This is a Great book for children who love dogs.

Kimberlie Hamiltonin "Rohkeiden koirien kirja" (Readme.fi, 2019) sisältää alanimekkeensä mukaan "jännittäviä tositarinoita urheista hännänheiluttajista". Kuuluisimpien esimerkkien (Hachiko, Laika ja Rin-tin-tin) lisäksi mukana on monia muitakin kiinnostavia haukkoja. Sotakoiria mahtuu mukaan aika paljon - ehkä se on vähän turhankin helppo tapa kertoa sankaruudesta? Lisäksi kirjasta löytyy kaikenlaista ylimääräistä pikkutietoa koirista ja muun muassa koirabongaus-kisan säännöt! Kuvitus on vaihtelevan tasoista.
Ei yhtään hassumpi tietokirja, joka varmasti kiinnostaa koirista pitäviä lapsia! Vinkkarin kannattaa muistaa myös kotimainen Koiran kanssa : tosia tarinoita harrastuskoirista ja taitavista työkoirista.

Antis podczas drugiej wojny światowej był maskotką angielskich lotników, którym zawsze przynosił szczęście.
Bobbie przeszedł cztery tysiące osiemset trzydzieści kilometrów, by wrócić do domu.
Rin Tin Tin jako pierwszy doczekał się własnej gwiazdy w hollywoodzkiej Alei Gwiazd.
Jack został słynnym ratownikiem, który z wody wyłowił dwadzieścia siedem osób i dwa psy.
A to tylko niektóre spośród opisanych psiaków!
Co najlepsze — już sama historia przedstawionych psów jest świetną lekturą, ale autorka daje nam również ogólne ciekawostki o tych zwierzakach oraz skrótowo przedstawia inne psy, które dokonały czegoś podobnego! Mamy też jeden żart (ile psów jest potrzebnych, by wkręcić żarówkę) oraz quiz! Razem tworzy to małą skarbnicę wiedzy idealną dla każdego psiarza.
Mam do książki tylko jeden zarzut — wydarzenia bywają nieco cenzurowane. Brakuje chociażby wzmianki o dokładnych okolicznościach śmierci Łajki. Zakładam, że to kwestia tego, że książeczka ma dostarczyć przyjemności, a nie wywoływać łzy. Plus dzięki temu zdaje się być odpowiedniejszą lekturą dla młodszych czytelników. Dla mnie jednak to malutki, maciusieński minusik.
Siedemnastu ilustratorów pracowało nad oprawą graficzną książki, dzięki czemu mamy sporą różnorodność stylów. Jedne obrazki podobały mi się bardziej, drugie mniej, ale każde dodawały czytanym historiom uroku. Jak dla mnie rewelacyjny pomysł! Moja potrzeba patrzenia na piękno została w pełni zaspokojona.
Ze swojej strony tytuł gorąco polecam! Uwielbiam tego typu pozycje i zawsze będę je wszystkim ludziom wokół wciskać choćby siłą!

Rebel Dogs is a cute little book about certain dogs in history that have made a memorable impact. From Prisoner of War dogs like Judy, to Laika the space dog, there’s facts to be learnt.
The illustrations are beautiful too!
I read this book because I am such a dog fan and it’s always good to learn something new, however this book is aimed at children so sometimes I find that the language of the book reflect that- however, I would recommend it to adults too!
I actually learnt a lot, and there’s a reading list in the back of the book- so I might look into some of those in the future!

Libro molto carino
Pieno di nozioni curiose ed interessati sui cani

Een best OK en leuk boek over verschillende bekende honden. Er zijn een aantal die de spotlight krijgen en een hele pagina (plus een pagina met illustratie) met hun verhaal krijgen, maar er worden ook honden genoemd in de stukjes tussen de spotlights door. Naast speciale honden zijn er ook hondenfeitjes. Alleen die vond ik helaas niet heel interessant vond want ik kwam voor heldenverhalen en superhonden.
Een flink aantal van de heldenhonden die de spotlight krijgen kende ik al, maar ik heb ook wat nieuwe honden gevonden.
Ik had misschien wel graag het op chronologische volgorde willen zien. Nu gingen we van 2014 naar 1800 naar 1900 en dat was een tikje chaotisch in mijn ogen.
Ik vond het wel apart dat soms de naam van het dier wel werd vertaald/uitgelegd maar de rest helemaal niet. Of doe het voor alles, of niks, nu was het alleen maar apart.
De illustraties, tja, het was telkens een andere illustrator dus het was een beetje hit en miss. Sommige stijlen/illustraties vond ik erg leuk, andere toch minder.
Maar ik heb genoten van het boek, het was interessant om te lezen. Hopelijk worden de andere boeken van deze schrijver ook vertaald.
