December comes to quaint Hearts Bend, Tennessee, with a blanket of white and the glitter of Christmas lights.
For JoJo Castle there is no place like home. Her onetime love of adventure ended when her life in the big city came crashing down. Now that she’s home, she never wants to leave again.
Country music sensation Buck Mathews has charmed the world with his smile and his music. However, news of his mother’s illness brought him home to Hearts Bend for the holiday season.
Working with her cousin Haley in The Wedding Shop, JoJo has no aspirations of love. But when her high school crush returns to town, her buried feelings surface.
Busy with his career, Buck hasn’t had time for family and friends, much less love. Seeing JoJo in The Wedding Shop reminds him there are things more important than his career.
But JoJo and Buck have opposing life goals, and there’s no middle ground. Can love, especially the kind that touches hearts at Christmas, overcome her fears and his quest for greatness?
With the help of a very special wedding dress, there just might a Christmas miracle.

I never miss a Rachel Hauck book. Never. When I open a new book by her, I feel like I've drifted into the sublime world of peace, great spiritual connections and characters that just take up residence in my heart. When I heard she was doing a Christmas novella based on her Wedding Dress book, I was so excited to read it. And I was definitely not disappointed.
JoJo Castle has let fear take root in her heart and it has mushroomed until she now denies herself great happiness with the man she has loved since she was in school. Buck Mathews has always loved JoJo as well, but hasn't really realized it. But there is a big obstacle standing in their way. Can they find a way around it? God has some surprises for this precious couple.
Hauck brings it once again with her trademark touch of the Divine in each book she writes. It's so wonderful to see this in her books. It is incredibly precious to me. It's amazing to see how she lets God work in her books and the lives on her characters. I read this one in a few hours. Loved every moment. I highly recommend this novella.
*My thanks to the author for a preview copy of this book. The opinions stated here are entirely my own.
Update: Christmas Day 2021. Just finished a reread. Again this book has brought tears to my eyes.
Charming. Romantic. Christmassy and winsome and touching, to boot. I loved returning to Hearts Bend, TN, in Rachel Hauck's The Christmas Wedding Dress! JoJo tugged on my heart from the opening pages and Buck had me swooning in full force. And the mystery of the wedding dress was as enchanting as ever. Such a perfect holiday read!
I fun little Christmas Read. The story of a women scared of life and a famous Country Music Star who falls in love with her. Will she overcome her fears and fall in love. There is hope, faith and love with a little bit of magic in this book. Even you always know the couple will get together in these books it will have you wondering, will they? The characters were fun and the main female character was different from a lot of women I have read before. I don't believe love can happen so fast but it is fun to believe it can. I fun Christmas read and the book is a short read, you can finish it in a day. I would recommend it to any Christmas readers out there!!
The Wedding Dress Christmas is a quick feel good, holiday read that is quick to read and get into the Christmas spirit complete with miracles. This series all started with The Wedding Dress and then continued with The Wedding Shop. I really recommend reading them all in order. In this novella, we meet JoJo Castle, who works with her cousin Haley in The Wedding Shop in Hearts Bend, Tennessee. Haley bought the shop with its long history of being a bridal shop many years ago, something that she always wanted to do as a young girl. After an unpleasant event in Dallas, Jo moved home after having a successful career in Public Relations to help Haley. Country music star Buck Mathews returns home to Hearts Bend after hearing that his mom has recurring cancer. He plans to put his tour dates on hold and stay home during the holidays. He and Jo were friends in high school. He is also friends with Haley and her husband Cole. When he sees Jo, old feelings are brought to the forefront. But will she admit to her feelings for Buck? She lives in sense of fear recurring from her reason for leaving Dallas plus her family has a curse. Or do they? This is a quick read that has moments of humor along with dealing with serious issues, overcoming fears, faith and a little bit of magic and miracles. Another great read by a great author, one of my favorite authors.
A Rachel Hauck book releasing is a book I will guarantee you won't want to miss. So let me tell you about this do not miss book while reading it you will feel happy and light so I suggest you have a delicious pastry with you and a warm drink . You will also feel this is a magical book because it really is, fairy dust and fairy lights are surely sprinkled upon it's pages. A special Christmas time wedding that almost didn't happen but it did, the fear is no longer! A very special vintage wedding dress and an old battered trunk will keep you mesmerized as you read. The end of the book advises readers to read her earlier release "The Wedding Dress." I remember how magical that book made me feel as well and I can't wait to go back and reread it. This has to be one of my absolute favorite books this year!

THE WEDDING DRESS CHRISTMAS (The Wedding Collection Book #3.5) by Rachel Hauk is a heartwarming small town holiday romance novella. This story is a part of The Wedding Collection series which features a special magical wedding dress and while only novella length it packs an emotional punch. (Have the tissues ready.)
It is Christmas time in Hearts Bend, Tennessee.
JoJo Castle returned to the safety of her parents’ home after a horrific personal attack while working in Dallas. Her dreams of adventure and life in the big city are gone. While she is happy working with her cousin in The Wedding Shop and helping with projects around town, she has no interest in love or marriage for herself.
Buck Matthews left Hearts Bend with a dream of country music stardom. His dreams have come true, but he comes home for the holidays when he receives news of his mother’s illness. While his career is at its height, being home reminds him of the things that are missing from his life.
JoJo and Buck were close friends in high school, but life moved them in different directions. With opposing life goals and JoJo’s ever-present fear, can the magical wedding dress and the man in a purple shirt help these two realize a special holiday miracle?
For a quick novella read, this story has well developed characters, an emotional punch and a holiday HEA. Even though JoJo and Buck’s romance moves quickly, it is believable because of their previous friendship and the realistic adult discussion of feelings throughout. There are no sex scenes in this novella. The religious elements in this story are hinted at Christian values and not preachy. I normally do not give novellas more than a 4-star rating, but this one deserves all 5. I am glad I gave it a try and now I want to go back and read the full-length novels in this series.
I highly recommend this beautiful holiday romance novella!
Such a richly written Christmas novella. Rachel Hauck is back with a story that will ease you into the season while pulling you into the characters’ lives. I loved every hope-filled page.
Oh, this was such a wonderful story! It is a novella, so it does not take as long to read as a full-length novel, however it is a very nice length and the author definitely didn’t scrimp on the emotions! No way! This story has all the feels.
I loved that JoJo and Buck had a history as friends, extremely good friends. Although that friendship didn’t translate into a romantic relationship in the past, it was beautifully clear in this story that their time for love had finally arrived. I just loved the connection these two had and that their path to each other contained obstacles that needed to be overcome.
And, of course, there was the amazing wedding dress that readers will recognize from the previous stories, The Wedding Dress and The Wedding Shop. Once again, the dress plays a pivotal role in this romantic story. I absolutely loved this tale from start to finish.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
I smiled, laughed out loud, and maybe even shed a few tears of joy throughout the reading of this book. This one is definitely going on my top ten Christmas list for this year!
Sweet romance with a little faith and a little magic
My rating is 3.5 stars
I really liked Buck. Though he was a famous country music star, he was down-to-earth and didn't seek attention. He loved his family and his hometown. His persistence in wooing Jojo was sweet!
Poor Jojo had been hurt and lived a life of fear. She expected bad things and was determined that she would never fall in love or get married. Everyone in her town loved and respected her, and she loved and respected them.
I enjoyed reading about the process of songwriting, especially as it involved collaboration between Buck and his mother.
The relationship between Buck and Jojo was fun to watch, and the way he attempted to win her heart was lovely. There were some faith elements here that were great but instead of showing that Jojo's healing and learning to trust came from the Lord, it was clearly attributed to an object – though there was an attempt to insinuate the object had been given that power from the Lord.
I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
❤️Review❤️ This is the novella that follows the Wedding Collection series (Christian Fiction Romance series). I finished reading that series in 2016 and I loved returning to this small town. I enjoyed getting to revisit this magical dress and some of the characters we got to know from The Wedding Shop. I can’t say too much without spoiling it, but if you’ve read the rest of the books you won’t want to miss this Christmas addition! If you like small town romances, Christian fiction, and a magical dress that connects through history, start with The Wedding Dress and work you’re way to this one! You won’t be disappointed! 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Can’t wait to see what @rachelhauck comes out with next!
Such a sweet, uplifting tale perfect for the holiday season. JoJo has real reasons for feeling apprehensive about moving forward with life and love. Working in the Wedding Shop in Hearts Bend, Tennessee is just the balm she needs to make her life feel safe again. The wedding dress that has been around since 1912 makes a reappearance, yet JoJo is closed off to the possibilities of a wedding and even any sort of relationship--until country star Buck returns to town and their past sparks are rekindled. I loved The Wedding Dress, it made me so hopeful and filled with joy, and this holiday tale took me back into the story and brought back the same feelings again. Readers will be touched by JoJo and her story. My only complaint is that the book isn't long enough, but I knew how long it was when I started, so I will just have to wait a little longer for Hauck's next full-length novel. Until then, this is a lovely way to spend a few hours.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, all opinions are my own.
While I could have predicted the ending to this story, I still enjoyed the read. Could just picture some of the happenings that went on here, can you imagine a woman running and then driving with a bridal veil and not any veil, a very long train one! I would love to be present when that ageless wedding dress is tried on, it is really magic! Come and watch this smart talented girl share her gifts with her friends and town, but will she be able to shake off the hurts and terror that she is holding? This is a very quick read, I read it in one setting, and will hold your attention!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Hauck House. and was not required to give a positive review.
First of all, can we talk about how gorgeous that cover is? It’s everything you want in a cover for a Christmas romance. That dress. That window all decked out for the season. The snow. The colors. Just perfect.
Now let’s talk about The Wedding Shop & Hearts Bend – two of my favorite places in fiction. I love small town Tennessee. I was born in small town Tennessee, so stories set there always have a special place in my reader heart. This particular setting of Hearts Bend is all the more delightful because it seems like the presence of God stirs a little stronger here. And that leaves room for Hauck to work her Christmas magic with some divine twists.
I loved reuniting on the page with Haley & Cole from The Wedding Shop and just Hearts Bend in general, as I’ve already established. But if you haven’t yet read a book in this series, you should still be able to enjoy The Wedding Dress Christmas – you’ll just enjoy it on a whole other level if you’ve at least read The Wedding Shop … and even more so if you’ve read them all. I will say that I missed the dual timeline that weaves so beautifully through the rest of the books – so often what touches me the most from this loosely-tied-together series is how the past & present parallel each other in the story. Still, a novella length means some elements have to go, so I understand why this is solely a contemporary timeline.
There are some funny moments in this story – such as JoJo and the veil – which help break up the tension between JoJo and Buck, as well as the emotional baggage each of them bring to the table. Country music star Buck will have you swooning from the get-go… and hold on to your Stetson when he falls in love & turns on his heart full force! JoJo is relatable and quick to like, her struggles and her flaws both easily relatable to a lot of women. I especially loved her friendship with Haley and their scenes together at The Wedding Shop.
Bottom Line: The Wedding Dress Christmas is a lovely return visit to a fan favorite setting – the quaint Hearts Bend, Tennessee – and (except for the dual timeline that’s such a big part of the previous books) delivers all the elements that readers love so much in The Wedding Collection novels. The hint of the divine. The sweet and swoony romance. The layered and likable characters. Add in the magic of the Christmas season & a gorgeous cover and you’ve got a must-read addition to your holiday TBR pile.
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
This was a quick story in The Wedding Collection by Rachel Hauck. I have not read the previous books in this series, but this little novella has piqued my interest enough that I will be reading the previous two books in the new year.
This is a romance with a bit more to it. Jojo returned to Heart's Bend a few years ago after something that happened in Dallas. Buck is home for the holidays and to make sure his mom is okay. She has been told her cancer is back and Buck wants to be with her during her treatments. JoJo and Buck had been best friends back in high school. She loved him, but he never knew. Now they are thrown together and he realizes that she is the woman for him. Can he win her heart?
This is a short story but it packs a lot into its pages. There is the mystery of the wedding dress, the small town coziness, dealing with family illness, deciding what you really want out of life and of course love. There is some Christian values, but it is more of a hint. Buck and JoJo are sweet together. It is obvious that they both love each other, but can they give up what they need to in order to be together. When JoJo finally tells Buck what happened to her, I was surprised. I could see how she might have some sort of PTSD. I enjoyed this romantic novella with all its twists and mini plots. I enjoy Rachel Hauck's writing and this was a great story to read this Christmas season. I received a copy of this book from the publisher upon request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.
This book was the perfect way to end my Christmas reading list. A Hallmark movie waiting to happen but with flawed characters with broken pasts, dreams, and lives. Looking for one thing and finding another only to realize that, perhaps, this is what they were looking for all along. Highly recommended.
I first read The Wedding Dress a couple of years ago and fell in love with the town of Hearts Bend throughout the Wedding Collection series. If ever there was a fictional town I would visit in real life it would be this one. There is just a sweet magical feel that I can’t get enough of so I was so excited to get to revisit it in this beautiful Christmas story.
Even though they had moved on from Hearts Bend, Jo and Buck are both back to the town they grew up in and still love. Jo moved back 5 years ago and Buck is taking a rest from his successful career as a country music singer to be home with his mom and family. Jo and Buck were close once years ago and quickly reacquaint with each other.
The Wedding Dress Christmas is the perfect holiday read giving you all the feels of the season. The pages are full of hope, second chances and fresh starts. I love that we get to read more about the enchanted Wedding Dress from the first book. I fell in love with this story. It was also great to visit some old friends from the series. This short novella can stand alone but I recommend reading the whole series in order. It is one of my all time favorites. Rachel Hauck has a gift of crafting stories that are spellbinding and mesmerizing. I will read anything she writes.
The Wedding Dress Christmas by Rachel Hauck takes us on a journey to Hearts Bend, Tennessee. JoJo Castle works at The Wedding Shop that is owned by her cousin, Haley Danner. JoJo loves Hearts Bend with its special traditions. JoJo, though, does not believe love is for her especially after what happened in Dallas. Buck Mathews, country music star, returns home for Christmas when he hears about his mother’s illness. The last twelve years Buck has spent working on his career and has had little time for his family. JoJo fell in love with Buck when she was in the ninth grade, but he considered her his good friend. Buck now sees JoJo in a different light, and he begins to have thoughts of marriage. While JoJo is happy in Hearts Bend, Buck has tour commitments that would keep him away for months on end. Is there a way for these two to come together and get their happily ever after? With the magic of Christmas along with a very special wedding dress, there might be a special miracle in Hearts Bend this holiday season. I have read every book in The Wedding Collection series and I thought The Wedding Dress Christmas was a lovely addition. It can be read on its own for those new to this charming series. I enjoyed reading this heartwarming holiday novella. It was nice to catch up with Haley and her husband, Cole from The Wedding Shop. JoJo Castle is a woman who loves living in her hometown where she volunteers for several projects. But JoJo has fears that keep her from imagining a love of her own while she helps others find the perfect dress, veil and shoes for when they marry their soulmate. I like the developed characters that were realistic. I like the magical wedding dress that comes in an unassuming trunk with its special history. The descriptions of Hearts Bend bring it alive and make it a place that I want to live. I would avoid Brandi Walsh, though, for fear of being roped into a project. The ending was enchanting. We see how fear can hold a person back if they let it. This is a story that will make you feel happy inside and believe in Christmas miracles. The Wedding Dress Christmas is a magical Christmas tale with a fairy-tale wedding dress, special shoes, a tattered trunk, a custom Christmas carol, concerned citizens, and pageant pandemonium.
THE WEDDING DRESS CHRISTMAS is a sweet story of friendship, family, and second chances. With memorable characters, a charming small-town setting at Christmastime, a thread of faith to trust in God, and a sweet romance, readers are sure to find plenty to love about this story. Definitely recommended.
I've only read one book from this series and need to read the other two, but I wasn't lost in this story at all. It was the perfect read to relax to during this holiday season while also enjoying a story that was sweet and light, but included plenty of depth as these characters face their individual struggles and have to decide if they will open their hearts. I loved the characters and the town and the overall message. Sometimes we put parameters and limits on our own lives when God has something better in store for us.
In the end, was it what I wished for? An enjoyable, heartfelt story from beginning to end. If you're a fan of Christian contemporary romance or this author, definitely pick this one up!
Content: Clean Source: I received a complimentary copy from through Celebrate Lit, which did not require a positive review. All opinions are my own.
I really hate to do it but I have to give this book only 1 star. Get ready for a super salty review.....(If you read this book and liked it, that's awesome! Maybe I'm just crabby tonight.)
I almost didn't finish this book. At first I thought it was just my own personal brand of holiday-induced cynicism that made me roll my eyes as I read this book but but then I realized that it wasn't just me. Yes, I am definitely in a place where romance and Christmas time are a triggering combo but this book is just legitimately bad. This book is a pseudo-Christian book that was supposed to subtly hint at greater spiritual truths..... But it was corny and forced - a "magical wedding dress" is not a great metaphor for God's presence..... The storyline itself was rough. I was fully expecting the story to be a bit rushed since it is a short novella but holy cow, the story dragged on and on and then suddenly - and completely unrealistically - everything "fell into place." Another eye roll. This must be why I usually read nonfiction books, it's hard to roll your eyes at something that actually happened.....
The Wedding Dress Christmas by Rachel Hauck is a novella with a magic wedding dress that chooses its next bride. Over a century old, the dress fits every chosen bride, regardless of her height or weight, and always looks new, fashionable, and unique for every bride.
JoJo Castle loves life in her hometown of Hearts Bend, but part of her return home from Dallas is to escape the memories of an attack that has emotionally imprisoned her. She works in her cousin's wedding shop and volunteers around town, including the children's Christmas program.
When country superstar Buck Matthews returns home to Hearts Bend because of his mother's cancer, one of the first people he sees is JoJo, his high school best friend, driving her little car, wearing a veil that is caught outside the door. From that moment, Buck decides that seeing JoJo again is one of the best reasons for returning home.
This is a sweet, sometimes comical romance with a message of facing our fears. Good characters.
The Wedding Dress Christmas has all the feels that Rachel Hauck is known for. JoJo and Buck may well become my new favorite couple. Buck is such a gentleman; a swoon-worthy singer who has been in love with JoJo for many years. JoJo is a strong, confident woman who has been crippled by fear and is trying to find peace in her hometown. All is well until Buck returns home and JoJo cannot stay in her status quo hiding place anymore. Rachel has such a beautiful way of weaving the Divine throughout her stories and in this story, the Divine presence is breathtaking. You will not want to miss how these two hearts respond to God's gift of love.
It's December in my favorite town of Heart's Bend, Tennessee. Snow, twinkling Christmas lights.
Jojo Castle is back home vowing never to leave again after her life of adventure in the big city did not work as planned.
Buck Mathews has taken the country music scene with some great music and a megawatt smile. He's riding high. Until he receives news of his mother's illness and once again Buck is back home as well.
Although JoJo works with her cousin Haley in The Wedding Shop, she herself has no plans for love. Until Buck shows up. Her high school crush arrives in town and she starts having feelings.
Buck is a successful and busy man who left his friends and family for fortune and fame. And he thought that was enough. Until he sees JoJo and is thinking there may be more important things. Such as love.
Will they be able to meet in the middle? Maybe with a little help from Christmas, a special wedding dress and maybe a nudge from above.
Rachel Hauck's books are not a genre I am known to read. She is my guilty pleasure. From the second I begin to read I'm transported to a place where love exists, people are kind and miracles do happen. If you haven't read one, well, why not?
I'll start by saying that I really enjoy Rachel Hauck's writing style. This was a well written Christmas novella. And of the "wedding" series, The Wedding Shop had been my favorite and this was a continuation of sorts of that one (though I believe this one could stand on its own as well), and it was nice to see Haley and Cole again and see how they were doing and how the shop itself was doing. This book follows JoJo Castle, Haley's cousin - who works with her at the wedding shop after returning to Hearts Bend following a traumatic experience in Dallas. When Buck Mathews visits "home" for a couple of months during the holidays, old flames are stirred. While I enjoyed the writing style and catching up with familiar characters, I did not like Buck at all and I REALLY didn't like the romance story - at all. Which, since this is a romance novella, that makes it difficult to enjoy. I believe myself to be in the minority in this feeling, though. If you enjoy Christmas romance novellas where the leading man is "pushy" and the romance happens fast, you'll likely enjoy this one.
I really wanted to love this story, but it just didn’t work for me.
While I enjoyed the cute Christmassy small town atmosphere, the whole romance premise significantly raised my blood pressure.
I’m a firm believer that love is an action, more than an emotion. My heart went out to JoJo and all she struggled with. But Buck? Ugh, that man annoyed me. He claimed to love JoJo, but all I was seeing was attraction. He didn’t truly back up his words with his actions, except that grand gesture in the end which bothered rather than impressed me. Everything was just a rush without a lot of time to get to know each other. Sure they grew up together but they hadn’t really seen each other for 10 years. And you aren’t the same person in high school that you are at nearly 30.
Also, this is an example on how NOT to deal with a trauma victim. I was getting anxiety just reading how Jo was badgered and pressured. Yes, there’s a time to face fear, but being pressured and forced to do so isn’t the way.
I didn’t DNF in hopes it would improve, but sadly, I was disappointed. :(
The perfect darling little Christmas romance. I love Rachel Hauck's style and the characters that I actually want to be friends with. She writes books I just plain enjoy. I would prefer for the characters to find healing in a Person rather than an inanimate object, but for an inspirational Christmas read, Hauck nailed it.
A fun romance with a magical wedding dress. This could only happen at Christmas! I've read and enjoyed Rachel Hauck's other books in this series and recommended them to my friends. This book will definitely give you a warm, fuzzy feeling!
“Everything she needed, everyone she loved, was right here in Hearts Bend. And The Wedding Shop was her favorite place in town. Especially at Christmas.”
Author Rachel Hauck pens a delightful return to Hearts Bend, Tennessee in The Wedding Dress Christmas. The vintage wedding dress from 1912 is timeless and elegant and fits the bride perfectly no matter her size. This novella is the perfect addition to Rachel Hauck’s Wedding Collection series.
JoJo Castle is working in The Wedding Shop in Hearts Bend, when country superstar Buck Mathews returns home for the holidays, and feelings from the past resurface for these two former high school friends. True love and a vintage wedding dress make this a Hearts Bend Christmas to remember.
Rachel Hauck’s ability to seamlessly incorporate the faith elements into the storyline and create wonderfully flawed characters make her books favorites among readers of inspirational fiction. The Wedding Dress Christmas is highly recommended for readers of contemporary romance, and those who enjoy the rich history of a timeless heirloom passed on through the years. I can’t wait for Rachel Hauck’s next release.
I received a complimentary copy of this novella from the author/publisher and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
“The man who’d set the world on fire with his velvet voice and rocking guitar was the same boy who’d set her heart ablaze all those years ago.”
The Wedding Dress Christmas by Rachel Hauck is the most delightful Christian contemporary novel about the power of love. It follows on from The Wedding Dress and it is charming to hear the continuation of the story of the hundred year old dress. Perfect love conquers all fear. She was “not open to love because fear still clung to every part of her.” God does not want us to live our lives in the grip of fear, He wants us to live abundantly free. We need to “replace all your fears with love.” We need to know we are loved and just Who it is who loves us. During life’s troubles there is One who never leaves us. He walks alongside us, lifting us up in times of need. We need to open our hearts, eyes and lives to Him. The novel is set in a wonderful small town. There is a huge welcome and a sense of community envelopes the reader. The fictional town of Hearts Bend draws the reader in. It is a place where hearts can heal with friends and family. All the characters are delightfully drawn and easy to empathise with, with their realistic flaws and fears. There is a light-heartedness that wafts through the novel as a character thinks nothing of running through the streets in a wedding dress that is not hers! The Wedding Dress Christmas is a perfect read to get you in the festive mood for Christmas nostalgia – of snow, of love and of a belief in miracles. Most importantly to know is there is One who loves us unconditionally and forever. I think The Wedding Dress Christmas would make a perfect Hallmark Christmas movie. I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
