She’s always been an outsider, but it’s a dangerous time to be alone and he may be her only hope.
Being raised in the foster system has made Kinley Taylor feel like a lifelong outcast, but it’s witnessing a young girl’s last few minutes on Earth that proves just how alone she truly is. Kinley has no one to turn to, no family, no friends…except perhaps the gorgeous Delta Force soldier she met months ago. The one she ignored when he’d tried to keep in touch, convinced he couldn’t really be interested in a relationship.
When Kinley ghosts him not once, but twice, Gage “Lefty” Haskins takes the hint. Clearly the pretty personal assistant didn’t feel the same connection he did. Or so he assumes…until she shows up in Texas, on the run for her life after already surviving an assassination attempt. Lefty couldn’t turn her away even if he wanted to—and he doesn’t. The longer he knows her, the greater the connection he feels. He just has to keep Kinley alive long enough to convince her she’s The One.
Easier said than done, when the man who wants her dead has friends in high places…and a very patient hitman on retainer.
** Shielding Kinley is the 2nd book in the Delta Team Two Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.
New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Tennessee where she lives, but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, Indiana, and Tennessee. She's married to a retired Army man who now gets to follow her around the country.
This is the 2nd installment of Susan Stoker’s Second Delta Force Team. This is the story story of Gage/Lefty and Kinley. This story gripped me right from the beginning. It sucked me in and had me in the edge of my seat the entire time. This author kept me wanting more the entire way through this story. There are various characters from other series which are brought up and some even show up. Throughout the story I has gasps that Susan Stoker couldn’t have done that, some misty moments and even a couple of oh hell no she didn’ts. I laughed at parts too. The ending, OoooooMmmmmmGggggg!!!! I was shocked, gripped, eager to find out how this author wrapped it all up in the neat tidy bow we love and adore. This ending was awesome!! I didn’t see it coming. The epilogue for the next book...HOLY SCHNIKIES!!! I can NOT wait for Brain and Aspens book!!’ This narrator was good. I forgot Susan had gotten another narrator, but was pleasantly pleased with how well she did. This is my 2nd story with this narrator. I’d listen to more by her.
What are you waiting for?? Go one click this story right now, I’ll wait. No, now. Waiting... You will NOT be disappointed by this story!!!
Shielding Kinley is book two in Susan Stalker’s Delta Team Two series. ‘Lefty’ aka Gage Haskins and Kinley Taylor are the second couple to come together for this Delta Team. And whew! What a coming together it is. But not like your traditional relationship.
As always Ms. Stoker gives us the ultimate alpha male in Gage. He is sweet, protective, and obviously hot. When he first meets Kinley, he rescues her from a precarious situation. But the romance doesn’t start there. Intrigued with this beautifully, shy woman Gage wants to get to know her better. Living across the country from each other, Gage pursues his quest for friendship by email and text. Hoping the connection, they felt when they met will sustain the distance.
Kinley has baggage. I’m not talking a small amount either. Imagine one of those BIG, HUGE rolling duffle bags full of issues. Disappointed, again and again, Kinley decides that any type of relationship with Gage would be a mistake. Better to stop before starting to avoid yet more disappointment. When they finally run into each other again, Gage is desperate to find out why Kinley ghosted him after their first meeting. Kinley is shocked that Gage is still trying to pursue a friendship with her after she purposefully ignored all his overtures.
Did I paint an intriguing picture yet? The road to romance is rocky and fraught with twists and turns in this story. Kinley’s past will have you sobbing into your coffee. Gage’s reactions and actions will have you silently cheering him on. Ms. Stoker gives the reader a lot to digest and because of this, the buildup of the story is slow and steady. The reader also gets more insight into Delta Team Two and their stories to come, which is always a nice treat. When you finally reach the pinnacle of the story, the reader is left feeling elated and drained. But in a good way. You’ve done the 10-mile hike up the mountain and now you are able to savor the amazing view you were waiting for.
Ms. Stoker has once again drawn a unique and fascinating story of this couple’s journey that leaves this reader in awe. Funny, sad, suspenseful…all the feels are included with this book. This book is a hit and worth picking up.
This was an ok read for me. I think after reading so many of SS’s novels they are all blurring together. There’s always one of two heroines, one beaten down in need of rescue or the other whose headstrong and goes after what she wants. Kinley was kind of a mixture of both. I really liked her character in some ways and disliked her just as much. From early on she runs to Gage for help but doesn’t want to risk him or his friends 🤦🏽♀️ Their every day lives and jobs are dangerous, taking on missions that the government probably would deny a part of if they were caught and yet Kinleys reluctance to trust them just pissed me off. Why even go to him for help then? Not to mention, aside from calling Tex once she was already in WitSec, the hero really doesn’t help at all except for introducing her to an FBI agent. The overall story wasn’t all that great either, instead I found it predictable and kind of boring. There’s limited action aside from Kinley getting the literal shit kicked out of her by an assassin. An assassin who gets found dead in his car to boot, not even caught by the hero to exact revenge. The whole premise of her seeing her boss and an ambassador with an underage girl kind of felt separate from the overall story. The case is taken over by the FBI and the bulk of her time is spent in hiding at Gages apartment. On that note they did have a very sweet and slowly evolving relationship. Kinley’s quirks make her an introvert and her past limits her from having any types of personal relationships. Gage however does not care and worms his way into her life getting her comfortable with him before taking things to the next level. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop, I just wish the story itself was better and more exciting. I mean what she oversaw was a US ambassador with a 14 year old girl who was raped and later found dead. Can we at least have gotten the pleasure to watch the slime ball suffer or something? Ok read but not my favorite by far.

Shielding Kinley continues the Susan Stoker tradition: Woman in trouble turns to military men for help. I actually enjoy this trope, and enjoy the various worldly settings Stoker uses. I did finally put my finger on what has bothered me about this and other Stoker books; more on that in a few.
Kinley is an assistant to a political figure who happens to be a real asshat. He isn't just an asshat to her though, turns out he is a creepy pedophile asshat too. Kinley gets a little too close to discovering what he and an ambassador might be involved in and now there is a hit on her.
I liked Kinley. She was a foster kid, so she has that constant need to please others and always be helpful. It's sweet but at times can make her seem naive. She is smart and savvy too and isn't one of those "too stupid to live" type heroines. When she finds out she is being chased, she makes smart decisions!
Lefty/Gage is a Delta Force soldier who meets Kinley on assignment and feels a connection. She ghosts him (for her own psychological reasons) but he can't let it go. I appreciated his tenacity without being a creepy stalker.
So, in all of these books by Stoker, the plot is pretty much the same. And there has always been something about it that I didn't love, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Well, in Shielding Kinley, I figured it out. Its the super awkward conversation between the heroine and the hero + his entire team early on in the story. Its always super intense about feelings and where your head is at and stuff like that. Reading it in this book, I had transference cringe. Here is this girl who doesn't know these people (on the Delta team) at all and they are bombarding her with SUPER personal questions while the one guy she does kind of know (but barely) is holding her/claiming her. Its so cringey! The awkwardness rolls off the page for me. Even thinking about it now is making me cringe. Its just so forward and uncomfortable. I don't find it the least bit romantic.
Having said that, obviously lots of readers don't feel that way because her books are always best sellers. I enjoy the trope and will continue to read the books, but this type of scene happens in almost all of them. I think I will just start skipping that part! If you like the danger of a romantic suspense, you will love Shielding Kinley.

This book is brutally honest. The strength of the leading lady is amazing. I love it when the author is fearless in their writing like this book. It shows that not only the characters but also the author is true to the storyline. Excellent performance from Virginia.
Hi! I’m super late on reviewing Shielding Kinley. I’m sorry. It’s weird times we’re living in.
So, let’s pick up my coffee flavor analogies, specifically the flavored syrups. If you’ve stumbled onto my previous review of Shielding Gillian I likened this Delta series to flavored syrups. Shielding Gillian was a salted caramel. What flavor is Kinley?
Oh, Kinley. She’s a heartbreaker and a love, purposeful and devoted, and sweetness and strong-willed. Isn’t that the way with a Susan Stoker heroine character, though? She’s had some pure crap dealt in her life. And she’s doing the best she can to recognize it and change it. But how hard is that? How many of us RL (real life) characters can do some self-actualization and make moves to correct or improve it? Listen, I have kids in some weird version of online school. My husband is working a job 400 miles away. I’m trying to maintain the normal. Some days I’m lucky to remember to put on a bra and brush my teeth. 🤪 But the key is that we’re trying. And so is Kinley. She evolves throughout the book into a more confident person. She’s gonna hold her own.
What flavor is Kinley? I’ve thought about this awhile. I really feel like Kinley is like a chocolate. Sometimes she’s a dark chocolate with notes of that unsweetened bitter taste. That one that makes you purse your lips and make that scrunchy face. It’s not that she’s bad—not at all. She’s like that unprocessed and original flavor of chocolate. She needs sugar. 😉 And guess who’s the sugar? That handsome guy, Lefty. He adds just enough love and acceptance to soften out Kinsey’s bittersweet. By the end of the book, Kinley is like a rich and creamy, decadent milk chocolate. She’s still got substance of dark chocolate, but the decadence of milk chocolate.
Shielding Kinley is the second book of the Shielding series with the Deltas dudes. Gillian was the first, Kinley is the second and Aspen is coming. Who wants to meet at the coffee shop? 😉
When Kinley Taylor looks out of her Paris hotel room window, she has no idea she was watching a young woman's final moments of life. The assistant to an American diplomat, she sees one of her boss's colleagues, the Ambassador to France, with a young woman wearing unique shoes. Days later, she finds out the girl has been killed, and now someone is trying to kill her to keep from talking. So she turns to the only person she can trust -- Gage "Lefty" Haskins, one of the special forces operatives who had been protecting her boss in Paris (who is also a man who has shown interest in her as a woman).
While there are significant similarities in all of Susan Stoker's books, it amazes me how much the little differences matter. Awkward, nerdy virgin Kinley has a lot in common with other Stoker heroines, while there's even less of a difference between most of Stoker's sexy military men. But somehow, she makes (almost) every book interesting and compelling, including this one. While the book also introduces the heroine of the upcoming Shielding Devyn, it still mainly focuses on Kinley and Lefty, which is great, since trying to do too much has been a flaw in some of her other books.
I can't say what makes Kinley one of my favorite heroines without giving away the end of the book, but suffice it to say that despite starting out with almost no self-confidence, she ends up doing amazing things.
I liked that at the start that Lefty too the time to talk to Kinley, to let her know that he was serious about wanting to get to know her, yet he wasn't in your face about it. The time they spent in Paris was great!
Later when Kinley needed help I was glad that she ran to Lefty, glad that they all stepped up to help. I hated that she was taken and how she was hurt. Her crawl to freedom was painful to listen to, but she did it. Even the aftermath was good and bad. Good in that Kinley learned she had a whole lot of people surrounding her, rooting for her to get better, but bad that she did the noble thing to leave them behind. That was so hard for everyone.
Even when Lefty knew things were ending, it was a bit bittersweet. He knew she was testifying, but she still wasn't around him, but he knew from friends that she was doing good. When Kinley walked into the bar, that was great, I could just see it happening in my mind and was happy that these two finally found each other again!

I loved the plot and the characters. Susan Stoker always keeps the readers engaged in the story and ties in characters from other stories in subtle ways. I can't wait for the next book in the series
5.0⭐️After reading this book that focuses on Delta Force operative Gage (Lefty) and Kinley, I found it to be a riveting, on-the-edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting, harrowing, emotional and passionate romantic suspense story that will not disappoint. In my estimation, the addition of too much specificity will land me in the world of spoiler-dom. Therefore, I will leave this strongly compelling story for readers to discover. I swear, after reading countless Stoker books, there’s always something new: a new twist, wrinkle or plotline. This book is no exception. Therefore, read it and experience all the feels in this one. Ok, yes I used the phrase “all the feels” for the first time. Well, if it fits . . . .
- Heroine is a virgin at 29. Nothing against virgins, but it seems to me to be a "trend" to have the Heroine be a virgin, or a very inexperienced woman (only bad sex, if any at all) and the experienced Hero. Not a huge fan of that.
- Hero and Heroine talk about their first meeting all the time. That's cool. But they all (even his mother) refer to the place as "Africa". I don't know how many times this word is mentioned until the 14% mark (24 times, I counted and couldn't believe it just how many times it is!). They don't talk about the country, or the city, or the hotel they stayed in. Nope. It's "in Africa" all the time. I interpreted this as such: none of these characters know where the hell they were staying. They just know the name of the continent. And then I thought that this was the same with the author. I mean no one would say "Hey, remember when we met in Asia?"
Heroine is described as strong and smart. Yet she's working overtime as an assistant for an ass who makes her cry all the time. If you're so strong and smart then do something about that. And no, it's not to give the ass boss another chance (he had his 100) or thinking that maybe that the problem will be solved with time. Move on.
Yeah, that was what I was thinking at 14%. It was enough. Don't know if I will read Susan Stoker anymore. I loved her first series, but somehow it doesn't work for me anymore. We'll see.

Kinley was raised in foster care without any stability or love yet she managed to get a college degree and a steady job in Washington DC as an assistant to a Senator. Previously, she’d met Gage “Lefty” while traveling abroad for work and encounters him again in Paris. Due to poor self-esteem, she’d not returned his texts or calls after the first trip. In Paris, he pushes to spend time with her again. They seem to click, but then she doesn’t contact him again. It turns out that she ghosted him a second time for good reason. And on their saga goes. Overall, it was entertaining, but there were a few things about it that bugged me, some more than others. First, the cover. Some of these covers are absolutely ridiculous. This one is that, but it is also unappealing. In fact, many are, so that’s a small issue. Second, the story was written recently and in it was mention of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is an active issue in the book such that when Kinley played hooky in Paris, she did not use an excuse of a fever as that would mean she’d need to quarantine. But later in the book when she was so sick with a high fever that she was delirious, the COVID-19 issue was completely ignored. I think this was because it would have been inconvenient for the plot if all the characters Kinley had contact with during that time had to quarantine, test, and/or be concerned about catching it. You can’t have it both ways. Either the pandemic is an issue or it isn’t. Third, the politicians were involved in pedophilia together. Is this a nod to QAnon? Please, Ms. Stoker, don’t validate real life conspiracy theories by putting them in our fictional mind candy. Fourth, normally the brutality of some of the plots are disturbing if you think on them too hard, but this one took the cake. The violence could have been toned down by half and still have been convincing. And if it actually were this extreme, I’d think Kinley would have broken more bones, lost some teeth, had her face irreparably smashed, etc. That’s a lot of complaints! On the plus side, there was the usual camaraderie with the team, supportive women friends, intimacy without jumping to sex, etc. This book even included a fabulous mother figure, who Kinley really needed. One of the intimacy themes in her books that I really like is the couples sleeping together before being sexually active. I kind of play a game in my head to guess how the author is going to arrange for them to be sleeping together. I read the ebook. 3/5.
Shielding Kinley is the second in Susan Stokers Delta Team 2 series, and it's heartwarming perfect!
Now, as a die hard Susan fan, I personally recommend reading the first book before reading Kinley, but the book can be read as a standalone. -but why miss out on all that goodness!-
Kinley is a loner, raised in the foster system, in crappy home after crappy home, she has learned to keep her head down and hustle. She has learned to be independent and hardworking, Kinley likes her time to herself and doesn't much care to socialize, but when Gage "Lefty" Haskins takes a interest in her....things change. After sharing a special time together in Paris, Gage comes to mean a lot to her, so when she sees something she's not suppose to on her last night in France, and her world comes crashing down around her... Gage is who she turns to to make it all better.
Lefty is Delta, and that means he's over the top in his protection of those that mean something to him, and that now includes Kinley. After meeting her in Africa, then again in France, Gage is determined to explore their connection. Kinley is different though, she's so shy she doesn't know what to think of the big bad Delta taking an interest in her. After blowing him off what he thinks is twice, he is ready to give up. Until she ends up on his doorstep, sick, scared out of her mind and in need of one thing. Him.
Follow Gage, Kinley and the rest of Delta Team 2 as they dig into the mystery of what Kinley saw and the connection between them.
Hot digity! I always get so excited when new books come out, but Susan's books are in a category of their own. My favorite parts of her stories are always reading how vulnerable the big baddies are. Sure they are out saving the world, getting shot at and saving people, but they are human too. Susan always shows a side of her characters that are so relatable, they are real people, just like any of us. As always, 5 out of 5 stars from me!
for the audio - Shielding Kinley is one of those listens that you can do while easily doing other things. It will keep you listening. It had good detailing introducing Kinley and Gage, then the situation before throwing the danger in. There is really good buy in to the story and characters.
I thought it was sweet that Gage already called Kinley by Kins from the very start. She was so introverted and admitted to herself that she just didn’t know how to interact. Kinley was amazing in her strength. The story didn’t pull any punches in how smart Kinley was about her situations or saving her from danger at the last moment. I appreciated the reality of everything.
Virgina Rose did a great job bringing the story to life. She blended all of the voices together smoothly. She was able to voice Gage without being over the top. None of the male voices sounded girly. I could always tell who was talking. She was able to bring the tension and emotion forward when it was called for. I enjoyed listening to Ms. Rose narrator.
While this is part of a series, it is a stand alone. A lot of the guys names get thrown in at the start, but it’s not necessary to really pay attention to them. I do get a kick out of the cameo appearance by Tex in all of the books. Shielding Kinley doesn’t disappoint.
OMG!! Loved this Audiobook/book!! 5⭐️ All the way!! OMG….I loved Shielding Kinley. As always, Susan Stoker, author, was able to write a military romance that causes one to feel so many emotions. From crying to laughing and back again. It is just one of the reasons that Susan Stoker is one of my favorite authors and is the main reason I love military romances. If you like MC or Military romances you will love this book. Says MC because the military teams that Susan writes about have the brotherhood, alpha men, protective, and honor just like the great MC romances that I love too. Shielding Kinley is part of a series and can be read or listened to as a stand alone but you will get so much more if you read or listen to it as a series so you can get to know each person on Gage’s Delta Team and make it a more enriching experience. I love listening to Shielding Kinley because audiobooks with the right narrators can really bring it to life. The narrators for Shielding Kinley did an excellent job. As always the sex scenes are out of this world 🔥💥. This book/audiobook has it all….emotions, action, alpha men who are protective, confident, treat each as family and inspires loyalty and honor as well. Highly and I mean highly recommend this book/audiobook.
About time we meet a character who's idea of a good time is curling up with a book but still has a spine of steel. Kinley is exactly that. More comfortable alone in her own skin, Kinley is forced out of her comfort zone after she witnesses a young girls last moments alive. On the run, she soon realizes the only one she can trust is the Delta Force man she's previously ghosted never being able to understand why he's ever want to be friends with her weird self. Of course, Lefty drops everything to help keep the woman he can't get out of his head safe. But soon, everything they've done to try to keep her safe from the hitman fail as she's abducted and nearly killed. But Kinley find her inner strenght and her will to survive is strong thanks in part to Lefty's love. But then she has to make an agonizing sacrifice to keep her man and new friends safe. Susan Stokes has successfully done it again and written a story that will take you on a gamut of all the feelings. As an avid reader who's completely content to sit quietly with a good book, I can completely identify with Kinley a fellow kindred spirit. Knowing that Kinley can find someone to love her for all her quirks gives us introverts hope.
I love Susan Stoker’s stories and Shielding Kinley is one of her best. We have Gage/Lefty the super alpha Delta Force soldier who is disappointed that after feeling a strong connection with Kinley she ghosts him. His desire to connect with her even if it’s just to be friends gives you all the feels. Despite this being a military romance, there are no damsels in distress in this book, Kinley is a force to be reckoned with just as much as Gage is. Kinley has had a hard, lonely life before she meets Gage and his team and does not feel worthy of love. But when Kinley’s life is in danger after seeing a high powered politician with a murderer victim the night she is killed, she seeks out Gage to help her contact the right people to share what she’s seen. This book has a little bit of everything just like you’d expect from a Susan Stoker story - sweet moments, strong friendships, fan your face sexy times, real life issues, imperfect characters, dangerous high stress situations, and so much love. With Shielding Kinley, book two in the Delta Two series, Susan Stoker once again proves she’s a fantastic storyteller.
4.5 ⭐️ gosh I loved this pair. Embarrassingly I can’t even clearly articulate why but Gage and Kinley delivered all the feels. I think at the heart of it, this story was written in such a way there was nothing in the world you wanted more than these two to have each other. Kinley gave Gage meaning and he gave her unconditional love. I appreciated that these two were not perfect but they were authenticate. Kinley was so incredibly strong and I loved hearing Gillian’s words carry her through. I love that Gage was protective without being a bulldozer. Often I feel a bit jibbed when the epilogue is basically the start of the next book, I feel like I’ve missed out on getting an extra snippet of the beloved couple but on this occasion I didn’t care at all. I felt so confident in their HEA that I felt I could just bask in the glow of it and that spread over to Brain and his story. I love that these stories don’t feel in any way repetitive, some how despite playing similar roles in the stories they are each clearly their own unique individual.
Wow to say that Kinley is a strong petite woman is an under statement. She survived many foster homes growing up, then puts herself through college and becomes an administrative assistant to a despicable and thoroughly disgusting politician and has to endure his never ending rudeness, is just more proof of her being a strong young lady, and then she witnesses a murder of and under age girl while in Paris with her boss. After returning home she then soon realizes that her boss and the Ambassador of France were responsible for the girls and possibly other murders as well,, so she travels to Texas for help from Gage/Lefty for protection, and then sadly gets kidnapped and beaten. She soon decides to go into WITSEC so none of her newfound friends get hurt. Not going to elaborate further, because I don't want to give away any spoilers. Just another great story written by none other than Susan Stoker.Happy reading.
Shielding Kinley is the second book in the Delta Team Two series and it was a page turner. It’s a slow burn romance and paced just right to keep you on the edge of your seat. You can’t help but fall in love with Kinley because of her strength and determination and hope right along with her that she gets the love she deserves finally. Just the first thought of big bad alpha men sitting around discussing reasons to get Kinley out of work is hilarious. I got a side eye from my sister when I laughed out loud at the conversation between Kinley and Gage’s mom. Another hit series great narrator and intense and lighthearted story from one of my go to authors, can’t wait for Shielding Aspen .
I loved Kinley and Gage's story. Well written and offering a spot-on blend of emotion and excitement, prepare yourself to have your heart melted as the thrills and danger keep you dancing right on the edge. I thought Gage was alpha, awesome and very swoon worthy. He was a genuine good man and a real hero. As for Kinley, I felt a big emotional connection to her. I could understand and relate to her and her fears and feelings so easily. Together, I thought these two made a great couple that I was fully invested in. There is single narration on this book. I found the narrator's voice pleasing and felt they gave a engaging performance that helped to pull you into the book and made you eager to linger.
Wow! Awesome Story and Narrator! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Audiobook Review 🎧 I am a huge fan of Susan Stoker and this book is another hit! I loved the way Kinley learned to open up and love after being with Gage and what a strong woman she was. I love Gage because he was so patient and loving with her. The other characters in the story were great too. This was an awesome story with lots of friendship, action and love! I can't wait until the next book to hear Brain's story and meet with these friends again! Virginia Rose's narration was awesome! Her male voice is incredible! You would think that there is a male and female narrator reading the book. I would highly recommend this book!
Kinley & Gage (Lefty) have a sweet, necessarily slow burn connection that I highly enjoyed! She's had a rough go of it, and Gage is determined to show her that she is worthy of friendship & of love. Great message!
I loved seeing the guys interacting, Kinley getting to know Gillian & her group of friends, being introduced to Devyn, and the chemistry & honesty between Gage & Kinley. There's definitely some steam, and of course the Susan Stoker classic suspense. LOVE LOVE LOVE ... this one part I can't talk about bc spoilers. ; )
The tease at the end for Shielding Aspen was intriguing & fun, too!! : )
OMG, Shielding Kinley is finally here and it was SOOOOOOOO GOOD❣️Kinley is working for a politician who travels frequently when Kinley witnesses an event, she probably shouldn’t have. She reaches out to him and suddenly her life is spiralling out of control😳Now she’s convinced someone is trying to kill her and the only person she can think of to help her, is Gage, the one man who finally SAW her, and the man she ghosted - not once but twice😱
This story was amazing as were the characters😍 I’m super excited to read Brain’s story next and I’m so happy that Gage and Kinley got their story too❤️
Every time I think Susan Stoker’s books can’t get any more awesome, she writes one that is even better! Wow! I think I went through the entire emotional roadmap with Shielding Kinley. Lefty & Kinley met in Africa while his Delta team was providing protection, and he wanted to keep in touch, but she ghosted him. So this time, in Paris, he makes sure to talk to her about it, and they seem to be on the same page. But folks, this IS a Susan Stoker book, so you know it can’t be that easy. And the path Susan take them on is not only exciting, but at times heart wrenching, and oh so totally worth the read.
Kinley has had a really rotten life, I felt so bad for her and then simply because she couldn't sleep it takes an even worse turn, but she also finally gets some good mixed in with it. Well deserved too. Lefty is wonderful, I loved how he didn't completely give up and immediately stepped up when needed, he was a real gentleman as well. This story was suspenseful, emotional and quite sweet in places, lots of love and care in between threats. There is a small amount of violence which is pretty graphic and full on. I love the team and how they have each others backs at exactly the right times, no questions, one call and everyone's on board in minutes. Loving this new series.
