Saving Their Trainer

Rate this book
I just accidentally asked four super-hot men if I could move in with them.
And I think they all said...yes?

Personal trainer Allie loves her job--and her clients--but she never meant to ask the four hottest men she knows if she could move in with them!

When her vindictive ex holds her apartment (and her dog) hostage, Allie texts her best friend and asks to crash on her couch.
Instead, she sends a group text to her four favorite and unbelievably hot clients. They're stacked, packed, they're gorgeous...

...and they all show up to take her home.

Once all four men meet and discover that Allie's in trouble, they decide to exact revenge on her behalf.
But they want to give her more than a place to crash...

They want to give her a home. And they all want to share.

Allie's been burned by love once. Letting four men give her the bedroom workout of her life is one thing.
Opening her heart to all of them might be more than even this spitfire trainer can handle.

But her men are determined to save their trainer...and they'll do anything to convince Allie she doesn't have to choose.

Inspired by the epic Tumblr post along the same theme, but this novella transforms the real-life story into a swoon-worthy reverse harem happily-ever-after that will make you laugh before turning up the heat. It is a stand alone contemporary story with an HEA and plenty of steam.

I hated this. I hated this so much that I believe it is my first one star read EVER.

I didn't have high expectations for multiple reasons: the cover looks like it was done by me on picsart in less than 10 minutes, and it is only 90 pages long. Nonetheless, I wanted to give it a chance because I'm all for ridiculous books. I'm all for unserious, unrealistic and over the top sort of media.

But this was just... 90 pages and some of the characters' "backstories" were repeated twice, the plot took too long to actually start and the fmc was literally just an accessory. As well as her personal two bisexual kings™. I was done with this after thirty pages, and I had to sit with the other sixty but so uninterested that I only managed to finish the book the day after I started.

So, yeah. Learn with me now to dnf books even if they are less than a 100 pages. It will give you less frustration to deal with in life.

It’s actually a pretty good read. Wish it was longer and more details on their blossoming relationships.

This story is so hot and fun. It’s a RH based on a viral post about a trainer whose hot clients help her out when her ex won’t give her access to her possessions. Allie accidentally messages her 4 hot clients instead of her best friend after her boyfriend/ex locks her out of her own apartment. I liked that the guys don’t really know each other, but for their own reasons decide that a RH relationship works for them. Greg, Abel, Trevor, and Bentley are all hot. I kind of wish this was longer because I enjoyed their story. I do wish we had gotten to see Bentley explain his preference to Allie. I do like that they all talked openly about Allie’s concerns. All in all, this was a witty, fun, and hot novella :)

A happy quickie

Allie is a stressed out college student. Working on her masters, trying to earn credits with her training, and dealing with her deadbeat, soon to be ex. Who just locked her out of the apartment. While keeping her dog. Oh. Hell. No. Accidentally sending the text request to sofa surf to the guys she's training instead of her friend is just frosting on the crap cake of her day. But then 1 of the guys decides to go get her stuff, the other 3 go with, and a lot of fun and crazy ideas get thrown out there. Like: how about date all of us?

Spoilers ahead.
I highly approve of an independent and tough FMC. Not just physically, as she's a trainer, but emotionally and mentally, too. She has a plan, doesn't compromise her work ethic and is willing to grab onto happiness with both hands. The guys aren't gym juicers and meatheads. They're at the gym training for a reason. Keeping in shape for sports and rehab. They didn't push her to leave the ex, but were willing to help when she was. Now, would a person realistically jump from shoving the ex out the door and taking on 4 new slightly unknowns literally the same day? Probably not. But that's why this is fiction lol. I would like to see this expanded on one day. The background stories from the guys are interesting. And it's really more an HFN rather than an HEA. They're just deciding to jump in, 1 scene, and then a 3 week skip to a handful of paragraphs to wrap things up. I'd love to see those 3 weeks wortked out.
*How do they handle talks about whose house for what evening?
*Dating in public?
*Will all 5 eventually live together?
*How will they all handle Trevor being gone for 2mos at a time?
*And what about poor Daisy? Dragged from home to home? Will she finally get her big yard to play in?
*The ex just walked, no retaliation? Not even a mockable attempt? He seemed pettier than that.
*We know what Allie's looking for in her after college life. But what are the guys' plans? The 3 that are in college. But, also, does Trevor plan on staying in a career that has him gone so long at a time? Especially if he wants to set down roots?

See? So many ways to bring these adorable characters back.

Actually, I DNF. I wanted to like this; I'd read the social media posts about how this idea came to be. The characters just didn't resonate with me, and I honestly just lost interest.

Is this a romance? I'd argue that it isn't. There isn't enough development of relationship for it to be considered a romance. I'd have labelled it erotica.

The premise is fun, but it was obvious that the author was building up to the group sex scene, and once that was done, the story was done. Next thing we know, it's three weeks later and they're all moving in together. Where is the development of the dynamics between the harem? Allie getting to know each of them as boyfriends or partners instead of clients? We know that Greg and Abel flirted with her before this, but Bentley and Trevor had not. Jumping into sex is one thing, but dating or having a relationship is another, and we never got to see that happen.

Where is the discussion of who is going to move into whose house? And how the concept of living together is all going to work out? What about when the guys find out how rich Bentley is, will that create friction? We never even got to see Bentley tell Allie about his kink or see how she responded to that. So many questions which the author chose not to address, and as a result, this "book" is really just a very short story that is shallow and unsatisfying. It had the potential to be more, but when I read it I felt that the author was in a hurry to finish it and just rushed through the ending. Like the whole point of it was the MFMM scene, and once that was done, it got checked off the list, and that was it.

I know the tumblr post this story was based off of -
I went internet spelunking to read the post again and it’s so far down on his dash I lost interest.

However, I ship this random black belt martial artist with his kick ass martial artist girlfriend of more than two years - they met on Tumblr and they? Just she? moved so they could be together and she’s been mowing through/sparring with/beating the snot out of members of local martial arts studios in a search for a new one she can call hers…. more than I ship any of the characters in this fictional story.

The premise is golden - in fact when I originally read the post, a little plot bunny exactly like this story popped into existence, but halfway through I gave up and went back to reading other peoples stories. The fact that this author followed through to actually publishing needs to be lauded.

BUT, the break up/retrieval made up 50% of the story, the polyamory lined up perfectly, everyone logically spoke about their backstory to explain why they were all completely okay with sharing a single woman - and their lives going forwards is not discussed except for a time skip of them moving in together and squishing all of their queen mattresses together in her room.

This story was light on the show, heavy on the tell.

I didn't even feel bad DNFing this.

I mean... This plot was barely enough for the Tumblr post, much less for a whole book/novella/whatever-this-is.

I feel bad scoring it 1 star because I don't think I made it to 20% (I would have to go back to check and it has already left my KU library) buy I honestly didn't even think about finishing it - not even to see if the spice was hot (assuming there was spice)

[*MAYBE SPOILERS AHEAD*]

First few pages these four grown *ss, super attractive guys get together after only two of them even having met or interacted with each other and (before they even know if she likes any of them seeing as they are not even her friends, mind you, she just trains them sometimes) they star discussing sharing her and decide it would just be perfect because two of them like to ⚔️, one of them likes to watch and the other is away a lot. I am talking they meet each other for the first time to go collect her stuff from her apartment and this happens DURING THE CAR RIDE!!

And then they all go together to buy her underwear. Or maybe they went before, I don't know. I mean there was definitely buying her new underwear.

I can't believe this has 3.8 stars here. 🙈

Admittedly I only read this because of the tumblr post — it was one of my favorite tumblr stories; I don’t usually like jocks or the whole college RH thing, I usually stick to PNR & RH in that subgenre. But this was an exception. It was decent too! I hate to only do 3 stars but the pre-steamy bits part felt really rushed and not put together in a thoughtful way (having an existing story to flesh out probably contributed to that so I don’t hold it against the author, it was still enjoyable). I was also missing the whole getting to know each character part that I really enjoy in RH novels, but that was because this was a novella.

The steamy bits were excellent though and I love that the guys were so attentive to her needs, both physical and emotional — their reassurances about the relationship was very sweet and sometimes gets glossed over as unimportant. The lack of jealousy was refreshing too, I wish that this had been fleshed out into a full length novel because the potential was there!

That was an unexpected slice of joy to read!

Well written and totally compelling, the author manages to compact a full and satisfying romance into 115 pages complete with a hot bedroom scene after the perfect lead up.

I've seem the original Tumblr post doing the rounds on the interwebz so I was intrigued to see that this book existed, it 100% exceeded all my expectations. Reeeeead it.

This was a pretty decent read. The harem was nice but there was not a lot of back story to the characters. There was a lot the writer could have expanded on. The banter was fun. The plot was a bit generic. Overall I enjoyed it but felt it could have used a little more the the backstop and plot.

Four out of five a stars.

A short, nice story. I could easily have been a tad bit longer for more information about the guys, their background, and especially the ending. It ended rather suddenly, but all in all a cute story. A thing that was a little weird though, was the fact that the characters talked out aloud to themselves instead of it just being described as the inner monologue/feelings.

short, sharp and sweet

This was hilarious that it was based off a random post from a stranger on social media. The idea just took off into this short story. 4 stars because this had the potential to be a really good book if it had been given a bit more attention and time. But also 4 stars because way to go Nikki Dean on picking up a great theme and running with it.

Pretty darned awesome

Not usually a fan of regular romance, but I really enjoyed this. Quiet a fast read book with a moron ex and four guys willing to back her up. Can't wait to read more. JL

Yes!!

I've wanted a continuation of this since I read a reddit thread about a similar situation a couple of years ago. Nikki Dean took it on and gave it a whole story. I loved Allie and her men and would love to read more about them!

Moved awkwardly for me

I felt so excited for this story but it moved awkwardly for me. There really was no character development, it seemed too quick and although I wanted to enjoy it, I really didn’t find the depth that I hoped for.

Just what I was looking for

I had high hopes for this novella after seeing the post it started from. I was not disappointed. While I do wish it was longer, it was incredibly sweet and I enjoyed Allie and her boys all coming together.

cute

This was a cute short read. Hard to do a lot of building in a novella, but the premise was sweet. Would have liked more depth and more of their future together story (and spice).

novella

The only reason it’s not 5 stars was because it’s not longer and it needs more depth. This was well written and unfortunately too short to give you a sense of who each character is. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Good storyline!

The story was great and the spicy stuff was well written! Going in I knew it was short but I was expecting more spicy stuff and less plot. It's a slow burn, but we'll written with a good story.

Short and Sexy

I met this author at a signing and she sold me on this book. I love RH books and this was no exception. It was fast paced, spicy, and just enough plot to justify the story. I love Allie and all of her men, but especially love Daisy.

My first Nikki Dean book and i enjoyed it a lot! The men were sweet and delicious. They all brought a little something different to the table as it were and it was a nice little novella with a great spicy filled moment!

My only issue was I wanted more!

Great little read!

Super quick steamy read I discovered through RHRA. I loved how the author came up with the idea and laughed through the whole thing.
