With fashion as their common link between them, Sinead, Frankie, and Marina become fast friends at a British design school where they work to keep each other on track when external distractions, such as boys and partying, enter the mix. Original.
I thought this was a very good book. It had more drama than I thought it would have.I doubted the book because of its front cover (thought it would be all cartoony). The characters are very realistic beacause they all face a challenge in life and they are in college. My favorite character was Sinead because she was the most realistic of them all. Mostly because of her mother. Her mother is selfish because she wouldn't sell a house in Dublin to use the money to keep Sinead in college. I think Sinead handled her mother's selfishness very well and that's what makes her realistic. The other girls are like dramaful cartoon characters. The author tries to make the other two girls realistic by saying they are normal, but that doesn't work. Other than that, the book was great.
I'd like to start of saying that i absolutely love fashion and i absolutely love books but i absolutely do not love books about fashion. First of all because i can never find a decent one that doesn't come off as either extremely childish or just a pathetic love story in disguise. I've been searching far and wide for a YA story about fashion that doesn't turn into a complete waste of paper but all have failed me miserably. This was so unfortunately all of these things. I have a terrible habit of forcing myself to read entire series. Why? Because i have pretty awful OCD tendencies when it comes to books and i hate it when people say things like "I hate this book it's so stupid i only got to page 4" with no other explanation other than they're just lazy. I promised myself that I wouldn't take up to much precious time that could be wasted reading other books so i read all 3 in 1 day. Absolutely fucking nothing happens in this series! It has absolutely nothing to with fashion whatsoever other than the fact that the characters just happen to go to a fashion design school. I pay very close attention to almost every book i read and i don't remember anything significant taking place. The writing was atrocious, there was no plot or background to speak of and the book overall is just a crappy dragged out romance masquerading as a series about fashion.
No. Just no. Terrible writing, undeveloped characters, language that suggests an 8-12 year old audience but with really negative portrayals of stereotypical gender problems. Garghhhh. I'll read the other two because of a reading challenge I'm doing, but man, I hope the writing and storytelling improves drastically.
