. Contemporary romance. Can be read as a stand-alone. Single mother Scarlett Jarrett can’t believe she let her nemesis gourd her into attending the high school reunion. With a date no less! What a lucky coincidence when Theo Wilder walks into the diner and needs a guide to the caves that just happen to be on her property. Theo Wilder is looking for bats. He agrees to go on a date with Scarlett because, well, sexy lady. How great that she knows the area. And even if she’s lying, a date with her might be just what he needs in his life.
A charming story with humor, love and a little drama. I will definitely read more by this author.
This is book 3 in the Lovebird Café and the first that I have read of the series and I really enjoyed it. Loved Theo and Scarlett. Great chemistry between the characters. Plenty of laughs during the whole read. Can’t wait to read more from this author.

3rd book in the Lovebird Cafe (4th if you count the prequel), Hot Fudge & a Heartthrob brings us again to Swallow Springs, a charming little town in Missouri. Ever since I first heard about this book a few months ago, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it when I learned that the hero works for a bats conservation group!
Theo Wilder works at the Bat Conservationist Alliance, more a desk guy than a field guy. All his life he lived in the shadow of his brother and father (who's also his boss) and after seeing a video that could mean a new discovery for him, he goes to Swallow Springs, in the hope of finally prove to himself (and to his dad), that he got what it takes for the job.
When she was in high school, Scarlett Jarrett didn't dream of working at the beauty salon. But she didn't expect to become pregnant and a single mother at seventeen either. She's not unhappy about her life, but things would be so much better if her former friend and long-time nemesis April didn't taunt her about their 15 years high school reunion. Why did she have to lie and pretend she's got a date to go with her? Now she's got to find one or admit she lied. When a stranger enter the Lovebird Cafe and tell her he needs someone to show him the caves to search for bats, Scarlett gather that she could help him (even if she knows nothing about it) if he would only help her in return and be her date.
Sweet is what I wanted from this romance and sweet is what I got. I love that Scarlett calls the hero bat guy and I love the chemistry between them, how they were both not quite shy but not quite confident either, how they just "click" together and we don't need explanation to understand it. Love how Theo wasn't a scientist stereotype nor the jock cliché from his former years as a quarterback. When I open a Dylann Crush book, I know I'm gonna have a great time.
"Something about this woman put my mind, my heart and my soul at ease."
Hot Fudge & HeartThrob is one fantastic book. Dylann Crush has shown exactly why she is an up and coming wonderful author. She can bring a reader to the edge of their seat, plus make you laugh out loud, that other’s around you wonder what’s so funny. When I first started reading this I thought really A Bat Scientist for the Hero?? But it all read out to be one fantastic story I love and adore Theo. Scarlett with her son Rodney just had my heart from the beginning! Swallow Springs and the Lovebird Cafe should be real places to go to they are that special to me. I have loved all of the books in this series but Hot Fudge & HeartThrob is by far my favorite. I hope there are more in this series!! Dylann Crush you are absolutely amazing!!
This is book number three in this series and they all can be read as a standalone. Theo needs to prove himself to his father and brother. He works in the company that his father created and their goal is to protect endangered bats. Scarlet is a single mother with a teenage son and a secret which can damage their relationship. The chemistry between Theo and Scarlet is off the charts hot. When Scarlet and Theo head out to explore the town Mother Nature fails to cooperate and they find themselves out of luck and running out of time. These two will have to come clean with each other if we want to see the light of day and they just mind find more than what they were looking for. Don't forget to order Hot Fudge & a Heartthrob today and get ready to laugh, cry, and fall in love with Scarlett, Theo, and the rest of the people from the Lovebird Café.

Dylann Crush made me fall in love with romance again. I have devoured every single thing she's written, and couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy of this book.
I was not disappointed.
This had everything I've come to expect from Crush: witty dialogue, endearing characters, laugh-out-loud moments and just the right amount of sizzle. I fell in love with Theo immediately (sorry ladies, I'm totally claiming him) and loved Scarlett just as fiercely.
Although this is the third book in the Lovebird Cafe series, it could easily be read as a standalone (but trust me, you'll want to spend as much time in Swallow Springs as possible!)
I've never found a writer who creates more dynamic, charming characters, and can absolutely promise you'll adore the residents of Swallow Springs as much as I do ❤
The small town of Swallow Springs has the quirky knack of bringing romance to the most unlikely couples you could imagine.
Theo works for his father who heads up the Bat Conservationist Alliance. Scarlett is a single mom who works at the town's Cut' N Curl hair salon. The two bump into each other at the Lovebird Café. Scarlett railroads Theo into being her date for her 15 year Highschool reunion. In exchange, she will show him the caves on her family's property that possibly houses an endangered species of bats. Theo could not resist saying yes. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen doesn't it?
I can always count on Dylann Crush bringing her readers an amusing romantic story that brings out all the endearing charms in her characters. She definitely did not disappoint.
Who knew the way to Theo's heart was bats and Hot Fudge?
I really enjoyed reading the story of Scarlet and Theo. This is the third book in a series and each book gets better and better. Scarlet is a strong, independent single Mom, who has not let small town life and all the inherent nosiness and meanness get to her. She is the kind of person you would want for a good friend but doesn’t look too much in the future. Enter Theo into the Lovebird Cafe - searching for his redemption and approval from his father. Both of them have some baggage but together they find the missing pieces that they didn’t know they needed or wanted. Throw in some small town Friday night football and caves and bats and you have a wonderful story that will leave you with a happy heart at the end. I will be watching for more books from Dylann Crush as she has become one of my favorite authors.
Hot Fudge & a Heartthrob Lovebird Café, Book 3 By: Dylann Crush Narrated by: Carly Robins, Aiden Snow
Dylann Crush, where have you been? This is my first listen from this author and I thoroughly enjoyed the book! This is the third book in the Lovebird Cafe series, and can stands alone. There are times in life you just know that paths are meant to be crossed and this is one of them. Theo has been trying to win the approval of his father, and finding a cave of endangered bats may be his ticket. Hair stylist Scarlett, single mom with a secret has ties to the cave. Will they find the endangered species? Will Scarlett's secret be revealed? How does it all effect the two of them? Together this unlikely pair finds their way to happiness in this small town.I fell in love with this town. Scarlett is so easy to relate to, the mama bear coming to protect her cub at all costs. Theo is the man we want to find, the protective and passionate kind. And while I love the couple, the secondary characters are fantastic, especially April, Scarlett's nemesis. It has all the elements I love, well developed characters and a story to get lost in. I will be going back to listen to the others!
Aiden Snow and Carly Robins are a team you know are going to enhance the story. Snow has that voice, the one that makes you melt when he talks. As Theo, he has a vulnerable element when it comes to his own success, yet he is so loving when it comes to Scarlett and Rodney. No one will mess with his "family". Robins pulls out all the emotions for Scarlett, from that over protective mom to the passionate woman she is. I loved it and can't wait for more!
It's review time 🎧 Warning ⚠️ : kinda of a comedy. A woman with a child, small town story.
Narrator score🎧 ; both narrator's were great, i loved the male voice, it's deep and pretty.
Level of steam🔥: its a slow burn of sorts, it revolves around the story and not nuch about the sex and even when there is sex it isn't as vivid ..
Level of anxiety and sadness0😱😢:the story isn't sad at all. Its kinda of a comedy even.
The book itself📖: the story was cute and sweet and it tried to be funny not always successfully. Overall it was a story about people that try too much when its probably not needed. I would probably like it more if it wasn't as long as it was, and I do love long stories, it's just this story was a bit too long for the story the author wanted to tell.
Theo is a scientist who studies bats with his father and brother. When he stops at a small town in Swallow Springs and enters the Lovebird Cafe his life changes. He is looking for someone to help him explore cave for a certain type of bat. Scarlett (who has a son) needs to find a date for her high school reunion. So she makes a deal with Theo, she will show him the caves if he escorts her to the event. Theo believes that is he can confirm about these bats, his father will look at him with pride like his brother. They go to the event together and she does show him the caves. But fate has something else in mind. The story was good and fast reading.
Great story. I loved the characters. It had a good pace and kept me intrigued all the way through. I really liked the jock/nerd bat scientist. Reading enough romance, I’ve read lots of small town positions - the baker, the farmer, the barista, the cafe owner, the furniture maker, etc. But I’ve never had a bat scientist LOL. My favorite part (might be a spoiler alert) was when Scarlett goes into the cave naked because Theo might be in trouble. I couldn’t stop laughing. Really enjoyed this book and I’ll have to pick up book 1 and 2.
Scarlett has been a single mom for a long time so when she needed a date quick for her high school reunion the batty stranger fit the bill. Theo was in Swallow Springs on a hunch, trying to find a bat cave, when the sexy sassy woman proposes a date in exchange for info on the furry flying mammals, shouldn't be too hard, right? Instant attraction has the couple getting to know each other better, is Theo too good to be true? Lots of humor, good feels and heat for this fun read.
I don't like bats or spelunking/cave exploring. So I kept getting creeped out with the story. LOL ! But that's my issue, not the authors. This is #3 in the series. I liked the characters, and enjoyed being reintroduced to past characters from other books in the series. Loved their "meet cute". Scarlett is damn spunky and I adore how ballsy she is! Theo didn't stand a chance!
Loved Them and Scarlett's story. Lots of drama from high school bully fifteen years later, unknown daddy coming out of hiding, past friends reconnecting. Good story.
This is a new to me author and I unfortunately have not read the first two in the series. I do feel this book stands on it's own and I do not think it lessened my enjoyment at all. What I like about this book is the way it is written. It is logical and it flows easily, smoothly. I like Scarlett. She has confidence and has no problem asking a stranger, Theo for a favor. I like their banter. I like the dual POV. I enjoy the small town. I like the way they act together.
Thank you to the author and Booksprout for a review copy, in exchange for my honest review.
Hot Fudge & a Heartthrob is the third book in the Lovebird Café series. I loved this sweet romance.
Nothing says hot date like a trip to the bat caves! Only Scarlett and Theo could end up with a relationship from that one. They are terrific characters, likable, realistic, and someone you would want for a friend. This story is well written and engaging, with humour, secrets, sass, and romance.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
Review of “Hot Fudge and a Heartthrob” By Dylann Crush
This book is number 3 of the Lovebird Café Series by Dylann Crush. I must tell you that by the time I get to books number 3 or 4 in a series, I find that I am beginning to be a bit bored. It’s just that the characters are no longer fresh and spontaneous. Right now, most of you are thinking, that is what I am going to say about this book. You are wrong! This book, “Hot Fudge and a Heartthrob” was a fantastic book. It might be number 3 but it reads like number 1. The characters are so vivacious, so fresh. They step right off the page and into your funny bone, your emotions, your head and every part of your body; only to end up right in the middle of your heart. It is like watching your own friends go through all the trials and tribulations that every couple goes through at some time or the other. The characters are so alive and going through the same problems that most common everyday people go through. You can identify with the characters; you can feel their pain and you can feel their exhilaration. Yes, this book is about bats also. Those furry little creatures that I cannot stand. But as you read, you find that you become aware of how valuable they are. I know that in the future I will be more aware of their value; but do not bring one near me, (ughhhh, yuckkkk, uh-uh). A great read and a fantastic book. Don’t miss it.
To Dylann Crush, what an imagination you must have. You have written 3 in this series; you have written other series equally as good. I just want to say thank you for the entertainment. Please keep writing because the world would be darker if you didn’t. Dylann Crush
Theo wants to make his father proud by being the one to discover the location of some endangered bats. Hair Stylist Scarlett is stuck in her hometown after a teen pregnancy disrupted her life and the prom queen and her cheer squad friends can’t stop torturing her. Helping Theo finding that cave means she might find the treasure her father was looking for to get out of Swallow Springs with her son Rodney, away from judgmental people, and his father who wanted her to get rid of him and didn’t even want to acknowledge him until recently. I loved that she made her own hot fudge and dreamed of opening a homemade ice cream shop and selling it. Theo was a sexy nerd who would do anything to make Scarlett happy. This was a steamy small town romance.
I enjoyed this so much. It's my first book by this author and the way that Theo and Scarlett just clicked and went together was in-explainable. The way the story is written flows so well and I was hooked on their relationship. It's sweet and funny and even the white lies didn't deter from their chemistry.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A white lie, crazy good banter, chemistry, and a slightly unusual meeting. The story was well-written, funny, with good dialogue and small-town quirkiness.

I really enjoyed this book! This was the first book in the series that I've read, but it can be read as a standalone. The writing flowed well from start to finish, and I was rooting for Theo and Scarlett all the way. Theo was a good hero, if a it did take him a little too long to realize where his loyalty should lie. I thought Scarlett was a good match for him, and he helped bring out her softer side. The only thing I would have changed would have been that 2 troublemakers would have gotten more of what they deserved. They way they acted throughout the book made yell at my Kindle. Other than that, the ending was very sweet. It was great to see these 2 get their HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Swallow Springs is the type of small town that is a great fictional setting for a sweet romance. We first met Scarlett's character in the previous story in the series Mud Pies and Family Ties. Hot Fudge & a Heartthrob stands alone however I recommend reading the other books in the series so you can get to know the other supporting characters in Swallow Springs. Theo has ended up here searching for endangered bats. He is a researcher for a bat protection society and he had seen a video posted online and figured if he could discover an endangered species of bat that he could finally grab his researcher father's attention. Scarlett runs into Theo at the town's local diner and from the moment these two meet the sparks begin to fly. Well sparks aren't enough for this mother of a single teenage son. Her life hasn't quite turned out as she had hoped for as a starry eyed teenager and now she is focused on caring for her son and no handsome stranger is going to get under her skin. Well never say never! Scarlett needs a favor and Theo needs a cave guide so why not help each other out? What could happen? This was a fun, sweet with a bit of spice contemporary romance. It was told from dual POV and will make you remember that everyone deserves to find unconditional love!
I loved how when I started reading this I was like how is Theo going to be a good match to Scarlett and then the more I read the more I thought they were perfect but total opposites so how were things going to work out for them! Theo has something to prove and Scarlett has a family legend she wants to find and what starts as a you scratch my back I will scratch yours turns into a story of laughs, characters you love and others not so much, unfortunate events and finding out what you really want in life. You will have a smile on your face when you get to the end and a longing to visit Swallow Springs yourself!
This is such an awesome book that I enjoyed reading. The story and character building were off the characters and had me reading into the late hours of the night, I couldn't put it down. It's full of emotion, drama, action, chemistry, steam, hot alpha male, and hot and steamy romance. The chemistry between the characters is amazing and the story line was fantastic, it's a definite must read for any fan and I can't wait to read more form this author!!!
