You will enjoy a 365-day devotional filled with meditations on faith, hope, and love from the writers of Our Daily Bread. These daily readings will provide encouragement through excerpts from God’s Word, engaging stories, and compelling quotes. You are invited on a journey to build your faith in God and in His Word, to know there is hope for your present and future, and to fall more deeply in love with Him.
I absolutely loved this devotion and I am Reading it again this year. I have a group of friends online and we pray, read the Bible and a devotion yearly together. We chose this one again! It’s fantastic
This is a wonderful devotional. I am sad in a way that the year is over because I'll miss reading these every morning. I highly recommend journaling after reading each day's entry. It really helps to make them more meaningful. I chose it for last year as a way to work through a season of grief. I can see how I can pick this book up again in a few years, re-read it, and it will be like reading it for the first time because my circumstances in life will be different than they are now. The messages are short, making it doable if you only have a short period of time to spend in God's word every day.
It's a lovely 365 days devotional book by The Daily Bread Ministries. Though I was not consistent at reading this book daily, the short stories / snippets always astounded me as they pointed towards Faith, Hope and Love that we find in Lord Jesus Christ. Absolutely recommended!
The Bible talks about Faith, Hope, and Love "What Really Matters: Faith. Hope.. Love. 365 Daily Devotions from Our Daily Bread" was compiled by Our Daily Bread Ministries and printed by Discovery House. The book is a collection of "Our Daily Bread" articles and focuses on the three eternal traits (Faith, Hope, and Love) of the redeemed. Those "subtitles" are linked to 1 Corinthians 13. The general editor, Dave Branon, states that those are the ones that really matter. The daily contribution deal with one of these three traits. They are based on a specific Bible passage that should be read before the devotional. Then the devotional by one of the authors is introduced with a Bible verse which is sometimes, but not always, taken from the daily reading. The contributors explain the verse, most often with examples from their own experience or from the live of other Christians., sometimes also challenging the readers (e.g., Dave Branon on Jan 5: "As you think about your situation, how do you see God's role ..."). Every contribution concludes with a brief quote. The links in the table of contents in the digital version allow readers to jump to the first day of each month. This is very helpful as well as the scripture index containing verses and dates at the end of the book is a really helpful tool when readers want to search for the contribution to a specific verse. The short devotionals (about two to three pages) can be used as an encouragement when the readers do not have a lot of time for Bible study and I recommend the book for these uses. I do not recommend the book for readers who are looking for an extensive Bible study since this is not the goal of the book. The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. #WhatReallyMatters #NetGalley
A collecton of articles from Our Daily Bread, "What Really Matters: Faith, Hope, Love" offers readers a year's worth of devotionals that are challenging, encouraging, and practical. The articles focus on these three characteristics which spur us on in this life and anchor us for eternal life with Christ in heaven.
If you're looking for a full-fledged Bible study, this book is not for you, but if you're looking to start or end your day with a few verses of Scripture and a short devotional thought, then this book is exactly what you're looking for. It's very biblically founded (thanks to Our Daily Bread's commitment to truth). "What Really Matters: Faith, Hope, Love" offers snippets of Bible teaching as well as encouraging stories of God at workin various ways. If you're looking for a quick, in-and-out kind of spiritual focus each day, "What Really Matters" fits the bill.
Note: I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for this honest review. The opinions expressed are entirely my own.
What Really Matters is about just that. This book of short readings, one for each day, is about living a life in accord with one's values and beliefs. Taking the few minutes in the morning (or later) to pause, read and reflect, is a wonderful way to have a day that is filled with kindness and mindfulness. There are suggestions for bible verses to study which I think readers may delve into further should they wish. I myself don't. The book is geared towards those who are Christian but the underlying messages are for everyone. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this book in exchange for an honest review.
I received an ARC of this book from Discovery House Publishers via NetGalley, this review is my personal opinion.
This devotional is base on three specific topics: Faith, hope, and love. We have a recollection of known authors of Our Daily Bread. With a small verse, a bible reading, and interesting reflection and finally a small declaration. What I like about this devotional is that even do they have the same structure, we have different writers with experience and visions on life. With an easy language and uplifting message, I believe that this devotion is a great addition to our Bible study time.
What Really Matters is a terrific devotional book. As a long-time Christian I found it beneficial in keeping my faith firmly rooted. I think it would also be great for a new Christian as they read over and over about the truth's of God's love for us. One aspect I really appreciated was each day prompted you to read a passage of scripture first. God's word is truth and the inclusion to read it I feel makes this a strong devotional to help one know God deeper rather than just be encouraged. I received a dARC from the publisher via Netgalley. While that version is fine, I wanted a physical copy to mark and jot thoughts and prayers down in so ordered one for the remainder of the year.
I just reviewed What Really Matters by Compiled by Our Daily Bread Ministries. #WhatReallyMatters #NetGalley
Always encouraged by the authors of Our Daily Bread Ministries. This book reassure that there is hope in the despair, boost your faith, and refresh your love, as the essential weapon in your life. Made for a whole year, it will help you rediscover yourself and your purpose in what really matters.
I love these compilations of devotions by Daily Bread. Each day has a verse and a section of verses to read with a page long devotion. Devotions are short, but encouraging in a Christian's life. Many devotionals are more about the author than God's word, but Daily Bread keeps there publications to the growth in your faith. I would encourage others to purchase this book if looking for a new devotion for the New Year.
I absolutely adore this daily devotional; I have used it every day since receiving an ARC from Netgalley. The daily devotion isn't too long nor bland; there is a daily verse to start with as well. The devotion is based off the verse of the day, which is followed by a story that relates to it, then ends with an encouraging sentence.
This book is a very short daily devotional. I tend toward Bible studies or longer more thought provoking devotionals, so this book was just okay to me. The teaching seems sound, and the devotions are on point, it just isn't for me.
Thank you for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book. My opinions are my own.
This book was disappointing. Each daily entry starts by telling the reader to read a Bible verse, but the verse isn't listed in the book. Of course I could get my Bible out and look up the verse, but it seems odd for it to not be included in a devotional book. The reflections on the Bible verses were quite shallow. I read for a while and then gave up.
Great collection of stories that tie in well with the BIBLE verses given, allowing us a daily reminder of what really matters. It is a great book for anyone looking to have a new year with a daily reminder of the work God does in our lives. 365 essays, one for each day of the year.
"Daily Guideposts: 365 Spirit-lifting Devotions for Women" 🌟🌟🌟
Genre: Christian devotional for women
This is the classic Daily Guideposts story telling style. Features analogies from famous authors, ministers and other public figures. Sweet and relatable but it didn't impact my daily life.
