Depraved Gods #1

Immortal Secrets

Rate this book
The God's play their games, until one lone Human dares to fight back.

Sometimes the past is the greatest lie of all.

Three months ago, a new world order was formed. The realm of gods merged with Earth in a cataclysmic explosion that killed countless humans. Magic now crackles through the air, allowing supernatural creatures of all kinds to prowl the streets.

It’s a lawless time of Monsters and Gods.

Struggling to survive amongst creatures ravenous for her blood, Mae Carter seeks help from an unlikely source. With a shroud of death haunting her, she turns to the man she walked out on ten years ago. A man that can now be counted as... amongst the Gods.

From author Elle Lincoln comes a post-apocalyptic adventure into darkness and depravity in Immortal Secrets.

Immortal Secrets is BOOK ONE of TWO following Flynn and Mae’s love story in the Depraved Gods Series. The steam level is mild, building slowly. Fair warning, this book ends on a cliffhanger! Don’t miss out on their beginning in Immortal Lies, linked at the end of Immortal Secrets!

This was a DNF at the 30% mark. There were admittedly lots of elements I was liking here - but I couldn't get over the weird, confusing timeline the author had created.
We are told Mae went out with Flynn 10 years ago? And I think soon after his Dad, the God, told her to leave him??? So she goes underground for 10 years. Then 3 months ago this earth merges with another earth full of supernaturals??? And the earth gets carved into sections run by different factions. And Mae's childhood home happens to be in the district run by Flynn's Dad???? Okayy, that's quite a coincidence.
Then when technology fell and the world was overrun by supernaturals Mae heads home to live and work with her Gramps. 3 months go by - which is where this story starts - and she bumps into Flynn at a bar. He is shocked to see her.

But none of that makes sense, he's tied into the local enforcer network and had no idea she was back??? Has been patrolling her old neighbourhood and had no idea she was back???? Reads her mind when she tells him why she was left but doesn't pick up on the fact her first thought is his Dad was to blame???

Like I said - the set-up, the flow of the backstory and where this tale picks up, it's just too convoluted and confusing. And the more I read about these characters and their supernatural powers the less any of that back story made sense. If Flynn and His GOD -Dad were around 10 years ago.... ???? see it just doesn't make sense.

There was quite a few grammatical errors, missing words etc. And at one point Flynn thinks about what a thorn he is in his father's side. Only 2 kindle pages later to think what a thorn HIS father is in his side????? That was just weird. And the more I read the more nit-picky stuff kept thumping me between the eyes and I just couldn't get into this world/story. Better to give up now before I begin grinding my teeth.

First, I won this book in a contest, and I always read and review books that I win. It is my “payment” to the author for being kind enough to offer up one of their books to readers for free. Second, I am quite new to this genre, so my review is from someone who hasn’t quite experienced this type of paranormal romance before.

I’ll start with the world-building and culture. It is bang on. I was very impressed with the world the author created for her series. There is every kind of paranormal person in this novel from Faes and Gods to vampires and banshees. I also enjoyed the history of how this new earth happened. There is also wonderful explanations of how this world works told through scenes using wonderful plot devices, so you don’t feel like it’s all exposition. Wonderfully done, author!

Fantastic

I loved this story and I was hooked tight from the start. Set ten years after Immortal Lies many things have changed. Mae left Flynn ten years ago but now has returned to be with her grandfather because three months ago the world felt into an apocalyptic state. Can Flynn win Mae back or are the reasons she left too much to overcome? I love the chemistry between these two. This world and it's characters are fantastic and I'm looking forward to reading book two.

Just OK

A very slow moving story & I felt it lacked suspense. I like where the story is going but the question is whether I can hang in there til the end.

The world is not as we once knew. Mae is more than human. She is late coming into her powers. Flynn, the man/god she loves has been lost to her for 10 years because his father Neit threatened Mae to leave and never come back.
Mae is back and her powers are coming in. Can she and her ragtag group, including Flynn set things right?
This story was full of intrigue and adventure. The characters were very strong and likable. Great story that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Immortal Secrets takes place ten years after Immortal Lies and the world has changed. Mae Carter is back and while her powers are coming in she struggles to survive. As problems arise she turns to Flynn, who she hasn't seen in over ten years. I don't want to say too much about this story but I definitely recommend you read this fantastic series. This is a post-apocalyptic story filled with strong, intriguing characters and an ending that left me ready for the next book. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

What an incredible book!! Written about what would happen if a tear in another realm happened and creatures(gods, goddess, vamps etc) took over! I love how she heard voices all her life and finally got answers why! WHAT A TWIST AND CLIFF HANGER!!! Although I am bummed not being able to read the next right now!!! It is totally worth waiting for!

This is my first time reading any book by this author. This story follows the relationship and romance of Mae and Flynn who once dated but were forced to separate due to parental interference in their relationship. It’s an interesting story with likable characters. The author does a good job world building resulting in a story filled with adventure, drama and intrigue.

Flynn and Mae are both outstanding protagonists. All the characters in this story are vibrant and come to life. The story is incredibly interesting, no detail was spared and the secrecy pulls you into their world.
