A man needs to stay far away from falling into bed with his best friend. Even if she’s sexy as sin, sweet as candy, and damn near irresistible every single day. But not only are Macy and I best friends, we’re also complete opposites. She’s perky, upbeat, outgoing and I’m... how shall we say... a little bit broody. Then, she reveals something to me that just might lead me to revise all my rules on friends in bed...

How did I not know about this novella? After diving into it, I can gladly say that I finished this series! Woohoo!
Once Upon A Red Hot Kiss was such a short book to fall in love with. There's just something about Lauren's writing that sucks me into whatever romance she is going to give me. Which I, of course, did willingly. It's definitely a friends to lovers kind of romance which can be sweet enough if you're in the right mood.
I was and I ate it all up. After finishing it, I can't wait to dive into my next book by Lauren!
3 stars rounded up. It was sugary sweet and super cute friends to lovers novella. It was OK but not really memorable but if you liked this whole series, it's a nice addition.
Be open to falling in love, because you might get so much more.
What do you get when you mix two best friends, a curse and a holiday that’s all about celebrating love?
A sweet and oh sooo spicy best friends to lovers novelette!
Kirby and Macy are best friends.
While Macy is secretly open to explore things with Kirby beyond the dreaded friend zone…
I’m completely devoted to our friendship. But I’m devoted to something else as well. Having more of that man. Every time I look into those bright blue eyes, each time I take in the cut of his jaw with his perma five o’clock stubble, or catch a glimpse of his ink-covered arms, I want more than friendship.
Kirby on the other hand is convinced that friends should remain as such because anything more than friendship is doomed to failure!
The woman I want is simply off-limits. She’s my friend, and friendships like this don’t come around often. I don’t want to chance messing it up. Knowing my luck, I’d lose her as a friend.
At least that’s what Kirby believes. And thanks to a curse cast on him on Valentines Day at the very tender age of eleven, Kirby’s misfortunes have so far proven the power of the curse. So nope! He is more than hesitant at any attempt to press his luck with Macy.
But as Valentines Day approaches will love prove more powerful than a curse?
“Once Upon A Red Hot Kiss” is a short read but Blakely blends just the right amount of sweet between two people who cared about each other that happened to be friends and the courage they needed to put themselves on the line to level up and take that chance at love.
And did I happen to mention how spicy this one is???
I also enjoyed the text messages between Miller and Kirby’s sister and Macy’s other bestie, Ally. Those were a nice set up for their love story in the next book which I’m dying to read!
Since he was eleven years old, Kirby has all sorts of bad luck on Valentine's Day: he has already been punched in the nose and even cursed. The result? He hates Valentine's Day as Scrooge hates Christmas. But soon, he will discover that his best friend intends to change the way he sees Valentine's Day. With a red surprise that can change this guy's opinion forever.
For Macy, Valentine's Day is synonymous with luck, very luck. Many good things in your life happened on that date, academically and professionally. And she's trying to find out if her best friend, who hates Valentine's Day, has the same feelings for her that she has for him.
I've read the heartbreakers series and reading Ally's brother's story it was a gift. It was sensational to miss the text message conversations between Miller and Ally. The story of Macy and Kirby has the perfect rhythm, without tangles, which makes this friends to lovers delightful to read. A quick, funny, romantic and daring story in the right measure. The kind of reading that no chick-lit fan will want to miss.
Short, spicy and a little sweet, this fast-paced novella centers around two friends taking the leap from to lovers just in time for Valentine’s Day. Even in such a short story (easily read in an hour or less), Blakely’s humor is evident from the start.
Our hero is a bit of a “Vrooge” (Valentine’s Day Scrooge), and our heroine is so ready for him to finally embrace what they could have together. They’ve been friends for a long time, but Kirby had a curse of sorts put on him as a kid, and now he’s wary of mixing friendship and love - no matter how much he’d love to go there with Macy. The spirit of the holiday starts to get to him, and it isn’t long before he begins rethinking his old beliefs.
Fans of Blakely will love this because not only is it an adorable and sexy novella in its own right, but it also includes some favorites from the series - Miller and Ally. This can definitely be read as a standalone, but it’s also a tease for their book. It’s a light, quick, sexy, sweet read that shows good things come when you mix friends with sex.
This is a sweet little valentine story about Macy and Kirby who were side characters in the Heartbreakers series. Kirby sings duets with his sister, Ally. Macy works for them as their manager.
Kirby is jaded about holidays and especially about Valentine's Day since he feels like it has brought him nothing but bad luck. He is funny, smart, but kind of grumpy and introverted. Macy is his complete opposite. She is perky, positive, extroverted, and adores all holidays to the extreme.
They are good friends, but each have been harboring crushes and they have no clue how the other really feels. They are both afraid of losing their friendship.
Will paper hearts and cupid's arrows this Vday finally inspire one of them to make a move out of the friend zone or will it just be another ho-hum holiday?
This is a cute, fun, and sexy story about friendship, luck, and love. I really liked Kirby and Macy and the whole opposite personalities attracting. I enjoyed getting more with Ally and Miller before their book Once Upon A Sure Thing.
Once Upon A-Red Hot Kiss was a great quick read by Lauren Blakely. This is a Heartbreakers short story. Kirby and Macy are best friends, so in Jiirby's mind, she's off limits. It doesn't help that they're also complete opposites. Kirby hates Valentine's Day and Macy is determined to change his mind. I enjoyed this quick read and can't wait to read more by the author.
I listened to this novella as part of a collection released with the audiobook of Nobody Does it Better.
I really loved Once Upon A Red Hot Kiss. Short, sweet and sexy novella performed by Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke. So much hotness packed into this little novella.
Loved this quick story of love and Valentine’s Day. Friends to lovers. They both knew in their hearts that they wanted each other, but crossing that line into lovers is a big gamble. With family and friends encouraging them they made it and had a HEA. A great read.
Once Upon a Red Hot Kiss is Macy and Kirby's story. They were secondary characters from the Heartbreakers series and I loved them and I'm so glad they got a story. It's short, sweet and oh so sexy
This novella was included in a audiobook I was listening to. I loved the story. I wouldn’t have minded if it was even longer. Fantastic narration as always.
Cute story. Short and sweet. Kirby and Macy, best friends turned lovers. Neither one wants to say anything to each other afraid of ruing their friendship.
Sweet, cute, and short. Friends moving to more than just friendship. Valentine's Day is the heart of it all for Kirby and Macy. Recommended for the mature audiences
You find out you need to move out of the friend zone! Because things are hot and sexy with said friend. But will it ruin said friendship? Great short story!
