A great daily read! I enjoy opening to a random page, reading the affirmation and the extended paragraph that goes a little deeper and then doing a short 5-10 min meditation using the affirmation. I highly recommend!
I like the book in theory. But my biggest issue was, with the exception of one page at the very end of the book, there is a huge push that you can always choose happiness in a way that seems to ignore your other emotions.
Sometimes it is important to feel your other emotions. Anger can help you to set boundaries. Sadness can signal that something matters to you, like a loved one passing. It is important to feel all your emotions.
Sometimes you have to feel sadness and anger in order to feel happiness again, and this book felt like it was almost toxic positivity—trying to suppress your emotions to feel happy. That does not feel sustainable.
I understand the concept. I just wish it was a little more realistic.
I have used this book personally and professionally and it is SO amazing. I can truly say it has helped me change the intention of my day and also the lives of patients in various mental health settings. Countless individuals have told me how “just hearing something positive at the beginning of the day” or even after having a bad day so far would help improve their mood. I highly recommend this book for yourself, for a loved one, or even a mental health group as an icebreaker activity. ❤️💯👏
Each page is more profound than the other! Simple thoughts written in a way that provide clarity to cultivate true happiness! This will be that book I keep turning back to over and over again through each season of life. 100/10 recommended!
I read this is one sitting but may go back now and try a day-by-day approach. It seemed too “me centered” for my life view. I believe happiness comes from giving to others——heart and soul. There is no greater feeling in life than what you get from loving and relationships with others around you.
I really don't know what to say. Yes it is affirming, but when you feel like everyday you have to put on a mask just to pretend to be happy it falls short for me. But that is because I am in a really crappy mind space right now. I am sure this book would be great for probably everyone else.
