He is royal, dashing, and would become known as the greatest king that ever lived. Elena Watkins' father, Albert Malone did not have things easy.
His life is complicated, filled with prejudice, betrayal and intrigue. His father married his mother for all the wrong reasons and he rules the country with an iron fist. His overbearing mother means less to him than his childhood nanny. Just when he thinks things couldn't get any worse, he falls for a commoner at a fancy-dress ball.
Catherine Squires, a commoner, growing up in the poorest of circumstances struggles to help her family. The King's obsession with killing off Chromatic dragons are leading the country into another war. A war that will change her world forever.
The adventure of Catherine and Albert against the backdrop of the dragons' struggle for equality and justice is a fast paced page-turner.
Adrienne Woods is a USA Today Bestselling author, living in South Africa.
She’s been in love with books all her life and knew at the age of 13 that she is going to be a writer one day.
That dream happened in 2009 and she started to pen her stories down on paper. Firebolt, her debut novel, were released 4 years after that, and she hasn’t stop since.
She has written more than 20 novels and she is still busy writing more.
I loved it, the origin story of the best king that ever lived. It was wonderful. I loved that the book had depth and substance but hated the mix up of the kings first love's name Gwendolyn then guenievere but that didn't distract from from its goodness. Can't wait for more. I also want a book to be written about Albert's time in captivity with goran
Not at all what I was expecting. It was a great story and I'm glad I got to read it. Katie and Al are really extraordinary! I am really looking forward to the next one!
A cute romance between Prince Albert and Katie. I enjoyed the storyline as a stand-alone. It's a Cinderella-type story with a brazen heroine and a disgruntled and smitten prince. Even his friends can't get his mind off her. The hope-to-be romance is also taking place in the middle of a dragon war! Go figure.
The only thing that bothered me is that the author changed the story from what she published in the Dragonian series (1-5). It starts and ends the same, but the middle details were altered a bit. Still, it's a wonderful read for a quick romance. Lots of great backstory in it for the first 5 books.
Starbeam is worth the wait. Loved how Adrienne told the story of Albert and Catherine. I especially enjoyed how strong, capable, and determined Catherine is portrayed while still despite her fear and vulnerability. Great story! Highly recommend for fans the Dragonian Series.
This book was wonderfully written. I loved seeing the world through Albert and Katie's eyes and learning about how they met and fought for the dragons and each other.
