I'm Jonathan, a husband, father, and writer. I write because that's what I was born to do and I love doing it. Because of the support from awesome people like you, I get to do it full-time.
Wow, I read this premise in one seat! Great ideas, fast paced, gripping, and immersive! There is enough futuristic technology to satisfy a sci-fi lover. I love the way the author draws you into the story, and expertly wields flashbacks for character depth, inching the plot forward and starting to move the various players closer to their eventual destiny. The action is fast paced and the story very engaging. I had a hard time putting down this book! I wish Annihilation #5 was already released!
The original super-enhanced FM, Daniel Hunt, undergoes trial by combat against potential allies from other Corps, including Attila and Jinja, (who have united to resist the treacherous Voy invaders) then become its new leader.
Although bereft by knowledge of the mature and intimate relationship being enjoyed with another, by his former love Amber (whom he'd believed dead), Daniel is able to let her (and himself), move on with their lives - strengthened by the support of X and new companion, (Lady) Butch(ess), a huge enhanced female alpha wolf - plus Zoe and the remaining Immortal Corps/former Wolf Pack members.
As they gather to plan their battle strategy - to rescue the Galactic Government's envoys - at their formidable new HQ, Dragon Hold, (donated by the late multi-millionairess, Rosemary Cripps and managed by android Bapz), Daniel must take heed of Alerna's subconscious warnings, about what alien weapons the Voy will bring to the coming conflict - and whether he can trust the mysterious Madam Eternal, or the GG, who betrayed and tried to have him and his friends eliminated.
How will Jonathan Yanez' incredible book Vendetta, #4 in the amazing Forsaken Mercenary series, come to a conclusion - and what can our Mercenaries expect to come up against next, in their ongoing battle to save the Galaxy?
Only reading this and all Jonathan Yanez' fantastic dystopian military dramas - in an outstanding series that's not to be missed - will reveal the astounding truth...get your copy today - any which way you can!
This is an epic SciFi series for adrenaline junkies.
Daniel Hunt gets answers he's long been searching for, he unites enemies and leads a coalition of corporations against an alien invasion. He's not a merc anymore. Daniel is now in charge!
The settings, weapons, twists, and fights are as awesome as ever. And there's something beyond science in this story. No spoilers.
A furry friend with a connection to Hunt is a good addition to his life from this book. The drama, betrayal, politics and the epic battle at the end shouldn't be missed. (Spoilers - HALO jumps and mech vs giant aliens finally enters this series. ) Daniel Hunt's arsenal is amplified with changes to his MKII blaster, knife and axe.
The cyber-hunter woman from the previous books has an important role in Vendetta. I would like to read a spin-off series based on her. The ending was too shocking and unexpected which will up the intensity of book 5 that will release in September, hopefully.
Yanez is a brilliant author and I recommend you start this series with Forsaken Mercenary 1: Dropship.
We are continuing to fill in the gaps of our hero’s (Daniel Hunt) lost memories while appreciating the fact he is a good and honorable man. One very large obstacle is overcome, but the big battle is yet to be. This book is a not an ending of the biggest issue facing mankind, but surely an adventure you want to read. I can hardly wait for the next!!! As long as it brings Daniel’s new friend Butch with it. My heart cries for Daniel, but at the same time, I cheer for him! He is truly a hero you want on your side!
I'm totally disappointed in this series. Last book I was losing confidence and this book was awful.
The writing fluency was good--what happened was described well. But the actual world and characters became really stupid and shallow. The bad guys were childish, petty and foolish, shouting their bias, acting like stereotype idiots. And the good guys weren't any better. To decide leadership of the most elite corporations, they had a fist fight (no weapons allowed).
And, I'll share a minor spoiler, they reveal aliens. But these aliens look like humans (with minor tweaks), talk like humans. It would have made the story much more believable if they were another human faction. Making them aliens, then making them act and talk like humans was a waste.
But what ultimately killed it was that the grand battles--a big part of why you read this kind of sci-fi story--skipped all the tech and literally were rifles and swords. It's aliens. They don't use their ships to shoot down on a base, they get out of it and run up to the walls, then fight hand to hand to open the gate.
I could go on with more examples, but I'm just ranting to vent my frustration now. You probably got the point a couple of paragraphs ago.
Don't be fooled by the smooth writing style. This story shows a massive lack of imagination or thought put into the plot.
First the GG tried to play politics with their agenda to hide the truth from average citizens to try and steal/acquire alien tech, then they bring out dark magic and have the magic user enslaved by some necklace, they have to eat that rotten truth after getting their butts waxed; Daniel's running things and taking the hard hits, as usual, but he does find a new, very "extinct" ally, and finds some important answers; however although the outcome is good, not what he wanted. He does the right thing. As the "party" heats up, the aliens find out they do not know everything, especially human tenacity, and end up swallowing a hard pill; but then they go all "right wing" and put out some huge lies and propaganda to con the masses, aka average citizens with fake war footage, playing the victim while trying to create division. That doesn't sit well with our new coalition, as you can imagine. And, at the end a surprise visit....NEXT!
I think this novel was more building to what's to come, very much like a first book in a series. Which makes perfect sense as its the 4th book and likely setting up for the next two books. It's all about preparing for the impending war with the aliens. More conspiracies, government secrets, and corporations coming into play. We also learn a lot about the other aspects in this world - specifically the other corporations and how Daniel Hunt and his team are not the only modified humans.
Our hero is still rocking it. Bad guys and aliens beware! I think you will enjoy this series if you have not read the author before all his books are great.
If you have read this far in the series, you know it for what it is:escapist violent sci-fi. The protagonist is indestructible, the allies powerful, and the odds seemingly insurmountable, but it always turns out ok. They are good books for what they are....
A great cast of characters that keep you on the edge of your seat while you’re reading this you can’t drop the book because you want to know what’s happening next, can’t wait to the next book.
This series takes me back to classic sci-fi! If you love tough as nails (tungsten ones of course) characters just looking to save the human race, then download today!
WOW, is the best way to explain how much I like this series. Action and always another surprise around the corner. Read the book in less then a day. Addictive, in a good way.
Our reluctant hero, Daniel Hunt, is still searching for his lost love, Amber. He now knows that she might have not been killed on that bridge where Echo was to have done the deed. Apparently, a member of the Order had done something that either saved Amber’s life or at least prevented her death. You’ll find out the entire story as you read through the book.
More importantly though is the fact that the Galactic Government (GG) isn’t on-board with Immortal Corps idea of creating a unified front to fight the Voy. They intend to negotiate with the Voy and attempt to reach an agreement with them that would avoid any bloodshed. Of course, the GG have no idea about who they are facing. General Armstrong is in charge of the GG council and it’s his idea to attempt this negotiation. The GG has agreed to a private meeting with the Voy at the Way location which we are familiar with since that’s the location Daniel Hunt and the Way settlers fought the Voy. Daniel knows that the Voy are setting the GG up for an ambush. He’s also hoping that by sending himself and some of his Pack Protocol members, they can rescue the GG and then get their support once they find out just how ruthless the Voy really are.
The ambush happens just like Daniel figured it would and his group did rescue the GG, but only after General Armstrong lay dead on the battlefield. He refused to retreat, so when he died his second-in-command proved to be much smarter and withdrew the GG forces. Daniel and his Pack members also managed to get out, but they found out that the coming invasion by the Voy was not going to be easy to put down. The GG finally threw their support behind the Immortal Corp. as well as about twelve of the larger other mercenary corporations.
Daniel became the leader of this new coalition by using some very barbaric means for such an advanced civilization. Of course, this means he had to fight and just barely won his last battle with an opposing corporation. But, he did manage to get the backing of all the corporations after they found out about the ambush with the GG. It seems now that everyone knows that not defeating the Voy isn’t a choice if they want to continue to live.
This is a pretty good story. Daniel and the Immortal Corp. plus the Way settlers he met previously, have found a very secure HQ courtesy of the late Rosemary Cripps, a.k.a. Rose. She was quite wealthy and had put a lot of her wealth into building a fortress which now became the property of Hunt. It was a vast estate and well stocked with everything from creature comforts to an unbelievable armory. It servers as the perfect HQ for the Immortal Corp. with Daniel as now the leader.
The story doesn’t end here. In fact, the final battle hasn’t even begun. While there’s about two days before the Voy begin their massive attack, Daniel doesn’t believe he’ll be able to accumulate enough forces. He and his people will be at about a four to one disadvantage, something you normally won’t live through. Should be very interesting.
I loved this series. Great characters with realistic situations and lots of action and adventure. I look forward to more from this series 😁and I can't wait for the next one.
I’m really loving the story of enemies uniting against a fearsome foe. The story of redemption for a bunch of shady characters is appealing to me. I can’t wait for the next chapter.
Well another great storyline with plenty of action and banter and how appropriate to bring a real life wolf lol well done looking forward to Annihilation. Now
