There are so many recipes that it’s going to take me years to try them all. I can’t wait. Early on in the book, the author reminds you to forget about being a perfect cook and to experiment and have fun. Even before I got into exploring the recipes, that line put me in the right frame of mind to choose a dish and try it out. Everything is so easy to read and the Instant Pot-specific instructions make this one superior to cookbooks with recipes I have to adapt. I love how easy the instructions are to follow and that every recipe says how many it serves—so it can be adjusted according to how many you’re feeding. I also love the variety of recipes. There’s something in here for everyone, for any occasion, no matter their tastes or dietary restrictions or mood. I think a few of these dishes are going to be crowd favorites when I start cooking for friends and extended family again, and I’m really excited about that. This is a fantastic addition to my cookbook shelf and I am so glad I have it!

Disappointing. Too many recipes are without full directions so you must guess how to make them.

Examples:

Top of page 19: Baked Eggs and Green beans.
Green beans are listed as ingredients but not mentioned in the directions in my book. Are they added in with leeks, bell pepper and garlic or later when the tomatoes and kale are added?

Middle of page 22: Colombian-Style Red Bean & Corn Bean Dip
Red beans are listed in ingredients but not in directions. Are the red beans already cooked or dry? Are they canned and added at last in the food processor?

There may be more like this but I’m now hesitant to go further in book. Have these problems been resolved in a new edition and I was sent the earlier edition? Kind of disappointing as I’m sure you spent many hours preparing your lovely book.

Will probably return.

I love cooking and am always looking for new cookbooks to give me more inspiration. And I LOVE my pressure cooker. I use it at least once a week, if not more often, and have felt my tried and true recipes are getting old. I needed new ideas so was thrilled to try this cookbook out. The recipes are easy to follow, well written, and I didn't notice grammatical or mechanics errors. For nearly every recipe, the ingredients were things that are simple to find (even in these tough times of COVID shortages) or items I already had on hand in my home. And the few I have tried so far have been great. The kids have eaten them (2 of my 3 are extremely picky eaters, so finding things they like is near impossible most nights) and my husband has plenty of leftovers for work the next day.

The only downfalls that I saw with this cookbook....
- The intro says there are 800 recipes in the collection, but some are simple things like making hardboiled eggs, which I do not consider a "recipe" in any way. Others are repeated. I saw a few recipes that were in multiple sections of the book. The recipes are all numbered (so number 800 is Caramel-Walnut Brownies), so I didn't have to sit and count the recipes to determine how many there were, but with the repeats, there are not 800.
- Being a Kindle edition, there were no pictures included. So much of what we do in today's world is visually based. I find it inspiring to see what the final outcome should look like. I realize that there is no way to include a picture for EVERY recipe, but I do appreciate having some visual appeal to cookbooks for inspiration, guidance, and to break up the overall white space on each page. I have seen other Kindle books where there are images included, but am not sure how much it adds to the overall file size and if that was the reason images were left out, or if they simply were not taken.
- Creator credits - I did not see any indication of who created the recipes. I always assume the author of the book who compiled it was the person who created the recipes, but there is not indication in this collection as to whether the author created them or simply compiled a group of favorite recipes that were then converted to insta-pot recipes.
- Nutritional information was not included. Being one who is trying to be more health conscious and who has a teenager who is learning how to cook healthy meals for himself as he prepares for life on his own soon, we go over the nutritional information in most recipes. I would have liked to have known the calories, carbs, etc. per portion. It tells you how many servings the recipe gives you, but nothing more. I would appreciate seeing full nutritional values so that I can better determine what to make for my family or where I might feel it best to substitute something else. There are plenty of apps that can give you full nutrional information if you input your recipe, so though it might have taken a little more work from the author, it would have made for a much more informative, beneficial cookbook overall.

But overall this is a nice collection of recipes that can be used with any pressure cooker. Though it is written specifically for Insta-pot users, I have had no problem figuring out how to use them with my off brand pressure cooker and have found success. Definitely a good starting point for someone new to pressure cooking.

I would have given this a 5 star rating had there been just a little more information.

“No matter if you’re a solo-eater, or if you cook for your family or friends — you’ll always find dozens of recipes to satisfy everyone,” Simon Rush writes in the introduction of his book, The Ultimate Instant Pot Cookbook: Foolproof, Quick & Easy 800 Instant Pot Recipes for Beginners and Advanced Users.

~ What ~
This one-hundred-and-forty-seven-page paperback targets those interested in making a myriad of quick recipes with their Instant Pot. Containing multiple choices on each page, the book offers many variations for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts while also adding the writer’s favorites, a cooking times chart, and index.

After a table of contents and introduction, the 800 recipes are divided into basic & simple, breakfast & brunch, beans & grains, pasta & rice, fish & seafood, poultry, pork, beef & lamb, vegetarian & vegan, soups, stews, & chilis, side dishes, snacks & appetizers, and desserts. Each recipe has a bold heading followed by a list of ingredients in used order and serving size. Directions are in paragraph format and include the total time to make.

Some interesting recipes are Fluffy Quinoa, Vanilla Sweet Potato Oatmeal, Rosemary Butter Beans, Pasta alla Peperonata, Pouched Trout with Pomegranate, Drunken Chicken Tenders, Basil Chicken Casserole, Fall Pork Stew, Addictive Beef Minestrone, Mughlai Eggplant, Ceaser-Style Veggie Soup, Coconut Red Cabbage, Warm Reuben Dip, and New York Brownie Cake.

~Why ~
If you enjoy using an Instant Pot, you will enjoy the multitude of recipes. I like that the recipes are varied, with some of them being unique. The instructions are simple and to the point.

~ Why Not ~
Those who do not have or use an Instant Pot will have no need for this book. Others may wish there were photographs of the finished dishes. Some may want caloric and nutritional information if they watch their diet.

~ Wish ~
I prefer books with fewer recipes that always contain photographs so I know what to expect the dish to look like. It may be less daunting to find something to make if there were half of the recipes. The only way to pick and choose a recipe is to look through the table of contents to find something and then search the page number to see what ingredients are required.

~ Want ~
If you are looking for a cookbook for your Instant Pot, this may be a good option, but it may be a little overwhelming with so many options yet too simple in its instructions.

Thanks to the author for this complimentary book that I am under no obligation to review.

iNSTANT POT RECIPES

The Ultimate Instant Pot Cookbook contains hundreds of recipes from basic and simple to more complex dishes, but still easy-to-prepare dishes, all using an instant pot. The chapters are broken down into categories:

Basic and Simple
Breakfast & Brunch
Beans & Grains
Pasta & Rice
Fish & Seafood
Poultry
Pork
Beef & Lamb
Vegetarian & Vegan
Soups, Stews & Chilis
Side Dishes
Snack & Appetizers
Desserts
My Instant Pot Favorites

It also has Instant Pot cooking times and a recipe index. The recipes list all the ingredients, the number of servings (which seems to be 4-6 on average), and Directions.

What I like, is that the recipes are REAL INGREDIENTS, not hard to find things and there is something for everyone. The downside, which is just my personal preference, is that it contains no pictures of recipes. For the cost of $10, it is a bargain and worth it--even without pictures that would have driven up the cost of the book.

For fairness purposes, I read this cookbook on my Kindle app on my phone-perhaps this threw off formatting. There were numbers before each title line that weren't concurrent, capitalization was completely off (words capitalized in the middle of a sentence) and it was extremely difficult to read. There were very few original recipes that one couldn't find on Pinterest (or Google, for that matter) and instructions were incomplete - as someone who's cooked for three decades, I could muddle through it, but I gave this book to my son and his girlfriend, they would call me for clarification on multiple recipes.

Wow, I am such a sucker! I cannot believe I paid almost $30 for an AI-generated fake book... There's no proper index (just an alphabetized list of recipes with page numbers). There are no images. Ingredients are mentioned in the list but not in the instructions, and vice versa. The recipes appear to be scraped from the internet. Oh, and this author just has one book to his name, just like Karen J. Borders (the author of another one of these suspiciously-high-number-of-recipes books). I've heard of these faux books being sold on Amazon before, but now I can proudly say I was stupid enough to buy one.

Some of the recipes seemed to be repeats but for a few subtle changes of a few ingredients. But many of the recipes were creative and that is what helped me to be creative as well and sometimes to throw caution to the wind and ‘experiment’ with a few ideas of my own. Overall the recipe book was quite good & I enjoyed many a meal. Most were quick to make and relatively simple but with good wholesome time saving meals. I bought this the book and gifted it to my son & daughter in law who have used it extensively in their busy household.

Easy Format

And great recipes. I was worried that 800 recipes would be unwieldy, but it is not. Just go to the contents page and every single one of the 800 recipes are listed. There are subtitles, like pork, chicken, desserts, etc. And you can do a top left tab mark to mark your favorites. Also, each recipe is on one page, so they are not crowded together. The digital price is reasonable, I got it for $4.95. One downside is there were no pictures of the completed meal.

Very informative. I've had an Instant Pot for years now and never really used it so this cookbook not only provides very in depth instructions, questions and answers to common topics about pressure cooking, but it also provides handy techniques and tools that work well with the Instant Pot. I haven't tried the recipes yet, but a lot of them have me planning my weeknight dinners for the next weeks to come to try them all out. Great cookbook for making the world of Instant Pot super easy!

It’s a good one!

Recipes are simple, and to cook and prepare is often less than 30 minutes. These recipes will keep you busy for a long time. The book is so enticing I spent over four hours the first day I received it examining the recipes. I have gone through several instant pot recipe books and this tops them all.

I own literally HUNDREDS of cookbooks, and I can unequivocally say that this is the WORST cookbook that I have ever seen. It is completely rediculous as far as quantities are concerned, and I would be SERIOUSLY shocked if ANY of the recipes had been actually tested in an instant pot EVER!!! Do NOT purchase this book, and if you have, I would SERIOUSLY recommend rethinking the recipes.

Great resource for Instant Pot fans

With 800 total recipes, you are bound to find some gems here, along with many of your favorites. The author does a great job of selecting recipes from many far- flung cultures and has hundreds of vegetarian options. I am new to the Instanr Pot trend, so this is my go-to resource until I get it mastered.

No index

While this book has a gazillion recipes, there is no index in the back, and the Table of Contents is so many pages that it's hard to find the section you want. A+ for content and clarity of instructions, C- for ease of use.

No Pictures!

I read this book with Kindle Unlimited.
While there are many recipes in this book, there are no pictures. How am I to know what it's supposed to look like when it's done? I would do better looking for Instant Pot recipes on YouTube.

Poorly organized! Where's the index?

This book thoroughly frustrated me. There is no usable index to enable search by ingredient. The table of contents requires scrolling through titles of individual recipes with no option to find a type or category.

Interesting cookbook

He has a lot of good recipes, and some interesting ones with (to me) unusual food combinations. The book is also more upscale than other IP cookbooks I have, using ingredients I’ve never heard of. The Kindle version has a number of typos and occasional missing text in the recipe directions. Recipe number 265 for Chicken Cordon Bleu even omits the main ingredient (chicken) from its list of ingredients. The only reason I knew it was missing was because it was in the title and the directions said to add it. But it wasn’t listed in the ingredients, so I wouldn’t have had it on hand. Another one... recipe 634 for Traditional Southern Chili has celery in it. As a born and reared Southerner nearing the ripe old age of 70 who loves chili, let me tell you that I’ve never added celery to my Traditional Southern Chili. Another goodie - recipe 665 for Chicken Noodle Dip has no noodles in it. Curious.

Which brings me to my final point. Some of the recipes’ directions are confusing for new and possibly even intermediate cooks. There were a few recipes I wouldn’t even attempt based on the instructions. I don’t know if he left out steps or just threw them in as he thought of them, but they were confusing. And as I mentioned, I was looking at the Kindle version. Maybe the print version is accurate.

As I said in my first statement, he does have a lot of good recipes so if you are an intermediate or better cook, go for it. You’ll have a great meal.

I just bought an Instant Pot a few days ago, so this cookbook will definitely come in handy. I've already found several recipes that I want to try. I did try one of the whole chicken recipes and it turned out good. Lots of recipes, but not much info on how to use the Instant Pot, so if you're just looking for recipes, this is a good place to start.
