New Londone is drowning in social and political unrest, a society on the verge of collapse and a people overcome with despair. Police and citizens in the Whitechurch District are at each other’s throats. Mob mentality has taken over, and lingering suspicion and heated tempers are raging on both sides of the thin line between good and evil. To make matters even worse, there’s a depraved killer on the loose, targeting the working women in East Edge. Inspector Frank Abberline has finally clawed his way out of the seedy Whitechurch sector, only to be sucked back in when the homicidal maniac begins to unleash his tour of terror. It’s not the inspector’s first rodeo, but this is also not a typical case. Something’s very off about this killer, a lurking darkness even more depraved than the mayhem the inspector has unearthed before. Will Inspector Abberline be able to reevaluate his beliefs, or even set them aside, so he can track and hopefully catch the Ripper?
Drew Payne is a paranormal mystery/suspense/thriller writer that has yet to plant roots, but travels here and there, looking for a place to settle down. Drew loves all things that go bump in the night. Maybe not the thing causing the "bump" but the idea of it.
With more imagination than anyone should share, Drew decided to finally pull out some old manuscripts and see if the world is interested in more spooky, twisty paranormal mysteries. The hope is that Drew's world will keep you up late at night with that old adage we readers seem to love so much: Just one more chapter.
I cannot wait to read more of this paranormal urban fantasy.
Frank, an Inspector with the New Londonne police, just accepted a new station transfer taking him out of The Edge. As the story progresses things go from the frying pan to the fire quickly, a new evil surfaces, and his view of the world he lives in will be shaken. Drew Payne’s Track the Ripper is an exceptional read. The whole time I was reading I saw the perfect blend of past, present and futuristic settings, the normal and the paranormal, and I cannot wait to read more of this paranormal urban fantasy. This book does not wrap up everything so there is a cliffhanger ending.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
There’s an almost steampunk feel to this story with its mix of modern conveniences and historical atmosphere. It took me a bit to get all the way into the story, I just wasn’t sure where it was taking me. But once it hooked me, I couldn’t get enough of it. The paranormal presence in this book is subtle until much closer to the end when it becomes more overt. I’m still pretty sure I don’t know what’s going on in this story but I can’t wait to find out more. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the authors.
A mysterious start to The Ripper Series that was intriguing. The characters are detailed and the storyline has suspense that kept me turning the pages. This was well written and does end in a cliffhanger. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This Ripper series comes from a new author to me. The book started off a bit slow for me but then sped up after time. It's suspenseful, adventurous and ends in a cliffhanger so hang on to your hats when you're reading this one.
