Once in Long Ago, amid a general chaos of the city, were two men, one unseen, one handsome. Both growing experts with their skills. Each manifested an element of the human spirit within the dynamo of civilazation, that technological epicenter at the heart of the Country, where great minds were imagining the shape of the 22nd Century.
One was Eyer, ‘the invisible detective’ who would revolutionize law enforcement and promote legal reform across the Country.
The other was Dr. T. T. Tombs, ‘the red city devil’ who would be the greatest serial killer on national record and design a hotel for murder ahead of the biggest attraction in the history of The Unified Gates.
This is the story of good and evil, transparency and opacity, the Great City and the Red City—all in the shadow of the Ripper.
Drew Payne is a paranormal mystery/suspense/thriller writer that has yet to plant roots, but travels here and there, looking for a place to settle down. Drew loves all things that go bump in the night. Maybe not the thing causing the "bump" but the idea of it.
With more imagination than anyone should share, Drew decided to finally pull out some old manuscripts and see if the world is interested in more spooky, twisty paranormal mysteries. The hope is that Drew's world will keep you up late at night with that old adage we readers seem to love so much: Just one more chapter.
A definite different story about two men. Totally intriguing as always. Once I got into it, I couldn’t stop until I finished the entire book. Loved it.

What a truly amazing read this was. Such a great addition to this series. Wonderful well written plot and story line that is just so engaging and gripping from the start. The characters are so well fleshed out and enjoy following them in what they do. Twists, turns, suspense, drama we have it all in this. I won't give any spoilers away but do say you need to get on board with reading these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Shadow the Ripper takes us to the city of Long Ago a change from New Londone in the previous books. Introducing new citizens and a different kind of villain, yet still maintaining that blend of past, present, and future settings and gadgets; we learn a few new things and notice a few things that carry over. I really liked this one, but was left with questions still hanging over from the last book and the new questions rising from the cliffhanger ending of this one.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
This book did not read like part of this series. It felt disjointed and unrelated, with the exception of the Ripper, it read more like a standalone book. Lots of new characters and some jumps between future and past. I have to admit I was a little lost in this story only because I kept trying to connect it to the previous book in the series and it did not work. However, the writing was good and the story on its own was good and well written. I enjoy the mystery surrounding the Ripper, his origins and all things related. The book ends on a cliffhanger, so I am looking forward to the next book to clear up some new questions I now have.
This book has a much more literary style than the previous ones. As such, it took me a bit of effort to really get into it. I wasn’t quite as swept away by the story the way the earlier books dragged me into their narrative. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still creepy and fascinating and that little cliff-hanger ending means I’m dying to see what comes next. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the authors.
This one started a bit slow and it took me a while to fully get into the storyline. But once the story picked up I was more than engaged and kept turning pages. Storyline is intriguing and filled with suspense and interesting characters. Great addition to this series! Can’t wait to see what happens next!

The characters will pull you in and keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next! Now with this ending having to wait for the next book! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This has twists and turns, suspense and so much more. Following the characters through this intriguing storyline kept me turning the pages. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is book 4 in the series. When this series started, I really had a hard time getting into it then the last couple of books were really good. This one however, I struggled a bit with. I thought it was a bit drawn out so I am giving this book a total of 3.5 stars.
