It's a big galaxy, and somebody needs to clean it.
When maintenance technician Triana Moore arrives on the planet Sally Ride, she just wants to get through the high-lev meeting and get her relationship with Agent Ty O'Neill back to normal. But everywhere she turns, she's reminded of the serial killer who got away. When a short escape from the boredom leads her to an eerily familiar crime scene, she starts to wonder if she's losing it. With the help of Ty, her frenemy Vanti, and a cupcake truck, will Triana survive the most boring meeting in the galaxy? And will she finally sweep her nemesis out of her life? Or will she run away again--this time for good?
Author of the Colonial Exploration Corps, Space Janitor, Recycled World, and Krimson Empire series.
I grew up in the US Pacific Northwest, and after twenty years roaming the country with the US Air Force, I'm back. I have a spouse, three kids, and a dog named Pippin.
I've been an IT guy, a choir director, an executive assistant, a stay-at-home mom, a college instructor, and that lady at the information booth in a tourist town. But writer is the best job ever, because I get to make stuff up. Stuff I wish were true; stuff I'm glad isn't true.
When I'm not writing, I like to knit, read, bake, and ski. I also love to travel.
Okay wow this one was so much better than the third book and I absolutely loved every aspect of it!! Vanti is BACKKK ♥ The plot was much more interesting and I loved all the Vanti x Triana interactions. That girl didn't hold anything back.
Also, the ending was super sweet and I'm so glad this universe is never ending so I can read spin offs for the rest of eternity. Julia Huni, please never stop writing these, thanks.
Ok, almost a clean sweep for me of the Space Janitor series and have to say Ms. Huni picked it up here. There's some good cleaver play in her both with our world, the future world, and what the characters are doing. I do find it interesting Ty is kind of a punching bag for the story and that Triana and Vanti seem to be the "sharper tools". It's cooll though because the story is fast and a little foot loose which was a nice pickup from Glitter in the Stars (I liked it but it's arguably the weakest in the series so far). This ones a solid 4 star book for me. Ms. Huni did a great job picking up from Glitter in the Stars, both the story and the way she built the story. Here we're seeing Triana/Annabelle picking up some responsibility and being a little confronted about herself, something good since while she's been a good and fun character I've always been bothered by "pretend runaway" (yes, Triana did move away from her mom and "attempt" to do do it her way but she's always had the access back to level 83 anytime she wanted and was able pull money from her special account if required). Watching Ty and Vanti confront Triana about how she is and is treating Ty and handling things is really nice. Merging this with Ms. Huni bring the main series of a Space Janitor to a complete story (other than the 0.#'s) is a good thing and nicely done; it shows that Ms. Huni thought out her story and assembled it pretty nicely. Merge this with some great plays on 20th/21st century words and TV shows and you have a fun story line that's done well. As for my problems in Sweeping S'ride, similar to my earlier reviews. I question the tech somewhat (sorry rings are a nice thing but was written by Ms. Huni I question their ability because it's to easy to move from one person to another and still have the other persons ability). Mege this with Triana's ability to hack into systems (please, if they're building systems that loose in the future they have many problems that could end space travel in a heart beat) and the lack of the ability to track people (a nice dream but currently looking like the ability to track will grow rather than shrink) provides counter-points to how good the story is but really don't matter unless you're hard won on tech and don't want to follow a fun story.
The series ends in an excitingly breathless fashion, but never really tackles the big issue of the Oligarchy out heroine was born into, leaving her own position in it fluid at the end. She will decide whether on not she wants to rejoin the obscene class ridden structure, or just ignore it. The status quo does provide a vague motivation for bad guy Bobby Putin (a gag that still doesn't really work), and there is a fundamental misunderstanding about how bodyguards work that, while not unique to this series, does a disrespect to the bodyguards and I must say the readers too (Trianna get captured and escapes about five times in the second half of the book in true Saturday morning Pictures style). Eventually a solid run to the finish but I expected a little more.
This was a fun and fast-paced - and slightly convoluted, maybe? - finale to the Space Janitor series. Overall, I had a lot of fun with these characters, although I'll admit that I can absolutely relate to Ty and Vanti's occasional frustration with their charge. (I mean, why can't Triana do just ONCE what the people whose literal job it is to keep her safe tell her to? How are they supposed to do their jobs properly when they get undermined at every turn?)
While you may spend much of the time wanting to slap some sense into Triana, the conclusion definitely is worth it. This is my favorite one of the Space Janitor series. The mystery was good, the plot was involved, complicated and very satisfying. The character growth and interactions really completed a great story.
In the "final" book of the series (OK, final so far), our heroine confronts her nemesis at last. A quick read with our usual quirky characters.
Would have been four stars for me, but it felt like the resolution of relational tensions with two of the ongoing characters was tacked on at the end. Too much for one book?
This was my least liked as I believe it was just supposed to be a wrap up of the series and a transition to The Rings of Grissom, which continues Triana's story and really the series. This has too many questionable decisions by the supposed bodyguards that are working for Triana's mother. That her "boyfriend" is still in question and still has some questionable attitude is just another drag for this part. If you cannot answer that question then you don't belong together at this point So that and the slapstick mystery that is fallen upon to get answered. They investigate and bungle it up more so than any book before it. We know the who of it just not the how and it is found out, not through great investigation but by tripping over it, and working it out poorly. The how and why is explained at the end and really, the explanation was just poor. So as much as I loved the books before it this was just a 3.5 for the fun of the bungling. It is a transition IMO.
The author is such a good, imaginative writer. I liked all the characters. The plot evolves with Triana, a tech in maintenance, getting involved in investigations and meeting Ty, the primary investigator. Each book has a murder/missing person. While each book has a different scenario, Triana gets involved and often comes to Tys defense and rescues him. They make a good team . Triana, the protagonist, is in hiding from her mother. Or so she thinks. Her mother is the Chairman of the Board that owns the space station. Raised as a top lev, super wealthy child, she had run away, gone to college to become a communication specialist and returned to the same space station as a janitor. lol In spite of her super intelligence she can be hilarious. Author, I totally love your use of 20th century entertainment as humor. Also I am pleased to say that I did not find any typos.
Another fun to be had been in bed with a few minutes late to be a few minutes and believable.Thankfully I don't want me there go some some time in my career and my phone is the first of the next some enjoying a few minutes some of the various types and I have to see some things to the series is that you need me and my was the first of all I want you can come to be had here
I enjoyed reading the book, but recently had the opportunity to receive an "ARC" of the audio version, and I must say that I'm not usually a fan of audio, and while it still wouldn't be my preference... I loved it.... I'd never thought of the characters having different accents... but it makes total sense! Our accents change from one part of the country to another so why wouldn't different planets have different accents? It really added to my enjoyment of the story.
This book was kind of everything I didn't want. Which is not necessarily the book's fault, but it was also unsatisfying plot- and pacing-wise, with some ridiculous tangents. Ultimately I still wanted stories about Triana, the space janitor, on a space station, not Annabelle, the heiress, and her relationship drama, and the series never came back around to that.
The characters here go on to star in a sequel series, but this is where I get off this ride.
*No Spoilers*. The series has been fun to read and this book is no different. I enjoy the humour the author brings to the series (a cupcake truck!). The book moves at a good pace and I’m really enjoying the characters the author has created. I purchased the series as a complete set, but am reviewing the books individually as I feel that’s how they should be judged.
Triana has to go to a meeting with other of the richest people in place of her mom. part way through the meetings she ditches everyone else and turns into a spoiled rich girl. she ends up getting kidnapped more than once. So do O’Neill and Vanti.
This one felt a little more rushed and confused than the other three, and Triana kept making decisions that drove me absolutely nuts, but this was still thoroughly enjoyable and had some really cute moments, as well as a satisfying ending. Definitely looking forward to reading the adventures of a *former* space janitor to see where the story goes after this.
Book four in the series. Triana arrives at the planet S'Ride for the High-Level meeting where she is representing her family. During an escape from the tedium of the meetings, she winds up discovering a corpse in a fashion similar to the one she found in the first book. That was the work of a High Level serial killer. I looks as if he has resurfaced to take revenge on Triana.
Probably my least favorite entry in the Space Janitor series... really highlighted how little mystery these books have sometimes... just shenanigans happening around the main character...
Rank Order: 1st book, 3rd book, 2nd book, 4th book... 3rd book was carried by Dancing with the Stars in space, for me...
The storyline is well written, and all the characters, good and bad, make this a gripping book to read. The heiress/janitor once again gets involved in cat and mouse chase to get retribution for previous experiences. I don't do spoilers, so I will finish by saying I absolutely recommend reading this book.
Great audiobook narration by Rachel Music! A fun read that continues to deliver the romping adventures that The rest of the series has. There were a couple of details i would have liked to be addressed more in the conclusion but i enjoyed this conclusion to the series!
Enjoyed the mystery, the feeling like you might be a bit crazy, or the characters. Ultimately good way to pass the afternoon and a good ending to the series’s
SO WELL CONSTRUCTED, Thought Through, Cute, Humorous, Delightful side order of Romance, Competently Rendered Technology. This Series is one of the Most Enjoyable Reads I've Ever Found!
The story continues for Annabelle and O'Neill in the fight against Putin. Around every corner another challenge appears. Thrilling action and questioning love everywhere.
Fairly good series. This episode, again, had very little janitoring. However, it did at least start with that role on her original job and on a temporary assignment. Later, she also used various skills from that job. Anyway, plenty of excitement and surprises. Even some humor.
