"Stolen flowers, my darling Callista, have always been my favorite."
After the death of her glamorous mother, the last person young and beautiful Callista Palmer has in her corner is the mysterious, handsome Ruben Reynolds.
He's her fourth stepfather, as well as the man in charge of her trust fund for three more painful years. Years she must spend under his watchful eye, doing as she’s told.
Ruben has plans for Callista. Plans that include training her at House of Flowers, where she will be given a new name, and taught to become an obedient, kneeling toy for the right Master—and for the right price.
Callista resists her training with everything she has in her, fighting the budding feelings she's developed for her own stepfather. All under Ruben's watchful eye, and under his firm hand, never knowing the real reason behind his strict discipline, and Ruben's best kept secret...
Her stepfather was always going to keep Callista for himself.

It follows eighteen year old Callista who, a week after her eighteenth is taken from the school where she's lived for the past few years and taken to the house of flowers by her fourth stepfather Ruben.
Callista was stubborn and tried her best to stick up for herself, and Ruben is very dominating. We have push and pull from our H which is understanding considering her circumstances. There were slight secondary character's and I see we'll be seeing Callista's roommate in the next book.
I won't give too much away but this isn't the usual book I'd read, it's taboo and it has a master/slave relationship. It's steamy and sometimes it's hard to read due to some situations , but If that's your type of book then this is the one for you.
I have been waiting for months for this book to come out from this new author as a recommendation from another author that I love.
Let’s start off by saying I did enjoy the book and would read another book from the author and I can see this book and her type of writing is not for all.
Is this book a dark romance? No. For me, it wasn’t. I read a ton of dark romance and for me, it just didn’t fall under it. Kinky? Absolutely. And I loved it Taboo? Yes and again I loved it
Ruben was Married to Callistas' mother and her mother’s fourth husband. Her mother was never there for Callista. When Ruben finds out his wife has a daughter, He becomes obsessed with her. Then her mother passes away. He then knows what he needs to do and puts in place a plan.
Callista seems childish, defiant, and somewhat bratty. She was completely sheltered for two years in boarding school till Ruben picked her up. At first, I didn’t feel a real connection took between the characters. I did halfway through.
I did like the story, Completely new to anything I have read in a while. Love the master/slave and kinks. It’s not everyone. If you do, I recommend this book to you.
Ruben was married to Callista’s mother for a couple of years - he was her fourth husband. When he finds out his wife had a daughter, he becomes a bit obsessed. He wants to take care of her. Then when his wife dies, he knows he has to.
She’s quite reluctant, a bit defiant, and a lot childish...until she receives the proper training to suit Ruben’s needs when the time comes.
I must’ve been in a mood when I decided to sign up for this, because this type of read is normally not my cup of tea. I’d say it was because I’m a sucker for taboo and I was definitely intrigued.
Unfortunately, I didn’t feel a connection to the characters, though was very curious and wanted to know their story and how it would end.
I will say this, I love reading new-to-me authors and I’m happy to be able to suggest this one to my reader friends who I think might like it. And I’m grateful for the opportunity to read an early copy.
Dark romance? IMHO, no. Taboo? Yes. Kink? Yes. I’ve read lots of dark romance and I don’t feel this story fits into that category.
I think for those readers who like the Master/submissive/toy/plaything kink, they definitely will get enjoyment out of this.
Stolen Flowers by Annabeth Monroe is the story of Callista who lost her mother and her step-father Ruben, who is her mother's 4th husband is now wanting to take charge of her. They hadn't met but he has now arrived to take her to the 'House of Flowers' where they train women to be submissive to men. Of course she tries to stand her ground but Ruben is mind set on this. This read might not be for everyone since this does have a young women being trained to be a sub servant to a man along with the dispensary actions. Overall a quick hot read.
This is a quick short read- so temper your expectations appropriately, even the most skilled of authors have a daunting task to fully articulate a complete story arc in a short story format, and when the author is a romance/erotica author, you know what you’re going to get- light on plot or a complete story, light on coherent character development, lots of explicit steam. And, that is exactly what we have here.
I do like the quickies now and then, even if I prefer a more developed story, but this one wasn’t my favorite, despite the premise having a lot of promise. Part of that were the tropes- we’ve got a merging of “master/slave” (which isn’t my fav, and I didn’t love here) with age gap (my cup of tea) and family taboo (here not related- stepfather/daughter, but also like this trope normally)...and we have some light “daddy” vibes (even though the term “daddy” isn’t used) and some sexual kinks. The plot is pretty straight forward- stepfather training his new flower, who happens to be his stepdaughter, and both are drawn to each other despite their intentions. And, thus ensues the master-slave training. On top of this not being my favorite trope, a number of elements were underdeveloped. The characters, particularly our heroine Callista, weren’t consistent, the plot is quick and to the point (which can be expected in short story, although a bit choppy here)- we don’t get to swim much around in this potentially interesting dynamic, and, as much as I hate to say it, the sexy times even felt underdeveloped- lacking much build up, almost rote in nature. They were kinky and provocative, sure, just left me wanting, and not in that good way, haha.
This new author is the pen-name supported by an author that I often enjoy (in what way, it is unclear)- she’s known for dark and disturbing antiheroes and deliciously erotic stories that balance both plot with a heavy dose of steamy fun. She’s a gifted writer, and the concept here is really fun- age gap, family taboo and a master-slave academy, but this just didn’t quite do it for me. Clearly others loved it, and it is a fast read. If you are looking for a kinky idea and quick, steamy read (AND the master/slave trope if your jam) then you’d probably think this is pretty solid. For me, I may skip the 2nd half of the the duet but I’ll definitely be following this new pen name- meant to focus on more short, taboo, steamy focused tales-and I see a lot of promise!
I've been really looking forward to this book and I loved it. I am not usually a fan of shorter stories and I think that this book could have done with a bit more detail in places, however, I appreciated the fact that there wasn't lots of "fluff" to read through which can often come across as repetitive.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Be warned: this is not your everyday taboo romance. It's high-trigger, about barely-legal-sex-slavery where women are not just objectified but trained and corrected until they are happily contented to be men's pets, literally sitting at their feet waiting to be fed treats for good behavior.
If you cannot entirely separate fiction from life seriously take this warning not to read it, because it makes your inner-self-worth want to go all Rambo and you won't enjoy it.
I have to be honest, it was a little outside of my usual tastes. While I really like dark, taboo, rh, bully romances, this was far more "erotic" than what I would typically choose but I agreed to review an arc and want to give it a fair, objective review.
Here's why I gave it 4-stars: • The concept was completely new and completely original from anything else I have read. • The author's descriptions were clear-as-day; characters, settings… all well-described. • What are the arts supposed to do? Invoke feeling. Well it definitely did that. (i.e. Rambo) • You'd have to go into the little room with the curtain if you were renting the VHS in 1987, so for its genre, it succeeded in accomplishing its erotica objective.
The reason I am holding back the 5th star is because I am extremely particular about writing. There were just a few too many distracting editing errors, but mostly because some parts of the storyline seemed hurried instead of intentional. It just didn't quite make the A+ mark for me.
I hope my review does not discourage anyone who is well-versed in erotic-taboo. I'm mostly trying to warn away "regular" readers so that the author doesn't unfairly get lower ratings because of the shock value in the story. Unsuspecting readers are very often unfair reviewers.
Happy Reading! And for fun I'm leaving you with just one question that has kept me awake: what on earth does "a flower's" life look like when she's 70?

when i got a newsletter to sign up for an arc for this, i felt relatively back to my fourteen year old self reading forbidden tropes on wattpad.
this is a quick and steamy read but i genuinely felt like it lacked certain aspects, thus making it rushed. overall, i felt like it was a book with too much sex or kink without a general plot and while, yes i do love quick, dirty read sometimes, this was just... almost pointless? there was no development really except through the sex and becoming a slave... i guess? and i really had no connection to any characters. i did like callista’s character at first with her defiance but i got incredibly annoyed when there was a time jump of three months right after the main male character said he’d leave for three months. i totally understand this was a novella but i feel like it could have been expanded into a lengthier novel to see the characters on their own and have more development. speaking of development, i felt like the characters themselves lacked any development - callista pretty much downgrading and becoming the obedient slave while ruben remained a self righteous asshole.
i will say however, it’s a refreshing feeling to read undiscovered authors and their works! i’m grateful to have gotten this.
forbidden/taboo - yes. kink - yes. dark romance - unfortunately not, this was majorly based around kinks - master/submissive, toy and plaything.

Stolen Flowers by Annabeth Monroe was an erotic and kinky short romance. Callista is only 16 when her mother dies and she's put in the care of her stepfather Ruben Reynolds. She stays in boarding school until she's 18, at which point she is sent to this flower school. At this school/home, she learns to be the perfect slave to a Master, specifically Ruben. Ruben has some kinky fetishes and wants Callista to be trained. Callista doesn't like it at the school, but she's slowly falling for Ruben despite him being the reason why she's there. I was definitely hooked on this story. Callista is a bit of a spit-fire and Ruben handled her well. I liked the premise of the story, and it sounded quite dark. In terms of dark romances and kinkiness, it's definitely on the much lighter side. The actual s*x and the scenes Callista and Ruben did were pretty tame and nothing new to me. There wasn't much darkness, more of an obsessed man doing whatever it takes to get the girl he wants. I felt that they had great chemistry and I did like the story overall. There were a few time jumps, and there could've been a little more explanation/situations where Callista transforms from who she is before the school to the after. Overall I really did enjoy this romance. I definitely recommend it for people who want a lighter dark and kinky romance.
I'll be honest here and say that I am extremely torn over my review of this book. I am a forbidden romance junkie and two of my favorite tropes are age gap and step relationships, so I was so super excited to read this book. To my dismay I found that this book although well written and featuring a interesting plot concept was a big turn-off for me. I want to say this: I am very open minded, I enjoy lots of types of kink, enjoy reading about BDSM and am a firm believer that the more heat the better, but this book just didn't set right with me personally. I am all in for scorching hot naughty times but this book felt a lot less like that and way more like straight-up "Grooming". I did not care for the dynamic between Ruben and Callista AT ALL!!! In fact, I found Ruben incredibly creepy and in my opinion simply predatory. That is however, just MY Opinion and I know others will really like this book and to each their own. Unfortunately, for me though that was just the very tip of the iceberg of my discontent with this couple's "relationship", how it starts and how it evolves. As it is, I found nothing romantic about this story or couple. I do strongly warn readers that have triggers to seriously consider choosing to read this book. This is my candid, review that I a freely posting.
"A slave holds no limits other than what their Masters give them. They can not refuse service to their Master. Some consider themselves the property of their Masters. Every aspect of the slave’s life may be controlled by the Master."(1) This story is about Callista, a very lonely and lost eighteen-year-old, who has spent the majority of her life in boarding schools because she was a hindrance to her now deceased, actress mother's social life and career. Her estranged stepfather, Reuben, her late mother's fifth husband, has been her legal guardian, sitting the background planning out the life he wants for Callista, which starts the day of her graduation. Instead of going home with Reuben, he drops her off at the "House of Flowers," a "school" that trains women to be either submissives or slaves, to be sold at an auction to new "owners" once their training is complete. If you are choosing this book to read, you need to either enjoy reading about the BDSM/Master/Slave lifestyle or are open to observing it because this story follows the "breaking" and "rebuilding" of Callista into the perfect slave. She doesn't go willingly, and you will experience her denials, struggles, heartbreak, discoveries and sexual awakening. (1 - https://submrs.com/master-slave/)
Taboo forbidden romance is not my cup of tea, but this story was wonderfully written that it drew me in from the start.
Callista is the daughter of a famous star and is only 16 when her mother passes away. Her stepfather, Rueben becomes responsible for her until she becomes 21, making all her decisions for her until then. A week after her eighteenth birthday, Callista is enrolled in House of Flowers, a school to teach girls how to be the perfect submissive slave. There, Ruben trains her to become a slave for her new master, unbeknownst to her, he plans to claim her in the end. She tries to resist at first, but soon she realizes he is what she needs and wants.
This is my first time reading a book by Annabeth Monroe and boy does she know how to write a story that pulls you in. From the beginning, the story is intriguing and catches your attention. This is a light, sexy, “dark” forbidden romance with a touch of taboo and kink. This reminded me of Alexa Riley’s writing style. This is a great quick and steamy read. It was a great introduction to this new author and the House of Flowers world. Can’t wait to read about Kellen, Ruben’s twin brother.
I received a free ARC copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Callista never got to have a childhood or really her teenage years because she was a boarding school. After her mother's death she hoped for a change but her step-father Reuben had other plans.
When Callista turns 18 she is taken to the House of Flowers to be groomed for a Master. The only thing is she fights this at any chance she can get. That is until she finds out who is training her.
Reuben has keep his ex-wife's daughter away as long as he needed. When it was time he sent her to House of Flowers. He had alternative motives in doing this however, he had to keep all this hidden because it was wrong.
Reuben and Callista may have a strained relationship at the beginning but this changes quickly in the book. The relationship between the two is taboo because of the age differences and that fact that it is step-father and step-daughter. However, I think it works because neither of them have actually every meet until Callista is 18 and her mother is dead and was never really faithful.
So, if you want a quick taboo then this book will work for you.
I found the blurb intriguing, the cover captivating and enjoy the opportunity to read new to me authors so signed up for this arc opportunity.
Stolen Flowers is a well written, erotic, forbidden novella with scope for a series or world of books. I think the author has created an amazing first book and am looking forward to reading more of her work.
Callista is damaged, rebellious and alone, feeling unloved and dismissed by her mother and Ruben is her never been seen stepfather, she has plans for an independent life and the background is created vividly from there. Further in I found in some sections the characters and story seemed to lose some depth. I also struggled with these sections maybe because of Callista's age and being in the House of Flowers against her consent, but it felt like the story veered somewhat into grooming, which I'm not comfortable with. The ending was intriguing and contains such a beautiful gift but you need to read it to find out what :)
If you enjoy feisty younger woman, older man domination and forbidden in your books then definitely read this amazing new author.
A morsel of dark entertainment. This short story is for debauched palates that still crave a happy ending.
What I liked about this novella is that it's a series based on different couples and a sophisticated, provocative place called House of Flowers where young women are trained to become willing pets for their lustful Masters.
It sounds naughty and exciting.
Callista, the female character, ends up there through some tearful and unfair circumstances under the shadow of an unloving mother and the will of a stern stepfather.
Most of the story deals with her training, humiliation, sensual control, and her transforming from bratty to a submissive who is the happiest by pleasing that man so forbidden and alpha.
It is well written, far from shy in depicting intimate couplings, and Ruben, the male character, takes all from her while also giving her a sort of freedom that comes from fulfilling the deepest desires.
I liked reading the story, though I am not much into slaves and Masters. It's not exactly romantic, but the characters end up really happy and sated, so there's that. And there’s a glimpse of what is to come with the next character. Sounds intriguing.
In this book we have, Callista Palmer, she is a daughter of a movie starlet who never really cared for her. Callista has been in boarding schools all of her life. Out of sight out of mind, you could say.
Ruben Reynolds, was married to Callista’s mother when she passed away. Ruben doesn’t feel the over protective urge to help his step daughter in life. But he has reached out to her and moved her from one boarding school to a new school, House of Flowers. Ruben has barely spoken with Callista and he wants her to trust him with where he is moving her.
Callista has been disobeying her training at her new school with all of her will. Ruben is being threatened that she won’t be able to continue with the school.
A few things turned me off from this book. I didn’t like how Callista is being treated with moving from one school to the next. No one is talking to her about what is going on. Ruben is supposed to be her guardian and he’s treating her more like property. Callista is too young to know what is a right and wrong way to be treated.

This is an age gap, sweet romance with some power exchange. I’d love to have had a more in-depth story, particularly to understand Rueben’:s history. The timeline in the book passed quickly. Callista went from being a bratty, stubborn teen girl into a willing slave wannabe in just a few training sessions. I know it’s a novella but the characters and the story were so promising that this could easily have been a full length novel and I would have given it five stars!
This is a great read and a very promising start to a new series. I’m really looking forward to reading more to see how this develops further.

I enjoyed this read overall. I just had a couple of issues with the first couple of chapters. First it was expressed too many times for my liking Callista's age, possibly an oversight who knows but I just felt it did not need to be mentioned that many times. Also the introduction of the character Iris was a little confusing for me, Ruben hooked up with her after the passing of his late wife, then she's the headmistress of the Housed of Flowers, and the gift of the heels- whhhaaaaa?!?! Curveball. Is Iris a submissive in a place of power at the House of Flowers? How much reign does she really have? But after little Callista gets established at the House of Flowers the story gets its legs back and flows and a good rate until Ruben leaves for 3 months!! Do not expect to know what is going to happen next cause you will not.
I'm interested in the next story of the brother Kellan and where that takes us and what his little flower is like.

This was a short older male/younger woman read. It was advertised as forbidden and taboo, since Ruben is Callista’s step-father. But there was no angst, uncertainty or push and pull regarding that aspect of relationship between them, as it’s usually common with this type of genre. So I actually didn’t think there was anything forbidden or taboo in it and the story just felt lacking in every sense. The plot was barley there and focus was more on steamy scenes. Which is a shame because the blurb sounded very promisig. I understand this is a short read, but characters and storyline could use more development. Even the steamy scenes fell flat in the end due to poor chemistry between main characters. The storyline also had similar aspects to another series from this author but released under her other pen name. I’m usually more lenient with shorter reads, since it’s hard to fully develop storyline and characters in less pages, but I still can’t give this more than 2 starts. And I doubt I’ll read the next story in this series.
This story was my first story by this author and it was well written about Callista who is a daughter of a glamorous starlet. Callista's mother died and she is put under the guardianship of her fourth stepfather Ruben Reynolds. Ruben is a stranger to her. Callista who is looking forward to graduate that year found out that her mom died a week ago and on a call from Ruben, he tells her she has to stay at the boarding school until she turns 18. This starts Callista to hate Ruben and when she turns 18, he comes to pick her up and takes her to the House of Flowers where she is to be trained and then sold to a master. Does Callista come out swinging or does she learn to accept when it's Ruben who is her teacher? This is a steamy quick read and the first in this series. Once in a while I like a dark romance and this was a enjoyable read with enough background to understand their motives. I volunteer to read and review this ARC via Booksprout.
I got this ARC free from Booksprout in exchange of an honest review. I kept it spoiler free.
I wanted to like this book. It promised dark romance, the blurb was interesting. Then... I got what I got. After the prologue, I was just: WTH? Is this for real? And it only got weirder. To be honest, the author writes good, the characters were interesting and loveable albeit weird. The girl... I will just write this off to her age but she was naive, stupid, and... yeah, for me, a little bit annoying. So here comes the part that sucked big time - for me: The whole story. It was just WTF moments piled atop each other, it made absolutely no sense and it was not dark romance, it was a kinky taboo read at best. Strange and weird story with I guess with lot of steamy scenes. Honestly, I was not able to read through I was just jumping through the pages roughly. Thanks, but no thanks, although a good start for a debutee.
I'm new to this author, and do like some dark romance, but wasn't sure what I would get with this. It was quite a quick read which has expected limitations with things such as storyline and character development, however despite this was well written. It had a storyline that I'm not quite sure what I think about it. I suppose my view depends on information that wasn't given in this book, regarding consent of the girls. I found it slightly emotive in the beginning. It's explicit scenes took up a large portion, if that is what you want to read, I sure you will enjoy. Unfortunately I struggle to see the love/romance elements with it, and really struggled to like Ruben or understand Callista's responses, and felt it was more erotica than dark. Minor, but there were a couple of things that weren't really correct for a book set in England, but compared to other books I've read that are set in England, these were small.
Stolen Flowers is a story of a young 18 year old innocent who’s future is controlled by her mother’s 4th husband, Ruben. Upon leaving the all girl boarding school, Callista finds herself whisked away to a training house against her will. This is a fast moving story, requiring the reader, at times, to make assumptions on what is really happening. Being the “stepdaughter “ look alike to Ruben’s deceased wife, Callista’s mother, and developing a sexual relationship together is taboo enough, but the story doesn’t end there. All that training is leading to an end goal. Callista’s capitulation seemed too quick and simple for an innocent. I found the mother daughter aspect a little unsettling. The fast pace of the story didn’t seem to allow for much character development.

This is a good read, with excellent characters. Calista is away at boarding school and finds out a week after her mother died that her fourth stepfather now has control over her trust fund until she's twenty-one. That's five years away, so for the next two years she is left locked away at an all girls boarding school. Then her stepfather, Ruben comes for her and drops another bomb by taking her to the House of Flowers where she will be trained and sold to her new Master as a sex slave. Even though Ruben has plans for Calista, she doesn't plan to stick around to find out what they are. The first chance she gets she's running away. This is a great read and I highly recommend it! I'm looking forward to Kellan's story next.

An interesting short novella from this new author to me, the storyline flowed seamlessly, an age gap romance with a twist and a HEA. Calla never thought that following the death of her glamorous mother that her stepfather Ruben whom she had never met would step in and change her life’s destiny. His plans were very special and would involve training and dominance once she became of age. Ruben at first appears cruel and demeaning and Calla was stubborn and defiant but within a short period of time she becomes compliant and submissive definitely a little too quick and a bit strange. However on the whole I did enjoy the book, would definitely recommend it and am interested to see how this author evolves. I received a free copy via Booksprout in exchange for a voluntary honest review which I was happy to provide.
I am not against the premise of “Stolen Flowers”, because it is a story about training a submissive after her mother dies. The last stepfather has inherited her care, and he has every intention of making her “flowers” his alone. I wish there was more detail into her past as well as why this man was left as her guardian. There were several points In the book that I kept thinking, there is no way that this could be happening.
I am not totally enthralled with this book, but it does have potential if it would be possible to give more detail in the background and the reasoning behind the actions of the stepfather. You do end up with an intriguing situation after the “training “, but I really want more detail.

This went down the easy way. Callista was on the way out of her all girls boarding school. Her mother has just passed away and her stepfather is about to change her world completely. I liked the way her stepfather Richard decided that he wanted her and nothing else would do. So he takes her to be trained as a submissive at the infamous House of Flowers. The book gets 3.5 stars because I loved the plot and the characters and even the resolution but it was rushed. Callista’s entire training was glossed over. Her becoming closer to Iris was glossed over. The reason why her mom’s marriage was such a disaster and why she was so depressed needed more background. Great book with intense characters and a concise story.

This is a quick, sexy novella about a forbidden age-gap relationship between Reuben and Callista. It’s close to a total power exchange which I personally could not handle, but it was still sexy to read! We do get some background on Callista, and my heart hurt for her regarding her relationship with her mother. We don’t get much background on Reuben except he has always had plans for Callista! This was my first time reading this author, and the writing flowed with time going by quickly as I was reading. I liked and enjoyed this quick, sexy novella, and I look forward to reading the second standalone in this series!
