I absolutely loved the bones of this clean romance, but that is only a part of the final product. If I stopped this review at this point I would definitely give this author a five-star review. However, since the author is ultimately responsible for editing and proofreading, I have no choice but to downgrade this review significantly. I would venture to guess that less than ten percent of the pages of this story are error-free. Many pages had three or four errors per page. I found this to be distracting to the extreme. It was almost as if the author dictated the text to mediocre word recognition software and made no corrections. Missing words, grammar errors, misspelled words, misused words, faulty sentence structure, and frequent sophomoric writing all contributed to this adverse review.

Gabe and Rory’s story

Melody Archer needs someone who can proofread her writing. There were many errors in this books, too.
I am not the language arts/grammar police, but you really need help with your writing!
There were sentence fragments, commas in sentences where they were not needed, using uppercase letters to denote common nouns as proper nouns (High School and Island girl), and the wrong pronoun used in the predicate of the sentence.
FYI: If you remove the other person(s) from the sentence, then apply the pronoun (I/me) to help you determine which is correct. Use “I” in the subject and “me” in the predicate of the sentence!
It’s distracting trying to read a book with errors.
Yes, I realize that if you are getting paid for your writing so perhaps you may just not care.

As for the story, the characters were strong. Gabe was interesting as far as his career choice and his love of the island he inherited from his great grandfather. (I guess that’s one way to have to get married if you want something bad enough.)
Gabe doesn’t ignore her but does at times while trying to figure out his true feelings for his now wife. He was incredibly gentle and caring not only to his new wife but to others as well.
Rory has been my favorite female lead so far in the series of the female characters. Her love for her three aunts who raised her was clearly expressed by her actions. Her continued love for childhood friend Gabe allows her to agree to marry in name only could have been heartbreaking but was not.
Rory’s character show compassion for a hotel maid that most people take for granted in the real world. Enlisting Maria’s family to help further her business while at the same time helping Maria’s family showed true character on Rory’s behalf, and that spilled over when she got them jobs at the resort.
The viciousness of Aunt Mallory was awful. Why and how Ned went along with her antics made me question Ned’s mindset as much as Mallory’s. Jealousy was one thing, but for Ned to burn the sheds because her being slighted years ago was crazy.
In the end, it all worked out.

I have not read the prior stories in this series and it really isn't needed. This story stands on its own. This is written in a dual POV format. Getting that glimpse into the main characters thoughts really help me to better understand and connect to them.

Gabe has to marry SOON or forfeit his inheritance from his great-grandfather (Grand). He is used to women only wanting him for his money and fame. Rory lives on Walker's Island with her three aunts. She lost both of her parents in a fire when she was a young child. Grand owed a debt of gratitude to the three ladies as well. He had the three ladies and niece living on his island. Every summer, Gabe would come to the island and visit. It is there that Gabe sees the young child and the two befriend each other.

Unfortunately when Rory was a teenager, Gabe's visit to the island is cut short and he hasn't returned for 5 years. In the last few months, there have been some strange happenings going on and the three aunts fear for Rory. Gabe decides to ask Rory to marry him. That would help him to secure his inheritance while also protecting Rory.

This is a sweet, clean romance. I will say that there were spelling, punctuation and errors in grammar here. I was able to read this with minimal issues but for the price of the book, I felt that it should have been a little more polished than that.

Two Hurting People

Gabe wants to inherit Walker 's Island where he spent so much time with his great grandfather. Rory is a friend from childhood who lives in the island with her aunts. Rory's parents died in a fire after they had given her a wonderful sixth year birthday party. Both are hurting so much. Melody Archer has written a romance with lively characters, added to a mystery because someone is targeting Rory with fires to her home and business.

Very heartwarming story

I enjoyed reading about Gabe and Rory. Their life started together when Rory was 6 years old. Their friendship continued until Rory was 16. Then things changed for the both of them. You must read this book to experience what they go through in their older years.

Melody Archers characters Rory and Gage have known each other since she was six and came to live with her three Aunts of Gates Great Grandfather's island. She has love him since she was 16, now it is time to win HS love with a Fake Marriage. But someone wants Rory dead by her 21st Birthday. Wonderful characters, funny, caring and loving. Sweet little read... but so many errors! I wish this wonderful author had a better editor! I simply couldn’t give it more stars with so many errors- nearly every page. That said it was a cute story line and a clean read, which I really appreciate.

Edit

This book appears to have been written in another language and translated. There are extra words. There is also a lot of repetition. I liked the story but won't buy more of her books.

To. Many. Grammatical. Errors. The overall story is cute but the lack of quality editing detracts from it. If poor grammar does not bother you, then you may love this story. I did enjoy it even if I did grit my teeth a lot.

I only gave this book a 3. While I loved the story, as others noted just to many errors. I found that distracting. I know it is difficult but maybe find a good proofreader.

Gabe has six weeks to find a bride in order to inherit Walker Island from his great-grandfather. Many years ago, he promised to marry Rory. Rory is a few years younger, but she's always been in love with Gabe. She's had so much pain and loss in her life, and yet she's managing to move forward. Until accidents start happening on the island. Gabe has a great idea - a fake marriage. This will solve his dilemma with the will, and he'll be able to keep her safe. Besides, a fake marriage worked for this brothers Adam and Jack. What could go wrong? This is a really nice sweet book. The characters are wonderful and well-meaning, but not quite able to see the true love in front of them, even though they manage to convince others that this marriage is the real thing. His family is terrific and supportive, especially his mother. This is the second book I've read in the series, and I hope to get to the others before long.

Gabe Stevenson has a problem, he wants to own Walkers Island. Even though he is a billionaire in is his own right it is a stipulation of his grandfather’s will that he will only inherit if he is married by his 27th birthday, now only six weeks away. Meanwhile something is happening on the island, his childhood girl friend is being threatened. There are sparks flying, maybe things will work out.

This is a wonderful romance with suspense added to it. The characters are strong and well written with great personalities that draws you into the story and keep you interested. The storyline is filled with twists and turns and surprises that keep the suspense going until the very end. The emotional drama between the two main characters as they deal with their insecurities and fears. It is a heart warming love story that leaves you feeling up lifted.

This is a sweet and delightful marriage-of-convenience romance that also had an element of suspense and mystery which made it all the more entertaining.
The storyline was well written and flowed very nicely. The characters were well developed and really drew me into their story. Ms Archer did a wonderful job in descriptions making the characters experiences really come to life. It was heartwarming to see Gabe and Rory overcoming their abandonment issues and finding their path toward each other.

This is the first book I have read by this author and am looking forward to reading more.

I love the family support that Rory has, she is a very forgiving character. Gabe is a promise keeper and has the family traits. They are both equally compassionate and weighed down with fear of abandonment issues. I wish they would've communicated more. Surprisingly this has a mystery which builds the intensity, although that does stand out I think the story still needs a bit more uniqueness within the series. This was a sweet romance. The story ha suspense, twist, turns and romance. Gabe must marry before his 27th birthday to inherit Walkers Island, as per his grandfather's will. That is only six weeks away. Rory has grown up on Walkers Island. When things start to go wrong on the Island, Rory needs help and will that help come in the form of Gabe? Their attraction is there but is it enough. The story will keep you interested to see if they get their happy ending.

This is such a Sweet story!
The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story, I found myself in love with not only the characters but also the world that was created.

The descriptions of the characters and their feelings are so involved, you can truly picture it in your mind. Their attitudes toward the events that are happening makes the story even richer.
