NEW RELEASE!! The Skinny On Jack book #2 in the humorous Jack B Smart cozy mystery series. https://amzn.to/2Kg7S0q Jacqueline Bouviér Smart, aka Jack B to friends and family, is an aspiring mystery writer and part time amateur sleuth who has once again sworn off men and murder.
Inheriting shares in a weight loss company over the holidays should be a good thing, not something that leads to bombs going off and your car getting blown up. Right? Jack B doesn’t think so. Nor does she trust on again, off again beau, Seattle Police Detective Stone Maddox to catch the culprits.
When she starts to investigate, she discovers more might be disappearing at the weight loss clinic than pounds. The owner has been missing for a few months. Before she can figure out what’s going on, her counselor dies. Then Stone gets involved, and his brother Duke, and three gun-totin’ grannies, and even her deceased ex-husband. Before Jack B knows what hit her, she’s up to her favorite hoop earrings in men and murder. Again.
Romance genre: Romantic thriller Part of a series: Yes (Love A Whodunit) Length: 241 pages
Plot: Tia is engaged to Grant, but she is about to break off the engagement. Then she sees on the news that Grant's twin brother, Mac, has been killed in a terrible accident at his toy factory. When she goes to Grant's apartment to console him, she discovers that it was Grant who was killed. Grant was pretending to be Mac in order to investigate some sabotage at the factory. Now Tia and Mac are going to try and solve the mystery of Grant's death (which was not an accident) while Mac pretends to be Grant and they both pretend to not be falling in love with each other.
Character development: Poor Mac! I don't think I've ever come across a hero who struggled so hard to be a typical romance hero. With only two - short - experiences with women, poor Mac was very insecure. I loved how Tia didn't say anything about his quick trigger the first time they were together, but just encouraged him to go again as soon as possible. And what do you know? With someone special, he was able to perform just fine! He was a beta hero, but in this case, nice guys do finish first. And last.
